Mobile Crisis Center Empowerment
For this blog post I researched the Way station organization. They do a lot of wonderful work to help
people who have a mental illness. The services that provide include homeless outreach, Mobile crisis
center, outpatient mental health clinic, residential Rehabilitation and residential crisis center. The
homeless outreach program is all about finding homeless individuals with mental health problems,
connecting them with services that can help them with their basic needs and treatment for their mental
illness. The mobile crisis center is a number that can be call for immediate help when one is having a

They provide a safe place for them to heal and teach them the Necessary skills they need to live a
productive life. I really like the idea that they reach out to the homeless who need treatment for a
mental illness because a lot of them are suffering and do not have the means to get treatment. The way
station relates perfectly to the gernalist social work practice in a lot of different ways. First way that it
relates is that it uses the empowerment theory. Here is a quote from their website about empowerment
Finding strength within. Encouraging the autonomy of both our consumers and staff using teamwork
to achieve individualized goals and personal growth and development. Assuring accessibility. This
quote was the essence of the empowerment theory because it is talking about using the client s
strengths to help them overcome any obstacles that are ones way of living a healthy life. Also, Way
Station is about helping people find the services that they need. This organization is amazing and
provides a bunch of services that help a lot of people in Maryland. It makes me happy to know that
there is a organization so close to where I live that helps thousands of people in need.it is just
awesome to know there is a place that can many different services that they so desperately

The Courage And Loyalty Have Been Used For Many Years
The themes courage and loyalty have been used for many years. The trait courage means to face
difficulty, challenges, and danger, even if there is an element of major risk and loyalty is to commit or
show devotion to something or someone. Courage and loyalty go together excellently as loyalty
towards someone or something can drive a person to do courageous acts. A great example is the
firefighters at the Chernobyl nuclear accident. These firefighters rushed into the nuclear power plant
after it failed in an effort to put out the fire and save people and after they were taken to the hospital
where they would die of radiation poisoning. The firefighters demonstrated courage and loyalty
towards the people who needed their help even though it was a dangerous situation. Not only are these
traits shown though out real life, they are also present in the media in the form of themes. Ranging
from television, movies, music, and literature, the theme loyalty and courage seem to be very popular.
One great example of these themes in the media is the book Home Truths , by Jill Maclean. The story
is about a fourteen year old boy who shows courage and loyalty towards his younger sister as he
protects her from their abusive father. Clearly, these stories have a definitive theme of loyalty and
courage but perhaps, one of the best examples of courage and loyalty is the novel The Chrysalids by
John Wyndham. The Chrysalids is a story about a boy named David who can telepathically
communicate

Jfk Surfactant
The hypothesis that I have states earlier is proven correct with the data I have collected. With higher
levels of surfactant, there was an exceedingly high increase in airflow. However, I was wrong about
airflow plateauing with increased surfactant. The more surfactant you added, there was increase in
airflow. It cannot be stressed enough how important surfactant is in the lungs. Without surfactant,
there are intricacies like alveoli collapsing, not enough airflow, and diseases for instance
pneumothorax or hyaline membrane disease. Approximately 50 years ago, John F. Kennedy, one of the
greatest presidents in American history, was born with hyaline membrane disease. This disease occurs
in premature infants, because surfactant is the last compound ... Show more content on

Such phenomenon would inflict pain when breathing, and evidently promote long term suffocation.
Many firefighters experience these types of symptoms when battling furious fires. The smoke and
chemicals that the firefighters breathe in actually evaporate a huge portion of their surfactant. That is
why in the news firefighters are reported suffering from smoke inhalation. They experience collapsed
alveoli and struggle breathing. It is also important to mention the complication that come along with
pneumothorax, and serious condition that involves aire between the lungs and intercostal muscles. We
know that when we breathe air flows down the trachea, into the bronchi, and spread throughout the
lungs. However, what happens when there is a hole punctures in one of the pathways for air. This
phenomenon would cause air to accumulate in the chest, instead of going into the lungs. We expand
our chest to increase volume, and decrease the pressure inside. Because atmospheric pressure is
exceedingly higher that it is in the lungs, air will flow from high pressure to low pressure. This
phenomenon cannot happen with

Christianity On-line Essay
Christianity On line
On line communities are a foreign concept to me. I have never joined one, or even been curious to see
what they are like. The only experience I have had with them is in middle school when I used to go
into chat rooms and talk to other teens. The only conversation involved there was about music and
movies. It has been years since I have ventured into anything on line except for checking my e mail or
downloading music. In order to write about on line communities, the assignment given to the class I
am in, I had to go on line and explore the culture myself. Since I had no idea what server to use or
what sites were popular, the task was a little daunting.
The first thing I looked at was The Lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first one I went to was one on hip hop music; it was a topic that interested me. I assumed that it
would have interesting posts about how people interpreted the lyrics to songs and what personal value
a song had to them. It turned out to be a homepage with topics like Why did political rap die out? and
Is Tupac really dead? Political rap hasn t been popular since the early 1990 s and Tupac was a famous
rapper who got shot about three years ago but his record label is still releasing his work. The site
obviously had not been updated in a while. There were about 5 or 6 people that voiced their opinion
with only a sentence or two of effort put into it. Many that responded to Why did political rap die out?
felt that rap today is influencing children to take the easy way out and place all value on money. Since
there was a small amount of people in each forum, I decided to go look at a topic where more people
would be involved.
I went to America On line s communities , and started reading topics in Christianity. There were many
fundamentalists posting their thoughts on why everyone should love Jesus. Like in reality, everyone
has their niche where he likes to go for religion, and there are the conservatives and liberals. In the
midst of the preaching, there were discussion boards on Atheism and how the Bible can refute those
arguments. It was evident an on line survey had been done in order to compile a list of

