This document discusses Rococo and Neoclassical architecture. Rococo style from 1715-1789 was defined by intricate exterior and interior designs featuring ornate plasterwork of flowers, cherubs and other delicate motifs. Neoclassical style from 1750-1850 rejected Rococo's ornamentation in favor of clean symmetrical shapes and the prominent use of columns, inspired by classical Greek and Roman designs. Examples of each style's architecture can still be seen today, such as the U.S. Capitol building representing Neoclassical.
