Hudson River Analysis
Geography is another of Nathan s favorite science subjects. He enjoys locating geographical
features on maps and globes, and readily identifies cardinal points, land masses and bodies of
water. He also studies different types of maps (physical, political, and road) to learn various legend
keys.
We ve covered physical and political features such as major rivers, mountain ranges, and most
powerful countries. All places discussed during our history lessons, routine conversations, and news
stories also are pointed to on a map.
Nathan has explored nearby geographical features such as Beaverdam Lake and Moodna Creek.
Prior to our recent excursion with his 4 H club, he read about the history of the Hudson River and
discussed its health at the outing. He explored Schunnemunk Mountain during a hike on one of its
trails and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He s located four caches so far while appreciating the challenge of the hunt and the terrain around
him. We used both a GPS and compass with a map during these chases.
We watched the sun rise on the east, and followed its path across the sky while painting hash
marks on a sundial in the backyard at the top of every hour, and discussing why day and night, and
seasons happen. Viewing the recent partial solar eclipse was a most opportune highlight on this
topic. Nathan created a Styrofoam model of the solar system using balls mounted with wooden
skewers on a base, and the sunrays were represented by toothpicks. Each celestial body was painted
characteristically with poster paint.
Nathan also attended an Earth, Moon, and Sun projection at the Hudson River Planetarium, wherein
lunar phases, eclipses, and other puzzles were explored. We introduced the study and identification
of constellations and dabbled with sky maps and a stargazing mobile app as initial

DELEGATION AND DECENTRALIZATION
Advantages and Disadvantages of Decentralization
In an organization, centralized way of making a decision entails less autonomy to everyone except
the central leadership. In contrast, decentralization involves delegation of responsibility and the
associated decision making powers across various levels in the organization. Let us discover the
pros and cons of this concept.
A central command structure derives from an autocratic style of management. Autocracy is not
necessarily an intention and could be incidental. For example, typically start ups and business that
have just been founded are naturally autocratic with the founding members primarily running the
show. Gradually, as the business grows and the headcount expands, the... Show more content on

The adoption of organizational standards and best practices is also facilitated by a decentralized
setup. Transparency in process ensures that it is easy for the various local teams to emulate and
adopt the methods and processes that brought success to a team located elsewhere.
One of the major advantages of decentralized way of taking decisions is witnessed during a sudden
change in the local business environment such as the onset of recession or currency devaluation,
etc. Businesses are able to respond and adapt quickly to these changes when authority is
decentralized.
Retail businesses like Walmart and hotel chains often benefit from having a decentralized style of
management. Businesses, where quick decisions amidst fast paced changes in environment are the
order of the day, stand to benefit from decentralization.
Disadvantages of Decentralization
Too much emphasis on localized way of taking decisions may end up blurring the bigger picture.
As you go down the corporate ladder, employees seem to lose sight of the organizational vision.
A highly decentralized organization can be the battleground for unhealthy competition between
local managers leading to lack of co operation and coordination. As a result, interdependent
functions may suffer and resolving interdepartmental conflicts is difficult when authority has been
delegated. In addition, there is costly duplication

How Does Laurie Halse Anderson Use Allusions In Speak
On a dark august night, Melinda and Rachel went to an end of summer party. Feeling out of
place, Melinda resorted to drinking. Once she took a step out, she was confronted and assaulted
by a senior named Andy Evans. Melinda felt small and just wanted to say no but the words couldn
t find their way out. That was the night that Melinda got raped. Melinda s conflict with herself
continues as she tries to overcome the events of that night. In the realistic fiction novel Speak by
Laurie Halse Anderson, the author uses symbolism and allusions to show how Melinda struggles to
overcome the rape throughout the novel. Symbolism is widely used in Speak to suggest something
more of an object. Colors are big symbols as they convey Melinda s thoughts... Show more content

To illustrate this, Anderson compares Melinda to a dryad (p.17). Dryads originate from Greek
mythology and it is the female spirit of a tree. The life of a dryad is connected to a tree. Dryads
also tend to be shy creatures. Metaphorically, the author is trying to imply that teenagers are in
the stage of development and growth, just like plants. Melinda is still growing and overcoming
her rape. Anderson also makes allusions to literature to compare and contrast Melinda s story to
stories of other characters. To exemplify, Maya Angelou is mentioned quite frequently. In her
novel I know why the caged bird sings, (p.50) she writes about how she was raped by Mr.
Freeman. She can t talk and is helped by someone with a name of a plant. Anderson uses irony
since in the novel Speak, Mr. Freeman is the one who helps Melinda grow. Also, metaphorically
comparing Angelou and Maya, we can foreshadow what happens next (the rape). When Melinda
finds her closet, she discovers a shattered mirror which symbolizes her past and she tries to cover
it up with a picture of Maya Angelou (which is not better.) The poster which symbolizes her rape
and secrets doesn t help Melinda grow. Another example would be The Scarlet Letter by
Nathaniel Hawthorne. (p.100) Melinda mentions [Hester] is kind of quiet. We would get along.
(p.101) Melinda is comparing herself to Hester Prynne, a character in Hawthorne s novel who
has to wear a red letter A to mark her guilt. Both Melinda and Hester feel like outcasts and are a
shame in society. Anderson also uses allusions by mentioning the suffragettes (p.154). The
suffragettes were people who stood up against unfair treatment of women. To get extra credit,
Melinda has to write a report and present it to the class. Being that Melinda doesn t speak, she and
David Petrakis, her lab partner, make a plan. Instead of talking, Melinda gives

Everyone has access to Microsoft Excel and it is possible to build very effective budget systems
with this software. You need to be particularly aware of the risks of spreadsheets and the ease with
which errors can creep in.
Don t exclude the use of specialist budgeting software. Well implemented, it can dramatically
reduce timescales and improve accuracy. Look for a product that allows you to control different
versions of the budget and that integrates well both with Excel and your main business software.
In the first year of use, you need to allow plenty of time for implementation.
You will probably end up with myriad versions of the budget applying different assumptions. Keep

Comprehensive Peer Evaluation Paper
2012 Comprehensive Peer Evaluation
The comprehensive peer evaluation of Dixie State was conducted in October 2012. The size and
scope of this evaluation required nine evaluators who worked on campus for a three day period
(VanderStaay et al., 2012, pp. 1 4). Steven L. VanderStaay, who then served as the Vice Provost for
Undergraduate Education at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, chaired
the evaluation committee. Joining VanderStaay were eight academics from universities in Idaho,
Montana, and Washington (VanderStaay et al., p. 4; see Appendix C). Besides the evaluation, the
committee listed 49 persons whom they interviewed in the course of the evaluation (Appendix D).
They also conducted open meetings in which 150 persons were involved, although the names of
these individuals were not recorded. Some of the major interviewees included the college president,

