This study examines e-journal usage metrics to assess their value beyond cost-per-use, aiming to inform collection management decisions by analyzing article downloads, citations, and disciplinary differences. The findings suggest that SFX click-through data is a better predictor of citation behavior than traditional COUNTER downloads, with variations noted across different academic disciplines. Future phases will explore the correlation of faculty publication practices and citation behavior, as well as the validity of newer metrics like SNIP in comparison to traditional impact factors.