Immune To Reality By Daniel Gilbert Summary
Anybody can experience trauma, whether it s a man, a woman, or even a child. In fact, over half of the
population is expected to experience trauma at least once in their lifetimes. However, everyone will
respond to trauma in their own, unique, way, making it difficult to properly equip people with the tools
needed to heal from trauma in the event they experience it. Whereas the responses a person and his or
her body will have in the event of heart attack have been narrowed down to a small list, and can easily
be conveyed to the public through general guidelines or PSAs, the responses a person will have to
trauma can range anywhere from shrugging it off to suffering from post traumatic stress disorder
(PTSD). This is why the role of mental health professionals, such as therapists, is crucial in regards to
helping sufferers of trauma. These professionals are specially trained to be capable of identifying and
understanding the responses a person is having to a traumatic experience, as well as the optimal ways
to go about the healing process. In Daniel Gilbert s Stumbling on Happiness, specifically the chapter
titled Immune to Reality, he analyzes what he calls the psychological immune system, a defence
mechanism of the psyche which plays a prominent role in how a person will respond in the event of
trauma. While Gilbert outlines the mechanisms that cause people to respond to trauma in the way that
they do, Dana Becker, author of One Nation Under Stress, looks at the actual

Examples Of Victimless Crimes
There are many different crimes occurring on a daily basis. Crimes committed can vary from murder,
rape, and robbery involving victims. There are crimes known as victimless crimes, where victims aren
t involved, such as white collar crime, prostitution, and drug abuse. The question is, what makes a
victim, a victim? A victim is defined as a person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime,
accident, or other event or action.
Drugs, for example, the rate of drug abuse is constantly rising, killing nearly 200,000 people a year
(Overdose Death Rates, 2015). Death from drug abuse, and death from the violence of drugs differ in

Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their life. Most people
try to pick the career with the best financial gain and something they would like to do for the rest of
their life. Foremost it is wise to see what the job entails. Sport Management is perfect for those who
enjoy helping and working with people, especially when dealing with sports. The next part of the
decision making process is looking through the various schooling and training required. Lastly, take
into consideration the advantages and disadvantages. Usually with great salaries comes a big

director who specializes in promotion and development. Promotion and development directors are
hired by sports teams and school athletic programs to design and implement promotional campaigns
that will increase ticket sales (Sports Management 1). The biggest part of their job is to provide a
profit for the organization they are working for. Directors set up opportunities for the sports team to
make money off of sponsors. They also set up deals with advertisers to pay a sum of money in

1. Background on the Queens Botanical Garden and Visitor and Administration Building
What is the Queens Botanical Garden? Well, the Queens Botanical Garden is oasis located in
New York, where people coming from all different locations and cultures can involve themselves in
the beautiful gardens with many activates. This is the main goal, when the Queens Botanical
Garden first came about. In 1999, the architects of the Queens Botanical Garden began brainstorming
ideas of the garden s new visitor center. At this moment of time is when green building was first
coming about.
The visitor center of the Queen s Botanical Garden uses many sustainable and green construction
methods to its building. The Visitor and Administration buildings costs about 14 million dollars and
was planned by BKSK Architects. These buildings were one of the first constructions in the city to
receive a Platinum LEED rating. According to John Krieble, Queens structure is showing people that
it can be down. One reason the building received its Platinum rating was the over 20 percent of its
materials that is was constructed with was used was within
500 miles of its location.
Using materials closer to the construction site saves money, time, and energy that would have been
spent transporting the materials from a farther site. The visitor and administration center both were
opened on September 27, 2007.

Uplifting Book Of Psalms
I would have to say that there are several divisions of Psalms that I like to read and quote. To me, the
Book of Psalms is an uplifting book for me. A few that I enjoy are Psalms 23:1 6; 24:1 10; 27:1 3;
100:1 5 (Bible, KJV). My favorite is Psalms Division 46:1 11. This to me, this lets me know that God
is fighting on my behalf. He s going to intercede between me and the problem if I seek Him.
No matter what the adversity may be, God wants you to know that He is sufficient, that He is enough,
and that He can handle it if we allow Him too. Many times as Christians, we ask God to handle a
problem or situation for us, but yet we don t allow Him to fully have control of that situation. All He is