Summary Of The Chimney Sweeper And The Victorian Childhood
The 18th century saw the development of children s literature as a category of its own. The horrors
of the Industrial Revolution made writing about children come to life. William Blake s The
Chimney Sweeper from the Book of Experience presents children as unimportant and mistreated
which influenced Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyreto introduce childhood experience from a child s
perspective. The Romantic and The Victorian Ages share common themes in their literature.
Children were subject to many diseases and hardships, they had little or no education, and they
would often go to work to help support their family. As we compare the similarities of both works
of literature we will see how the literary writings are a part of culture and they signify the cultures
and the eras they were created in. Let s begin with William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper the
poem begins
A little black thing among the snow,
Crying weep! weep! in notes of woe!
The speaker begins to portray an image in the readers mind, we question what is this little black
thing until the second line confirming that it is a child covered in soot alone in the snow crying.
This image seems to stick out since there a sharp distinction between the black soot covered boy
and beautiful sparkling snow he is sitting in. That feeling of loneliness and abandonment is like
how Jane Eyre felt as a child. Her mother dies when she is young, and is forced to live with her
abusive Aunt. She is treated badly by her family. Continuing with Blake s poem the child is asked
where his parents are, the boy shows the hypocrisy by stating they are at church praying while he is
left in the snow.
Undeniably, the child is complaining about their irresponsibility because to work and to gain
money is the duty of the parents, not children. (Karakuzu, 2016). The next few lines give us the
boy s story he says
Because I was happy upon the heath,
And smiled among the winter s snow
They clothed me in the clothes of death,
And taught me to sing the notes of woe.?
The child talks about how he was happy at one point and had fun outdoors in the winter snow until
his parents dressed him the clothes if death and taught him to sing sad songs. I believe he is
referring to his clothing as

Reflection Of A Funeral Of My Friend s Aunt
Death Funeral customs vary according to the religion, culture, and ethnicity. Religion is the
foremost thing that plays an important role in a funeral event. From a cultural perspective when a
person dies they must be buried with two weeks in the Nigerian culture. This is because it allows
the family to heal faster and get over their loved one and also move into the next chapter. Well,
here I am going to describe my experience and observation of attending a funeralof my friend s
aunt. Well, here I am going to describe my experience and observation of attending a funeral of my
friend s aunt. I saw the obituaries in the newspaper. In addition, I heard about the deathfrom another
friend that is the mutual friend of me and my friend whose aunt had died. I did not receive a
proper invitation letter for that funeral, and the cemetery was far away from my house. I live in
Renton and the funeral was in Bremerton but attended the funeral anyway. I really wanted to
console my friend and let her know that she was not alone in this critical time. Funeral in my
Nigerian culture is highly valued to the point that everyone would be there whether invited or not.
It is perceived as a way to pay their last respect to the dead.
The funeral ceremony was on a Saturday morning at 10am. I saw a graveyard by the side of the
road, and other families were also present paying a visit to their deceased loved ones with flowers

Obesity On The United States
We are all guilty, we rather spend five dollars on a McDonalds or Burger King meal, instead of
taking a little time the day before and making our self our own meal, but let s keep on mind that
just because is made home doesn t mean is healthy. According to article The state of obesity by
better policies of America more than one third of adults (34.9) are obese in the United States. But
why is there so much obesity on the United States and who is there to blame? We can go ahead
and blame the fast foodrestaurants or we can blame the people itself. In my opinion the
individuals are the ones to blame for the obesity in the United States because they rather have
fast and easy food even though it s not healthy, individuals rather have cheaper meal, and
because they don t exercise enough to burn the calories they consume throughout the day. The
main point of fast food is to be fats, easy and convenient, but sometimes we humans abuse of that
option that was given to us. Yes, its true fast food are everywhere in every corner and in every
place we turn to, but we cannot blame the food chains for our decisions. Obesity is like a
monster and we are feeding it, we stop on every school or work break that we have to snack on
some McDonalds, wing stop, and other fast restaurants that are in our path, the only issue with is
that we consume it on a daily basis making it our routine and we end up putting our health in risk.

The Eyes Of Propensity
Through the Eyes of Propensity Gasoline prices are a fast, never ending rollercoaster in the
middle of the night: unpredictable, wavering and impactful. With control of these prices through
future market contracts, the petroleum industry seems to have significant influence on the U.S.
economy. Private corporate oil companies yield some of the greatest power on the planet, but
will face a major dilemma in the near future when the last of this finite, nonrenewable resource
left on earth is gone. Oil is the most valued commodity across the world and has been for decades.
Yet, this precious resource is far from satisfactory in meeting moderate standards for eco

Americans are generally unmindful of a crisis at hand, until the mass media voices their opinion
onto a public platform. The media controls and manipulates our viewpoints, values, and actions, so
that individuals conform to their bias. They construct and constrict language to accomplish a
specific goal or motive, so it is important for people to not blindly accept information at its face
value. When it comes to interpretation of the oil famine and alternative energy, there is less public
discourse than one would expect to inform individuals on a precarious, worldwide problem. It has
been well documented throughout the ladder half of the twentieth century that fossil fuels are
likely to run out within the lifetime of baby boomers and most certainly be gone in the span of
Generation Y. Likewise, scientists have noted the detrimental cost of burning these fuels to the
environment, which include increasing greenhouse gases and polluting the world s air. A
disproportionate amount of oil is discovered compared to the amount consumed each year.
Supply cannot keep up with the ever growing demand. Yet, oil companies still claim they will
never run out of oil. It is in the best interest for these corporations and the media to keep this
information classified, in order to milk oil for as much capital as possible for as long as possible,
with no regard to the well being of earth and its inhabitants.

