TARGET AUDIENCE
• The target audience for the title sequence is white women aged 12-40.
• I believe this for several reasons. I believe that women would watch the
film over men because typically women enjoy drama’s over men. They
can also relate to the main character, Louise, more.
• The age group for the title sequence would be 12-40. Although this is
very varied, I believe it would be this as an 12 year old may watch this
as they may be able to relate to things in the film but the main age for a
person to watch this would be around 35 as this is the age of most of
the characters in the film.
• I believe white women would watch this the most as they can relate to
Louise and her cultural attributes more.
• The film we hope will be popular on social networking sites as the
target audience would share it to all their friends.
• They would have a simple lifestyle which would be typical of British
culture.
PRE-PRODUCTION RESEARCH FOR AUDIENCE
• Before production I had to do research into similar movies to
ours to see what target audience they had and compare it to what we
thought was appropriate.
• I looked at movies such as Eat Pray Love which was clearly targeted
towards women in their 30’s. This is because the main character who
we are supposed to connect with is that age.
• I looked at other movies which had a similar plot and genre to mine
such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Both the films are of the genre
drama and are set in India, which is an exotic location.
• Once we collected this research we made sure that the film showed
similar codes and conventions to films of similar target audiences.
