Personal Philosophy Reflection Paper
For the past six weeks, I learned how philosophy has influenced the world globally.
Learning that when human beings voice their thoughts with others, they receive a
chance to change the world, especially if one person speaks one on one, one
personage can change the world of one body. My belief in the power of language is
strengthened by philosophy. This philosophy course has encouraged me to share my
opinions that are not influenced by other peers or older adults, but to deeply reflect
and research my beliefs and opinions. Looking at how philosophy has shaped the
United States, I grant my thankfulness towards the Constitution, and the democracy
and freedom we now have, compared to other countries.
My views of electronics have changed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before philosophy my views would have leaned a little bit more towards a socialist
country, but now I gratitude freedom in hard work, education, speech, etc.
From my readings to research from Edutopia to literature courses, I have gained a
deeper appreciation for language. In order to understand what one is speaking, a
person needs to spend time listening to one s language and before responding must
reflect and analyze what the other said and how to respond. If a person wants to
love another person they have to listen to their language in order to speak their
language, and the core part of learning another language is by listening. According
to Joan Blaska, author of The Power of Language: Speak and Write Using Person
First the language people use shows one s bias and prejudices. Beliefs and another s
performance fall under the influence of language. Blaska claimed the degree to which
children are able to perceive themselves as competent and worthy, or the opposite, is
heavily influenced by the verbalizations used by their teachers...Studies have found
that labeling of students does affect teacher expectations which in turn affects student
progress . People have heavy influence with their words, because of this, our language
must be intentional in a way, that breaks down negative stereotypes and helps one
gain empathy as well as seeing others capabilities. Communicating and reading others

Josh Duggar Case Study
People are wondering where Josh Duggar is. He apparently didn t go to the
Reformers Unanimous rehab center. According to Radar Online, September 1,
2015, Josh may not be there. A private plane belonging to the Duggar family took a
secret trip. On August 27, their plane landed in Paragould at approximately 9 a.m.
The strange part about this flight is that the Duggars have no known family, friends,
or property in this part of Arkansas. There are no rehab centers near Papagould

Springdale. Sources have told Radar Online, Josh has not attended any of the
mandatory meetings or church services. According to eyewitnesses, a white van

The Origins Of Sinestro s Life
Sinestro, being diabolical to his core, was revealed to have organized the death of
Kyle Rayner s mother. His mother. What a dick, right? Probably, yeah. The gist
was him using a sentient virus against the woman in an attempt to break Rayner s
will, to make him the next host of Parallax, who Sinestro seemed to have forged a
close relationship with. With an assault on Oa, the Sinestro Corps War had started.
As his forces fought against the Green Lanterns, the leader himself went on to
challenge his successor in the Green Lantern Corps Soranik Natu back on Korugar.
Her defeat led to more of Sinestro s tricks, in which he was able to fool the populace
into thinking that she was the Savior of Korugar , which forced the Green Lantern
into staying on Korugar. Intelligence agents of Sinestro s also found their way into
Korugar, committed to earning themselves positions in the government in the name

Essay on Between Wishes and Beliefs in Wild Grapes
Between Wishes and Beliefs in Wild Grapes
In Wild Grapes, Robert Frost demonstrates the complex thoughts and struggles of a
woman who lives her life, wishing that she had gained a knowledge that would have
made her life different. At the same time, she hopes to preserve the exhilarating way
she lives her life. Through the use of character portrayal, metaphor, symbolism, and
diction, Robert Frost suggests to the reader that although people know that they
should prepare themselves to walk through life, they still listen to their hearts, which
causes them to be unprepared for what lies ahead of them. The poem starts with the
woman telling a story from her youth, which is engraved traumatically in her mind. ...

Comparing herself with her brother, she characterizes herself as a tomboy who is
fond of adventure. However, on the day that she hangs on the tree, she realizes her
lack of knowledge, in comparison to her brother, and she shows her fear of facing
the reality of life. Frost uses character portrayal to illustrate the differences between
their characters. Like Eurydice in Greek mythology, whose husband came back to
save her, the little girl is saved by her brother from the tree where she is suspended.
Frost captures the idea that she is no longer an adventurer, and that leads the reader to
notice that she is facing reality.
Then Frost develops their characters making clear contrasts: the one who always
knows about things and makes a decision following the knowledge and the one
who is always led by the other, follows his knowledge, and gets confused in the
process. Frost describes that the glade where the grape tree stands is the place that
her brother already knew, and he leads her to the place. This introduces to the
reader that he knows about the thing before he does it while she just follows what
he does. Next, Frost describes, My brother did the climbing; and at first for in sweet
feru and hardhack; which gave him some time to himself to eat. This
The Growth Of The Australian Economy
In the last three years, the Australian economic performance is dominated by
economic downturns. Recently, Australia facing two crucial issues in their economy,
those are increasing budget deficit and houses affordability. In the long term, those
two issues can deteriorates the economy. By increasing budget deficit, it affect to a
decrease in living standard because the future generation need to pay more tax for
paying the debt. As the housing prices goes higher and significantly overvalued, the

First, the economic growth is not performed well, because the GDP annual growth is
below average, which fluctuates between 1% to 2%. The inflation rates also are below
initial expectation, which is only stand for around 1.7% and it started to reach
deflation. Even though, the economic growth decline, the unemployment rate is
remained stable at the point around 5.7 percent. The living standard also remain in
the same rate. However, the gap between the richer and poorer increases with almost
13 percentage point.
The overall trends shows that Australian economy is in moderate level, but the GDP
annual growth is below expectation. In addition, recently Australia are facing two
important issue, which are increasing budget deficit and aging population. If the
government does not give the efficient policy for solving this problem, it can affect to
decline in Australian economic performance.
Nowadays, in some developed countries its housing prices have significant
increases within a period of a short time. Australia is one of the developing countries
that the house prices become extremely expensive and it is overvalued in the

You should note that internet users do not like watching and listening to extremely
long videos and audios. You can use prototyping software. It will help you to plan
out your video and audio sizes efficiently to meet your clients needs. You can also
output the sizes of videos and audios accordingly using Adobe Edge Reflow.
4. Include the width and also the height attributes in your code
The attributes in your code should match with the size of your audios and videos.
You should note that, if the width and the height are not compatible with the size of
the video, it will be scaled. The video may appear ragged if the scaling is larger than
its quality. On the other hand, if the height and width are smaller, the quality of the
video may not suffer, but you may encounter challenges when uploading it online.