The Characteristics Of Witchcraft In Early Modem Europe
Witchcraft in Early Modem Europe was perceived with mixed attitudes by the society. People in
the 16th and 17th centuries accepted witchcraft when it worked to help them, but saw it as a
satanic practice when it failed. Although it was socially acceptable for people to seek for advice or
help from witches, it was taboo for witches to use magicas it was linked to devil worship and other
beliefs that went against the Christian faith. Furthermore, women accused of sorcery were often
unable to receive a fair trial as demonstrated by the leading questions that were posed and the acts
of torture that led to forced confessions. During a period of religious and political turmoil, the Trial
of Tempel Anneke illustrates the fact that society was not so much concerned with the truth, but
rather convicted these women because of their marginalized role in society caused by social
disposition. Furthermore, it can be suggested that while it was acceptable for people to inquire
about magic, the law heavily punished those who would practice witchcraft. It is evident that
Tempel Anneke displays the typical characteristics of an accused witch an older female figure
that was perceived as a burden to society and offered little in return. Anneke was a widower who
lost her husband who during the Thirty Years War and depended on her son s financial
assistance. Furthermore, she was informally trained by her mother as a naturopathic healer and
used her healing skills to help cure people and animals in her community by using herbs and
other plants. Anneke had not been accused of witchcraft while her neighbors had hired her for
medicinal purposes on a regular basis until the case of Hans Kholer because of the harmful
magic she was accused of employing that led to fear and resentment towards her. Lastly, society s
perceptions of women during the time furthered their inability to prove their innocence through a
fair trial. It was a widely held belief that women were of weak understanding, and are hence more
likely to be ensnared by the lies and illusions of the Devil (pg. xxxvi). Society s prejudice towards
women, especially elderly women dependent on society, predetermined the fate of the women
charged for witchcraft; the court of

The Internet And Its Effect On Our Lives
Summary and Analysis
My first image shows that in today s generation the internet is becoming a huge factor in their day
to day lives. The internet allows this generation to communicate with each other through text
messages, or social media like Facebook, and twitter. The internet provides us with all of the
answers to our day to day questions; it also provides us with endless amounts of entertainment such
as games, music, and movies, etc. The internet also makes living our day to day lives easier by
providing us with the ability to run our businesses online and change stocks. However, excessive
activity and addictive activity are two very different things. Healthy excessive activities add to life,
whereas addictions take away from it. Problematic internet use also known as internet addiction
disorder is and individuals inability to control their urges, or behaviors regarding internet use that
lead to distress or impairment. As time went on and the amount of internet use increased, (IAD) has
attracted the attention of many researchers. Some worry that the Internet, with its visual
stimulation and constant distractions, is altering the way we think and not for the better. Some
studies indicate that it may alter physical mechanics of the brain that lead to long term memory
formation, (Clark) And China and South Korea have declared Internet addiction a primary public
health concern. Nicholas Carr and Betsy Sparrow are two of the main people who speak on this
subject.

The Negative Effects Of Social Anxiety
How Social Anxiety Disorder Affects people in everyday life
Human beings are one of the most social creatures on the face of the planet. We depend on each
other for positivity, support, and, believe it or not, mental health. Being around others, especially
those we share a healthy relationship with, can lower stress and anxiety. So, why is it that when
some people interact with others it is the complete opposite? Sometimes, it is just a person being
shy, or around people they don t know. Other times, it is complete fearand panic when dealing with
others ( What is Social Anxiety? , Thomas A. Richards).Situations that cause the person to get
lightheaded or panic in social events to where they want to flee and stay in isolation, rather than to
have social interactions. This is known as Social Anxiety. Social anxiety is often referred to as
Social Anxiety Disorder, or SAD, and was originally it was just known as social phobia . Social
anxiety is a psychological problem that causes a fear of interactions with other people. It is the
third common disorder amongst the United States and has known to afflict people as young as the
age of 13(Understanding the Facts, ADAA). Though seemingly harmless, it can have disastrous
effects on the mind, along with personal and professional relationships, and getting through life
general. It can cause issues with personal and societal acceptance. It can also devastate self
confidence and create depression. However, despite all this, there

Power has been a constant source throughout the centuries. It was seen by the Egyptians who

Narrative Essay About A Soccer Game
I happened to be on the outdoor sandy field experiencing different mixed emotions as I saw
people with several facial expressions at the end of the big soccer game. It was exhausting and
unforgiving game that got some players injured, and caused the bad sportsmanship to take place
between the coaches, players, and fans. Our fans and our rival s fans fought each other, and they
threw stuff across the stadium as if they were dealing with a gigantic wild animal. Some of the
playerscouldn t fully focus on their soccer match due to their divided attention, and some of
them were terrified by the fan s unnecessary acts. Whenever I think about this moment, I cry and
smile at the same time because we finally understood the meaning of fair play of soccer, and
happy ending of our game occurred as a result of that. I knew before the game that the
unsportsmanlike conduct would happen, it really did as I thought, but besides our soccer game s
dirty side, it appeared to be more captivating by the way it was played than any other game. I
believe that there were three causes for the ungentlemanly behavior that we faced during the
tournament. Both my team and the rival team fought to death in order to win the important soccer
league because neither of the teams made it to the final game before. They always face each other
during the knockout games which made them rivals. Finally, the beauty of the game also had an
effect for why the match took place to be played dirty.

the main topics that I learned and what I expect to make me a better driver. The Alabama
Graduated Drivers License Law was one of the main things I learned during this course. This
law is very important today and became affected on October 1, 2002. A Fifteen year old with a

If you are speeding in a construction zone, your fine will be doubled! If it says construction

there, but not in sight. You will still get a ticket if speeding in this zone!! While operating a
vehicle, you are to have several required documents at a traffic stop. When stopped for a traffic
violation, you are to always have the following items: driver license, proof of insurance, and
vehicle registration. As of May 8, 2009, all motor vehicles operated on Alabama highways must
have liability insurance. If you do not have insurance and involved in an accident, you will have
to pay. Minimum coverage for a single injured individual is $25,000 and $50,000 for two or more
injuries. A first conviction for not having mandatory liability insurance holds a fine up to $500 plus
court cost. Drinking and driving is a wide spread practice. Drinking while driving is a main factor
in traffic crashes. There are several things we should know about alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant,
not a stimulant. It interferes with all judgment, lowers alertness, and slows the normal reflexes.
Some people think they feel stimulated after the consumption of alcohol. They feel this way
because their inhibitions are lowered, causing loss of caution and self control. It simply doesn t
matter if you are drinking wine, whiskey, or beer it s the amount of alcohol you let enter your body.

