found some new partners. Fore a child it is hard to except that theirs parents want to split up. Rose
were more of the person who went forward. She really wanted a real family living under the same
roof. Phoebe were more of the person who held on to here angry feelings. If something were wrong,
nothing would stand in the way for her to express her feelings. Mindy usually let peoples around her

The Theory Of Economy And The Validity Of Emh
To the extent to which you depart from that equality, if it is in your opponents favor, you are a fool,
and if in your own, you are unjust. Although the notion of market efficiency has albeit rudimentarily
been dealt with since the 16th century , it was only when Eugene Fama published his PhD and his
subsequent article Efficient Capital Markets: A Review of Theory and Empirical Work in 1970 that the
Efficient Market Hypothesis (hereafter EMH) was established. The fundamental argument offered by
EMH proposes that the multiplicity and interaction of fully rational economic actors within a market
will lead to the elimination of disparities between market prices and actual values and allow the
former to randomly fluctuate around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being that news and exogenous shocks are by nature erratic, prices will share their randomness.
Accordingly, as stipulated by the rational expectations model, investors will act in response to
financial shocks mindful of the latters macroeconomic consequences. Furthermore, both efficiency
and rationality have relative connotations within the economy and are contingent to different levels of
market friction. Campbell, Lo, and MacKinley echo this view and argue that the concept of relativity
is a more useful approach than the absolutist interpretations seen in traditional economic literature.
Markets can, thus, still be efficient even if certain economic agents are irrational or if price volatility
of assets cannot be grounded by fundamentals. Since certain market participants are irrational, specific
stock market trades will not be based on a rational evaluation. Yet, Fama s sophisticated trader
argument finds that the impact of the rational agents within the market is powerful enough to
minimize the departure of actual prices from their fundamental value. Fama expanded EMH into three
distinct forms weak, semi strong and strong form to allow the hypothesis to be tested in financial
analyses. The form that is perceived, however, as the most reflective of EMH and will be employed by
the paper is the semi strong. This form of market efficiency

The Strengths Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince
Machiavelli s The Prince can be utilized as a guidebook to answer: How best can a ruler maintain
control of his state? Therefore, if any employer reads it as a how to book rather than just a work of
political theory, they can be seen as the ruler while the state would be the rest of the employees. If this
is followed like an agenda, the sole purpose of government is not the good of the people but the
stability of the state and the perpetuation of the established ruler s control. It would define the city as
an entity existing to serve its ruler rather than its populace. Obtaining the support of the people is not a
goal in itself, but rather a means for ensuring that the city remains fortified.
The mind of Machiavelli s prince is cold, calculating, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

subjects during rough times. However, in order to do so, he must convince the people that the
hardships are only temporary. More importantly, he should create feelings of patriotism and
enthusiasm amongst the city. In this way, when the chaos ceases to exist, the grateful and obliged

Pros And Cons Of College Parking
A True Nightmare in College: Parking
Waking up on time, finding your classroom, as well as showing, are just some of the stressful parts of
going to Cleveland State as a commuter, let alone finding a place to park. The necessity of finding a
parking spot on campus close to the correct buildings is a must if you plan on commuting. On top of
paying for tuition, students are asked to pay another fee to park on campus. One would think that if the
parking pass was bought, a spot would be automatically a given fact, but for some they are hard to
find. The question is should every student that buys a parking pass be granted a parking spot in the
designated area of their choice? I think that if you spend the money to park you should have a spot no
matter what time you come on campus.
As a student you are expected to show up to class on time in order to get the most out of the class
time. This can be hard for some students as well as professors because when they arrive on campus
there is no place for to park. They then spend the time they gave themselves for leeway, driving
around in search of a spot. This causes them to be late.
In an effort to reduce the confusion of parking Cleveland State sells parking passes. The passes vary in
price depending on where the student would like to park. The ... Show more content on

When the student buys the pass it gives them a sense of relief because they no longer have to worry
about parking, but it is sometimes not the case. It seems as though the university over sold the amount
of passes compared to the number of spots available. Although the student paid the top price to park
close to campus, they are made to park in lots that are on the other side of campus and the furthest
from their class building. Students should be guaranteed a spot in the garage of their choosing if they

The Causes Of Teen Suicide
Fifteen minutes fifty nine seconds then sixteen minutes hits, and another teen commits suicide due to
something going on in their life. It is crazy that in just sixteen minutes another teen commits suicide.
What would possibly be causing teen to take their life this quick? Could it be drug abuse, depression,
stress, peer pressure, or whatever else you could think of? Teen suicide is the second leading cause of
death of teens in the US. Parents wonder why teens commit suicide, and the worst part is that they will
never know why it happened. The guilt fills them to the brim, and it makes the parents feel like they
could have done something if they knew what the problem was. With the rates of teen suicide rising
the questions are growing on why they took their life, however the main reason that teens commit
suicide are because of peer pressure and emotional neglect. (just a little more hardcore on the
argument)
Teenage suicide is mainly caused through social media, so social media sites to have more intense and
more controlled filters. 4,500 teens commit suicide every month due to cyberbullying (Cyberbullying
Hotline). This is because there is someone out there that is so low that they want to bully someone
else. With social media playing a huge roll today, there is constantly drama or bullying going on.
Social media says that they filter out cyberbullying on their sites, but anyone can go to any social
media platform and look at many bullying posts. Most of teen suicides are committed with firearms
with 60 % (Kids Health). This is because most teens have some sort of access to a firearm making it
the easiest way to commit suicide. All firearms should be locked in a safe and unloaded so that the risk
of a teen suicide will be lessened. Hamm and her colleagues did not find consistent links between
being bullied and self harm across the studies (Stephanie Pappas). However, cyberbullying helps to
lead onto suicide because teens cannot even be in the comfort of the own homes without being bullied.
A stricter filter should be added to social media sites so that the number of teen suicides will drop due
to cyberbullying. Teens have always suffered from cyberbullying and suicide, but with the new filters