The Bull At The Palace Of Minos Essay
INTRODUCTION
One of the most captivating tales from Ancient Greece is that of King Minos of
Crete and the Minotaur, a beast half man and half bull. This legend, immortalised by
modern films, has its origins in the Aegean, at a time when the bull held a special
place in society.
During excavations near Heraklion in Crete in 1990, English archaeologist Sir Arthur
Evans unearthed a massive structure built by a sophisticated Bronze Age civilisation.
Evans identified this as the Palace of King Minos in the ancient city of Knossos,
inhabited by people he called the Minoans. Evans excavations at Knossos revealed
an extensive body of evidence for the Minoan civilisation, an analysis of which
proves the bull to be a significant motif depicted on a range of iconographical media.
The Australian Museum s latest exhibition, Minotaur: The Bull at the Palace of
Minos draws on this evidence to present different representations of the bull at
Knossos, as well as to communicate the significance of the bull to the Minoans. The
blockbuster, which is expected to run from April September 2018 will showcase
over 100 objects from the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, as well as integrate
innovative digital technologies to provide visitors with enjoyable immersive
experiences. The following report provides a detailed overview of the exhibition,
beginning with an explanation of its value, content and layout, before moving on to
outline the target audience and visitor experience on offer.
Comic Story In Literature
Just like traditional literature, comic books can be analyzed through narrative,
structure, and plot. Since the narrative is one of the prime factors in storytelling,
comics must have a strong narrative. If there is no narrative, there is no story.
Although, it s important to keep in mind that stories are still stories, whether you
re reading A Tale of two Cities or Watchmen. After all, a good story can be told in
any medium at all. With this in mind, while analyzing parts of the narrative, one
can observe that the nature of the comic book s medium contributes to the
storytelling of good stories. Also, comic books just like literature can be analyzed
through plot. While plot is not the end all of narrative, a poor plot can certainly
compromise the value of the narrative. Unlike literature books that can go on and
on, the comic book storyline needs to be told in a limited number of pages, and its
executed through the sequential images. Like it has been said many times before,
a picture says a thousand words , and in the case of comic books, the pictures tell a
story just as well or if not better than a lot of written words. Take this example from
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman: That whole passage of The Graveyard Book
was converted into one page. Even with the absence of words, it s still possible to
get the same feelings of thrill and anticipation just like in a page of book. Since
comic books consists of being released as monthly issues, a comic s plot must be
Handwriting Analysis Lab Report
Handwriting Analysis Lab Report The purpose of this report is to show the
similarities between the ransom note and the suspects handwriting. My partners and I
used 12 different characteristics to analyze the handwriting of the ransom note. The
characteristics were; smoothness of line quality, word and margin spacing, ratio of
small letters to capitals, continuous writing, letter connections, complete letter
formations, cursive writing, pressure, slant, litters written on line, fancy curls or
loops, and if the t s are crossed and I s are dotted. My partners and I were able to
eliminate every suspect besides one, and we proved that that person wrote the ransom
note. The writing in the ransom note was not continuous. Continuous writing is when
the spacing between words remains consistent even when there is punctuation, such
as a period... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ransom note was written on a lined piece of notebook paper, so the author of
the note should have written on the lines. The authors writing was 2 millimeters of
the line at most and it varied throughout the note. If the author of a ransom note
does not write on the lines of a lined paper in can be very distinguishing. However,
most of the suspect writers did not write on the line. The varying distance of the
authors writing from the line also made it difficult to find a clear cut author
through this characteristic. Fancy curls or loops in someone writing can be
defined as; any elaborative or unneeded additions to letters. This can be a very
helpful characteristic in identifying the author of a ransom note. If a person writes
a certain letter with a giant unneeded loop or curve, they are probably one of few
people that writes that certain letter in that way. The author of our ransom note
wrote their g s with an exaggerated curve on the hook of the g. This was a helpful
characteristic in narrowing down our suspects, as very few of the suspects wrote
their g s in this
Essay Comparing Pleasantville And Fahrenheit 451
Although rebels are looked at as agitators, eventually, people in the book and novel
aid society into evolving for the better. In Pleasantville and Fahrenheit 451 there are
certain people who go against society. These revolutionists are dominated by society
for their personal perspectives. Both the book and film seem to have a common
theme consisting of outsiders. Being a social outcast in the film and or movie
eventually brought a new perspective for the society.
These two particular worlds have different attitudes and ideas of a flawless and
excellent life. An example is when David and Jennifer arrived in Pleasantville which
then they evolved into Bud and Mary sue. Both were examined negatively because

In Fahrenheit 451 the rebels consisted of Clarisse, Montag, Faber, and Granger,
which challenged their current life and wanted an adjustment to happen. The
change the rebels wanted in the book was to read books. These Characters were
are all radiant, smart, and wanted to create down to earth ideas that nobody had
ever thought of. One common theme the book and film had was wisdom and
knowledge are acquired through experience and erudition. This theme applies as
Pleasantville changed to color. The people in Pleasantville learned that
adjustments engenders different perspectives like Skip finding the colored rose.
In Fahrenheit 451 they learned that books show how to care and love for each
other, for example when Montag read a poem to Mrs. Phelps and she started to cry
because it made her feel sympathy for her dead husband she had never felt before.
Both the film and novel take place in a very strict time period. In Fahrenheit 451
books are illegal, mental reflections are banned, and also reading books. In
Pleasantville, color is prohibited and any other thoughts other than the script is
prohibited as well as they go through the same routine everyday. Another common
theme both the film and book have is
Locavorism And Local Food
Locavorism is a food trend in which a consumer buys locally produced food. The
term local in relation to locavorasim is defined geographically within a one hundred
mile distance from which the product originated. Locavorism has proven to be very
beneficial to local communities where it is regularly practiced. With the ongoing
issues of food production in the U.S., locavorism can provide a solution to these
problems, for the trend promotes local economies, provides healthier options for
consumers, and reduces the carbon footprint. The growing costof food production is
largely due to the expenditures companies use for mechanization, irrigation, heating
systems in greenhouses, fertilizers, plastics in greenhouses, lab work, and chemical
additives. (Azevedo) The idea of locavorism is that the product goes from producer to
consumer with no intermediary. This concept cuts out the cost of middlemen in mass
production, and generates a larger revenue for farmers. Although local fooddoes not
go through the same production process as food produced in factories, local food
is more expensive when purchased. This is because farmers must charge for labor,
materials, and time in order to generate a profit. The local farmer is not a business
peon, but a person making a living. This circulation of local wealth betters
communities, and gives less power to the large scale monopolized producers. As
said before, the price of local food is higher, but in turn it yields less health problems

The Philosophy Of Moral Philosophy
Moral Philosophy is rooted in four areas of standards, one of which is the central
focus of Hedonist thinking. The standard of moral philosophy that corresponds
directly to Hedonism is known as the Value Theory. The Value Theory establishes
what is valuable in and of itself, what is worth pursuing for its own sake 1. Goods
that are valuable in their own right are intrinsic values, as referred to in the previous
sentence. Contrary to intrinsic values, instrumental goods have the ability to lead to
valuable things, but don t themselves hold significant value.
Hedonism, at its core, is centered around the pursuit of pleasure and the elimination
of pain. Consequently, when this balance obtained, Hedonist s will argue that an
individual is leading a tranquil life. Above all else, Hedonist philosophers John
Stewart Mill and Epicurus, place pleasure on a pedestal, in the way that pleasure
stands alone when considering what is good in its own right. Furthermore, they
provide their insights on goes into the moral doctrine of Hedonism. The ultimate
good , according to the Hedonist school of thought, is always pleasure, however, this
is not a united stance by all philosophers 2. Opponents to Hedonist thinking, include
Jean Kazez, Robert Nozick, and Chris Heathwood. I argue that pleasure is not the
only intrinsic good, rather it is one among many other goods that hold intrinsic value.
To assert my position, I will first discuss Epicurus and Mill s explanation on what

Simon s soul felt heavy, and wet like he was wearing wool and decided to go for a

Image Processing Essay
Abstract: A Measurement is must before going to the further calculations in various
fields of work or study. In order to find out something we definitely need some
calculations. In different sectors, determining exact size and shape are progressively
becoming an issue and based on that the latency is going up. As we cannot measure
everything with a scale or a tape, we use some optical methods of Image Processing.
In this paper, we present an approach that can be used to determine the lengths and
some other degrees of measurements like diameter, spline, Caliper(perpendicular
angle) etc. We used mostly the Image Processing techniques because all the
measurements are done on an Image. We also use some other techniques like

The image can be enhanced to mark down the accurate end points. It actually can
mark the end of a single pixel which is almost invisible as a single pixel to the
naked eye. A set of operations need to be carried out respectively to achieve this.
Initially the image need to be acquired and smoothened to mark the pixel actually
need to be. Then the neighborhood pixels collision should be eliminated followed by
the image segmentation. Finally, using the Euclidean algorithm the exact length can
be found.
II.IMAGE AQUSITION AND SMOOTHING:
In Image Processing mostly the initial step will be the Image acquisition and
smoothing. As the input for the tool of any Image Processing technique is an
image, the input image should be taken and enhanced in all the ways possible.
Enhancement involves smoothing the image, grey scaling, removing the unwanted
blur, differentiating the subject from background and so on. In this project, for
enhancing or smoothing the image we use the median filter. The median filter is
non linear digital filtering technique where the noise reduction is the pre
processing step before going to the further processing. Because the signal is big in
the case of images, we chose median filter as it can handle the larger signal and the
run time is literally less. The major advantage of the median filter is the edge
preservation. It processes each signal individually and replaces the edges of the pixel

Training Needs Assessment Paper
Training Needs Assessment Training and development are an essential part of any
human resource (HR) department. One manner this can be done is through a
training needs assessment, which provides the goal of helping to improve
employee job performance. A training needs assessment is broken into three
specific areas: organization analysis, task analysis, and personal analysis. The first
area deals with what type of environment, strategies, and resources are needed to
help determine where to emphasize training. The second deals with what kind of
activities are needed to be performed in order to determine the KSOAs needed.
While the third area is used to understand what the specific performance,
knowledge, and skills base are needed to help ensure the right individuals receive
training (Snell Morris, 2016, pp. 264). This third area is important, because not every
employee needs to be trained on the same thing which can save resources for the...

