AUDIENCE
ANALYSIS
Presenter:
MARIA EDHERLENE CORTEZ
What is Audience
Analysis???
It means understanding one’s audience. It
can help you gain valuable insight about
your audience, which can help you choose
and develop a relevant and meaningful
topic.
3 main areas to consider when analysing
your audience:
 Demographics
 Psychographic/Disposition
 Situational
Demographic Analysis
- involves age, gender, culture, ethnicity,
race, religion, educational level, marital
status and socioeconomic status.
Examples of Demographic Analysis Questions:
What is the age of people in the audience?
Are there significant cultural differences within
the audience?
What is the educational level of the audience
How many males and females are there in the
audience
Psychographic or Disposition Analysis
-Addresses the audience's attitudes, beliefs, and
values.
-We also acknowledge that people inherit some
values from their family upbringing, cultural
influences, and life experiences. The extent to
which someone values family loyalty and
obedience to parents, thrift, humility, and work may
be determined by these influences more than by
individual choice.
Examples of Psychographic Analysis Questions:
What might my audience expect from this
presentation?
What might I expect about my audience attitudes
toward me (the presenter) and my topic?
What interests and goals do my readers have?
What will motivate my readers? What types of
needs do they have?
What biases or preconceived ideas might my
readers have about me and my topic?
Situational Analysis
-it is finding out things like the seating
arrangement, the number of people likely
to attend, and the room lighting. The way
the seats are arranged will affect the
audience's response.
-It is also important to know how many
people will be there for the speech. And the
way the room is lighted will affect the way
the audience responds.
Examples of Situational Analysis Questions:
How many will be in the audience?
How will the seating be arranged?
Will there be a podium? a microphone?
Will there be noise and distractions?
Will I have access to A.V. equipment?
That’s all folks!!!
Thank you!!