The Invention Of The Self Driving Car

is yes. In fact, the self driving car and other self driven forms of transportation, like autopilot,

before becoming commercially available. It truly is amazing how much has been done in such a

Autopilotand the self drivingcar are significant inventions to our world because they make
transportation safer, they make it easier to get around, and provide a newer, simpler solution. Now
before you hear why these inventions are important, I m sure you want to hear how they even work.
However, before you can understand the invention you should know some history about their
inventors! First let s start with autopilot, which was invented by Lawrence Sperry. You should know
that he was a pilot himself. Lawrence Sperry was also the last performer in the Concours de la
SecuritГ© en AГ©roplane (Airplane Safety Competition). Lawrence Sperry was born on
December 21, 1892, in Chicago, IL. He died on December 13, 1923, in the English Channel, after

The Roles And Contributions Of Herodotus And Sima Qian
Although Herodotus and Sima Qian lived hundreds of years apart on opposite sides of the
planet, their respective impacts on their societies and humanity as a whole are tremendous.
Herodotus was born in 480 BCE in Halicarnassus, Asia Minor (now Turkey). His family was
wealthy, and immediately resisted the Persian rule after their conquest of the city, leading to his
exile on the island of Samos his first encounter with the trauma of war. He then wrote The
Histories, a work of massive scope that focused on reliability and thoroughness unlike anything
before it. Sima Qian was born in 145 BCE in Han ruled China. His father held the title Grand
Astrologer, a position concerned with preparing the yearly calendar. However, his father had
begun writing a grand work of history: at his death, Qian promised to finish the work in his honor.
The Records of the Historian, like The Histories, was revolutionary in that it covered far more
spatial and temporal ground than any prior Chinese work. Because their purviews were so vast and
recordings so comprehensive, Herodotusand Sima Qian s respective influences were felt throughout
their societies, thus facilitating their arbitration of moral judgment through interpretation of
historical fact. In crude terms, they understood that the what was inconsequential without the why.
Specifically, they saw their roles as interpreters as opportunities to become arbiters of moral
judgment: moral leaders. Their works, and thus their mechanisms of

The Tragedy Of Euripides Medea
Euripides Medea is considered, according to Aristotle s Poetics, a tragedy. The play centers on
Medea, an outsider and wife to Jason, who seeks to punish Jason for taking another wife. The play
is considered a tragedy because it contains the three unities as well as the six elements of drama
mentioned by Aristotle. Despite the fact that the does the play fits the criteria of what Aristotle
considers tragedy, however, Medea is actually not a tragedy but tells the story about a successful
revenge. In the Poetics, Aristotle has established a criteria consisting of four requirements that
character must have to be considered the tragic hero. Medea, however, is not a tragic character
because she does not possess two of the four requirements: goodness and correctness. Aristotle s
first requirement of goodness states: The persons wit[ have character ifin the way previousty
stated their speech or their action reveals the moraI quality of some choice, and good character
if a good choice (Aristotle 130). Having a good character will allow provoke pity and fear in a
tragedy. Medea however does not possess the good quality. She does not express it through the
course of the play in her actions. In the opening of the play, the nurse makes it known that she
wished that the Argo never had set sail (1) which indicates the idea that the only time Medea was
possibly good is before Jason set sail to seek the golden pelt for Pelias (6 7). Medea fell in love
with him and because of it

Evaluation Of A New Hybrid Strategy
Abstract
Testing is an important process in software development and widely used by developers to reveal
bugs. Often, software failures can lead to disastrous consequences such as loss of data, fortune and
lives. Test engineers have generated a set of test cases to validate against the user requirements. The
highest number of reduction can save a cost of testing. When dealing with a large line of code
(LOCs) there still has redundancy happened. Our experiment studies about hybrid tReduct
GNA_SA and the existing strategies to counter test redundancy reduction issues. In our experiment,
we apply four (tReductLAHC, tReductSA, tReductGNA and tReduct GNA_SA) test suite reduction
strategies for six different situation. After that, we then measure the effectiveness of the diversified
solutions of four test suite reduction strategies. Our experiment shows that a new hybrid strategy
tReduct GNA_SA offers more effectiveness to reduce redundancy compared to existing work.

Valencia Road Essay
Valencia Road reveals society s humanity. Kindness and understanding have become scarce, if
not disappeared completely in today s society. We re so wrapped up in our own lives we forget
about those around us. No longer does a neighbor knock on your door asking for a cup of milk
or sugar for tonight s dinner. Instead you re probably too busy arguing over property lines to
remember their last name. These relationships are explored in ELO Films new short film Valencia
Road. The 7 minute short directed and written by Logan George and Celine Held captures the
interactions and decisions of strangers in a desperate situation. What we stand to learn is how

The thoughts we know our characters are having and yet can t seem to say out loud. For
instance this first happens when Catherine called the police. She calls and reports she has seen a
car accident, but as the operator is asking her questions, instead of dealing with the issue at hand
she is more concerned with how long this will take? Even with the possibility of someone being
dead inside that car, her biggest concern is time? This is emphasized as a car barrels down the
road next to her not even bothering to stop. What our filmmakers are trying to do is appeal to our
humanity. They want us to feel the connection to the world and to the woman in the car, only to
shut us down like so many of us have shut the world out. This aspect of the film is what makes it
so incredibly upsetting yet enlightening. We witness a connection between Catherine and the
woman in the car and then it is taken away from us without a second thought. After the car crash
Catherine calls the woman hoping to develop some sort of relationship but is disappointed when
the woman wants nothing to do with her. The audience feels just as disappointed but why? This is
the purpose of the film. The filmmakers so cleverly want us to reach for this connection and we
expect it to be reciprocated. The truth is, that isn t the society we live in

Irony And Mood In The Gift Of The Magi
Symbolism Irony and mood in The Gift of Magi In the short story The Gift of The Magi by O.
Henry uses irony mood and symbolism to greatly impact the experience of the story about Jim

one another something for Christmas. Jim sells his watch that was passed down from his loved
ones. Della cuts off her hair that she has been growing for a very long time and sells it to buy
Jim something. O. Henry incorporates mood and tone to set the theme of love and sacrifice by
using literary devices such a irony and symbolism to make an even greater impact. The
definition of irony is a kind of device which is used in literature to increase the values of the

together two different types of irony. He uses situational and dramatic irony in the story of The

Sherwood Anderson s Society As An Outsiders
In Sherwood Anderson s Hands, and William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, both authors
introduced main characters who are alienated in their respective societies. In Anderson s work,
Wing Biddlebaum is an outsider because he wants to escape from his society since he has been
accused of being a child molester. Similarly, in Faulkner s work, Emily hides from society since
the prying eyes of the people who see her gaze and oppression. In this way, both characters are
outsiders in their communities by the people s eyes on them. There are a variety of people in
our society and divide into two main groups. There are people who associate easily with other
people are more likely to interact with people. However, there are people who live in a quiet do
not mix with other people. We call those people an outsider. To define an outsider as a single

There are also various definitions of the outsider. Among them, Wing Biddlebaum who is the main
character in Anderson s work is not an outsider from the beginning. He chooses to become an
outsider because people are misunderstanding his action with hands. Emily who is the main
character in Faulkner s work is an outsider from the start. Emily, who grew up in a wealthy family,

Comparing Smartphones with The Matrix
There is an ever increasing amount of computer users today. However, even the age old desktop is
being, superseded with smartphones. These smartphones have the ability to gather user
information: such as location and are selling it to marketers. Yet with the increasing information
and technology available to us, the notion that we are losing our individualism increases. The
increasing information is beginning to leave our subconscious susceptible to being controlled by
the powerful.