Republican President Ronald Reagan served as Commander in chief from January 1981 to January of
1989, holding his position in office for two terms. When Reagan took his oath into office, he inherited
prior damage from predecessor Jimmy Carter, including the issue of the Iranian Hostage Crisis as well
as damage inflicted by the Vietnam War from years prior. Reagan s start in politics was not the normal
approach. Coming from a successful career as a popular Hollywood actor, Reagan acquired his

Reagan inherited a misery index (the sum of the inflation and unemployment rates) of 19.99%, and
when he left office it had dropped to 9.72% . Under Reaganomics, 16 million new jobs were created.
Not only did he cut tax rates, but the Tax Reform Act of 1986 simplified the income tax code by
eliminating many tax shelters, reducing the number of deductions and tax brackets. Reagan s dream of
tax returns fitting on a postcard has been nullified as Congress has regressed and continued to make
the tax code more complex, necessitating a new push for reform. Reagan played a large part in
restrengthening the weak, ineffectual, and vulnerable military which left behind after President Carters

including stealth technology and precision weaponry, later used in Persian Gulf wars. Reagan s

Kashmir Issue
I remember when I used to leave my home for school early in the morning my mom used to instruct
me not to speak with the cops and when I used to return home safely in the evening she used to treat
me as if I had returned after a decade. Today nobody knows whether their near dear ones will return
home by the dusk. That s the fear that the people of Kashmir are living with.
Freedom, for Kashmir, is a search for the lost identity of its rich cultural religious class of medieval
world. The issue of Kashmir is not as ordinary as most of the people in India think. People of Kashmir
are dying dying for the future of their unborn. I just want to convey to the outer world the citizens of

Britishers gave independence to India without thinking that they have ruled India for Decades. Why
cannot India give Independence to Kashmir so that thousands of lives could be saved?
Indian Govt. has been claiming for years that Kashmir is their integral part cares for its own people.
Now the question is why the politicians are interested in ripping the article 370 from Kashmir why
innocent people are being killed on a daily basis as if they have any sales target (KILLING PEOPLE)
to achieve per day or month? Govt. agencies are trying to destabilize the economy of Kashmir and
shatter the only hope Kashmiris have.
The entire world is of the opinion today that the best solution to the problem of Kashmir is to allow
them to make their own choice. Why not Referendum? Trust me they have only two choices, either
INDIA or INDEPENDENT KASHMIR.
The problem arose from the day the British through its East India Company wanted to establish its
rule over India for which in order to improve its economy sold Kashmir for a meager Rs.75 lacks to
then Dogra Ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh under Amritsar Treaty. This led to QUIT KASHMIR
movement for a long period.

Pakistan. On 26th October, 1947 the state of Jammu and Kashmir was accessioned to India and this

Julian’s Racist Mother in O’Connor’s Everything That...
Julian s Racist Mother in O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge
She lifted the hat one more time and set it down slowly on her head. Two wings of gray hair protruded
on either side of her florid face, but her eyes, sky blue, were as innocent as they must have been when
she was ten. Where it not that she was a widow who had struggled fiercely to feed and clothe and put
him through school and who was supporting him still, until he got on his feet, she might have been a
little girl that he had to take to town.
This passage was taken from Everything That Rises Must Converge and describes Julian s mother,
who remains nameless in the story. It particularly describes her face and hair, which make her sound,
ironically, like an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She helps her son financially, and therefore does not try to be more accepting, even though he asks her
to be. She tries to give the black child a penny, and thus thinks that she is indeed acting more
accommodating to race, but succeeds only in drawing attention to her antiquated notions of gentility.
Thus the angelic description of her physical features is very ironic. Heavenly, and Christian images are
seen throughout this short story, such as Julian being described as St. Sebastian, and Julian s mother
reminding him that Julian s grandmother was a Godhigh. Perhaps the images foreshadow the
upcoming death of Julian s mother, and her belief that she absolutely deserves to go to heaven when
she dies, though she does not know she will die by the end of the story. Julian s mother believes she
has done everything right in her life, and though she is a very earnest and selfless woman, she is
hardly an angel.
The passage also alludes to Julian s mother being a child, or a ten year old, which may have been the
age when she knew Caroline, her darky nurse. At the end of the story, she calls out for Caroline,
probably because Caroline was the one who would have helped her when she was a child and in
trouble, but it is poignant that she is described as being young, and in the last seconds of her life, she
reverts back to the childhood that she still resembles, even after all her years and troubles. The passage
also says that if

Stem Cells And Its Effects On Development During The First...
Stem Cells: Embryonic stem cells are bodily cells that are in development during the first stages of
life. These are the cells that will go on to make all of the body tissues of the offspring, like neurons,
blood and skin cells. (Farrell et al.). With these human cells scientists can repair damaged tissue of
diseased patients as well as study the diseases they have. Only recently have stem cells been available
to collect and study. Currently, there are only a few methods of collection, such as retrieving them
from in vitro fertilization: Aborted fetuses. However, these methods do not supply a constant source of
the stem cells, and currently there are too few cultures of cells in labs to attempt any real medical
advancement with. So, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experiments show that stem cells could be the answer to solving many medical problems that humans
suffer from. Stem cells injected into damaged tissue repaired the cells there by dividing until all of the
old cells were replaced. However, 20% of test animals injected with stem cells developed untreatable
brain tumors (Clouthier). Stem cells can divide endlessly and each time one divides, the daughter cells
have a chance of being another stem cell, or a specialized cell for a specific function. Stem cells are
unspecialized, meaning they have no specific purpose other than to repair damaged cells by replacing
them. Adult stem cells are released in adults when tissue needs to be replaced, but stem cells from the
blastocyst, the five day old group of cells of an unrecognizable fetus, are where researchers are
interested most. In 1953, the precursor of what scientists know as stem cells was found by Leroy
Stevens, who was studying cancer with mice. In their tumors he found a mix of specialized and
unspecialized cells. In 1981, Martin Evans and Gail Martin derived stem cells from the embryos of
mice. This was the first time ever in history that any form of stem cell was isolated. Then in 1986,
researchers found that they could revert connective tissue collected from mice back into mytoblasts,

