10. As the name applies, comprehensive needs assessment is the most
thorough assessment of the community, it is also the most
traditional and the most time consuming.
In the comprehensive approach, the nurse begins with the total
community( geopolitical/ phenomenological) and uses a systematic
process to assess and the aspects of the community to identify or
validate actual and potential health problems.
It is more narrow in scope because it only focuses on one
population.

diseases and disabilities in this vulnerable population.
