2. I then inserted the title of my magazine as this was
necessary and is the first thing you would usually put
on the magazine cover. I took the effects I added in
The first part of the development the manipulation of these images off because, after
started with me inserting the reviewing the looks of them again, I decided they did
main image for the front cover. not look nice and instead they ruined the overall look
and quality of my magazine. I was also given feedback
by my peers on the effects I applied and this also
influenced me to take the effects off.
3. I then added in the subheadings At this stage I then added
for the magazine cover. Sub- in the date of which the
headings are very important as issue was printed as this is
they are the components of the important for the
page which attract the target customer and the
audience, but this is based on company. This is because,
the sub-heading and the if the date was not there
attractiveness of it. So for the reader would not
example if I had a sub-heading know when the issue was
which said “ Lily Kaur’s IPhone sold and may think it is
“. This type of sub-heading is out of date, resulting in
not very attractive and is in fact them not buying the
very boring, this would not magazine. This would be
attract readers. So it is bad from a business point
important I have attractive sub- of view.
headings which readers would
take their time out to read and
then hopefully buy the
magazine.
4. At this stage I then added in more attractive sub-headings and also added in an image with
a sub-heading. The sub-headings I added in as the page would be empty and unappealing
without anymore sub-headings/images on the page and this would definitely put
customer’s off from buying the magazine. Images are also important because a cover page
with just text would be boring and without visual stimulation the audience would not
want to read it. So I added in an image, of former artists and put an attractive sub-heading
called “Jake & Aj Reunite”.
5. This was my final outcome, the only changes I made was adding in one more sub-heading and adding in the barcode.
The extra sub-heading was added as it was attractive in terms of content and I needed more sub-headings to firstly
gain more attention from the readers and secondly to fill up space on the page because, if the page was empty in terms
of detail and content it would look plain, unattractive and unappealing to readers. Consequently the target audience
would not be interested in buying my magazine due to lack of detail. The barcode was added as it is essential firstly in
terms of business, because without it the magazine would not get scanned and could be easily robbed and secondly
without the barcode the readers would not know the price of the magazine. Therefore resulting in the readers not
buying it, because it maybe more expensive than they think.
6. Peace out
sign.
Here was the first part in the development process of my double page spread. I started off with just a
photograph of my artist replicating a peace out gesture. I made my artist do this as my magazine is
spreading a positive message and I do not want to spread any negative messages out, hence the reason
why I have made my artist replicate the peace out gesture. The second page of the double page spread I
have kept white for the interview to be placed on.
7. The next phase in the development of my double page spread was adding the quote said by my artist
which is related to the peace out gesture she is replicating. “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be
achieved by understanding”, this is the quote by my artist, I have placed this at the top of photograph
because it firstly suits where it has been positioned and secondly as it matches with the peace out gesture.
This is important because even though some readers may understand what the artist is representing, some
may not and having a quote explaining what message the artist is trying to send out will help the readers
who do not understand the peace out gesture. This is a good feature as it sends out a positive message to
the target audience and will give my magazine a good image. In result of this, more people may buy my
magazine and even recommend my magazine as it gives out positive messages and vibes to the readers.
8. Here is the final outcome of my double page spread. The only addition to this page was the interview
with my artist. I had added an interview because when researching existing music magazines I found
that they all consist of an interview with the artist on the page, or with someone within the music
industry. So it was clear to me that I had to follow this standard convention of music magazines and
have an interview with my artist. My interview is also very interesting and questions the artist on
delicate matters which is key, as this attracts most audiences and makes the readers carry on reading
as they want to know all details. As a regular reader of the OK magazine I, like all other readers want
to know all the juicy details, so I have placed the same emphasis in the interview with my artist
making it an interesting interview.
9. In this task I have shown the development of the front cover of my magazine and the double
page spread effectively. However I did not present the development of my contents page. The
reason behind this was when saving the final outcome of my contents page I accidentally
saved it as a JPEG image, which does not allow anyone to then modify or make any changes to
it as it is an image. Despite trying numerous ways of exporting the file back to a Photoshop
file, my efforts came to vain and I was not allowed to change the file back to a Photoshop file
in any way. This is the reason why I have not shown the development of my contents page, as
I was not allowed, which was a shame.