An Anatomical Analysis of the Tennis Serve
Introduction
Tennis serve is the shot that starts off the point. It is normally instigated by pitching
the ball into the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box
exclusive of touching the net. This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the
only attempt where a player takes his time to position up, instead of reacting to an
opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts are normally exerted
at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the body.
the serves comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve,
topspin slice serve, slice serve, American twist serve and the topspin serve. The
paper will focus on the some of the types of the serves and the ways in which the
upper extremity are involved in the game. With this, it will look at the movements
that occur at each of the upper extremity together with the muscles that are in use at
the joints.
The upper extremities are linked to the shaft by means of the shoulder girdle. These
parts of the body includes; the shoulder girdle together with the shoulder blade and
collar bone, the upper arm together with the humerus, the lower arm with the radius,
the hand with carpus and lastly the metacarpus and fingers. During the implication of
the different types of the serve, the extremities are used in different ways in that, they

the potential buyer s heart, and my father s heart each time the bank calls back. It
is unfair that my father, with four points away from prefect credit, could lose this
home, and everything he s worked hard for, due to owning his own business that,
not so long ago, used to be booming. The best question to ponder now is: How
could this crisis become apart of history? First, lower taxes. Plain and simple, lower
taxes on everything. That means clothes, gasoline, furniture, anything and everything
that we spend our finances on, should only have a three percent tax upon it. In
Arizona, eight point one percent is absolutely insane. As a part time employee of
Pier One Imports I watch the faces of customers shocked when their one thousand
dollar purchase is over one hundred dollars more then they can afford now, due to
taxes. It

Tibet expressed her disapproval over the Indian move while china maintained
silence which was interpreted as China s implicit acceptance of McMahon Line.
After India s seizure of Tawang, both the countries began to consolidate the
territorial gains by building military infrastructure and undertaking surveys. In
1954, an agreement to boost trade and interaction across the Tibetan border was
signed, which outlined the guidelines for peaceful co existence under Five
Principles of Peaceful Coexistence . But the agreement failed to achieve its core
goals and both the countries ended up in war in 1962. After the brief military
conflict in 1962, bilateral ties remained strained for several decades. China s
construction of military infrastructure like a military post and heli pad in 1986 and
India s grant of statehood to the eastern sector as the state of Arunachal Pradesh in
1987 further worsened the ties. To date, the border dispute remains unresolved as
both countries unwilling change their positions on the disputed areas. The Middle

Medgar Evers was a man who was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in. He
believed that one day blacks and whites would be able to associate with each other
without racial interference. He would later die for what he believed and leave an
example for all who was following in his path. The man believed to have shot him
was tried three times and finally convicted in the third trial nearly thirty years after
his death. Evers was seen as a martyr for all black to look up to.

After finishing college with a BA he moved to Mound Bayou, and established the

With being the leader of the NAACP, many white Americans did not like him, and
when he helped James Meredith get into Ole Miss, he sparked a fire that would not

Euthanasia Is The Intentional And Painless Ending Of Life...
Euthanasia is the intentional and painless ending of life for animals that are
suffering from an incurable disease. In small animals is performed by an injection
into the vein of an agent consequently ending in the death of the pet. When an
animal is euthanized they become unconscious which is firstly followed by
respiratory arrest and then cardiac arrest. If there are no cardiovascular defects in
the animal generally within 30 seconds of unconsciousness cardiac arrest will occur.

The Position Of Chief Executive
The position of Chief Executive in a company is one of the most desirable
positions any given company has to offer. Chief Executives in a company are at
the top of the company ladder. They receive excellent pay, and great benefits. In
the social realm, CEO s are generally considered to be socially superior, and their
lives are coveted by members of the middle class. The opportunity to become a
Chief Executive is rare, and the process of achieving this position is very difficult.
One must be employed with an enterprise and perform exceptionally in order to
climb the company ladder and work their way towards this coveted and desirable
position. While business degrees are not always a requirement for a CEO, they
certainly do play a huge role in determining your eligibility to be in this position.
Companies will desire business related degrees in their applicants, and the first
step to becoming a CEO is becoming a lower wage worker at the company you
wish to move up in. There are some degrees that will be especially useful for the
long term goal of obtaining the position of CEO in a company, but before covering
requirements and strategies, let s look at a basic job description of the Chief
Executive position. A Chief Executive has one responsibility; to do everything
necessary to ensure the success of a company. There is no explicit checklist of things
a CEO is expected to do, they must attend to whatever comes up and address issues
in order that everything can work

Deputy Franco #0066 and I were in the marked sheriff s unit when we observed the

Part II: Impact on Management Style In relation to the four functions of management:
planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, it is evident how my personal
thinking styles impact the way in which I manage. First and foremost, I think that my
Conventional Style of thinking impacts my management styles the most. Although I
am conventional in my practices, I am not dogmatic. I understand the importance in
not remaining steadfast with something if it is continually not working, and I also
understand the importance of being able to adapt to what does work. When it
comes to planning and organizing I do like to stick to the rules before anything
else. But as mentioned before, I often deviate from those rules if they do not appear
to be producing adequate results. I will have to admit that my Conventional Style of
thinking does give me comfort in times of great stress, but I do not see that as a
negative practice, but more of a practical application to individual differences.
Another one of my thinking styles that I feel highly impacts my managing style in
relation to planning and organizing is my Achievement Oriented Style. Although
this style was not identified as either my primary or back up thinking styles, I do
believe it plays a large role in my effectiveness as a manager. In
Anselm s Ransom Theory Research Paper
Anselm was originally a monk from Italy who became head of the English church.
He contributed to Christianity with developing a thesis of atonement that is a
considered one of the satisfaction theory s when trying to explain the event s of the
second trinity, why his life was necessary, and why was his death needed. Anselm s
most radical view was the one that was most influential and was outlined in his book
titled Why did Godbecome Man. Anselm gave an alternative thought process and
deviation to the previously thought theory which was the ransom theory which
instead of outlined why man would only owe a debt to God but thought that
somehow man owed the devil a debt. Anselm was able to change how we viewed the
sacrifice of Jesus Christ along with the relationship of atonement and incarnation in
relationship to his act and the relationship those two ideas have to each... Show more

That is, Jesus was a sacrifice on the cross for man s sin and to save him from God s
wrath. Before Anselm s theory of why Jesus died on the cross most people
believed that it was a ransom to Satan. Anselm argued that no one or God did not
owe evil anything but it was God that was owed the sacrifice. Anselm believed that
before man sinned he was a holy creation by sinning he then become mortal
(gracecrossingchurch). His argument pointed out that man could not find joy in God
and therefor salvation was for the purpose of giving man the ability of finding joy
in loving God. Anselm did not believe that man s sin could just be forgiven but was
necessary to have payment. Incarnation in terms of Christianity is Jesus coming into
existence. He is the incarnate human being of God. Not only is he human but he is
also divine (Stanford encyclopedia of theology). The incarnation was necessary for
humans to overcome sin; he is the second person of the holy trinity (Reason, Faith and
The Mcdonaldization Of Society By George Ritzer
Sociologist George Ritzer introduced the theory of McDonaldization. He wrote a
book about this theory in 1993, titled the Mcdonaldization of Society. In this book, he
describes the phenomenon happening and our society. Ritzer explains how society
becomes manifested when a culture adopts the characteristics of a fast food
restaurant, such as robotlike assembly. The process of McDonaldizationtakes a task
and breaks it down into smaller tasks. This is repeated until all tasks have been
broken down to the smallest possible level. The resulting tasks are then rationalized
to find the single most efficient method for completing each task. All other methods
are then deemed inefficient and discarded. According to Ritzer, the four main
components of McDonaldization are; efficiency, calculability, predictability, and
control.
Efficiency in McDonaldization means that every aspect of the organization is geared
toward the minimization of time. This is the ideal method of completing a task with
the quickest method of production. An individual uses efficiency when trying to find
the fastest way to get from point A to point B. One might decide that the fastest way
to get from being hungry to being full would be to stop at a fast food restaurant.
They do not consider the outcomes, they are only focused on the quickest way to
achieve their goal.
Calculability basically enforces quantity over quality . This component calculates the
best method of production based on how many of something
Analysis Of The Poem I Hell And Back
Audie Murphy, one of the most well recognized and most decorated soldiers of the
United States Army of World War II, participated in two battles which earned him
respect and awards. The first, his efforts in taking Yellow Beach of southern
France, earned him the Distinguished Service Cross. The second, in a battle outside
of Holtzwihr, France, earned him the Medal of Honor. Not only are these events
well documented for official records, they appear in his autobiography To Hell and

with various sources which include family scrapbooks, the accounts of soldiers who
served with Murphy which they gave for his medal citations, and a recently published