The only way out for someone in the Matrix, was to be freed, by someone not directly plugged in.
For example when Morpheus offered the red and blue pills, he was essentially giving Neo his first
ever taste of free will because Morpheus was not directly plugged in, making him exempt from the
Architects control.
The Orwellian society as shown in the Matrix also shows us where we may be heading. Today we
are seeing technology advance at a faster and faster pace. The ways in which they gather
personal information are growing at an even quicker rate. News Companies, such as Seven
News, are creating applications so they can now cheaply distribute the latest news (Propaganda)
straight to people who have downloaded their application. Rupert Murdock has taken things
further using social media sites like Facebook to distribute news at an even cheaper price. This
allows people to like his company s Facebook page then the news his thoughts will be on their
Facebook wall every day. As long as the human brains decisions rely on outside information such
as news, there may never be free will .
The play Frankenstein shows, written by Mary Shelly, shows the early stages of technology and
how it changes individualism. Frankenstein goes against social norm and tries to make life or as
others called it Playing God . Frankenstein neglects what he had created because he expected his
creation to look like an angel.

The Illusion Of Perception In Heartbeat By Julian Beever
Is what we see always the reality of everything? We tend to think that what see is true, but
sometimes our perceptions of things is not reality. Many magic tricks and optical illusions can
trick our brain into seeing something that s not real. Having our eyes deceiving us multiple times
show that how we perceive things aren t always accurate. First of all, looking at things from a
certain perspective can change the way something looks. For example, Julian Beever, a chalk
artist, who draws pavement art on the streets uses a certain technique in his work. In the book, it
states, When seen from one special angle, these images come together to create the illusion that his
anamorphic drawings are truly three dimensional. Viewed this way, his drawings seem to come to
life (Chalk Art 89). In other words, his drawings can look three dimensional from a certain angle,

Love And Egyptian Love Songs
In the ancient near East, the Egyptian Love Songs are love songs that teach lovers how to make
love and motivate them to make love well. In the biblical realm, making love was an intense
work such as their everyday activities like farming, eating, fighting, learning, and offering
sacrifice. The language and imagery describing one is often used to describe another. Erotica
teaches lovers how to arouse each of the five senses. The songs are full of images of touching,
tasting, smelling, hearing, and seeing. These Egyptian love songs are possible to be a thousand
years older than the songs in Songs of Songs. The Egyptian Love Songs and the Songs of Songs
are very similar. The Egyptian Love Songs and the Songs of Songs are both about young lovers
expressing love to one another. When conducting my research, I found many differences between
the two. To make things easier, I had broken up these differences into three categories. The first
category was speech. While the Songs of Songs is expressing two lovers interacting in dialogue,
the Egyptian Love Songs interacts by monologues. The Egyptian Love Songs are mostly
soliloquies that have been dramatized by one of the lovers speaking. In the Song of Songs, they use
a dialogue throughout their time of communication. The two lovers speak and listen to each other.
They go onto respond to the sounds they hear and continue to echo each other. As we move further

him. They called him the madman. This passage is hard for the reader, who knows what is going

escaped the Holocaust had they believed in the some firsthand testimonies.

Never shall I forget that nocturnal silence which deprived me, for all eternity, of the desire to
live. Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my
dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God
Himself. Never. The repetition of the phrase Never shall I forget really emphasises on and
illustrated that what Wiesel is describing will be engraved in his memory forever, that it is
impossible to forget. I also think that he wants to spread the word about what happened in the
holocaust, raise awareness and make sure that nothing even remotely like it ever happens again.
On page 50, when the Gypsy deportee struck Eliezer s father, Eliezer does not react at all. Here,
Eliezer himself and the reader realise that he has changed, that his new surroundings have changed

Lawlessness And Savagery In Jack And Jack s Lord Of The Flies
Lord of the Flies is about a group of boys stranded on an island that must work together to survive
and get rescued. At first, civilization still has a firm grasp on the boys, and they have rules to
follow and a plan to get rescued. However, as time goes on, lawlessness and savagery begins to set
in, as they re just a pack of boys. The death of two of the wisest boys on the island, Piggy and
Simon, shows a real turn of events and signals that the boys have finally turned savage. Evidently,
no matter how polished and civilized the boys may seem, at the end of the day when the boys are
stripped to their cores, their crueler nature shows.
Jack and Ralph work together, at least at the start, to keep everyone fed and happy. They create
rules to keep law and order, and have a conch that they blow to assemble everyone. At the very
beginning, the boys vote for a chief to lead the tribe. Seems to me we ought to have a chief to
decide things...with dreary obedience the choir raised their hands...every hand outside the choir
except Piggy s was raised (22 23). Showing how the boys want a leader who does things, they pick

Social Darwinism Vs Unfit Essay
Lord of the Flies, by William Golding presents the theory of Social Darwinism where the
physically fit dominates over the unfit. Social Darwinism describes the physical strengths of a
person which allows them to receive power even with illogical ideas or reasoning. In this society,
appearance seems to affect a person s statue, although with Social Darwinism, an individual is
judged entirely by his/her physical characteristics. The individuals born with exceptional athletic
abilities are seen as fit, while the unfit are those who are incapable of heavy physical activities.
The display of the physically fit people acquiring a vast advantage over the unfit is explained in
the Social Darwinism article and the novel Lord of the Flies. The physical... Show more content on

The fit sees no reason to assist those who are vulnerable because that would only promote a gain
of the undesired reproduction. All the resources should go to the fittest and strongest in life to
enable those individuals to flourish beautifully. As mentioned in the article, the society favors
the fittest of all walks in life . The little ones were left alone on the island to feed themselves
because they were considered to be a burden to the tribe since they don t have the skills to fend
for themselves. The older boys did not feel the responsibilities of nurturing the little ones
unconsciously. This shows that the influence of Social Darwinism is inveterate. Those who are
in dreadful situations often have no intention of being there. However, Social Darwinism
implies those have the intention of being there, hence the naturalistic fallacy described by the
article. Take the little boys on the island for example, they did not intend to be incapable of
taking care of themselves because of two reasons. Firstly they were collateral damage of the war.
Secondly, the children are not at fault for their incapability of taking care of themselves since they
are children. The vast idea of the weak not deserving aid creates an unfair society. This idea favors
only the already fit which will generate a world filled with discrimination and