In the tragedy play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, one of the main comical characters is
the Nurse who is an old lower class servant for the Capulet s. She wears a houppelande (an outer
clothing, with a long, full body and flaring sleeves) and is indicated to be ugly and old by Mercutio in
Act two scene four. In about the beginning of the play, the Nurse appears to be a close friend and a
mother figure to Juliet although she betrays her at the end when telling her to forget Romeo and marry

To start, Shakespeare s opinion of what must be done for love is clear through the attempts the Nurse
makes to try and keep the relationship Romeo and Juliet were having a secret. The Nurse is the only
other person who knows about Romeo and Juliet s love for each other asides from Friar Lawrence, she
kept it a secret and supported Juliet s decisions even in times she didn t want to out of her love for

start, the Nurse technically raised Juliet because of Lady Capulet s absences if she wasn t around and
some other servant or Juliet s mom raised Juliet, Juliet may not be the person she is, she may never

The purpose of the immune system is to protect the body from the inside by eradicating certain
diseases before they are given the chance to spread or exacerbate. The lack of Earth s gravity
significantly simulates the process of aging, which is known to reduce the immune system.6 Since
humans naturally age regardless of traveling in space, this area of research proves to be a difficult field
to study. Fortunately, this process is accelerated in microgravity by a noticeable extent so some
observations that deviate from the normal deterioration of natural aging can be recorded. A NASA
researcher, Millie Hughes Fulford, has studied the specialized T cells, which quickly lose their
functionality as humans age or travel in microgravity.6 When diseases or infections are caught by the
immune system, the T cells are the group that fights and kills these foreign intruders. Without them,
the immune system has a higher risk of losing to the disease, which eventually leads to humans getting
sick.6 Along with Hughes Fulford s study on the T cells, NASA s integrated Immune and Clinical
Nutrition Assessment research groups have also done analysis on the concentration of cytokines.7
Cytokines are proteins that are vital to cell signaling and serve many different roles in the immune
system. By measuring the concentration of these proteins for 28 astronauts before and after traveling

Drugs Case For Legalizing Marijuana By Gore Vidal Case Study
What would be your solution to end drug addiction? In the essay, Drugs: Case for Legalizing

addiction. Marijuana along with other drugs should not be legalized because they will cause more
harm than good, begin leading to drug after drug, and would forever affect the world. Drugs aren t just
bad for some people, they are bad for everyone. Vidal states Label each drug with a precise

He argues that you can try them as many times as you want. I disagree, the trying will eventually turn

which if you know the extent, you shouldn t even consider trying it. Vidal states that, Yet it seems
most unlikely that any reasonably sane person will become a drug addict if he knows in advance what
addiction is going to be like. . It doesn t matter how sane you are, anyone could become a drug addict.
Everyone hits their low spot in life and sometimes the best people fall through and turn to something,
and that something could be drugs. Yes, there will be the ones who always become addicts, but it can
be prevented. If drugs were legalized, it will forever affect the world. It will not only affect people
now but people in the future. Vidal talks about the war on drugs and government at the end of his
essay. He states that nothing sensible will be done and it will only get worse . What would only get
worse is if drugs were actually legalized and people began to use them more and more. If the
government keeps fighting the war against drugs, a better solution will come up to end drug use and
drug addiction. Eventually drugs could be belittled. Vidal mentions that Every man, has the power

The Stranger Critical Lens Essay
The Stranger: Absurdity Through a Lens The theme of absurdity can be seen through three different
lenses in The Stranger, by Albert Camus: life, decisions, and reflection. The first lens in which the
reader can see absurdity in the novel is when the protagonist lives for the sensual pleasures of the
present moment. The second lens in which the reader can see absurdity in the novel is when the
protagonist absurdity of the protagonists decisions on how he does or doesn t decide to kill the Arab.
The third lens in which the reader can see absurdity in the novel is when the protagonist how he
reflects back on his decisions and life and concludes that life means nothing between birth and death.
The changes in the lenses of Meursault s absurdum are projected through the author s choice of
different language. The first lens in which the reader can see absurdity in the novel is when the
protagonist lives for the sensual pleasures of the present moment. Meursault is the protagonist who
lives for the sensual pleasures of the present moment. He is free of any system of values in his life.
And he would rather not behave in accordance with social norms. Meursault tries to live as honestly as
he can. He does only what he wants to do and befriending those whom he likes. Although he is blunt
with his relationships with people. He says things to his partner that a regular man or woman would

Essay Military Bearing
In the United States NAVY, military bearing is the root in which every service member practices in
order to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout ones military careers. The Eleven General
Orders of a Sentry, The Articles of the UCMJ, as well as our own Sailors Creed illustrates how a
military service member should conduct himself or herself on a daily basis, on and off duty.
Dependability is a major aspect of military bearing. Without dependability, one can neither perform
properly in the workspace nor be depended upon by their coworkers, or chain of command to carry
out their military duties adequately. A military member is required to be punctual, and reliable. Lack