This account, so far, squares with an account by Staff Sergeant Norman Hollen, also
of Company B. Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two
Germans who he stumbled across before finding the light machine gun, a fact which
both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention .
The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being
responsible for Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports
Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he
places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which
Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with
Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools
of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of
reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a
machine gun, contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back.
Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine,
while Hollen and Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had
approached with the flag of surrender with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham
all agree that Murphy carried a German machine gun which he had captured like a
BAR and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the hill. This detail wasn t

Napoleon Betrayed the Revolution Essay
Napoleon Betrayed the Revolution In order to investigate the claim that Napoleon
betrayed the revolution , it has to be determined what is the French revolution? And
what are the revolutionary ideals that Napoleon allegedly betrayed? If Napoleon
betrayed the Revolution then he betrayed the ideals of liberty, equality and fraternity.
However if Napoleon did not betray the revolution, he consolidated the revolutionary
ideals. The only way of determining whether Napoleon consolidated or betrayed the
revolution is to explore his actions such as his military success, Dictatorship and
social reforms. The difficulty of this analysis is that Napoleons motives for his
actions determine whether he consolidated or betrayed the Revolution. If... Show

Napoleon continued in the Revolutionary tradition of liberating and introducing
revolutionary ideals to the territories he claimed for France. In the areas he conquered
Napoleon granted constitutions, introduced law codes, abolished feudalism, created
efficient governments and fostered education, science, literature and the arts.
However these reforms always failed as Napoleon was always attempting the
politically impossible. This did not stop Napoleon from continuing his conquests.
Napoleons battles were fought in order to consolidate his dictatorship. His Military
success initially consolidated the revolution, but once he turned France into a military
dictatorship he betrayed the revolution. Although Napoleon s military conquests
started off based on the ideals of the French Revolution, Napoleons relentless quest for
personal glory lead to a dictatorship. In Napoleons hands the state had become the
instrument of dictatorship. The Ultimate betrayal was the institution of a hereditary
monarchy. This hereditary monarchy began in Napoleons action of crowing himself

Hamlet vs. Oedipus
Hamlet vs Oedipus Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Oedipus the King by
Sophocles are both tragic stories which contain many elements of which are similar
and different. Although both Hamlet and Oedipus suffer from fate, Hamlet s father is
murdered by his brother Claudius, while Oedipus kills his own father. Both Hamlet
and Oedipushave the opportunity to shun their fate, but the two men believe
themselves to be the only individual who can resolve the predicament which they are
faced with. The homeland of Hamlet and Oedipus, Denmark and Thebes, are both in
a state of tumult. After Hamlet s father s death Denmark was presided by a new

Oedipus, on the other hand, chooses to be involved in the death of Laius, thus,
concurring with the predetermination of Oedipus fate set forth by the gods. When
arrogantly speaking to Creon, Oedipus proclaims, I shall rid us of this pollution, not
for the sake of a distant relative, but for my own sake. (Sophocles 12) Unlike Hamlet,
it was Oedipus foolishness and egotistical behavior that kicked him in the direction
of his tragic ending. Oedipus has nobody to blame but himself for the way he
ended up. His negligence towards the wise words of Tiresias eventually resulted in
the belated acknowledgment that he really did murder Laius, who was in fact
Oedipus biological father. Due to the revelation of events, the fate of Oedipus is
more tragic than that of Hamlet. But the fate of Hamlet is also tragic, only
occurring in a different way. He, Laertes, Queen Gertrude, and Claudius all die in
the duel at the end of the story. Not to mention it was Hamlet who is directly
responsible for killing Claudius chief counselor, Polonius, and also indirectly
responsible for the death of Polonius daughter, Ophelia. Both Hamlet and Oedipus
believe that fate is responsible for their tragic end, but clearly, Hamlet is more a
victim of Claudius than fate, whereas Oedipus creates his own demise.
It is obvious that both Hamlet and Oedipus are experiencing psychological trauma
while suffering through the tragic events that took place. As

The Pardoner has had a graduate education in the rhetoric of confession. Chaucer

practicing his rhetorical prowess on the other pilgrims, and on us, with the extreme
skill of a cynical and perceptive man who s heard every villainy and mastered every

His keen insight into human depravity is what makes him such a brilliant con. He
plays on the most deep seated insecurities of his flock when he describes the
magical powers of his relics. They will cure sick livestock (livestock being the
most valuable possession of the average listener, not to mention shepherds); they
will prosper crops (for all the farmers in the audience). That covers the men! To the
women, he offers the fantastic promise that his relics will cure their husbands of
their jealousy and suspicion. This is doubly clever, in light of the Wife of Bath s tale,
because it picks up on her ideal of women empowered to cheat on doting, trusting,
forgiving husbands.
Let maken with this water his potage,
And never shal he more his wyf mistriste,
Though he the sooth of hir defaute wiste;
Al had she taken preestes two or three.
It s trebly clever, actually, because the last line can be read both as sexual
solicitations to the women in his flock, as well as an insult to the three priests present
on the pilgrimage.
His next con is even more wickedly clever; he demonstrates how he subtly
manipulates
his flock into coming forward and making offerings to his relics in order to avoid
suspicion that they have committed some horrible sin.
If any wight be in this chirche now,

Reasons Behind the Failure of the Provisional Government...
Reasons Behind the Failure of the Provisional Government
The provisional government was brought about after the fall of the Tsarist
government collapsed. This was done purely because of lack of support for the
Tsar and being the only major party. They were in power for 8months and after
making five serious errors; they were removed from power by force. Kerensky ran
the provisional government and it was his lack of judgement, just like the Tsars
stupidity and gullibility that let him down.
The first error he made was that he made no attempt to make the provisional
government legitimate. It never held a democratic election for fear of losing status.
Even though at the start of their reign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This left an army that was majorly weakened and people thought that, like the Tsar
he was a loser of wars. The populations now have an even worse opinion of him and
it was not good for his popularity.
Kerensky underestimated the Bolshevik s and Lenin. Once he had fought off their
uprising with Lenin s plan of Peace for the Army, Bread for the Workers and Land
for the Peasants , he thought sending Lenin to exile was sufficient. After Lenin
accepted that he had lost his chance to become President, an uprising in Petrograd
(Kornilov Affair a point I will go onto in my next paragraph) means Kerensky has to
rearm the Bolsheviks in order to retain order. This leaves other countries and
supporters of Lenin with a chance to send him back into the country and to try and
push the country into another revolution (bringing about communism ideally). Lenin
s plan to try to please as many people as possible could come back into effect and
this time it had a substantially negative effect on Kerensky s position in Russian
parliament.
Continuing from my last point, Kerensky s lack of judgement about the Kornilov
affair was a definitive error of his. He thought that the Bolshevik s were attempting to
take over Russia by means of a coup, thus he asked Kornilov to send part of his army
to protect him. When they got there,
The Team Development Stages Of The Elected Team Leader
In the case 7, the elected team leader, Christine, was worried that her group will not
be able to do on the assigned project, since one member of the group did not fully
complete the work (Schermerhorn, Osborn, Uhl Bien, Hunt, 2012). In my opinion,
Christine did not understand the team development stages very well, thus she lost the
control over her group. According to Shermerhorn et al. (2012), there are 5 team
development stages that each newly created team goes through: forming, storming
norming, performing and adjourning. During the initial forming stage, members of
the formed team are become acquainted with each other and discuss their strengths
and weaknesses (Schermerhorn at al., 2012). In my opinion, Christine knew a little
about her teammates, since she described Diane being a quiet, Janet reliable, Steve
business oriented and Mike as a clown (Shermerhorn et al., 2012). However, she did
not recognize that Mike s personality is different from the other group members and
did not address this issue with anybody. In the second team development stage,
storming, the newly created teams have to deal with the stress in defining their roles
and responsibilities for the tasks (Shermerhorn et al., 2012). In my opinion, Christine
s team never completed this stage. Mikes jokes were understood as being
uncooperative that created tension in the team and alienated him from the team.
According to Mackin (2011), as the tension rises during the storming stage, the

many years and have seen many mistakes happen with a good and bad ending. The
two most common mistakes that are not the fault of the pharmacist are giving the
wrong prescription to the wrong customer at check out and not following HIPPA
standards. There are many cases where customers can have common names and are
given the wrong prescription due to lack of verification. I have personally heard of
a customer calling back because they realized they have the wrong medication. An
instance of such could go in a very bad direction if a customer takes the medication
and causes health problems or death, which would result in a malpractice lawsuit.
Although it was not the pharmacist error because it was an employee working under
the pharmacist, the pharmacist could lose their license and much money due to this
mistake. As long as the pharmacist has professional liability insurance this mistake
would be covered and licenses would not be threatened to be taken. Another main
area for possible lawsuits would be disregarding or not following HIPPA regulations

