This document provides an introduction to content analysis as a technique for systematically analyzing data to make theory. It discusses criteria for selecting data categories, the difference between quantitative and qualitative analysis, levels of analysis, sampling strategies, grounded theory, coding procedures including open coding and axial coding, and strengths and weaknesses of the content analysis process. Content analysis allows for an objective, systematic study of recorded communications and processes.
