2. Age Group
• Considering that the plotline of my movie is quite complex, I do
not believe that it would be appropriate for children under the
age of 16. The movie contains violence, however it also presents
scenes showing the state which the society are living in, which
could be considered disturbing by some. With this in mind, my
product would have the ‘restricted (R)’ rating. Some movies
similar to mine which also share this rating are:

3. Movie with a similar demographic:
1984
• 1984 is a dystopian drama/romance movie which
revolves around a man who’s job is to re-write history
rebels by falling in love, and the consequences he faces
by the leader and his troops for doing so. Similarly to
what I would deem an acceptable rating for my movie,
1984 has also gotten the ‘Restricted’ rating.
Interestingly enough, shown by the ratings given by
users of the webpage IMDB, the movie has appealed to
men belonging to the age group of 30-44. However
there is also quite a large amount of men between 18-
29 who have also seemed to enjoy it. The lack of female
support of the movie is a surprise due to the plotline
revolving around a forbidden romance, with love and
romance being something which tends to attract
women. One reason which I believe that my media
product would appeal just as much to women as it
would to men would be because the plotline revolves
around a female protagonist and follows her
throughout the whole movie.
4. Who would my media product
appeal to?
• After extensive research I have been able to discover what different age groups and the
genders which would be attracted to my product.
• Males: I do think that my movie would appeal to men as much as it would to women. The fact
that the plotline is so unique and not many movies in the past have tackled such a topic like a
dictatorship, I think men will find it new and exciting. Moreover, contrary to what many would
think, I believe the fact that the main protagonist is a woman will appeal to men it would be
compelling to them to see a woman take charge for a change, as well as the actress playing
the female protagonist being considered attractive by members of the male audience. Finally,
there is a different range of male characters in the movie that will spark an interest among the
male viewers as they will be able to relate to at least one of them, if not more.
• Females: Through my understanding, females would definitely enjoy my media piece due to
the plotline revolving around a woman who has become a fugitive after standing her ground
and writing an article going against the mighty dictator. I believe that this will make women
want to watch my movie because although this is beginning to slowly change, there is a lack of
female leaders and heroes in the movie industry. Witnessing an ordinary woman, such as the
protagonist carrying out an act that goes against the rules and that benefits the greater good
of the citizens of Britain makes the movie an inspiration to women and somewhat allows them
to relate to the struggle many women still face in everyday life due to men dominating many
industries world wide.

7. How would your movie appeal to
a younger audience?
• A way in which my media product could attract a
younger audience is due to the plotline being a topic
which has not been explored entirely just yet.
Notably, the actors performing in the movie I would
say also draw a younger audience as they too are
considerably young and thus allowing the audience
to relate. Ultimately, to an extent the movie reflects
what could happen in the future, thus showing to
the younger audience the consequences of each
action that they take.