Epicureanism is a philosophy based on the teachings of the Greek philosopher Epicuris. His views
coincide with those of Heisenberg in the way that they display the incertitude of how it is
impossible to know exactly what things will do or go. In example, he suggested that even atoms
are free to move around spontaneously, without order. Any invention or its inventor would fit nicely
into this cultural topic. Eli Whitney, for instance, and the cotton gin. This invention was one of the
most important, it created a very substantial movement in history. Whitney used scientific
knowledge to produce a machine that produced economic progress along with the advancement of
less manual labor, and more production for sales. The Greco Roman culture is one of a male
dominant society, and conflicting obedience views. The idea was that men were controlled by
reason, and women were controlled by passion, and that if women were not controlled by the
practical reasoning men, that disastrous consequences would occur. The male prevalence in this
civilization was evident in all perspectives of life including the arts that were created during this

Human Infectuous Disease
Human infectious diseases are diseases caused by pathogens, disease causing microorganisms.
These diseases can range from mild to fatal and have different modes of transmission and modes of
action. It is the potential negative implications of such diseases that has made many of them among
the main targets for the World Health Organization. Since the human body does not have B cells
that produce antibodies specific to all types of antigenic pathogens, the body can t fight all types of
infectious diseases. Hence, vaccinations and forms of treatment that may employ inducing artificial
immunity are sometimes needed, immediately. Infectious human diseases can be transmitted in
many ways depending on the type of the disease, these include skin contact, breathing, water, blood
transfusion, sexual intercourse, transmittance through other organisms, most commonly a

Approximately six miles north of Frankenmuth, lies Frankentrost. It was also founded in 1847
and it was home to 22 families. Loehe may have been encouraged by the success of the
Frankenmuth settlement. His goal wasn t to settle another mission colony. He wanted to have
German Lutheran families live close together in Michigan. To keep houses close together, farms
were plotted all along one road. This way was more like more like a German dorf or village. He
developed the settlement of Frankenlust. It was settled in 1848, approximately 22 miles north of
Frankenmuth. Just like Frankentrost, this settlement it was built to keep German Lutheran families
close together. The Settlement of Pastors Loehe s fourth colony of Frankenhilf was developed in
1850. Frankenhilf is known as Richville today. It lies about 9 miles northeast of Frankenmuth. Once
the forest was cleared, citizens of Frankenhilf took up farming. That was not Loehe s original hope
for this settlement. He originally hoped Frankenhilf would be an industrial

My Personal Experience Of God
Describe your personal experience of God and the understanding of God you derive from biblical,
theological and historical sources. I was born in South Korea between my father who was skeptical
and my mother who was faithful for believing God in the Korean Methodist Church. For this
reason, it was natural for me to attend a Korean Methodist church. At that time, I did not know what
the church is doing and why I should attend the church, but what I learned about church was what I
am redeemed by JesusChrist through Gods love in the bible class. The church was just a place
where I could meet friends, rather than understanding who God is. Nevertheless, someday, I
recognized what I have a curiosity about who God is through My mother s... Show more content on

Moreover, he was crucified because of pardoning our sin. I know this stories about Jesus, but, at
that time, Jesus existentially came to me as the incarnation. I realized that Jesus Christ is my lord
but also sincere friend as he came down to Zacchaeus in the plan of God. This is my experience of
and understanding God and God s love.
What is your understanding of humanity and the human need for divine grace? I believe that
human beings, who have the image of God, are the best creature in the world. Therefore, they can
instinctually recognize the existence of God and have capacities to choose somethings and to
create somethings creatively. For John Wesley, human beings are created by God in the image of
God, which means that they have similar characteristics to God. Scott J. Jones insists, we share
God s nature in that we are immortal spirits who have various divine capacities: understanding,
freedom of the will, and affections. In this view, in the beginning, the human beings have capacities
not only to understand God in the communication between God and them, but also to choose and
do anything which they want. However, at the Fall, their characteristics given by God became
malfunctioned by Adam s exploiting their free will not obey God, but disobey God, which
generates the original sin. John Wesley explains about this in his sermon The New Birth, The
natural consequence of this is that everyone descended from him

Marijuana Laws Restrict The Growth And Use Of Marijuana
Marijuana is the dried leaves and female flowers of the hemp plant, used in cigarette form as [a]
narcotic or hallucinogen. ( Marijuana ) In the 17th century, marijuana production was encouraged
and supported by U.S. legislation. Later, during the 19th century,[marijuana] use became a fad in
France and also, to some extent, in the U.S. ( Marijuana Timeline ). During the 1920 s and 1930 s,
the drug raised fears linked with illegal immigrants and criminal activity. ( Marijuana Timeline ).
Then, during World War II, cannabisregained its popularity and support as Hempfor Victory (
Marijuana Timeline ). In the following years, the federal government created laws restricting the
growth and use of marijuana. Specifically, drug... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After extensive research on both sides of the issue, I believe marijuana should remain illegal in the
United States.
Some people believe that through the legalization of marijuana, our nation s tax revenue will
significantly increase. On the contrary, like many other drugs, such as alcohol and tobacco,
taxation of the drug will cost the nation money. For example, as stated by Marty Nemko, a
psychologist and career coach, knowledgeable on the effects of legal marijuana, states that legal
pot does not yield tax dollars, it costs tax dollars (Nemko). As with the taxation of alcohol and
tobacco, tax dollars are not increased as commonly thought due to the cost of dealing with
addiction, driving under the influence, and domestic abuse or illness. (Miller) Likewise, if
marijuana were legalized, its accessibility would cause a total loss in tax revenue. The Drug Abuse
Resistance Education estimates legalization...[of marijuana] would bring with it additional
substance abuse in [states] and long term public costs... that would vastly exceed the ... amount of
new revenue legal weed might import. (Miller) The California Board of Equalization estimates that
treating the taxation of marijuana like alcohol or cigarettes would result in a tax revenue increase
of a dollar while the nation would be spending $8.95 for treatment of marijuana drug abuse related
cases (Miller) Since, the taxation of legal marijuana

