Audience Feedback Planning – Group Meeting
We discussed methods we’d take in getting feedback on all three of our products. Through
this we are trying to improve on last year’s feedback and the skills development we
achieved this year. Including the range of IT skills that we didn’t use like videos. Therefore,
we decided that we would do a focus group for our documentary feedback. This will include
filming the group as they watch the documentary, viewing their reactions as they watch
(inserting the documentary in the bottom corner), asking then a range of questions of what
they thought after. This method is beneficial because it will allow us to use follow up
questions and the group can ask us for clarification on the questions as we ask them rather
than with a written questionnaire. It will be genuine as they will likely give better answers
since they have just watched the documentary for the first time and it will allow us to gain a
variety of personalities though the different representations of the group. We will use a
variety of open and closed answers to get general opinions, including statements to which
they can ‘strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree’. Using this type of statement
will force the audience to give an answer as there is no middle option for them to say ‘I
don’t know’. Increasing the level of difficulty of the questions as we go. With the magazine,
we’ll do test questions to see what of language our audience use and is appropriate for
them. This will help us amend the type of questions we’ll ask them in our final audience
feedback and will go to the decision-making process in research and planning in drafting on
the blog. This isn’t something we done last year and will show how we’ve developed this
year. In doing the audience feedback on the magazine, we will use a face to face/ interview
technique. This means we will find induvial people, show them the magazine’s listing page
and asked them questions on what they think, pointing out the microelements of the page
and hear their overall aesthetic of it. It’s an enjoyable way to do, both for the audience and
for our group; because of this, they tend to have poor questions and the audience may also
give poor answers in the written version. For the radio trailer, we will do a written
questionnaire that they can fill out after they ‘ve heard the trailer. It’s nice and simple and
different to the questionnaires we will have done (different to the online questionnaire).
We think that this will be effective as the radio trailer is very short, and thus the
questionnaire will have simple questions for the audience to answer. Splitting each role
between us, so that each of us will have focused on planning in one of the three areas as
there are three of us.
By doing these audience feedbacks, it will help us in the future, if we were to do it again.
Although, we’ll also be getting feedback along the way. It will also help us understand a
different opinion/viewpoint because it could show us that, what negatives we noticed about
our product, may not have been noticed by theirs or the other way around.

Audience feedback planning

  • 1. Audience Feedback Planning – Group Meeting We discussed methods we’d take in getting feedback on all three of our products. Through this we are trying to improve on last year’s feedback and the skills development we achieved this year. Including the range of IT skills that we didn’t use like videos. Therefore, we decided that we would do a focus group for our documentary feedback. This will include filming the group as they watch the documentary, viewing their reactions as they watch (inserting the documentary in the bottom corner), asking then a range of questions of what they thought after. This method is beneficial because it will allow us to use follow up questions and the group can ask us for clarification on the questions as we ask them rather than with a written questionnaire. It will be genuine as they will likely give better answers since they have just watched the documentary for the first time and it will allow us to gain a variety of personalities though the different representations of the group. We will use a variety of open and closed answers to get general opinions, including statements to which they can ‘strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree’. Using this type of statement will force the audience to give an answer as there is no middle option for them to say ‘I don’t know’. Increasing the level of difficulty of the questions as we go. With the magazine, we’ll do test questions to see what of language our audience use and is appropriate for them. This will help us amend the type of questions we’ll ask them in our final audience feedback and will go to the decision-making process in research and planning in drafting on the blog. This isn’t something we done last year and will show how we’ve developed this year. In doing the audience feedback on the magazine, we will use a face to face/ interview technique. This means we will find induvial people, show them the magazine’s listing page and asked them questions on what they think, pointing out the microelements of the page and hear their overall aesthetic of it. It’s an enjoyable way to do, both for the audience and for our group; because of this, they tend to have poor questions and the audience may also give poor answers in the written version. For the radio trailer, we will do a written questionnaire that they can fill out after they ‘ve heard the trailer. It’s nice and simple and different to the questionnaires we will have done (different to the online questionnaire). We think that this will be effective as the radio trailer is very short, and thus the questionnaire will have simple questions for the audience to answer. Splitting each role between us, so that each of us will have focused on planning in one of the three areas as there are three of us. By doing these audience feedbacks, it will help us in the future, if we were to do it again. Although, we’ll also be getting feedback along the way. It will also help us understand a different opinion/viewpoint because it could show us that, what negatives we noticed about our product, may not have been noticed by theirs or the other way around.