The Stone Angel Essay
The Stone Angel
Margaret Laurence s story of The Stone Angel is about the life Hagar Currie an emotionless, stubborn
and proud woman. Margaret Laurence uses this stone angel, originally bought by Hagar s father, to
embody the qualities of Hagar. These virtues are often identical to those one assumes are possessed by
the stone angel and are paralleled many times by Laurence. Throughout the novel, Hagar relives her
life through her memories.
Over the course of the novel, one realizes that Hagar s loneliness and depression are, in fact, brought

Effects Of Socialization
Socialization is defined as the process by which individuals acquire thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
appropriate to their positions in society, (Rohall 149). Individuals experience socialization beginning
the day they are born, and throughout most of their lives. It can occur through everyday observation
and interaction at every stage of development, or it can occur more formally though education and
mentors. Socialization is important to how individuals interact in society and it also plays a part in
most aspects of social psychology. An important aspect of socialization is our agents of socialization.

In a study titled Racial Socialization and Racial Identity: African American Parents Messages about
Race as Precursors to Identity, Enrique Neblett looked at the patterns of racial socialization in a
sample of 358 African American adolescents and identified 3 patterns of socialization experiences,
High Positive, Moderate Positive, and Low Frequency (Neblett 189). The study found that a large
portion of children reported that their parents highly emphasized on racial pride as well as taught them
about racial barriers. The remaining children provided information that not all parents convey
messages about race to their children. This shows that some individuals agents of socialization play a
large role in their understanding of their race. In the study, they also state that African Americans
awareness of race makes it possible for them to grapple with the significance of being African
American (Neblett 189). The children that were categorized as having High Positive or Moderate
Positive experiences with socialization are going to be more apt to understand their socialized position
in society. This is important because a strong ethnic identity is associated with greater psychological
well being, (Rohall 153). Therefore, children, especially children from minority groups, who are
socialized to have a strong identity and can understand the significance of being a specific race, are

Conflict In Lord Of The Flies Essay
War is the state of conflict and competition between opposing forces. Nonetheless, war can be caused
through emotional and psychological issues through two sides that obtain power from the support of
influential followers. William Golding exhibits this perception in the novel, Lord of the Flies as a
plane carrying a group of British schoolboys is shot down over the Pacific during a combat warfare in
Europe. In the midst of consternation and chaos, Ralph, one of the many young boys on the plane, is
able to distinguish the fear among the boys and use them as a barrier to survival. Ralph s leadership is
visible from the beginning as he is elected leader of the boys, on the other hand, Jack is cheated out of
becoming the leader as he resembles a militaristic attitude who is greedy to make rules and discipline
anyone for breaking his rules. A component of the novel consists of Ralph and Jack struggling to
invest in each others distinct power leading to the boys descending into savagery and the loss of
civilization during the events of the atomic war. Through the background of the atomic war, Golding
demonstrates the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

authority power from Ralph s democracy power showing the similarities of the democracy East versus

than two sides of power fighting to win. When one separates itself from a group, the leader and its
followers have to be alert of its own power and the other groups power that can uncover the
descendance of savagery and civilization. Conceding that war is a state of conflict, it is a group s

Long-Distance Trade And Economic Development.. Many Countries
LONG DISTANCE TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Many countries in the 15th
century were isolated from communication with outsiders from other countries, thus preventing
introduction of new ideas that would encourage either growth or change. They were bound by old
traditions that were hard to ignore but this also created a situation whereby these countries were
literally bursting at the seam for new ideas and growth. Finally ignoring years of isolationism, Chinese
and European hierarchies slowly began financing various expeditions seeking not only to become
trading partners with other countries, but also looking for new territories to explore and settle. These

Eventually, things began to change in China and it wasn t long before China became the first country
to develop paper money, sophisticated brokerage practices and banking institutions. There were a
number of factors that drove this; first there was the huge size of China itself. Other factors were the
difficulties involved in long distance trade using metal currencies and the minor role of the
government in regulating the economy. China also used a tribute system as the basis for trade and
restricted access of foreign traders to Chinese markets, particularly by limiting them to specified ports
under controls established by the central government. Under the Qianlong Emperor, the western
companies were limited specifically to Canton where they could have contact only with officially
designated firms, or Hong. On the other side of the world, trade significantly influenced the course of
history in West Africa (A). All the wealth made through trade was used to build larger kingdoms and
empires and to protect their trade interests, these kingdoms built strong armies. Kingdoms that desired
more control of the trade also developed strong armies to expand their kingdoms and protect them
from their competition. Long distance trade helped the local economy and also supported internal

The Effective Managing Of Data
The era of digitalization considered the data as an important information asset that is required to be

of the information (Conklin, White, Williams, Davis Cothren, 2012). The effective managing of data
helps in accessing the accurate information at right time for organizational decision making purposes
to achieve the long term business goals (Conklin et al., 2012). New innovations in the field of

Data managers are responsible for carrying out the data management. They could range from