Ho Hot Potatoes Answers
Hot Potatoes (https://hotpot.uvic.ca) is a popular software consisting of 6 different educational
applications. Each program enables users, especially teachers to generate different teaching
exercises. Each kind of applications can be used to make a distinct kind of exercises. JBC or
Masher, allows teachers to create multiple choice quizzes whereas JQuiz is useful in text entry
with hints available for students. Another program, JMix lets produce the jumbled word exercises
in which students have to reorder the words logically. Regarding JCross, it is much more
convenient than Excel when creating crosswords in case of complex construction. JCloze produces
exercises in form of fill in the blank, which allows gapping selected words or random gapping. The
final application JMatch means matching fixed items on the left columns to the confusing items on
the right ones. Each program mostly follows the three main steps, which are date entering,
configuration adjusting and web pages creating respectively.... Show more content on

Firstly, it is logical and easy to use, which means that a person wanting to utilize this program does
not need professional programming knowledge due to the fact that all 6 suites share fundamental
design features. Secondly, the tool provides users with flexible modules, which help teachers save
time when preparing for the lesson. To be more specific, the teachers can add links, the timer as
well as sound and video so that the students can get a deeper understanding from information given
in the exercises like cultural events or social life. However, the most obvious demerit of Hot
Potatoes is that it requires technological equipment connected to the Internet. Without equipment
and Internet, teachers cannot design tasks and students cannot get access to the exercise

Compare And Contrast Burgmont And Boone
Lacey Rucker Professor Pasley History of Missouri 2440 Missouri Experience 28 November
2014 The Lives of Boone and Bourgmont Г‰tienne de Veniard, sieur de Bourgmont and Daniel
Boone led very interesting lives. Both of them being explorers of Missouri and sharing love for
the land. Though they were both explorers, they still resided very different lifestyles. Bourgmont
was an entire life ahead of Boone. Bourgmont was considered an outlaw when he first became the
explorer of the Missouri River basin while Boone was thought more of as a hero. Despite their
differences, both men had a large impact on Missouri. Г‰tienne de Veniard, sieur de Bourgmont
was the first white man to thoroughly document his observations as he traveled the Missouri River.

The Consumer And Business Market
Part 1: The Consumer and Business Market
The company chosen to be the focus for the marketing management is the Edible Arrangements.
According to Popkova, Abramov, Ermolina, and Gandin (2015). The headquarters of this company
are located at Soweto in South Africa. Its mission statement is: To supply chemical free vegetables
for the benefit of both the customers and the shareholders (p.16). The act of the former marketing
manager developing an advertising campaign before the marketing strategy can potentially affect
the company product regarding sales and also increase expenses. This is because when advertising
comes before the marketing strategy, it means that the target audience and their needs are not yet
known. This will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The value of the product compared to other competitors is because the vegetables are chemical free
as they are organically grown. Clients in this generation have become more concern about health
matters and that why they prefer products that will not affect their health with chemicals.
3. Analysis of the Marketing Mix for Consumer Market
The products offered (vegetables) are according to the needs of the direct consumers who buy for
immediate consumption in their homes. The products are availed in varieties ranging from kales,
onions, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, Dania and cabbage.
The price for the products is customer friendly as most customers are in the middle income level in
this area.
The products are well distributed all over Soweto and the surrounding areas. Customers do not
have to go far in search of the products as they are available in the vegetable kiosks near them.
The direct consumers will be reached through advertising in the local radio stations as this will
cover a mass market.
4. Analysis of the Marketing mix for Business to Business Market
There are many vegetable kiosks which sell to local consumers. These businesses are a good
market for the product and will buy in the whole sale to sell to the direct customers.
The products will be sold in the whole sale that will mean that the price will be lower so that they
can make a profit after they sell to the direct consumers (DhДЃr, 2013).
The farm for producing the vegetables is within

How Is FIFA Corrupted
The company of corruption I am talking about is FIFA. Their headquarters residing in ZГјrich,
Switzerland, the company was founded on May 21st, 1904 in Paris by representatives from
Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden. The reason I
claim this company being corrupted is vaguely obvious. From the looks of things, they seem to
be the very definition of corruption. They are so corrupt, the ex vice president of the company
(Jack Warner) could see a satirical article from the Onion and actually believe it to be something
they d do. In fact, that s exactly what happened. If you look up on YouTube FIFA VP defends
himself by quoting The Onion this claim is what you will find. There are many cases of FIFA s

What about when he joined the NYCPD? The current commissioner told him the city would
break his spirit, and he wouldn t care about the citizens as much as he did when he joined. In a
few short months, Theodore rose through the ranks, became the new commissioner, and fired
the old one. He then routed out the corruption of the police department, by going out in a black
cape and hat, and found slacking officers who were supposed to be on duty, and gave them what
for. Even after a singular accusation that he was anti sematic, he hired enough officers to fill
half a station that were Jewish. There was hardly anything this man couldn t do. His spirit was
unbreakable, even after being quoted The light has gone from my life. when his wife and
mother died the same day, he didn t let that get him down for too long. He named his child after
his first wife, and found an old lover of his, and shortly after, they were married. In his later
years, the man just couldn t have a lick of good luck, every time he tried to work out, to stay in an
athlete s physical condition, life just kept beating the man down. Becoming blind in one eye,
having to walk with a cane, pulling muscle after muscle, nothing could go right. In his run for his

