1. Write up on audience feedback for mock up.
Front Cover Mock ups.
From getting my audience feedback from my classmates I got an idea of what works and what
doesn’t for all my mock-ups. For example, for my first front cover mock-up they thought the layout
was very effective, by having all the writing down one side it makes the page very eye catching and
makes the central image stand out. They thought it was very simple but effective. I think my second
front cover mock up page could have been my audiences favourite as they said they really liked how
full it was. It would really draw you in having so much information on the page; they thought it
looked very interesting. They also liked how the anchorage went fully across the whole page,
crossing the central image, it would make it very eye catching. However, although they like how full
the front cover mock up is they said it could detract away from the main image, which is one of the
main things the audience look at to decide whether to buy the magazine. The central image gives
something for the audience to relate to and by taking this away is may drive people away from my
magazine. For my final front cover mock-up they liked how the image takes up the entire page, it
would make the page really stand out. They also liked how all the writing was down one side of the
page with the flash on the other. It would really draw your attention towards the flash which would
want to make you read on, they also like how simple but effective this front cover is too. The idea I
want to use for my final magazine front cover is my first mock-up idea. I was steering towards my
second as I agree with my audience that by having it so full it would make it really interesting.
However, I do not want it to detract away from the image. I want my front cover to really appeal to
my audience. The reason I am choosing my first mock-up is because I love how neat and to the point
it is, and I also agree with my audience that it is very simple and effective. And normally simple is the
best. I think that this mock-up idea will work really well.
Contents Page Mock ups.
Now going on to my contents page mock ups. My class mates seemed to like this mock up, they
thought it was a very structured mock up, which would work well to catch my audience’s attention.
They liked how the cover line and graphic feature are on top of each other, which really catches your
attention. They liked how I put my logo on the side of the cover line, reminding the audience of my
magazine. They liked how the headline is bigger than the cover line and image to make it really stand
out, and this would also really draw my readers in. For my second contents page mock up they
seemed to like this one more than my first mock up. They like the singular slanted image and they
thought this would be really eye catching as it is quite different to my other ideas. They liked how
the images were down one side and headlines were down the other. They thought this makes a
really neat and effective look. For my header they thought it was a good idea having it the same side
as my headlines, this shows to the reader that this is what the magazine consists of and here is what
is inside, also giving more room for the graphic features, which are normally the things that pull the
reader in the most. For my final contents page mock up, they thought this is my most effective mock
up. They really liked how the headlines were in the middle, really drawing your attention towards
them. They liked the images surrounding the headlines, they thought this also brought emphasis
towards to headlines. However, they did say that it would be quite difficult to take an image to fit
the shape, but if the image fits well it would be effective. My classmates thought that the logo was a
good idea for all my mock ups, and they think I should keep this for the mock up I decide to choose. I
2. think I am going to use my third mock up. The reason for this is the fact that it is the most effective
and would really catch you attention. I really like the way the images are surrounding the headlines
really drawing you attention in. I am a bit hesitant about finding images to fit the shape of my mock
up, but if not I can also take some of my ideas from my other mock ups to make this mock up work
for me.
Double page spread Mock ups.
For my double page spread mock ups from my audience feedback I found what worked and what
didn’t. For my first mock-up they really seemed to the main image on one page, they thought it
would be really bold and eye catching. And it would really show the audience what the article
consists of. They liked how the pull quote and buzz words are on the main image. As the image is the
first thing the audience would look at they would see these and want to read on. They also like how
the article was laid out like a newspaper style, it is different and they thought this would interest the
audience. For my second mock-up they really liked how the image was the whole page, making the
page very bold. However, they did say that by having the whole page an image it may detract away
from the article. They said that by maybe making the large graphic feature smaller it would work
really well as they really like the three smaller slanted graphic features they thought this was very
effective and would work well on the page. I do not think that they liked this mock up a lot as they
thought it was a bit busy making the page unappealing. For my final mock up they really like how I
had changed it slightly by instead of making the image the main feature I made the article big, but
also with quite a large image to pull the reader in. They also liked how I used a pull quote as a
header they thought this would really draw my audience in, making them want to read on. However,
they did say that this could use a few buzz words etc. To make the page stand out more.