Ang 2 Research Paper
Angiotensin II (Ang II) is one of the mechanisms that elevates the blood pressure, and
is most well known for as being a systemic vasoconstrictor. When Ang II binds to the
receptors that are throughout the body, it affects on constricting the blood vessels,
which therefore increases the blood pressure. It also has an affect on the kidneys,
which increases the sodium retention and hence, altering the process of filtering blood
. This then increase the water reabsorption in the kidney, which causes to increase
blood volume and also blood pressure (1). Recently, it has been suggested that the
role of Ang II may be linked to the physiological and pathological effects to the
homeostasis of ER stress of Type 2 Diabetes.
The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress has emerged as one of the major
pathophysiological mechanism of various diseases. It is a multifunctional cellular
organelle and it is responsible for protein synthesis, folding, trafficking, processing
transmembrane proteins and is also known as a primary sensor for cellular stress
(2). In order for the ER proteins to be folded properly, there must be a balance
between the ER proteins and the amount of folding capacity for it to process.
However, the ER homeostasis may be disrupted which could cause the accumulation

with diabetes (5). The cells in the body of Type 2 Diabetes patients do not respond
to insulin properly, which is known to be insulin resistance or deficiency. Therefore,
glucose builds up in the blood rather then getting into the cells for energy (6). Recent
studies suggest that different forms of emotional stress could lead to Type 2
Diabetes. Other studies also suggest that depression, anxiety and anger may be
associated with the development of Type 2 Diabetes
Plot Summary Of Delia By Zora Neale Hurston
In this story, I would assume this happened in the 1950s or 1960s where the black
were still servants of whites in the south. Delia, the main character in the story
worked as a servant, she wanted to get ahead of her work so she brought her clothes
home with her to wash. Delia husband Sykes, did not like white peoplein any way
shape or form. Tension and conflict that arose was that Delia separated the clothes
into colors, Sykes kicked them back together so she would have to arrange the
colors all over again. The Tension started when Delia brought home the white people
s clothes, this caused Sykes to become angry. When Sykes kicked the clothes that
caused the conflict between the two characters. I think tone comes into play in this
story to help find out if there s conflict or not.... Show more content on

I also think the dialogue between the two characters were a big help on discovering
the conflict, an example of this would be Sykes: Next time, Ah m gointer kick em

Delia: Ah ain t for no fuss t night Sykes. Ah just come from taking sacrament at the
church house. This dialogue between the two characters I think is a good indicator
that conflict would be arising to by the way they re talking to each
Death And Death In Margaret Donne s Post-Modern
Poetical...
Donne s 17th century neo classical metaphysical poetry is based around his own
personal experiences and the historic context. While Margaret Edson s 20th century
metatheatrical post modern play Wit has exploited Donne s strong religious ideas and
metaphysical conceits, it has deciphered it towards a more secular context and
audience. Despite contextual differences, the two composers, through in textual
reading, shares and explores the common values and ideas including the value of
relationships and the concept of death. Wit explores the post modern nihilists
perspectives of death then offers comparisons and contrasts of approaching morality.
The title itself W;t being a metaphysical paradox, alludes further connection towards
the structure of Donne s work both visually and verbally, the semi colon is significant
as it is a symbolic play on death and suggests the moment between life and death. The
punctuation acts as a visual sign of insuperable barriers separating life death and
eternal life . Further use of the extended metaphor of the semi colon is shown in the
deliberate intertextual allusion made by Bearing of And Death Capital D shall be no
more semicolon . The deviation surrounding the use of , or ; contrasts to illustrate
shifting perceptions of death between the 17th to the 20th century with semicolon
representing ultimatum while the coma representing continuation. Through the
linguistic metaphor of Death is nothing but a breath a comma emphasises

The Ediacaran Fauna Essay
Up until 1947, it was believed that the Cambrian Explosion marked the first true
abundance of multicellular life. However, this was discovered to be untrue after Sir
Douglas Mawson and R.C. Sprigg mistakenly came across numerous quot;fossil
jellyfish quot; in the Ediacara Hills while observing what was originally believed to
be sandstones belonging to the lowest strata of the Cambrian. At first, these finding
were dismissed as quot;fortuitous inorganic markings. quot;(AAS Biographical
Memoirs.) Several years later however, other discoveries of segmented worms, worm
tracks, and impressions of two other assemblages that bear no resemblance to any
known organism, living or extinct, prompted the South Australian Museum and the
University of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next come the elongated worm like impressions with a horseshoe shaped head
followed by 40 identical segments and rounded flattened, worm like impressions with
a central groove and strong segmentation.
These worm like impressions belonged to the Annelida Phylum. The last two forms,
which were oval shaped impressions with T shaped groves and circular impressions
with three quot;bent arms, quot; resemble no known organisms and are believed to
represent the Phylum Arthropoda. The most abundantly distributed fossil at the
South Australian site, the Dickinsonia, was represented by over one hundred
specimens. These impressions may be related to some modern day flatworms and
were covered with transverse ridges. The number of ridges varies with size while
smaller forms had 20 ridges, larger ones could have as many as 550. Another notable
find was the Spriggina floundersi, which was named after R.C. Sprigg and Ben
Flounder; the two geologists credited to their discovery.
These small annelid worms ranged between one and three inches in length and had
small horseshoe shaped heads. These worms resemble the modern Tomopteridae,
which have heads similar to those of the Precambrian fauna, only wider. It now
appears as though these marine worms are direct descendants from the ancient
forms. The Ediacaran organisms are a clear foreshadowing of one of the most
dramatic events in all of life s history the rapid expansion of shell bearing organisms.

Attention Deficit Hyperactive-Disorder (ADHD)
Attention deficit hyperactive disorder is also known as ADHD. It is what makes
certain people distracted or just can t sit still. At least everyone has a little ADHD in
them, but others have some more than others. People become distracted do to their
intended focus, that stimulates distraction. Distraction comes from the stimuli in the
external environment that stimulates unrelated thoughts to the activity that someone
would be doing at that time. Stimuli is a thing or event that evokes a specific
functional reaction in an organ or tissue. When something distracting is put in front
of someone the stimuli in their head reacts and drives them off task, and start to focus
on the object distracting them. Which means areas of the brain which
Han and Roman Dynasty View on Technology
After studying the provided documents (#1 8) its come to my understanding that both
the Han and Roman empires thought of technology as useful and somewhat
revolutionary, but both of them had somewhat different feelings of it. The Han
dynasties attitude toward technology was that they thought it was very benefical, and
they admired it. The reason this was because they though it to be very helpful in
agriculture and construction purposes. Evidence of the positive effects of this can be
seen in Document 4: History of the Early Han Dynastywhich tells of a governer of
Nanynay and as the very generous and loving person he was his policies also
refelcted his personality. He had so much love for his people he wanted to lift weight

In Document 5 written but Ciero and upper class political leader On Duty he finds
that working in a workshop is not only degrading but he doesn t find it
enlightening or in other words he thinks that it s useless. Ciero finds no use for
technology, and that may be beacuse of his high placing in society he s not in
touch with the world of craftsmen whatsoever so there is of course no use for it to
him. Another example of a high class official having a negative view was in 7, like
stated before Seneca believed that tools were useless he an adviser to Emperor
Nero so that could be a reason why his views were different. The lower ranking
people, or commoners can only use tools so that s why I believe that they were so
grateful for the technology they were given ot provided with. The upper class people
only use the finished poduct they don t know the importance of tools. The Roman
and Han both found technoloy very useful and an everyday neccessary. Although the
Han viewed the technology verey beneficial for their agriculture and praised the
advanced tools and their inventors and well as their own work. The Romans only
appreciated the product of technology and its design and craftmeship. Both
civilizations technology was very imortant and helped to advance both that can still
be seen in China today.