The Varying Practices of Allopathic Medicine and...
There are to branches of medicine currently practiced in the United States Osteopathic Medicine and
Allopathic Medicine. Throughout this paper I am going to discuss the history, practices and beliefs of
Osteopathic Medicine as well as describe the differences between Allopathic Medicine and
Osteopathic Medicine.
Osteopathic Medicine has a deep rooted belief in its core values and puts a very strong emphasis on
non invasive, hands on holistic medical practices. Osteopathic medicine puts all its focus on its belief
that the manipulation of bones, joints and muscles can be used to diagnose and treat a variety of
ailments. Osteopathic medical principles believe that the body is capable of healing, maintaining and
regulating itself without the use of pharmaceutical drugs or invasive procedures that are seen as doing
more harm than good.
During the early 19th century there was the beginning of a new movement to revolutionize medicine.
In 1892 a physician by the name of Andrew Still, MD as a protest against the conventional medical
system founded the American School of Osteopathy in Kirksville, MO. Still believed strongly that the
current medical system of the time was full of corruption, not efficient and was in the habit of treating
the disease and illness and did not worry about the underlying issues that caused the affliction to begin
with. Still founded Osteopathy during a time in which he believed that conventional medicine was
doing more harm than it was good.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Distributed Database Systems
This paper discussed the Distributed database systems which are systems that have their data
distributed and replicated over several locations; unlike the centralized data base system, where one
copy of the data is stored in one location. the Distributed database system has many advantages:
1. Availability of the data in case of failure.
2. Parallelism: queries may be processed by several nodes in parallel.
3. Reduced data transfer.
It also has some disadvantages:
1. A distributed system usually exhibits more complexity and cost more than a centralized one.
2. Handling security across several locations is more complicated.
Types of DDBMS:

Communication Failures: failures in the communication system between two or more sites.
The 2 phase commit (2PC) protocol:
The major issue in building a distributed database system is the transactions atomicity. When a
transaction runs across into two sites, it may happen that one site may commit and other one may fail
due to an inconsistent state of transaction. Two phase commit protocol is widely used to solve this.
The 2 phase commit (2PC) protocol is a distributed algorithm to ensure the consistent termination of a
transaction in a distributed environment.
This protocol has two phases, the prepare and the commit phase. The protocol is executed by a
coordinator process, while the participating servers are called participants. When the transaction s
initiator issues a request to commit the transaction, the coordinator starts the first phase.
The coordinator initiates the first phase of the protocol by sending PREPARE messages in parallel to
all the participants. Each participant that is ready to commit first force writes a prepare log record to
its local stable storage and then sends a YES vote to the coordinator. On the other hand, each
participant that decides to abort force writes an abort log record and sends a NO vote to the

The Year Is 1941, War Is Waging In Europe Between The Axis
The year is 1941, war is waging in Europe between the Axis and Allies with the United States trying
to remain neutral. Yet, the nation was sharply divided between Isolationists, those who wanted to stay
away from conflict and Interventionists, those who wanted to intervene against the Nazi regime.
President Franklin Roosevelt belonged to the interventionists as he perceived the war as a life and
death struggle in defense of Western values which had become abandoned by Nazi Germany and their
allies. (Burtness and Ober 740) Yet, his presidential campaign promise was to keep America out of
war and with the public in disunity, Roosevelt had very little hope of rallying the American public to
declaring war. This neutrality would come to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The defense of Pearl Harbor was in the hands of two commanders, Short and Kimmel, and it was their
joint responsibility to coordinate the defense of Pearl Harbor by mutual cooperation (Burtness and
Ober 742). Short, however, played a major influence in the failed defense of Pearl Harbor. General
Short was commander of the American Army Hawaiian Department at the start of the 1941 and was
informed by the Army Chief of Staff at this time, General George Marshall, that two major perils that
he might face at Pearl Harbor. The first was people of Japanese descent on the island who are loyal to
Japan might engage in sabotage of Hawaiian infrastructure. The second consisted of a surprise raid by
enemy air forces and submarines. (Burtness and Ober 742 743). Short, however, began to have an
excessive fear of potential sabotaging to the point that it dominated the thinking of General Short, his
staff, and, indeed the entire Hawaiian Department of the Army. Because of this, Short enlisted Colonel
Harvey S. Burwell to help improve sabotage control for the Hawaiian Department. One of the
suggestions that was made to Short, by Burwell, was to bunch the aircraft together, without fuel or
ammunition, to afford better protection against sabotage. The problem associated with this was that
aircraft required four hours notice before they would be ready for combat. Burwell was given the
assumption by Short that

Speech On Diet And Nutrition
Anyone who is on a quest to live a long and healthy life should understands how important diet and
nutrition are to achieving the physically healthy body. Most of us delve deep into exercise and healthy
eating but we gloss over the topic of nutrition. There is a distinction that should be made between diet
and nutrition, these two concepts are mutually exclusive. Dieting involves making sure we eat right,
cut out the fats and the carbs, count daily calorie intake in our quest to either lose weight or get back
to a healthier size. Nutrition looks at the food we eat. It has to do with what our body derives from
what we feed it in terms of nutrients.
In order to understand the role of food in your life you need to be educated about the kinds of food
you should be eating and those that you need to steer clear of. The Cardinal Rule when it comes to
food and fitness is that you need food to function, food is the fuel that will get you through your
workout, help push you to do more and be more, however not all food is good for you. Beyond ...

