This study examined the relationship between where researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine publish papers and which journals they use. The researchers collected publication and usage data for 160 journals from 2015. They found no correlation between number of publications in a journal and its impact factor or usage. Only 7 journals were highly published in and highly used. On average, the most used journals had a higher impact factor than the most published in journals. Further research with interviews is needed to better understand researcher choices in publishing and reading.