Respecting senior officers is imperative in order to maintain good military order up and down the
chain of command. Punctuality is a key aspect of ones NAVY career. Tardiness can affect the mission
of the command. In such an event as General Quarte! rs, one can not afford to be late in carrying out
their assigned tasks, for the repercussions can be life threatening to ones fellow shipmates, as well as
to the integrity of the ship. Being late to watch can affect the quality of work being done in the work
environment. Quarters is a vital necessity within our NAVY where ones chain of command can brief
all hands on new information concerning either the workspaces or ones specific job. Watch standing is
every sailor s duty. Without a proper and thorough turnover it hinders the effectiveness of the watch
station. Missing information during turnover can result in wasted man hours, equipment damage, or
can compromise the security of the command in which one works. Physical readiness standards are
another element of military bearing. Physical readiness standards or better known as PRT s are held

interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou
Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement that
has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and explain
why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing the
primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating things in
the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the differences that
existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a need from their
respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated the areas they
excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most successful Empire to
be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire world, and that are still
in use today. Also, I determined the most important determining factor of an Empire being successful
was if it had an acceptable democratic and equal societal philosophy. Thus, I found all these successful

The Underdog s Demetrico Macias
If we are a sheep hiding in wolves clothing will we become a wolf? In The Underdogs novel
Demetrico Macias earns a place as general and leads a group of men for the rebel cause against the
government. We see that his reasoning for this is to finally get revenge for the way in which the
federalist treated him. Though he had a chance to kill some he did not because of his faith in Gods
timing and will. As the novel continues, we see that he is not sure why he is still fighting since his men
are doing the very thing he was fighting against. Maybe it s because he felt he could do some good by
being there to keep an eye on them enough to prevent anything too bad from happening yet he still
stayed and fought. All he really wanted was peace and to

Field Programmable Gate Array ( Fpgas )
ABSTRACT:
Placements of logical blocks in FPGA use many optimization algorithms in heuristic manner. Main
objective is to provide minimization in wire length during the task placement inside Reconfigurable
FPGAs, which will decrease the area, power and delay and increase the speed of execution.
Optimization algorithms are applied in the Benchmark circuits and the results are compared. Due to
the technological advancement, density of the devices increases so that necessitates improvement in
minimization of wire length. Hence this project, proposes an optimum solution for wire length
minimization.

INTRODUCTION
Field Programmable Gate array (FPGAs) is becoming important implementation platforms for the
digital circuits. The main requirement is to utilize the FPGA s static resources in proficient manner.
Most of the commercial FPGAs will have the same structure. A 2D array of programmable logic
blocks that can implement multiplicity of bitwise logical functions bounded by channels of wire
segments to interconnect logic block I/O.

Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy And Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy is a broad field of science that includes Raman Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy,
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Optical Spectroscopy and several other techniques.
Although the techniques are distinct, spectroscopy essentially is how energy and matter interact with
one another. Matter exhibits electromagnetic radiation that consists of wavelike properties. Ultimately,
this electromagnetic radiation can assist in speculating the structure of a molecule. Infrared
Spectroscopy for instance, can aid in identifying the functional groups present, but cannot determine
their precise location. When Infrared light is beamed at a molecule it causes the molecule to vibrate.
Different functional groups have their own unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Integrals indicate how many hydrogen protons there are in the set being measured. An integration of
two for example, signifies that there are two hydrogen protons present. The integration can also aid in
distinguishing whether atoms are in the same environment. Finally, data provided from NMR
designates what is defined as multiplicity or the splitting pattern; the number of protons on atoms
adjacent to the one whose signal is being measured. If a proton (or a set of magnetically equivalent
nuclei) has n neighbors of magnetically equivalent protons. Then the equation n+1 can be applied,
where n stands for neighboring protons.
With the data given from the DEPT 125 and the NMR scans on both H and C, we should be able to
evaluate the structure of the sample. The samples were given with their molecular formula. Since the
sample is also an alcohol, there is at least one hydrogen bonded to an oxygen. For the DEPT 35,
negative peaks indicate the presence and location of a CH2 bond. Identifying a CH2 group in the
DEPT 35 will assist in speculating the structure of the alcohol by narrowing down the possibilities.
The DEPT 35 also re affirms the prediction. Literature values are conducted experimentally and are
obtained in the lab manual on page for both carbon and hydrogen NMR. They ultimately help serve as
a guide, narrowing down the range and reaffirming the prediction. Different types of protons have

Taking a Look at Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt is one of the most famous First Ladies in history. Although she was awkward and
shy as a child, she married Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and became an influential figure to the world
as well as an inspiration to women everywhere in her own right. Eleanor was more than a president s
wife; she was an eloquent speaker, delegate of the United Nations, and overall an independent woman.
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City. She grew up with a wealthy
family in the Manhattan boroughs. She was the sister of two younger brothers: Elliott Jr. and Hall. Her
parents, Elliott and Ann, were socialites at the top of New York s society. Although her parents were
wealthy, it did not buy them their happiness. Before Eleanor was five, her father broke his ankle while
doing somersaults for the county circus. To reduce the pain of his injury, Elliott began drinking more
heavily. Because of Elliott s moodiness and depression, he set out to find a cure for himself. This
separated him from all of his children, including Eleanor. Without Eleanor s father with her, she
became discouraged. Her only wish was to make her father happy. Not only was Eleanor upset over
Elliott leaving; Anna was as well. Anna was furious with his decisions and started to neglect her
children. Eleanor s education was disregarded, so her mother hired her a tutor. While this was
occurring, Anna was diagnosed with an unknown illness. A few weeks after Ann had surgery, she died

Keystone Species Essay
A Keystone species is one that plays a unique and critical role in the way an ecosystem functions. In
short, the disappearance of a keystone species would start a domino effect other species in the habitat
would also decline and become extinct. The keystone species disappearance could affect other species
that rely on it for survival. Two examples of important keystone species in their communities are:
starfish and sea otters. More specifically, these species are found in the Pacific Northwest, but impact
their communities in different ways.
The starfish is a keystone species sometimes found in the Northwest intertidal zones. An intertidal
zone is also known as the seashore, and is the area that is above water at low tide, and underwater at
high tide. Starfish in their community are predators and they feed on mussels found in the same
ecosystem. When starfish have been eliminated from their ecosystem (experimentally), the mussel
population increases, and covers the rocky intertidal zones that once were ... Show more content on

