ABSTRACT
Test constructed by the teacher at the class room leve l at the end of a term or end of the year is referred to as school based examination (SBE) student often perform well in the SBE because items are drawn from topic covered by the class teacher. This study is to find out the predictive validity of SBE in relation to NECO and WAEC, SSCE. The population of the study was all (670) senior secondary school in Borno state. Student performance in SBE and WAEC and NECO in English language and history in senior secondary school in 2006, 2007 and 2008 were correlated. Purposive sampling was used in selecting the school. At the time of this study only three school were found to be offering English language but not history) one school in Gwoza zone and two in Maiduguri zone. These three schools were used as samples. The result of the analysis revealed that student’s performance SSCE IN WAEC and SSCE NECO was low but there performance in SBE is high. The student performance is low in English in NECO and WAEC because no student score A or B grade for the three years in school studied. While no student obtained A or B in NECO and WAEC, the student performance in history for the three years show that few student obtained A and B grades the researcher recommend that teacher in senior secondary schools should be made to go for workshops on test construction so that they can construct good test items to match WAEC and NECO standard.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Primary and elementary education is the most important and cardinal sub-sector
and the very foundation of education edifice.
It is the bed rock of the entire education pyramid.
The research studies conducted in developing countries including Pakistan and the
world over indicate that primary and elementary education have the highest rates
of return, both social and private, as compared to other sub-sector of education
i.e. secondary and tertiary etc.
Furthermore, the first years of primary school generally yield the highest returns,
additional years of education yield comparatively lower rates of return.
The educational and socio-economic indicators of the developed and developing
countries of the world provide convincing evidences that education in general and
primary education and literacy in particular have deep, direct and determining
positive effects on overall development of the country.

Now PEC is a statutory body working under Punjab examination Act 6 of 2010.
15. Elementary examination in SINDH
The Standardized Achievement Test (SAT) .It is administered to all students in
public schools and selected private schools across the province of Sindh in
grades 5 and 8 in key subjects each year.
Sukkar IBA is responsible for development of test at elementary level.

centralized assessment for all students across the province in grades 5 and 8.
The first high stakes centralized assessment in both grades 5 and 8 will take
place in 2017.

that begins with the registration for exams and end at formulation of district
wise analytical exams reports.

EC does not register any student. Registration is done by only district
education department.
Registration is free from cost. All districts register their students by using PEC

overseen by internal assessment.
The vital advantage of external assessment is that it makes easier to compare
diverse situation and condition and articulate their judgements both the
quality of measure.
26. Disadvantages of external examination
Stressful condition may leads to students not demonstrating real capacities.
Double marking, examiners' judgement can be effected by various factors,
e.g. task difficulty, topic interest level, tiredness etc.
Fairness can only be achieved by treating everyone the same. i.e. setting the
same task at same time.
Teacher has no opportunity to build their assessment skill, get little or no
feedback on how to improve as teachers.
27. Deficiencies in assessment system in
Pakistan
Pakistan is one of only 12 courtiers in the world that spend less than two
percent of GDP on education.
Corruption is one of the major contributing factors for failure of educational
policy.
Lack of accountability and transparency along with low salaries of staff.
Quality of education and curriculum Is up to date.
Faults in Education policies.
28. Some suggestions for making up the
deficiencies in assessment system
There should be stick rules for accountability
Corruption should be removed by punishing corrupts.
We should follow the framework of education and assessment of successful
counties.
We should take an overview on curriculum after every 3 years for assessing
the effectiveness.
Govt. has to spent at least 10% of GDP on education system.
There should be a proper workshop for teachers training to improve teaching
method and assessment methods.
