Asphalt is a sticky, black, highly viscous liquid produced from petroleum during refinery processes. It is a mixture of aggregates, bitumen binder, and filler materials used to fill gaps. Asphalt is produced at asphalt plants between 150-180 degrees Celsius, though new techniques allow for lower temperature production. The primary use of asphalt is in road construction, where it acts as a glue or binder, but it can also be used for transportation infrastructure like runways, and recreation facilities like playgrounds and tracks.