Compare And Contrast Shin And Evans
In all my years of reading comics, few storylines have managed to moved me to tears.
With the help of Stephen Shin and Daniel Evans, Aquaman attempts to uncover the truth behind the
disappearance of his mother, Queen Atlanna. The use of Shin and Evans to solve at Atlantean problem
to an extent showcased the unity of land and sea that the series has constantly thrived to achieve. Even
though he is merely a supporting character in the arc, the death of Daniel Evans was one of the
unexpected highlights thinking about it still makes me tear up a little. Aquaman s trust in Evans
coupled with his guilt over the events of Burden of Curiosity greatly magnified his transition from a
naïve archeologist to an unlikely hero.
Another feature of Maelstrom was the subplot involving Gorilla City. Not only was this unexpected,
the plot extends the New 52 history of Atlantis. The reveal that Gorilla City was at one point in time a
distant colony of Atlantis, Katangala, and the connection to high heightened cerebral prowess of the
apes showed how intertwined the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the arc, Parker manages to simultaneously introduce new information, such as the use of
pocket dimensions, and close up existing plot holes, namely the prophecy behind the purple eyed
Atlanteans. Bits and pieces of Atlantean history is laid out strategically as the story progresses which
minimizes the possibly of information overload while managing to keep the readers intrigued.
Although the final confrontation with Atlanna followed the generic template, the strong writing and
artwork manages to overshadow the weak points and allows for Arthur and Atlanna take center stage
throughout the climactic battle. Atlanna s expressions of sadness at leaving Arthur again and pride
from seeing her son become such an amazing man somehow manages to blend perfectly which

The Pros And Cons Of Secularism
If I were a dictator, religion and state would be separate. I swear by my religion. I will die for it. But it
is my personal affair. The state has nothing to do with it. The state would look after your secular
welfare, health, communications, foreign relations, currency and so on, but not your or my religion.
That is everybody s personal concern! (Gandhi). When debating the word secularism , many people
will dispute that the public has become less religious and stopped believing in God. They assume that
a secular government is an anti religious one: a government that aims to reject religions. However,
thinking deeply in the meaning of secularism will lead us in another path. In fact, secularism is the
belief that religion should not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of secularism appears a little bit strange for some people and some countries. At first, fanatic
people refuse to make any change to their lives and consider this concept (secularism) is illegal and
will separate them from God. In addition, separating religion from the state is a difficult task. And as
Elizabeth Shakman Hurd mentioned: Secularism is unequipped to serve as a universal model of public
life, either domestically or internationally. The creation of the category of religion and its demarcation
from politics is a highly politicized decision that is not subject to a final settlement, and the pretense of
a final settlement exacerbates international conflict rather than diminishing it. The religion/politics
negotiation is a fluid site of authority with complex relations to the state system, the global economy,
international ethics and other more heavily theorized locations of power in international relations (
Elizabeth Shakman Hurd, Abstract). The most difficulty that faces secular people is that they are
assailed by all the religions because these secular people are minorities and cannot afford the pressure
imposed on them. In view of this fact, each secular human being will be neglected and considered as
enemy which is not the case. Therefore, being a secular person may lead to different

Russian Famine Research Paper
Famine is something that Russia could be said to be very familiar with. Some of the greatest tragedies
Russia experienced under Soviet rule were the famines that occurred in 1921, 1932, and 1947. The
scope of the devastation is still unparalleled within the country s borders and around the globe. While
the damage and hardship endured during these trying times is uncontested, their specific causes are
still held in contention.
The first famine resulted as an economic disturbance caused by the tail ends of World War I, the 1917
Revolution, and the Soviet Civil War. Infrastructure, specifically the railroads were in a state of
disrepair and were incredibly unreliable, resulting in problems involving the transportation of food
supplies across the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this were truly the case then there would have been more than enough to feed every peasant even if
the grain was distributed poorly. This suggests that the official figures are not to be trusted and have
likely been exaggerated. It is possible that the statistics recorded were manufactured before the actual
harvest as projections for the oncoming season or biological yields. Famine was widespread
throughout the country, hitting the urban areas and countryside extremely hard. The estimates of the
harvest must have been extremely exaggerated because the death toll was skyrocketing and many of
the typically favored peoples (the industrial workers and city dwellers) were dying from starvation
also. However, just because starvation and disease was rampant does not mean that everyone suffered
equally. The death toll in the Ukraine in particular was abnormally high. Some of this can be blamed
on the still harsh requisitions taken from the Ukrainian peasants. One of the major differing points in
the treatment between the Ukrainian peasants and other Russian citizens involved emigration. The
desperate living conditions brought peasants to the cities and urban workers to the countryside all in
search of food and a more stable life. For the first time since the tsar was in power internal passports
were given to Russian citizens. They were able to relocate to find better prospects for themselves

Looking at the operational system at Delta Rice Mill Operations, there are obviously some problems
existing there.
Firstly, they are having problem in their equipment of production. As it is mentioned in the case study,
the Delta Factory was acquired in 1976, it is a long period of time and slowing down in capacity is an
unavoidable thing. The old and unreliable equipment would lead to the breakdown in production
frequently. Moreover, the old system would cost the company high in maintaining. Hence, the old and

