4. MAIN PROPOSAL
• Format:
• Short film
• Working title:
• Journalism
• Genre:
• Horror
• Content:
• Numerous different shots containing school. Three Characters, all different ages and sizes, 1 young child (to be
the mid-scary person), 1 teenager (to be the star), 1 very tall person (to be the main-scary person)
• Style/approach:
• Jumpy, scary more than blood and gore because it is easier to do and it has less complication with make up
• Audience:
• 18+ because I would want people to enjoy it and want to see more rather than get scared and I think people of
that age enjoy horror films more than younger people
• Length:
• 5-10 minute feature film
5. LEGAL AND ETHICAL
CONSIDERATIONS
• Permission for actors, having their consent to be filmed and if it is a younger
child being filmed (someone under the age of 18) their legal guardians will
have to be informed and have to be there to make sure it is ok and they will
have to know how their child is being filmed and what they will do in the film
to make sure it is ethical.
• Getting copyright notice on using different songs and sound effects.
• Location setting, making sure I don’t cross any laws. You are allowed to film
any building or location with out getting permission however if I wanted a
road closed or no body on that road for a few minutes I would need
permission.
• Ethical concerns regarding younger actors, e.g. a super villains redeems
himself/herself and does something good.
6. WHAT THE FILMS ABOUT
• Young girl died 100 years ago in a terrible fire in her house that was then demolished
and this school was built on top of her burial sight.
• The mother of the daughter was also killed in the next room holding onto a toy doll
she was meant to give her daughter.
• They have spent this long trying to get back to each other.
• The mother trolls the halls at night trying to find her daughter.
• Some people have said they have seen the daughter, but never directly looking at
her, always in their peripheral vision, a speck of dust in the corner of their eye.
• A young journalist tries to uncover this for the student magazine but she finds more
than she asks for.
• She tries to reunite the mother and daughter so she will be left alone but this only
causes more problems.
• Finish on cliff hanger of, does she die?
7. DURING FILMING (SHOT) IDEAS
• Woman looking at a mirror doing makeup in the toilet and one of the
cubical doors swings open (loud) she turns around, no one’s there, turns
back to look at herself and she’s in the mirror.
• Girl throws a tantrum and throws her teddy past the journalist, she go's back
to pick it up and turns back and the girls gone, looks around and then back
to where she was before and she's there standing up in her face.
8. SHOT TYPES
• small girl - high angle shots to show that she is week and vulnerable
• Protective mum – low angle shots to show she is menacing and scary
• Journalist – eye level / high angle shots to show she is diminished in front of
the mother, low angle shots in front of the child to show her height