Literary Context Of King Hezekiah Of Judah
Literary Context
2 Kings 19:15 19 contains various theology on prayer and also about who God is.
The passage is a simple prayer of King Hezekiah of Judah. And this passage is
placed right between 2 King 19 which seems to be the middle of the story of King
Hezekiah of Judah but this is the pivotal point of the story. In addition, the passage
shows the most critical and difficult state for Hezekiah. He is cornered in by
Sennacherib and there is no way out. 2 Kings 19:1 7 is about prophet Isaiah
encouraging Hezekiah that Judah will not be delivered by the hand of Sennacherib.
And 2 Kings 19:20 35 is about the prophecy of Isaiah concerning the Sennacherib
(v.20 28) and restoration of remnants (v.29 v.31) and destruction of Assyrian army by

This trait is different from the previous kings or any kings after Hezekiah. In
addition, there is an overlap of two kingdoms in 2 Kings 18:9 12, Judah and
Samaria. However, the northern kingdom Israel was exiled because they did not
obey the voice of the Lord their God and transgressed his covenant, even all that
Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed.
Surely, author indicates that this is the clear reason why they were exiled by the
Assyrians and unless Judah realigned their hearts back to God, they would end up
the same way. In 2 Kgs 18:13 18, the author begins in the fourteenth year of King
Hezekiah. The author shows that after six years of Samaria being exiled now they
were in a grievous situation and cornered in like Israel. All of their fortified cities
had been captured. Then Hezekiah pays tribute to stop the Assyrians to buy them
some time before they eventually come to them. And he ends up giving all the
silvers and stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord. This surely is
not a picture of triumphant Israel but rather a defeated nation subdued by Assyrians.
In 2 Kings 18:19, Rabshekah the messenger of Sennacherib comes and say to the
officials on whom do you rest this trust of yours? This is a claim against Hezekiah s
alliance to King Egypt. Though they have made a suzerain vassal relationship with
Sargon, Hezekiah withheld the tributes and broke the treaty with Assyria. Instead of

How Did Sir Humphry Davy Contribute To Chemistry
Sir Humphy Davy had many essential contributions to the study of chemistry and the
periodic table of elements. Sir Humphry Davy was a chemist from the late 18th and
early 19th century from England. His contributions and experiments were remarkably
important to the discovery of various elements, and his work with various gases. Sir
Humphry Davywas born on December 17, 1778 and raised in Penzance, Cornwall,
England. At a young age, Davy was apprenticed to be a surgeon at 16 after he had
lost his father, and then was educated at Penzance and Truron in Cornwall for
medicine. Davy was a very intelligent child and grew to become a very successful
chemist. He was first introduced to scienceby a scientist by the name of Robert

Davy was accepted into the Royal Society, the oldest scientific academy for the
fellowship of the the world s most eminent scientist, (royal society). He discovered
electrolysis, the interactions of electric currents with compound, which led to the
isolation of sodium and potassium. Davy also used electrochemistry to isolate the
elements of the alkaline earth metals: boron, barium, strontium, magnesium, and
calcium. Davy was able to isolate the alkaline earth metals by using using batteries
made out of voltaic pile, and using the electric charge to separate the elements from
their compounds. His concept of electrolytic apparatus was he connected the
battery to metallic disks that were dipped into a liquid of the compound that he
wanted separate (1, Kenyon). Davy alloyed the compound with mercury so the
water itself was not separated, and was able to produce with a current, small
clumps of the alkaline earth metals.(1, Kenyon) He also discovered boron, hydrogen
telluride, and hydrogen phosphide (phosphine)(Gibbs). He also worked with
chlorine to prove that Lavoisier s theory that all acids contained oxygen, but failed to
due so because he did not know that chlorine was actually a chemical element. Davy
was a majorly important to the isolation of multiple elements on the periodic table of
elements, and the discovery of new elements and new

a) Questionnaire /constructs development
For developing a questionnaire, exploratory research is needed to investigate the
likely determinants or attributes to be considered. Personal or focus interviews with

favorable) to 1(e.g. unfavorable). The observed frequencies of each category,
however, are counted and being weighted to imply that a greater importance is
attached to respondents with certain characteristics of the scale. The arithmetic
means produced of scale s categories guide only the analysis and merely generate a
directional insight, and do not provide specific numerical magnitude. Our
methodology endorses such a rating scale. c) Sample Size and Control The introduced
methodology uses a sample size of less than thirty ( 30). X bar construction could be
based on a sample size as small as four (Oakland, 2003:106); DeVor, Chang, and
Sutherland, 1992:198), but larger samples help detecting spordiac causes, however.
As most small businesses are well aware of their customers profile, the sampling
frame becomes easily identified.
It is rather important to precisely define the respondents, or to set up a filtering
question(s) at the early beginning of the expectation and perception questionnaires.
However, the convenience sampling method is chosen for developing the
expectations questionnaire, while the simple random sampling approach fits the
perceptions questionnaires. These proposed sampling techniques provide a level of
validity to the samples

Kentucky Stereotypes Essays

This is a joke my younger brother recited to me when I returned to my Yankee home
from the University of Kentucky for Thanksgiving break. He went on to ask, If a
Kentucky couple gets divorced are they still brother and sister? The lists of redneck
jokes surrounding Kentuckystereotypes are endless. Many people get a good laugh
out of the jokes, but they don t realize that they are portraying a crude message about
all Kentucky folk. More so than any other state, Kentucky is labeled and illustrated
as redneck and poor. Much of this may stem from many of the small towns in
Kentucky and in the Appalachian area. However, Appalachiahas been misunderstood

would be in the future. These life size portraits were intricate and very descriptive at
that. For example, my friend Katie is notorious for being disgustingly sloppy and was
illustrated as a professional cleaning lady. The pictures provided the entertainment
throughout the night. No one took offense to these; they were hilarious with a slight
hint of validity.
I took a keen liking to mine especially. I was in tattered, patched overalls, too short
for my parched legs. I had one sandal and a tennis shoe with no socks. Because I
was sporting a flannel shirt and ever so popular pigtails, the picture implied that I
would turn into the typical Kentucky redneck. Even though I laughed sincerely I
was frightened that I would come home for break with a southern twang, a hick,
shoeless boyfriend, and a tractor instead of my car. When I spoke to my friend
about my apprehensions she replied haughtily, You don t need to worry about it, the
only way you would come home with a boyfriend is if your brother decided to go to
school there.
The laughter I had then is equal to the disgust I have for it now, having done much
research on the area. I am appalled that people don t either feel sympathy or admire
the people of the Appalachian area. I could say, being the Yankee that I am, that
Kentucky has a bad reputation for being trailer trash and gritty. I had the
William Wordsworth And The Creation Of The Romantic
Movement
William Wordsworth and the Creation of the Romantic Movement William
Wordsworth (7 April 1770 23 April 1850) was a English Romantic poet.
Wordsworth s earliest poetry was published in 1793 in the collections An Evening
Walk and Descriptive Sketches. In 1795 he met Samuel Coleridge
(Encyclopedia.com), and produced Lyrical Ballads first published in 1978, it is
largely credited as the work that begain the English Romantic movement. In the
third edition of Lyrical Ballads published in 1802 the Preface to Lyrical Ballads
was added to the poems and on page 242, Wordsworth gave his now famous poetry
definition as being the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin
from emotion recollected in tranquility . In 1798 The Prelude, perhaps one of the
greatest works of English literature was first published. It is a long autobiographical
poem that is a personal history of the growth of Wordsworth s own mind. It was a
constant work in progress, with Wordsworth working on it until his death in 1850.
Lyrical Ballads published in 1798 is considered to be the fist mark of the English
Romantic movement in literature. The Romantic period of literature, covered from
about 1798 to 1832 and emphasizes nature, imagination, and the move from strictly
scientific knowledge to the knowledge of experience (A Guide to the Study of
Literature). According to the International Journal of English Language, Literature
and Humanities, Wordsworth explained his writing style

A major point to bear in mind with the way is that the airlines/handling agents are
also being updated on estimates of arrival and departure. Therefore it has to be
agreed by all the party s concerned on who will be responsible for the updating the

Airlines and handling agents know of new flight information and if both parties have
the ability to create new flights then a minute difference in time can create two flights
instead of the one.
ATC information can be used to create mandatory statistics required by some
Government agencies such as the National Air traffic Service (NATS) who use the
information for planning purposes and in some case for airspace usage.