The sea otters are very important to the beauty, and biodiversity of their marine ecosystems,
(specifically off the coast of California). They feed on grazing animals such as, sea urchins and
invertebrates, which feed on giant kelp. Without the sea otters, the sea urchins, invertebrates and any
other grazing animal can destroy kelp forests. Even more so, kelp forests are used as homes to the
wide diversity of animals that depend upon kelp habitat for survival. Also, kelp forests protect
coastlines from storm surges, and absorb massive amounts of damaging carbon dioxide from the
atmosphere. Another important fact about Sea otters is that they are sentinel species. Sentinel species
are animals used to detect danger and give off warnings of danger. When applying this concept to sea
otters, they reflect the health of California s coastal

Changing the Direction of the Psyche Throughout history, mankind has always been interested in
getting more of anything to the point at which some go absolutely insane. For example, mankind has
not been totally satisfied with the human mind and its natural capabilities, which has led to countless
attempts of manipulation. This manipulation of the psyche, a partially uncharted topic of human

Theme Of Altruism In Good To A Fault
ISU Response 1
The novel Good to a Fault by Marina Endicott, primarily revolves around the theme of altruism. The
novel begins with Clara who gets into a car accident with another family who happens to already be
dealing with many other conflicts. After the accident occurred, the mother of the victim s household
was admitted to the hospital and found out that she had cancer. It appears that the family were
financially unstable and that they were living in their vehicle moving from town to town, which met
with an accident. As a result of guilt and pure kindness, Clara takes in the kids and their grandmother
to their home. On the outside this seems like a kind, selfless act, but in her thoughts the readers
understand that she sometimes does not believe that being so generous to others that she barely knows
is good. The text so far and the overall theme of altruism made me question points in relation to my
inquiry topic: To what extent does literature have the ability to oversimplify reality? The author writes
primarily in third person, but also writes from each person s perspective through dialogue. The fact
that the author chose to include Clara s thoughts in addition to her actions, really enhanced my
understanding of Clara s personality. At first, Clara seemed like a kind individual helping others from
the goodness of her heart, but as I progressed into the novel I realized that she feels that being kind is
only solution and is pressured by it.

The Abrahamic religions refer to the three monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam,

Analysis Of Solar PV Power Generation
The choice of right type of converters for the different requirement in specific application has great
influence on the optimum performance of the photovoltaic system. In last two decades, enormous
developments have been taken place in the area of solar PV power generation. A large number of
research publications in these areas have led to this persuasion of a critical review of the available
literature. In particular, many inverter topologies have been introduced to incorporate several unique
features, such as a) intrinsic boost capabilities, b) isolation, c) high efficiency, d) good power
decoupling, e) dual grounding function, f) single stage solar power conversion capabilities, g) compact
design and h) good power quality, for both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, solar PV module voltage is low, ranging from 30 60V DC. To meet the demand of AC
loads, there is a need for inversion as well as a voltage boosting, whereas voltage boosting is
dependent on parameters like module voltage, the number of modules, and their connection [7 9].
Thus, it is clear that PCS must have following functionalities, such as voltage boosting (optional),
MPPT Tracking and inversion. The voltage boosting stage can be provided by either step up dc dc
converter or transformer followed by an inverter [10 13]. But placing the transformer to raise the
voltage level is not a good solution as it increases the cost, size, and volume of the overall system.
Moreover, it lowers the efficiency of the system. Hence transformerless topologies received lot of
attention in past few years [9]. Two types of transformerless solutions are suggested in the literature
for solar PV power generations, namely a) multi stage power conversion and b) single stage power
conversion [23 24]. Whether it is single stage or multiple stage power conversion the most critical part
of a solar PV system is the inverter, which will be discussed in next sections. At present, inverters are
the essential cause of breakdown of huge scale PV systems [12]. Moreover, in addition to the quality
problems, inverters give restricted power efficiency [7]. Normally, inverter efficiency is around 94%
and as the load diminishes the efficiency can

Firms buy productive resources in return for making factor payments at factor prices. Product market
is a mechanism that allows people to easily buy and sell products. The interaction between product

productive resources, which is derived from the demand for final goods and services or output. Firms
obtain the inputs or factors of production in the factors markets. The goods are sold in the products

