The United States was and still is one of the best nations in the world. People come
here from all over to achieve the American dream. With this being said, our nation
should be ahead of every other nation when it comes to something like the
oppression of women in politics. Back in the day, the United States had the lowest
percentage of women in the National legislature, (Werner 17). This relates to my
research. In many aspects of life, women are represented less and their voices are
not heard as much compared to males. The main aspect I focus on are women
participating in Congress and in voting. My original research question was whether
women s voting and political power in Congress, at the local, state, and national
level, has increased in the last century. This question is broad in order to cover a lot
of research over a long period of time.
I will be using academic research to support of hypothesis that Over the past century,
men have been represented more than women in the voting booth and when
participating in Congress. Gender may play a huge role in this issue but there are
other variables to take into account, such as education, when looking for why the
gender gap exists. In order to receive the best results, I chose articles ranging from
1914 2014. I also chose an article that compares the gender gap in United States with
another country, India. I expect to find multiple reasons for the gender gap between
women and men in congress and in the voting polls.

during World War One. The tragic accident took the lives of many, and pushed
America to enter the war. In Dead Wake , accounts from the press, the captain, and
passengers make up a lot of the text. The novel explains the events leading up to
the sinking, how there was much worry that a German U boat would attack from
below. Sadly it did, and passengers died. Despite being warned about the dangers,
many chose to sail in it. The title Dead Wake is very fitting for the novel because

and form into more vessels known as venules. Venules are essentially smaller veins,
which in turn, gradually form the larger vessels known as the veins (Tortora, G.J.,

back to the heart to be re oxygenated via the pulmonary circulation. The

Of course, those Korean immigrants were only fighting for their own economic
survival in America, too. Yet the assertion was understandable: during the 1970s and
1980s, deindustrialization, which brought unemployment to the middle class, would
only exacerbate the conditions of Los Angeles most impoverished. The few
remaining jobs it left to the slums had been seized and hoarded by Korean
immigrants. In the reality of the situation, however, African Americans, despite their
efforts and an ongoing movement for civil rights, were simply incapable of achieving
the same level of entrepreneurial success of Korean Americans during this time
period. The reasons for their shortcomings in Koreatown, in addition to lacking higher
education and professional job experience many Korean immigrants had at their
disposal, were primarily due to the deeply ingrained institution of prejudice against
African Americans. African Americans were helplessly vulnerable to racism
regardless of how hard they worked, they would struggle to compete with other
minority groups. Nevertheless, African Americans continued to criticize Korean
Americans as they accumulated the capital and social mobility necessary to move out

The Transformation Of Odysseus In Homer s Odyssey
An odyssey is considered to be a long journey typically marked by intellectual and
spiritual change. For Odysseus this is seen to be particularly true, however the fact
that his journey lasted for twenty years is not the only main qualifier present. Rather,
Odysseus s spiritual change as a soldier trying to get home and his reactions to the
events that happen to him allow his travels to become an odyssey. At the beginning of
his journey, Odysseus starts off as an arrogant and prideful soldier who s main goal

Hispanics are transforming the nation s religious landscape, not only because of their
increasing numbers but also because they are practicing a distinctive form of
Christianity. Religious expressions associated with the Pentecostal and Charismatic
movements are a key attribute of worship for Hispanics in many of the major
religious traditions far more so than among non Latinos. Moreover, the growth of the
Hispanic population is leading to the emergence of Latino oriented churches across

range from cancer, HIV, diabetes, and mental illness. What people do not usually
think about as a disease is bullying. Bullying is one of those diseases that is a major
problem is human lives. Bullying is an act that harms many people around the
world, especially here in the United States of America. Bullying can defined by
many things. It s teasing, name calling, stereotyping, cyber bullying, fighting,
exclusion, spreading rumors, public shaming, and aggression intimidation
(Strickland). According to educational reports, an average of 15% of children in
elementary school are in involved in bullying (Ross). This high of a percentage
proves that bullying is still a major problem today in American society. While the
percentage is not close to a hundred, those 15% of young children are affected
enough. Fifteen percent of young children being bullied is more than enough to
prove that bullying should be frowned upon. [Bullying] can be in person and
online. But it can often be considered a rite of passage (Strickland). Bullying causes
a variety of problems. The problems are not only in young people, but also adults
who were bullied before. To cure this epidemic, it would be beneficial to society if

Preparing For The Amle 2015 National Conference My
Intent
AMLE 2015
In preparing for the AMLE 2015 National Conference my intent was to get
inspiration, and to find something I could use in class and also share with co teachers
I m in a unique position in that I teach at an online school, ECOT, and much of what
is presented at conferences applies well to a brick and mortar school, but needs
adaptation to work for my classroom and my students. I knew finding information to
meet my classroom requirements might not be easy. I also knew there were a few
sessions I was particularly interested in, for instance Cultivating Resilience and
Perseverance in Students with Rick Wormeli.
The energy during the General Session while Marcia Tate spoke inspired me to go to
her session Worksheets Don t Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies that
Engage the Brain. This session was amazing. She taught the session the same way
she was teaching us to teach in our classrooms. Not only did I realize I use many of
the techniques she employed, but I was forced to think about how I can use strategies
such as movement, and Cooperative Learning and Reciprocal Teaching in my online
setting. This first session with Marcia Tate had me looking forward to the afternoon
as I walked out of her session to meet with a coworker for lunch.
After lunch I attended the 3 hour workshop Talk, Move, and Mess Active Strategies
That Engage More Students with David Shepard. I honestly was concerned about
being in one session for three hours; however, when the session

Violence In Ancient Sports
While investigating my topic of violence in sports, I decided to start at the basics of
how sports began, with the ancient olympics. The first Olympics consisted of the;
Penthalon, a combination of running, jumping, and throwing; wrestling; boxing;
pankraction; and equestrian events. Somewhat consists of violence and not a lot of
rules. In Olympia, Greecethese athletes performed to to showcase their own
physical features and their talent. As well as pre outing peace and serenity between
the cities in the area. These athletes were admired upon. I found quite a lot of

Olympics were the first competitive sports competed and largely publicized.
Second, the athletes are held up to a pedestal. Third, they are admired and honored

had the issue of violence in sports being taken off the field but it is a major