  • 2. Personal Philosophy Reflection Paper For the past six weeks, I learned how philosophy has influenced the world globally. Learning that when human beings voice their thoughts with others, they receive a chance to change the world, especially if one person speaks one on one, one personage can change the world of one body. My belief in the power of language is strengthened by philosophy. This philosophy course has encouraged me to share my opinions that are not influenced by other peers or older adults, but to deeply reflect and research my beliefs and opinions. Looking at how philosophy has shaped the United States, I grant my thankfulness towards the Constitution, and the democracy and freedom we now have, compared to other countries. Before philosophy my views would have leaned a little bit more towards a socialist country, but now I gratitude freedom in hard work, education, speech, etc. From my readings to research from Edutopia to literature courses, I have gained a deeper appreciation for language. In order to understand what one is speaking, a person needs to spend time listening to one s language and before responding must reflect and analyze what the other said and how to respond. If a person wants to love another person they have to listen to their language in order to speak their language, and the core part of learning another language is by listening. According to Joan Blaska, author of The Power of Language: Speak and Write Using Person First the language people use shows one s bias and prejudices. Beliefs and another s performance fall under the influence of language. Blaska claimed the degree to which children are able to perceive themselves as competent and worthy, or the opposite, is heavily influenced by the verbalizations used by their teachers...Studies have found that labeling of students does affect teacher expectations which in turn affects student progress . People have heavy influence with their words, because of this, our language must be intentional in a way, that breaks down negative stereotypes and helps one gain empathy as well as seeing others capabilities. Communicating and reading others comments and inquiring others has helped me to accept

Essay on Between Wishes and Beliefs in Wild Grapes Between Wishes and Beliefs in Wild Grapes In Wild Grapes, Robert Frost demonstrates the complex thoughts and struggles of a woman who lives her life, wishing that she had gained a knowledge that would have made her life different. At the same time, she hopes to preserve the exhilarating way she lives her life. Through the use of character portrayal, metaphor, symbolism, and diction, Robert Frost suggests to the reader that although people know that they should prepare themselves to walk through life, they still listen to their hearts, which causes them to be unprepared for what lies ahead of them. Comparing herself with her brother, she characterizes herself as a tomboy who is fond of adventure. However, on the day that she hangs on the tree, she realizes her lack of knowledge, in comparison to her brother, and she shows her fear of facing the reality of life. Frost uses character portrayal to illustrate the differences between their characters. Like Eurydice in Greek mythology, whose husband came back to save her, the little girl is saved by her brother from the tree where she is suspended. Frost captures the idea that she is no longer an adventurer, and that leads the reader to notice that she is facing reality. Then Frost develops their characters making clear contrasts: the one who always knows about things and makes a decision following the knowledge and the one who is always led by the other, follows his knowledge, and gets confused in the process. Frost describes that the glade where the grape tree stands is the place that her brother already knew, and he leads her to the place. This introduces to the reader that he knows about the thing before he does it while she just follows what he does. Next, Frost describes, My brother did the climbing; and at first for in sweet feru and hardhack; which gave him some time to himself to eat. This

  • 9. The Bull At The Palace Of Minos Essay INTRODUCTION One of the most captivating tales from Ancient Greece is that of King Minos of Crete and the Minotaur, a beast half man and half bull. This legend, immortalised by modern films, has its origins in the Aegean, at a time when the bull held a special place in society. During excavations near Heraklion in Crete in 1990, English archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans unearthed a massive structure built by a sophisticated Bronze Age civilisation. Evans identified this as the Palace of King Minos in the ancient city of Knossos, inhabited by people he called the Minoans. Evans excavations at Knossos revealed an extensive body of evidence for the Minoan civilisation, an analysis of which proves the bull to be a significant motif depicted on a range of iconographical media. The Australian Museum s latest exhibition, Minotaur: The Bull at the Palace of Minos draws on this evidence to present different representations of the bull at Knossos, as well as to communicate the significance of the bull to the Minoans. The blockbuster, which is expected to run from April September 2018 will showcase over 100 objects from the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, as well as integrate innovative digital technologies to provide visitors with enjoyable immersive experiences. The following report provides a detailed overview of the exhibition, beginning with an explanation of its value, content and layout, before moving on to outline the target audience and visitor experience on offer.
  • 10. Comic Story In Literature Just like traditional literature, comic books can be analyzed through narrative, structure, and plot. Since the narrative is one of the prime factors in storytelling, comics must have a strong narrative. If there is no narrative, there is no story. Although, it s important to keep in mind that stories are still stories, whether you re reading A Tale of two Cities or Watchmen. After all, a good story can be told in any medium at all. With this in mind, while analyzing parts of the narrative, one can observe that the nature of the comic book s medium contributes to the storytelling of good stories. Also, comic books just like literature can be analyzed through plot. While plot is not the end all of narrative, a poor plot can certainly compromise the value of the narrative. Unlike literature books that can go on and on, the comic book storyline needs to be told in a limited number of pages, and its executed through the sequential images. Like it has been said many times before, a picture says a thousand words , and in the case of comic books, the pictures tell a story just as well or if not better than a lot of written words. Take this example from The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman: That whole passage of The Graveyard Book was converted into one page. Even with the absence of words, it s still possible to get the same feelings of thrill and anticipation just like in a page of book. Since comic books consists of being released as monthly issues, a comic s plot must be

However, most of the suspect writers did not write on the line. The varying distance of the authors writing from the line also made it difficult to find a clear cut author through this characteristic. Fancy curls or loops in someone writing can be defined as; any elaborative or unneeded additions to letters. This can be a very helpful characteristic in identifying the author of a ransom note. If a person writes a certain letter with a giant unneeded loop or curve, they are probably one of few people that writes that certain letter in that way. The author of our ransom note wrote their g s with an exaggerated curve on the hook of the g. • 13. Locavorism And Local Food Locavorism is a food trend in which a consumer buys locally produced food. The term local in relation to locavorasim is defined geographically within a one hundred mile distance from which the product originated. Locavorism has proven to be very beneficial to local communities where it is regularly practiced. With the ongoing issues of food production in the U.S., locavorism can provide a solution to these problems, for the trend promotes local economies, provides healthier options for consumers, and reduces the carbon footprint. The growing costof food production is largely due to the expenditures companies use for mechanization, irrigation, heating systems in greenhouses, fertilizers, plastics in greenhouses, lab work, and chemical additives. (Azevedo) The idea of locavorism is that the product goes from producer to consumer with no intermediary. This concept cuts out the cost of middlemen in mass production, and generates a larger revenue for farmers. Although local fooddoes not go through the same production process as food produced in factories, local food is more expensive when purchased. This is because farmers must charge for labor, materials, and time in order to generate a profit. The local farmer is not a business peon, but a person making a living. This circulation of local wealth betters communities, and gives less power to the large scale monopolized producers. As said before, the price of local food is higher, but in turn it yields less health problems than
  • 14. The Philosophy Of Moral Philosophy Moral Philosophy is rooted in four areas of standards, one of which is the central focus of Hedonist thinking. The standard of moral philosophy that corresponds directly to Hedonism is known as the Value Theory. The Value Theory establishes what is valuable in and of itself, what is worth pursuing for its own sake 1. Goods that are valuable in their own right are intrinsic values, as referred to in the previous sentence. Contrary to intrinsic values, instrumental goods have the ability to lead to valuable things, but don t themselves hold significant value. Hedonism, at its core, is centered around the pursuit of pleasure and the elimination of pain. Consequently, when this balance obtained, Hedonist s will argue that an individual is leading a tranquil life. Above all else, Hedonist philosophers John Stewart Mill and Epicurus, place pleasure on a pedestal, in the way that pleasure stands alone when considering what is good in its own right. Furthermore, they provide their insights on goes into the moral doctrine of Hedonism. The ultimate good , according to the Hedonist school of thought, is always pleasure, however, this is not a united stance by all philosophers 2. Opponents to Hedonist thinking, include Jean Kazez, Robert Nozick, and Chris Heathwood. I argue that pleasure is not the only intrinsic good, rather it is one among many other goods that hold intrinsic value. To assert my position, I will first discuss Epicurus and Mill s explanation on what makes

