here from all over to achieve the American dream. With this being said, our nation
should be ahead of every other nation when it comes to something like the
oppression of women in politics. Back in the day, the United States had the lowest

research. In many aspects of life, women are represented less and their voices are
not heard as much compared to males. The main aspect I focus on are women
participating in Congress and in voting. My original research question was whether
women s voting and political power in Congress, at the local, state, and national
level, has increased in the last century. This question is broad in order to cover a lot
of research over a long period of time.
I will be using academic research to support of hypothesis that Over the past century,
men have been represented more than women in the voting booth and when
participating in Congress. Gender may play a huge role in this issue but there are
other variables to take into account, such as education, when looking for why the
gender gap exists. In order to receive the best results, I chose articles ranging from
1914 2014. I also chose an article that compares the gender gap in United States with
another country, India. I expect to find multiple reasons for the gender gap between
women and men in congress and in the voting polls.

think about as a disease is bullying. Bullying is one of those diseases that is a major
problem is human lives. Bullying is an act that harms many people around the
world, especially here in the United States of America. Bullying can defined by
many things. It s teasing, name calling, stereotyping, cyber bullying, fighting,
exclusion, spreading rumors, public shaming, and aggression intimidation
(Strickland). According to educational reports, an average of 15% of children in
elementary school are in involved in bullying (Ross). This high of a percentage
proves that bullying is still a major problem today in American society. While the
percentage is not close to a hundred, those 15% of young children are affected
enough. Fifteen percent of young children being bullied is more than enough to
prove that bullying should be frowned upon. [Bullying] can be in person and
online. But it can often be considered a rite of passage (Strickland). Bullying causes
a variety of problems. The problems are not only in young people, but also adults
who were bullied before. To cure this epidemic, it would be beneficial to society if

52. The Sacred Space And Sacred Spaces Forged By The Divine
Since their creation, humans have sought to find meaning from the mundane
existence of mortality. This quest for answers has motivated many to seek out the
divine and sacred spaces forged by the divine. Biblical scholar and historian Mircea
Eliade argues that, man becomes aware of the sacred because it manifests itself
[and] to designate the act of manifestations of the sacred [is the] proposed term
hierophany (Eliade 1959: 11). In other words, a hierophany exists when the divine
chooses to reveal himself, by defining a space or object as sacred through the divine s
presence. After a hierophany occurs, the chosen object or space is deemed an axis
mundi. Eliade defines axis mundi as, a universal pillar which at once connects and
supports heaven and earth and whose base is fixed in the world below (Eliade 1959:
36). Using a comparative analysis of biblical texts and scholarly articles, this paper
will discuss how a sacred space, specifically Jerusalem, manifests itself through God
s choosing. Therefore Jerusalem is the holy dwelling place of the divine, because
God chose it through his application of multiple hierophanies and his establishment
of axes mundi within the city s walls. Jerusalem as a sacred dwelling place is
reflected though its similarities to the Garden of Eden, where God created the first

53. Preparing For The Amle 2015 National Conference My
Intent
AMLE 2015
In preparing for the AMLE 2015 National Conference my intent was to get
inspiration, and to find something I could use in class and also share with co teachers
I m in a unique position in that I teach at an online school, ECOT, and much of what
is presented at conferences applies well to a brick and mortar school, but needs
adaptation to work for my classroom and my students. I knew finding information to
meet my classroom requirements might not be easy. I also knew there were a few
sessions I was particularly interested in, for instance Cultivating Resilience and
Perseverance in Students with Rick Wormeli.
The energy during the General Session while Marcia Tate spoke inspired me to go to
her session Worksheets Don t Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies that
Engage the Brain. This session was amazing. She taught the session the same way
she was teaching us to teach in our classrooms. Not only did I realize I use many of
the techniques she employed, but I was forced to think about how I can use strategies
such as movement, and Cooperative Learning and Reciprocal Teaching in my online
setting. This first session with Marcia Tate had me looking forward to the afternoon
as I walked out of her session to meet with a coworker for lunch.
After lunch I attended the 3 hour workshop Talk, Move, and Mess Active Strategies
That Engage More Students with David Shepard. I honestly was concerned about
being in one session for three hours; however, when the session

While investigating my topic of violence in sports, I decided to start at the basics of
how sports began, with the ancient olympics. The first Olympics consisted of the;
Penthalon, a combination of running, jumping, and throwing; wrestling; boxing;
pankraction; and equestrian events. Somewhat consists of violence and not a lot of
rules. In Olympia, Greecethese athletes performed to to showcase their own
physical features and their talent. As well as pre outing peace and serenity between
the cities in the area. These athletes were admired upon. I found quite a lot of
similarities between ancient olympics and modern day sports. First, the ancient
Olympics were the first competitive sports competed and largely publicized.
Second, the athletes are held up to a pedestal. Third, they are admired and honored
for anything positive they do. Back in times of ancient times they may have not
had the issue of violence in sports being taken off the field but it is a major
problem for modern day people and it will be investigated in this paper. My thesis is
that there is something wrong with the coaching because kids are being taught how
