This document discusses auditory processing disorders and strategies to support students with these disorders. It defines auditory processing disorder as problems with processing auditory information in the brain or brainstem that can interfere with distinguishing, blending, or separating sounds. Suggested accommodations include seating students toward the front, speaking clearly, using visual aids, providing transcripts or captions, assistive listening devices, note-takers, and speech-to-text software.  Describes a variety of problems with the
brain or brainstem. This can interfere with
processing auditory information. Student
have difficulty in 1)distinguishing one sound
from another 2) blending, isolating, or
separating sounds in words 3) identifying
similarities and differences in sound patterns

 If you have problems with being understood,
rephrase your thoughts
 Write important instructions on the
blackboard
 Provide transcripts of audio information, if
possible
