Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but
in the most simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the
struggle between what is right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to
corruption, but some say it was religious reasons that led to this malfeasance,
meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today s society tend to
relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that faction of
society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through
the political, McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The
Crucible takes place in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during

like activities, who begin to accuse others of committing witchcraft just so that they

The Compression Ratio Of A Diesel Engine
The compression ratio is the ratio of the maximum to minimum volume in the
cylinder of an internal combustion engine. The compression ratio for a diesel
engine usually ranges between 15:1 and 23:1. The reason being for this high
compression ratio is purposely higher causing the temperature of the air to rise. A
four stroke engine has a camshaft which is used to rotate at half the speed of the
crankshaft. (1:2 Ratio) Therefore the crankshaft will need to rotate twice for the

what can be considered societies major flaws: McDonaldization. Ritzer suggests that
in the late 20th century the socially structured form of the fast food restaurant has
become the organizational force representing and pushing rationalization further into
everyday lives and individual identity. Henry Ford was the first McDonaldization
pioneer with his vision of an assembly line for improving the production of
automobiles. His revolutionary idea dramatically changed how many automobiles
could be produced and was very efficient. You might be thinking that this sounds
pretty good. After all, being more efficient is a good thing. Controlled, consistent and
measurable outcomes also sound good. So, what s the problem? It turns out that over
rationalizing a process in this manner can cause irrationality. Which means that a
rationalized system may result in events or outcomes that were neither anticipated or
desired, and in fact, may not be so good. For example, McDonald s chain of
restaurants. Fast food often turns out to be just the opposite and you have to deal

I always finished my journal entries before breakfast. I was increasingly glad for

Even his mother, despite her wanting him to talk about the war by asking questions,
never really pays attention. As a result he resorts to lying about his experience,
forcing Krebs to isolate himself and oppose discussing what he had needed to discuss
and get off his chest.
The war experience forces Krebs to question all the assumptions and beliefs that
had previously guided his life. Having killed men in battle, Krebs sees no chance
in reconciling his actions with God. He discusses the war and how carefree it was
as if the soldiers had expected to live their life after the war not having to deal with
the consequences and horrific memories of their actions. His faith had been
stripped and morals lost. Krebs is quoted saying I m not in His Kingdom. Krebs s
lost faith is also apparent when he and his mother kneel down to pray but Krebs
can t and asks his mother to pray for the both of them. The war had been hell and it
seems as though Krebs was left there to face the consequences. I think this is one
reason why he doesn t want any consequences in his life anymore. Krebs has
chosen to rid his life of all possible consequences he could face in the future. This
includes his choice to stay away from finding work, girls, and even loved ones.
This distancing is seen further when Krebs tells his mother he doesn t love her.

The war with Mexico was the first American war fought on foreign soil. In order to
fight against Mexico we had to build a strong Army as well as a strong Navy. The
war was fought between a really unprepared military Mexico and James K. Polk
(United States President). James believed the United States had a Manifest Destiny
(A belief that the expansion of the United States from one ocean to the ocean on
the other side of the United States was justified and inevitable). A border skirmish
on the Rio Grande started off the war and a lot of American victories followed
behind it. When it was all over Mexico had lost about a third of its territory, including
New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and California.