Moreover, the arbitrary set of rules and corporate policy has been further modified at Delta Rice Mill
due to old, unreliable equipment. For the next reason, the problem bases on worker s willing to work
on or dedicate one line to each size. Actually, it may decrease the productivity in some cases. Last but
not least, the Delta Rice Mill want to increase their sales and remain the product s quality as well as
ensure to be on time for every shipments all time of year. For those mentioned reason above, if Delta
Rice Mill wants to rise their performance in production and reduce the cost, they have to deal with
those dilemmas as well.
Solutions:
In the first solution for up to date infrastructures, we found out that there are two ways to deal with.
Replacing the production system is he first way. In this case, we just replace the parking line but not
processing line. However, as a result it will rocket the cost in investment and it may need a longtime
to get the money back. Thus it is just suitable for a long term solution planning. The other key for this
issue, we should make a comparison between the total cost of the current production system with
overtime work hours with the total cost of the regular work hours however Delta Rice Mill will tend to
produce a same amount of production for every months with no overtime work hours. On the other

Essay The High Commercial Use of Asbestos in Construction
Asbestos has been proved to be reliable in construction as adhesives, resistance to heat, high tensile
strength, and budget safe. There are many different types of asbestos like, amphibole and chrysotile.
The most common type is chrysotile, or white asbestos and the chemical formula is Mg3(Si2O5)
(OH)4. This chemical is often used all throughout schools making children chief victims. Though
reliable as structural support, asbestos has been proved to be a ticking time bomb. During the 1980s
asbestos would be exposed to 35% of school children. The problem is the asbestos flake off and

The Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act of 1990 states that all elementary and

This graph proves the high relevance of asbestos in the 1980s. As time progressed the problems with
the chemical was proved. As of right now there is a ban on asbestos in commercial items. Although,
the chemical is still prevalent and attacking because the removal of it is as deadly as the chemical
itself. Its proven that, The removal process releases asbestos fibers which could result in more cancer
in the workmen than would have resulted in the usual occupants had the asbestos been left in place. In
the situation where you need to combat asbestos the best method is to wet the asbestos causing the
fibers to stay intact. When you disrupt the fibers they spread and become exposed. It s a tricky
chemical to treat and it s naturally man made for example, hidden under rocks, resulting in the current
existence.
This problem is certainly not only current in the United States. The graph above covers the countries
who are the top consumers, producers, and exporters of asbestos. Also, the countries who

Meanwhile, China is the biggest consumer. Although, countries with the biggest population like China

Sleep Disruption Research Paper
If you are to move the start time students will be relieved from stress and their moods will better.
Sleep disruption increases the level of the stress hormone cortisol. Lack of empathy, sense of humor,
and mood are similarly affected. (Foster 10) Because students are so stressed out about not having
enough time to study at night they are not about to sleep, causing them to be in a bad mood the next
morning. You would not only be doing the students a favor but also the teachers who have morning
classes. Poor amount of sleep not only affects students moods, it also affects their memory and
judgment according to the American Psychological Association. With more sleep, students will be able

Dentistry Personal Statement
Over the past ten years, pursuing a career in dentistry has been a truly rewarding experience. I first
started studying dentistry in Egypt. My education and experience there prepared me to enter the dental
field. Later on, my internship training in Qatar cultivated my interest in how technology plays a role in
health care. I recognized that while technological advances have progressed our service for patients, it
has also necessitated further knowledge and skills for practitioners. As I moved to Canada, I learned
that I would have to complete additional training in order to be able to practice dentistry here. Being
committed to this career path, I took up this challenge with a great deal of dedication and hard work. I
chose to view this requirement as an opportunity to train with world class researchers and
practitioners.
As a student at the University of Toronto, I was encouraged towards innovation, research and to keep

Commentary on Alphonso Lingis s article, The World as a Whole
Martin Heidegger s work in Being and Time elucidated a phenomenological ontology in which death
and anxiety function as the imminent possibility of impossibility, circumscribing Dasein and
inscribing weight to Dasein s temporal existence. He constructs an individual whose ontological
whole is made of three fundamental elements that function as a whole; understanding, feeling and
action. This being, Dasein (translated as Being There), exists in the world, and Heidegger constructs
Dasein s ontology as being in the world. This is the way Alphonso Lingis predicates his understanding
of Heidegerrian phenomenology in an essay from Research in Phenomenology entitled The World ...