  • 3. The Theory Of Economy And The Validity Of Emh To the extent to which you depart from that equality, if it is in your opponents favor, you are a fool, and if in your own, you are unjust. Although the notion of market efficiency has albeit rudimentarily been dealt with since the 16th century , it was only when Eugene Fama published his PhD and his subsequent article Efficient Capital Markets: A Review of Theory and Empirical Work in 1970 that the Efficient Market Hypothesis (hereafter EMH) was established. The fundamental argument offered by EMH proposes that the multiplicity and interaction of fully rational economic actors within a market will lead to the elimination of disparities between market prices and actual values and allow the former to randomly fluctuate around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being that news and exogenous shocks are by nature erratic, prices will share their randomness. Accordingly, as stipulated by the rational expectations model, investors will act in response to financial shocks mindful of the latters macroeconomic consequences. Furthermore, both efficiency and rationality have relative connotations within the economy and are contingent to different levels of market friction. Campbell, Lo, and MacKinley echo this view and argue that the concept of relativity is a more useful approach than the absolutist interpretations seen in traditional economic literature. Markets can, thus, still be efficient even if certain economic agents are irrational or if price volatility of assets cannot be grounded by fundamentals. Since certain market participants are irrational, specific stock market trades will not be based on a rational evaluation. Yet, Fama s sophisticated trader argument finds that the impact of the rational agents within the market is powerful enough to minimize the departure of actual prices from their fundamental value. Fama expanded EMH into three distinct forms weak, semi strong and strong form to allow the hypothesis to be tested in financial analyses. The form that is perceived, however, as the most reflective of EMH and will be employed by the paper is the semi strong. This form of market efficiency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Strengths Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince Machiavelli s The Prince can be utilized as a guidebook to answer: How best can a ruler maintain control of his state? Therefore, if any employer reads it as a how to book rather than just a work of political theory, they can be seen as the ruler while the state would be the rest of the employees. If this is followed like an agenda, the sole purpose of government is not the good of the people but the stability of the state and the perpetuation of the established ruler s control. It would define the city as an entity existing to serve its ruler rather than its populace. Obtaining the support of the people is not a goal in itself, but rather a means for ensuring that the city remains fortified. The mind of Machiavelli s prince is cold, calculating, ... A cautious prince should never believe that a completely safe course exists. Instead, he should prudently assess the risks presented by all options and choose the least risky course of action that should be taken. An exemplary prince inspires his subjects during rough times. However, in order to do so, he must convince the people that the hardships are only temporary. More importantly, he should create feelings of patriotism and enthusiasm amongst the city. In this way, when the chaos ceases to exist, the grateful and obliged people will love the prince all the more. • 5. Pros And Cons Of College Parking A True Nightmare in College: Parking Waking up on time, finding your classroom, as well as showing, are just some of the stressful parts of going to Cleveland State as a commuter, let alone finding a place to park. The necessity of finding a parking spot on campus close to the correct buildings is a must if you plan on commuting. On top of paying for tuition, students are asked to pay another fee to park on campus. One would think that if the parking pass was bought, a spot would be automatically a given fact, but for some they are hard to find. The question is should every student that buys a parking pass be granted a parking spot in the designated area of their choice? I think that if you spend the money to park you should have a spot no matter what time you come on campus. As a student you are expected to show up to class on time in order to get the most out of the class time. This can be hard for some students as well as professors because when they arrive on campus there is no place for to park. They then spend the time they gave themselves for leeway, driving around in search of a spot. This causes them to be late. In an effort to reduce the confusion of parking Cleveland State sells parking passes. The passes vary in price depending on where the student would like to park. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the student buys the pass it gives them a sense of relief because they no longer have to worry about parking, but it is sometimes not the case. It seems as though the university over sold the amount of passes compared to the number of spots available. Although the student paid the top price to park close to campus, they are made to park in lots that are on the other side of campus and the furthest from their class building. Students should be guaranteed a spot in the garage of their choosing if they paid to amount to be in that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Causes Of Teen Suicide Fifteen minutes fifty nine seconds then sixteen minutes hits, and another teen commits suicide due to something going on in their life. It is crazy that in just sixteen minutes another teen commits suicide. What would possibly be causing teen to take their life this quick? Could it be drug abuse, depression, stress, peer pressure, or whatever else you could think of? Teen suicide is the second leading cause of death of teens in the US. Parents wonder why teens commit suicide, and the worst part is that they will never know why it happened. The guilt fills them to the brim, and it makes the parents feel like they could have done something if they knew what the problem was. With the rates of teen suicide rising the questions are growing on why they took their life, however the main reason that teens commit suicide are because of peer pressure and emotional neglect. (just a little more hardcore on the argument) Teenage suicide is mainly caused through social media, so social media sites to have more intense and more controlled filters. 4,500 teens commit suicide every month due to cyberbullying (Cyberbullying Hotline). This is because there is someone out there that is so low that they want to bully someone else. With social media playing a huge roll today, there is constantly drama or bullying going on. Social media says that they filter out cyberbullying on their sites, but anyone can go to any social media platform and look at many bullying posts. Most of teen suicides are committed with firearms with 60 % (Kids Health). This is because most teens have some sort of access to a firearm making it the easiest way to commit suicide. All firearms should be locked in a safe and unloaded so that the risk of a teen suicide will be lessened. Hamm and her colleagues did not find consistent links between being bullied and self harm across the studies (Stephanie Pappas). However, cyberbullying helps to lead onto suicide because teens cannot even be in the comfort of the own homes without being bullied. A stricter filter should be added to social media sites so that the number of teen suicides will drop due to cyberbullying. Teens have always suffered from cyberbullying and suicide, but with the new filters the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Julian s Racist Mother in O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge She lifted the hat one more time and set it down slowly on her head. Two wings of gray hair protruded on either side of her florid face, but her eyes, sky blue, were as innocent as they must have been when she was ten. Where it not that she was a widow who had struggled fiercely to feed and clothe and put him through school and who was supporting him still, until he got on his feet, she might have been a little girl that he had to take to town. She tries to give the black child