History Of The Blythe Fairgrounds
In 1977 the Blythe Jaycees donated what was then the Blythe Fairgrounds to the
State of California. The Fairgrounds became the 54th District Agricultural
Association and has been operated by the State and a Governor Appointed Board of
Directors for the past 25 years. State resources were used to provide a new electrical,
sewer and water system in 1977 and in 1978, the Exhibit Hall was built. By 1981,
RV pedestals for food vendors were created, with the building of the Livestock Barn

1984.

The local population is approximately 18,000 and over the four days of fair, 16,000