In order to find out something we definitely need some calculations. In different sectors, determining exact size and shape are progressively becoming an issue and based on that the latency is going up. As we cannot measure everything with a scale or a tape, we use some optical methods of Image Processing. In this paper, we present an approach that can be used to determine the lengths and some other degrees of measurements like diameter, spline, Caliper(perpendicular angle) etc. We used mostly the Image Processing techniques because all the measurements are done on an Image. Enhancement involves smoothing the image, grey scaling, removing the unwanted blur, differentiating the subject from background and so on. In this project, for enhancing or smoothing the image we use the median filter. The median filter is non linear digital filtering technique where the noise reduction is the pre processing step before going to the further processing. Because the signal is big in the case of images, we chose median filter as it can handle the larger signal and the run time is literally less. The major advantage of the median filter is the edge preservation. It processes each signal individually and replaces the edges of the pixel with

One manner this can be done is through a training needs assessment, which provides the goal of helping to improve employee job performance. It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net. This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to position up, instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts are normally exerted at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the body. the serves comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve, topspin slice serve, slice serve, American twist serve and the topspin serve. Anselm s most radical view was the one that was most influential and was outlined in his book titled Why did Godbecome Man. • 31. The Mcdonaldization Of Society By George Ritzer Sociologist George Ritzer introduced the theory of McDonaldization. He wrote a book about this theory in 1993, titled the Mcdonaldization of Society. In this book, he describes the phenomenon happening and our society. Ritzer explains how society becomes manifested when a culture adopts the characteristics of a fast food restaurant, such as robotlike assembly. The process of McDonaldizationtakes a task and breaks it down into smaller tasks. This is repeated until all tasks have been broken down to the smallest possible level. The resulting tasks are then rationalized to find the single most efficient method for completing each task. All other methods are then deemed inefficient and discarded. According to Ritzer, the four main components of McDonaldization are; efficiency, calculability, predictability, and control. Efficiency in McDonaldization means that every aspect of the organization is geared toward the minimization of time. This is the ideal method of completing a task with the quickest method of production. An individual uses efficiency when trying to find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. One might decide that the fastest way to get from being hungry to being full would be to stop at a fast food restaurant. They do not consider the outcomes, they are only focused on the quickest way to achieve their goal. Calculability basically enforces quantity over quality . This component calculates the best method of production based on how many of something

Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two Germans who he stumbled across before finding the light machine gun, a fact which both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention . The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a machine gun, contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back. Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine, while Hollen and Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had approached with the flag of surrender with his carbine. Kerensky ran the provisional government and it was his lack of judgement, just like the Tsars stupidity and gullibility that let him down. Once he had fought off their uprising with Lenin s plan of Peace for the Army, Bread for the Workers and Land for the Peasants , he thought sending Lenin to exile was sufficient. After Lenin accepted that he had lost his chance to become President, an uprising in Petrograd (Kornilov Affair a point I will go onto in my next paragraph) means Kerensky has to rearm the Bolsheviks in order to retain order. This leaves other countries and supporters of Lenin with a chance to send him back into the country and to try and push the country into another revolution (bringing about communism ideally). Lenin s plan to try to please as many people as possible could come back into effect and this time it had a substantially negative effect on Kerensky s position in Russian parliament. Continuing from my last point, Kerensky s lack of judgement about the Kornilov affair was a definitive error of his. In my opinion, Christine did not understand the team development stages very well, thus she lost the control over her group. According to Shermerhorn et al. In the second team development stage, storming, the newly created teams have to deal with the stress in defining their roles and responsibilities for the tasks (Shermerhorn et al., 2012). When Ang II binds to the receptors that are throughout the body, it affects on constricting the blood vessels, which therefore increases the blood pressure. It also has an affect on the kidneys, which increases the sodium retention and hence, altering the process of filtering blood . This then increase the water reabsorption in the kidney, which causes to increase blood volume and also blood pressure (1). Recently, it has been suggested that the role of Ang II may be linked to the physiological and pathological effects to the homeostasis of ER stress of Type 2 Diabetes. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress has emerged as one of the major pathophysiological mechanism of various diseases. It is a multifunctional cellular organelle and it is responsible for protein synthesis, folding, trafficking, processing transmembrane proteins and is also known as a primary sensor for cellular stress (2). In order for the ER proteins to be folded properly, there must be a balance between the ER proteins and the amount of folding capacity for it to process. However, the ER homeostasis may be disrupted which could cause the accumulation of unfolded and misfolded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. Plot Summary Of Delia By Zora Neale Hurston In this story, I would assume this happened in the 1950s or 1960s where the black were still servants of whites in the south. Delia, the main character in the story worked as a servant, she wanted to get ahead of her work so she brought her clothes home with her to wash. Delia husband Sykes, did not like white peoplein any way shape or form. Tension and conflict that arose was that Delia separated the clothes into colors, Sykes kicked them back together so she would have to arrange the colors all over again. The Tension started when Delia brought home the white people s clothes, this caused Sykes to become angry. When Sykes kicked the clothes that caused the conflict between the two characters. While Margaret Edson s 20th century metatheatrical post modern play Wit has exploited Donne s strong religious ideas and metaphysical conceits, it has deciphered it towards a more secular context and audience. Despite contextual differences, the two composers, through in textual reading, shares and explores the common values and ideas including the value of relationships and the concept of death. However, this was discovered to be untrue after Sir Douglas Mawson and R.C. Sprigg mistakenly came across numerous quot;fossil jellyfish quot; in the Ediacara Hills while observing what was originally believed to be sandstones belonging to the lowest strata of the Cambrian. At first, these finding were dismissed as quot;fortuitous inorganic markings. quot;(AAS Biographical Memoirs.) These impressions may be related to some modern day flatworms and were covered with transverse ridges. The number of ridges varies with size while smaller forms had 20 ridges, larger ones could have as many as 550. Another notable find was the Spriggina floundersi, which was named after R.C. Sprigg and Ben Flounder; the two geologists credited to their discovery. These small annelid worms ranged between one and three inches in length and had small horseshoe shaped heads. These worms resemble the modern Tomopteridae, which have heads similar to those of the Precambrian fauna, only wider. It now appears as though these marine worms are direct descendants from the ancient forms. The Ediacaran organisms are a clear foreshadowing of one of the most dramatic events in all of life s history the rapid expansion of shell bearing organisms. In addition, there is an overlap of two kingdoms in 2 Kings 18:9 12, Judah and Samaria. However, the northern kingdom Israel was exiled because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God and transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed. Surely, author indicates that this is the clear reason why they were exiled by the Assyrians and unless Judah realigned their hearts back to God, they would end up the same way. In 2 Kgs 18:13 18, the author begins in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah. The author shows that after six years of Samaria being exiled now they were in a grievous situation and cornered in like Israel. All of their fortified cities had been captured. Then Hezekiah pays tribute to stop the Assyrians to buy them some time before they eventually come to them. And he ends up giving all the silvers and stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord. This surely is not a picture of triumphant Israel but rather a defeated nation subdued by Assyrians. In 2 Kings 18:19, Rabshekah the messenger of Sennacherib comes and say to the officials on whom do you rest this trust of yours? This is a claim against Hezekiah s alliance to King Egypt. Though they have made a suzerain vassal relationship with Sargon, Hezekiah withheld the tributes and broke the treaty with Assyria. Instead of trusting in

Davy was able to isolate the alkaline earth metals by using using batteries made out of voltaic pile, and using the electric charge to separate the elements from their compounds. His concept of electrolytic apparatus was he connected the battery to metallic disks that were dipped into a liquid of the compound that he wanted separate (1, Kenyon).