Heidegger spoke of Dasein intentionally. He did not want to limit his language to that of Heidegger
and speak of just the human, because the limitations this term would imply. Being and Time is a very
complex work, this article does a very good job at tackling Heidegger s project, but it focuses on a few
things. Lingis discusses Dasein as being constitutive of the world , Dasein is being in the world.
Dasein is in the world, and dwelling is characterized as care , states Lingis. He shows us how Dasein
sees the things in the world as a field of equipment for use, The practicable field, a layout of relays, is
later characterized as openness. This openness is suspended in the abysses of nothingness, death.
Dasein is thrown into the world, Heidegger shows us how we are born into a world which we have not
constructed, which we cannot control. The Others are already there, we encounter them when we
encounter their buildings, their constructions, their language. The common world precedes and makes
possible the perceptual field of any individual. The language, the interpretive system of Das Man
precedes and makes possible any singularizing interpretation of one s own situation. Dasein is being in
the world with others. Dasein s function is projection, Dasein is temporal, and as we ve said Dasein
has three facets: understanding,

The services that provide include homeless outreach, Mobile crisis center, outpatient mental health clinic, residential Rehabilitation and residential crisis center. The homeless outreach program is all about finding homeless individuals with mental health problems, connecting them with services that can help them with their basic needs and treatment for their mental illness. They provide a safe place for them to heal and teach them the Necessary skills they need to live a productive life. I really like the idea that they reach out to the homeless who need treatment for a mental illness because a lot of them are suffering and do not have the means to get treatment. The way station relates perfectly to the gernalist social work practice in a lot of different ways. First way that it relates is that it uses the empowerment theory. Here is a quote from their website about empowerment Finding strength within. Encouraging the autonomy of both our consumers and staff using teamwork to achieve individualized goals and personal growth and development. Assuring accessibility. This quote was the essence of the empowerment theory because it is talking about using the client s strengths to help them overcome any obstacles that are ones way of living a healthy life. Also, Way Station is about helping people find the services that they need. This organization is amazing and provides a bunch of services that help a lot of people in Maryland. It makes me happy to know that there is a organization so close to where I live that helps thousands of people in need.it is just awesome to know there is a place that can many different services that they so desperately ... • 3. The Courage And Loyalty Have Been Used For Many Years The themes courage and loyalty have been used for many years. The trait courage means to face difficulty, challenges, and danger, even if there is an element of major risk and loyalty is to commit or show devotion to something or someone. Courage and loyalty go together excellently as loyalty towards someone or something can drive a person to do courageous acts. A great example is the firefighters at the Chernobyl nuclear accident. These firefighters rushed into the nuclear power plant after it failed in an effort to put out the fire and save people and after they were taken to the hospital where they would die of radiation poisoning. The firefighters demonstrated courage and loyalty towards the people who needed their help even though it was a dangerous situation. Not only are these traits shown though out real life, they are also present in the media in the form of themes. Ranging from television, movies, music, and literature, the theme loyalty and courage seem to be very popular. One great example of these themes in the media is the book Home Truths , by Jill Maclean. The story is about a fourteen year old boy who shows courage and loyalty towards his younger sister as he protects her from their abusive father. Clearly, these stories have a definitive theme of loyalty and courage but perhaps, one of the best examples of courage and loyalty is the novel The Chrysalids by John Wyndham. The Chrysalids is a story about a boy named David who can telepathically communicate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jfk Surfactant The hypothesis that I have states earlier is proven correct with the data I have collected. With higher levels of surfactant, there was an exceedingly high increase in airflow. However, I was wrong about airflow plateauing with increased surfactant. The more surfactant you added, there was increase in airflow. It cannot be stressed enough how important surfactant is in the lungs. Without surfactant, there are intricacies like alveoli collapsing, not enough airflow, and diseases for instance pneumothorax or hyaline membrane disease. Approximately 50 years ago, John F. Kennedy, one of the greatest presidents in American history, was born with hyaline membrane disease. This disease occurs in premature infants, because surfactant is the last compound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such phenomenon would inflict pain when breathing, and evidently promote long term suffocation. Many firefighters experience these types of symptoms when battling furious fires. The smoke and chemicals that the firefighters breathe in actually evaporate a huge portion of their surfactant. That is why in the news firefighters are reported suffering from smoke inhalation. They experience collapsed alveoli and struggle breathing. It is also important to mention the complication that come along with pneumothorax, and serious condition that involves aire between the lungs and intercostal muscles. We know that when we breathe air flows down the trachea, into the bronchi, and spread throughout the lungs. However, what happens when there is a hole punctures in one of the pathways for air. This phenomenon would cause air to accumulate in the chest, instead of going into the lungs. We expand our chest to increase volume, and decrease the pressure inside. Because atmospheric pressure is exceedingly higher that it is in the lungs, air will flow from high pressure to low pressure. This phenomenon cannot happen with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Christianity On-line Essay Christianity On line On line communities are a foreign concept to me. I have never joined one, or even been curious to see what they are like. The only experience I have had with them is in middle school when I used to go into chat rooms and talk to other teens. The only conversation involved there was about music and movies. It has been years since I have ventured into anything on line except for checking my e mail or downloading music. In order to write about on line communities, the assignment given to the class I am in, I had to go on line and explore the culture myself. The first one I went to was one on