a penny, and thus thinks that she is indeed acting more accommodating to race, but succeeds only in drawing attention to her antiquated notions of gentility. Thus the angelic description of her physical features is very ironic. Heavenly, and Christian images are seen throughout this short story, such as Julian being described as St. Sebastian, and Julian s mother reminding him that Julian s grandmother was a Godhigh. Perhaps the images foreshadow the upcoming death of Julian s mother, and her belief that she absolutely deserves to go to heaven when she dies, though she does not know she will die by the end of the story. Julian s mother believes she has done everything right in her life, and though she is a very earnest and selfless woman, she is hardly an angel. The passage also alludes to Julian s mother being a child, or a ten year old, which may have been the age when she knew Caroline, her darky nurse. At the end of the story, she calls out for Caroline, probably because Caroline was the one who would have helped her when she was a child and in trouble, but it is poignant that she is described as being young, and in the last seconds of her life, she reverts back to the childhood that she still resembles, even after all her years and troubles. • 11. Stem Cells And Its Effects On Development During The First... Stem Cells: Embryonic stem cells are bodily cells that are in development during the first stages of life. These are the cells that will go on to make all of the body tissues of the offspring, like neurons, blood and skin cells. (Farrell et al.). With these human cells scientists can repair damaged tissue of diseased patients as well as study the diseases they have. Only recently have stem cells been available to collect and study. Currently, there are only a few methods of collection, such as retrieving them from in vitro fertilization: Aborted fetuses. However, these methods do not supply a constant source of the stem cells, and currently there are too few cultures of cells in labs to attempt any real medical advancement with. So, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Experiments show that stem cells could be the answer to solving many medical problems that humans suffer from. Stem cells injected into damaged tissue repaired the cells there by dividing until all of the old cells were replaced. However, 20% of test animals injected with stem cells developed untreatable brain tumors (Clouthier). Stem cells can divide endlessly and each time one divides, the daughter cells have a chance of being another stem cell, or a specialized cell for a specific function. Stem cells are unspecialized, meaning they have no specific purpose other than to repair damaged cells by replacing them. Adult stem cells are released in adults when tissue needs to be replaced, but stem cells from the blastocyst, the five day old group of cells of an unrecognizable fetus, are where researchers are interested most. In 1953, the precursor of what scientists know as stem cells was found by Leroy Stevens, who was studying cancer with mice. In their tumors he found a mix of specialized and unspecialized cells. In 1981, Martin Evans and Gail Martin derived stem cells from the embryos of mice. This was the first time ever in history that any form of stem cell was isolated. Then in 1986, researchers found that they could revert connective tissue collected from mice back into mytoblasts, what generates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose of the immune system is to protect the body from the inside by eradicating certain diseases before they are given the chance to spread or exacerbate. The lack of Earth s gravity significantly simulates the process of aging, which is known to reduce the immune system.6 Since humans naturally age regardless of traveling in space, this area of research proves to be a difficult field to study. Fortunately, this process is accelerated in microgravity by a noticeable extent so some observations that deviate from the normal deterioration of natural aging can be recorded. A NASA researcher, Millie Hughes Fulford, has studied the specialized T cells, which quickly lose their functionality as humans age or travel in microgravity.6 When diseases or infections are caught by the immune system, the T cells are the group that fights and kills these foreign intruders. Without them, the immune system has a higher risk of losing to the disease, which eventually leads to humans getting sick.6 Along with Hughes Fulford s study on the T cells, NASA s integrated Immune and Clinical Nutrition Assessment research groups have also done analysis on the concentration of cytokines.7 Cytokines are proteins that are vital to cell signaling and serve many different roles in the immune system. Midterm I INTRODUCTION In historic times, multiple Societies of people living and collaborating together in a community is what led to the formation of many Empires. Empires were comprised of similar groups of people that were most often geographically located within close proximities. It is interesting to compare and contrast three societies which became Empires: the Egyptian, Zhou Chinese, and Persian. Each Empire is responsible for contributing to a foundational advancement that has been used in future generations. I will compare the similarities and contrasts of each and explain why I believe the Persian Empire was the most successful Empire. I will start by addressing the primary similarities, which are that each Empire was responsible for innovating and creating things in the following areas of: mathematics, architecture, and philosophy. In contrast, the differences that existed were due to each Empire creating advancements and developments as a need from their respective demography, which means their environment and surroundings dictated the areas they excelled and innovated the most in. After researching these, I deemed the most successful Empire to be the one in which created the most widely used things throughout the entire world, and that are still in use today. Also, I determined the most important determining factor of an Empire being successful was if it had an acceptable democratic and equal societal philosophy. Thus, I found all these successful ... • 27. Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy And Spectroscopy Spectroscopy is a broad field of science that includes Raman Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Optical Spectroscopy and several other techniques. Although the techniques are distinct, spectroscopy essentially is how energy and matter interact with one another. Matter exhibits electromagnetic radiation that consists of wavelike properties. Ultimately, this electromagnetic radiation can assist in speculating the structure of a molecule. Infrared Spectroscopy for instance, can aid in identifying the functional groups present, but cannot determine their precise location. When Infrared light is beamed at a molecule it causes the molecule to vibrate. Different functional groups have their own unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Integrals indicate how many hydrogen protons there are in the set being measured. An integration of two for example, signifies that there are two hydrogen protons present. The integration can also aid in distinguishing whether atoms are in the same environment. Finally, data provided from NMR designates what is defined as multiplicity or the splitting pattern; the number of protons on atoms adjacent to the one whose signal is being measured. If a proton (or a set of magnetically equivalent nuclei) has n neighbors of magnetically equivalent protons. Then the equation n+1 can be applied, where n stands for neighboring protons. With the data given from the DEPT 125 and the NMR scans on both H and C, we should be able to evaluate the structure of the sample. The samples were given with their molecular formula. Since the sample is also an alcohol, there is at least one hydrogen bonded to an oxygen. For the DEPT 35, negative peaks indicate the presence and location of a CH2 bond. Identifying a CH2 group in the DEPT 35 will assist in speculating the structure of the alcohol by narrowing down the possibilities. The DEPT 35 also re affirms the prediction. Literature values are conducted experimentally and are obtained in the lab manual on page for both carbon and hydrogen NMR. They ultimately help serve as a guide, narrowing down the range and reaffirming the prediction. Different types of protons have distinct chemical shifts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Taking a Look at Eleanor Roosevelt Eleanor Roosevelt is one of the most famous First Ladies in history. Although she was awkward and shy as a child, she married Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and became an influential figure to the world as well as an inspiration to women everywhere in her own right. Eleanor was more than a president s wife; she was an eloquent speaker, delegate of the United Nations, and overall an independent woman. Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City. She grew up with a wealthy family in the Manhattan boroughs. She was the sister of two younger brothers: Elliott Jr. and Hall. Her parents, Elliott and Ann, were socialites at the top of New York s society. Although her parents were wealthy, it did not buy them their happiness. Before Eleanor was five, her father broke his ankle while doing somersaults for the county circus. To reduce the pain of his injury, Elliott began drinking more heavily. Because of Elliott s moodiness and depression, he set out to find a cure for himself. This separated him from all of his children, including Eleanor. Without Eleanor s father with her, she became discouraged. Her only wish was to make her father happy. Not only was Eleanor upset over Elliott leaving; Anna was as well. Anna was furious with his decisions and started to neglect her children. Eleanor s education was disregarded, so her mother hired her a tutor. While this was occurring, Anna was diagnosed with an unknown illness. A few weeks after Ann had surgery, she died ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Keystone Species Essay A Keystone species is one that plays a unique and critical role in the way an ecosystem functions. In short, the disappearance of a keystone species would start a domino effect other species in the habitat would also decline and become extinct. The keystone species disappearance could affect other species that rely on it for survival. Two examples of important keystone species in their communities are: starfish and sea otters. More specifically, these species are found in the Pacific Northwest, but impact their communities in different ways. The starfish is a keystone species sometimes found in the Northwest intertidal zones. An intertidal zone is also known as the seashore, and is the area that is above water at low tide, and underwater at high tide. Starfish in their community are predators and they feed on mussels found in the same ecosystem. When starfish have been eliminated from their ecosystem (experimentally), the mussel population increases, and covers the rocky intertidal zones that once were ... They feed on grazing animals such as, sea urchins and invertebrates, which feed on giant kelp. Without the sea otters, the sea urchins, invertebrates and any other grazing animal can destroy kelp forests. Even more so, kelp forests are used as homes to the wide diversity of animals that depend upon kelp habitat for survival. Also, kelp forests protect coastlines from storm surges, and absorb massive amounts of damaging carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Another important fact about Sea otters is that they are sentinel species. Sentinel species are animals used to detect danger and give off warnings of danger. For example, mankind has not been totally satisfied with the human mind and its natural capabilities, which has led to countless attempts of manipulation. This manipulation of the psyche, a partially uncharted topic of human knowledge, can be triggered through certain chemicals. • 33. Theme Of Altruism In Good To A Fault ISU Response 1 The novel Good to a Fault by Marina Endicott, primarily revolves around the theme of altruism. The novel begins with Clara who gets into a car accident with another family who happens to already be dealing with many other conflicts. After the accident occurred, the mother of the victim s household was admitted to the hospital and found out that she had cancer. It appears that the family were financially unstable and that they were living in their vehicle moving from town to town, which met with an accident. As a result of guilt and pure kindness, Clara takes in the kids and their grandmother to their home. On the outside this seems like a kind, selfless act, but in her thoughts the readers understand that she sometimes does not believe that being so generous to others that she barely knows is good. The text so far and the overall theme of altruism made me question points in relation to my inquiry topic: To what extent does literature have the ability to oversimplify reality? The author writes primarily in third person, but also writes from each person s perspective through dialogue. The fact that the author chose to include Clara s thoughts in addition to her actions, really enhanced my understanding of Clara s personality. At first, Clara seemed like a kind individual helping others from the goodness of her heart, but as I progressed into the novel I realized that she feels that being kind is only solution and is pressured by it. Analysis Of Solar PV Power Generation The choice of right type of converters for the different requirement in specific application has great influence on the optimum performance of the photovoltaic system. In last two decades, enormous developments have been taken place in the area of solar PV power generation. A large number of research publications in these areas have led to this persuasion of a critical review of the available literature. In particular, many inverter topologies have been introduced to incorporate several unique features, such as a) intrinsic boost capabilities, b) isolation, c) high efficiency, d) good power decoupling, e) dual grounding function, f) single stage solar power conversion capabilities, g) compact design and h) good power quality, for both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general, solar PV module voltage is low, ranging from 30 60V DC. To meet the demand of AC loads, there is a need for inversion as well as a voltage boosting, whereas voltage boosting is dependent on parameters like module voltage, the number of modules, and their connection [7 9]. Thus, it is clear that PCS must have following functionalities, such as voltage boosting (optional), MPPT Tracking and inversion. The voltage boosting stage can be provided by either step up dc dc converter or transformer followed by an inverter [10 13]. But placing the transformer to raise the voltage level is not a good solution as it increases the cost, size, and volume of the overall system. Moreover, it lowers the efficiency of the system. Hence transformerless topologies received lot of attention in past few years [9]. Two types of transformerless solutions are suggested in the literature for solar PV power generations, namely a) multi stage power conversion and b) single stage power conversion [23 24]. Whether it is single stage or multiple stage power conversion the most critical part of a solar PV system is the inverter, which will be discussed in next sections. At present, inverters are the essential cause of breakdown of huge scale PV systems [12]. Moreover, in addition to the quality problems, inverters give restricted power efficiency [7]. Normally, inverter efficiency is around 94% and as the load diminishes the efficiency can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firms buy productive resources in return for making factor payments at factor prices. Product market is a mechanism that allows people to easily buy and sell products. The interaction between product and factor markets involves the principle of derived demand. Derived demand refers to the demand for productive resources, which is derived from the demand for final goods and services or output. Firms obtain the inputs or factors of production in the factors markets. The goods are sold in the products markets. In most respects these markets are the same. Price is determined by the interaction of supply and demand, firm s attempt to maximize profits, factors can influence and change the equilibrium price and quantities bought and sold and the laws of supply and demand hold. Consumers (households), in pursuit of their self interest, have the incentive to look for lower prices. An incentive is the hope of reward or fear of punishment that encourages a person to behave in a certain way.
