Archaeopteryx was one of the earliest known bird species that lived approximately 150 million years ago in Europe. It had feathers and wings but also retained some dinosaur-like traits such as claws on its wings and long fingers. Archaeopteryx was likely an active hunter that lived in trees and was able to climb, glide, and possibly fly short distances. It laid eggs and was thought to care for its young, displaying some early bird parental behaviors.