hip hop music; it was a topic that interested me. I assumed that it would have interesting posts about how people interpreted the lyrics to songs and what personal value a song had to them. It turned out to be a homepage with topics like Why did political rap die out? and Is Tupac really dead? Political rap hasn t been popular since the early 1990 s and Tupac was a famous rapper who got shot about three years ago but his record label is still releasing his work. The site obviously had not been updated in a while. There were about 5 or 6 people that voiced their opinion with only a sentence or two of effort put into it. Many that responded to Why did political rap die out? felt that rap today is influencing children to take the easy way out and place all value on money. Since there was a small amount of people in each forum, I decided to go look at a topic where more people would be involved. I went to America On line s communities , and started reading topics in Christianity. There were many fundamentalists posting their thoughts on why everyone should love Jesus. Like in reality, everyone has their niche where he likes to go for religion, and there are the conservatives and liberals. In the midst of the preaching, there were discussion boards on Atheism and how the Bible can refute those arguments. It was evident an on line survey had been done in order to compile a list of ... • 6. Immune To Reality By Daniel Gilbert Summary Anybody can experience trauma, whether it s a man, a woman, or even a child. In fact, over half of the population is expected to experience trauma at least once in their lifetimes. However, everyone will respond to trauma in their own, unique, way, making it difficult to properly equip people with the tools needed to heal from trauma in the event they experience it. Whereas the responses a person and his or her body will have in the event of heart attack have been narrowed down to a small list, and can easily be conveyed to the public through general guidelines or PSAs, the responses a person will have to trauma can range anywhere from shrugging it off to suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is why the role of mental health professionals, such as therapists, is crucial in regards to helping sufferers of trauma. These professionals are specially trained to be capable of identifying and understanding the responses a person is having to a traumatic experience, as well as the optimal ways to go about the healing process. In Daniel Gilbert s Stumbling on Happiness, specifically the chapter titled Immune to Reality, he analyzes what he calls the psychological immune system, a defence mechanism of the psyche which plays a prominent role in how a person will respond in the event of trauma. While Gilbert outlines the mechanisms that cause people to respond to trauma in the way that they do, Dana Becker, author of One Nation Under Stress, looks at the actual ... • 11. Uplifting Book Of Psalms I would have to say that there are several divisions of Psalms that I like to read and quote. To me, the Book of Psalms is an uplifting book for me. A few that I enjoy are Psalms 23:1 6; 24:1 10; 27:1 3; 100:1 5 (Bible, KJV). My favorite is Psalms Division 46:1 11. This to me, this lets me know that God is fighting on my behalf. He s going to intercede between me and the problem if I seek Him. No matter what the adversity may be, God wants you to know that He is sufficient, that He is enough, and that He can handle it if we allow Him too. Individuals experience socialization beginning the day they are born, and throughout most of their lives. The study found that a large portion of children reported that their parents highly emphasized on racial pride as well as taught them about racial barriers. The remaining children provided information that not all parents convey messages about race to their children. This shows that some individuals agents of socialization play a large role in their understanding of their race. In the study, they also state that African Americans awareness of race makes it possible for them to grapple with the significance of being African American (Neblett 189). The children that were categorized as having High Positive or Moderate Positive experiences with socialization are going to be more apt to understand their socialized position in society. China also used a tribute system as the basis for trade and restricted access of foreign traders to Chinese markets, particularly by limiting them to specified ports under controls established by the central government. Under the Qianlong Emperor, the western companies were limited specifically to Canton where they could have contact only with officially designated firms, or Hong. Osteopathic Medicine has a deep rooted belief in its core values and puts a very strong emphasis on non invasive, hands on holistic medical practices. Osteopathic medicine puts all its focus on its belief that the manipulation of bones, joints and muscles can be used to diagnose and treat a variety of ailments. In 1892 a physician by the name of Andrew Still, MD as a protest against the conventional medical system founded the American School of Osteopathy in Kirksville, MO. At first, fanatic people refuse to make any change to their lives and consider this concept (secularism) is illegal and will separate them from God. In addition, separating religion from the state is a difficult task. And as Elizabeth Shakman Hurd mentioned: Secularism is unequipped to serve as a universal model of public life, either domestically or internationally. The creation of the category of religion and its demarcation from politics is a highly politicized decision that is not subject to a final settlement, and the pretense of a final settlement exacerbates international conflict rather than diminishing it. The religion/politics negotiation is a fluid site of authority with complex relations to the state system, the global economy, international ethics and other more heavily theorized locations of power in international relations ( Elizabeth Shakman Hurd, Abstract). The most difficulty that faces secular people is that they are assailed by all the religions because these secular people are minorities and cannot afford the pressure imposed on them. This suggests that the official figures are not to be trusted and have likely been exaggerated. It is possible that the statistics recorded were manufactured before the actual harvest as projections for the oncoming season or biological yields. Famine was widespread throughout the country, hitting the urban areas and countryside extremely hard. The estimates of the harvest must have been extremely exaggerated because the death toll was skyrocketing and many of the typically favored peoples (the industrial workers and city dwellers) were dying from starvation also. However, just because starvation and disease was rampant does not mean that everyone suffered equally. The death toll in the Ukraine in particular was abnormally high. Some of this can be blamed on the still harsh requisitions taken from the Ukrainian peasants. One of the major differing points in the treatment between the Ukrainian peasants and other Russian citizens involved emigration.