  • 2. Hudson River Analysis Geography is another of Nathan s favorite science subjects. He enjoys locating geographical features on maps and globes, and readily identifies cardinal points, land masses and bodies of water. He also studies different types of maps (physical, political, and road) to learn various legend keys. We ve covered physical and political features such as major rivers, mountain ranges, and most powerful countries. All places discussed during our history lessons, routine conversations, and news stories also are pointed to on a map. Nathan has explored nearby geographical features such as Beaverdam Lake and Moodna Creek. Prior to our recent excursion with his 4 H club, he read about the history of the Hudson River and discussed its health at the outing. He explored Schunnemunk Mountain during a hike on one of its trails and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We watched the sun rise on the east, and followed its path across the sky while painting hash marks on a sundial in the backyard at the top of every hour, and discussing why day and night, and seasons happen. Viewing the recent partial solar eclipse was a most opportune highlight on this topic. Nathan created a Styrofoam model of the solar system using balls mounted with wooden skewers on a base, and the sunrays were represented by toothpicks. Each celestial body was painted characteristically with poster paint. Nathan also attended an Earth, Moon, and Sun projection at the Hudson River Planetarium, wherein lunar phases, eclipses, and other puzzles were explored. • 3. DELEGATION AND DECENTRALIZATION Advantages and Disadvantages of Decentralization In an organization, centralized way of making a decision entails less autonomy to everyone except the central leadership. In contrast, decentralization involves delegation of responsibility and the associated decision making powers across various levels in the organization. Let us discover the pros and cons of this concept. A central command structure derives from an autocratic style of management. Autocracy is not necessarily an intention and could be incidental. For example, typically start ups and business that have just been founded are naturally autocratic with the founding members primarily running the show. Gradually, as the business grows and the headcount expands, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The adoption of organizational standards and best practices is also facilitated by a decentralized setup. Transparency in process ensures that it is easy for the various local teams to emulate and adopt the methods and processes that brought success to a team located elsewhere. One of the major advantages of decentralized way of taking decisions is witnessed during a sudden change in the local business environment such as the onset of recession or currency devaluation, etc. Businesses are able to respond and adapt quickly to these changes when authority is decentralized. Retail businesses like Walmart and hotel chains often benefit from having a decentralized style of management. Businesses, where quick decisions amidst fast paced changes in environment are the order of the day, stand to benefit from decentralization. Disadvantages of Decentralization Too much emphasis on localized way of taking decisions may end up blurring the bigger picture. As you go down the corporate ladder, employees seem to lose sight of the organizational vision. A highly decentralized organization can be the battleground for unhealthy competition between local managers leading to lack of co operation and coordination. As a result, interdependent functions may suffer and resolving interdepartmental conflicts is difficult when authority has been delegated. In addition, there is costly duplication ... • 4. How Does Laurie Halse Anderson Use Allusions In Speak On a dark august night, Melinda and Rachel went to an end of summer party. Feeling out of place, Melinda resorted to drinking. Once she took a step out, she was confronted and assaulted by a senior named Andy Evans. Melinda felt small and just wanted to say no but the words couldn t find their way out. That was the night that Melinda got raped. Melinda s conflict with herself continues as she tries to overcome the events of that night. In the realistic fiction novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, the author uses symbolism and allusions to show how Melinda struggles to overcome the rape throughout the novel. Symbolism is widely used in Speak to suggest something more of an object. Colors are big symbols as they convey Melinda s thoughts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To illustrate this, Anderson compares Melinda to a dryad (p.17). Dryads originate from Greek mythology and it is the female spirit of a tree. The life of a dryad is connected to a tree. Dryads also tend to be shy creatures. Metaphorically, the author is trying to imply that teenagers are in the stage of development and growth, just like plants. Melinda is still growing and overcoming her rape. Anderson also makes allusions to literature to compare and contrast Melinda s story to stories of other characters. To exemplify, Maya Angelou is mentioned quite frequently. In her novel I know why the caged bird sings, (p.50) she writes about how she was raped by Mr. Freeman. She can t talk and is helped by someone with a name of a plant. Anderson uses irony since in the novel Speak, Mr. Freeman is the one who helps Melinda grow. Also, metaphorically comparing Angelou and Maya, we can foreshadow what happens next (the rape). When Melinda finds her closet, she discovers a shattered mirror which symbolizes her past and she tries to cover it up with a picture of Maya Angelou (which is not better.) The poster which symbolizes her rape and secrets doesn t help Melinda grow. Another example would be The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. (p.100) Melinda mentions [Hester] is kind of quiet. We would get along. (p.101) Melinda is comparing herself to Hester Prynne, a character in Hawthorne s novel who has to wear a red letter A to mark her guilt. Both Melinda and Hester feel like outcasts and are a shame in society. Anderson also uses allusions by mentioning the suffragettes (p.154). The suffragettes were people who stood up against unfair treatment of women. To get extra credit, Melinda has to write a report and present it to the class. Being that Melinda doesn t speak, she and David Petrakis, her lab partner, make a plan. Instead of talking, Melinda gives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Summary Of The Chimney Sweeper And The Victorian Childhood The 18th century saw the development of children s literature as a category of its own. The horrors of the Industrial Revolution made writing about children come to life. William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper from the Book of Experience presents children as unimportant and mistreated which influenced Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyreto introduce childhood experience from a child s perspective. The Romantic and The Victorian Ages share common themes in their literature. Children were subject to many diseases and hardships, they had little or no education, and they would often go to work to help support their family. As we compare the similarities of both works of literature we will see how the literary writings are a part of culture and they signify the cultures and the eras they were created in. Let s begin with William Blake s The Chimney Sweeper the poem begins A little black thing among the snow, Crying weep! weep! in notes of woe! The speaker begins to portray an image in the readers mind, we question what is this little black thing until the second line confirming that it is a child covered in soot alone in the snow crying. This image seems to stick out since there a sharp distinction between the black soot covered boy and beautiful sparkling snow he is sitting in. That feeling of loneliness and abandonment is like how Jane Eyre felt as a child. Her mother dies when she is young, and is forced to live with her abusive Aunt. She is treated badly by her family. Continuing with Blake s poem the child is asked where his parents are, the boy shows the hypocrisy by stating they are at church praying while he is left in the snow. Undeniably, the child is complaining about their irresponsibility because to work and to gain money is the duty of the parents, not children. (Karakuzu, 2016). The next few lines give us the boy s story he says Because I was happy upon the heath, And smiled among the winter s snow They clothed me in the clothes of death, And taught me to sing the notes of woe.? The child talks about how he was happy at one point and had fun outdoors in the winter snow until his parents dressed him the clothes if death and taught him to sing sad songs. Obesity On The United States We are all guilty, we rather spend five dollars on a McDonalds or Burger King meal, instead of taking a little time the day before and making our self our own meal, but let s keep on mind that just because is made home doesn t mean is healthy. According to article The state of obesity by better policies of America more than one third of adults (34.9) are obese in the United States. But why is there so much obesity on the United States and who is there to blame? We can go ahead and blame the fast foodrestaurants or we can blame the people itself. In my opinion the individuals are the ones to blame for the obesity in the United States because they rather have fast and easy food even though it s not healthy, individuals rather have cheaper meal, and because they don t exercise enough to burn the calories they consume throughout the day. The main point of fast food is to be fats, easy and convenient, but sometimes we humans abuse of that option that was given to us. Yes, its true fast food are everywhere in every corner and in every place we turn to, but we cannot blame the food chains for our decisions. Obesity is like a monster and we are feeding it, we stop on every school or work break that we have to snack on some McDonalds, wing stop, and other fast restaurants that are in our path, the only issue with is that we consume it on a daily basis making it our routine and we end up putting our health in risk. • 13. The Characteristics Of Witchcraft In Early Modem Europe Witchcraft in Early Modem Europe was perceived with mixed attitudes by the society. People in the 16th and 17th centuries accepted witchcraft when it worked to help them, but saw it as a satanic practice when it failed. Although it was socially acceptable for people to seek for advice or help from witches, it was taboo for witches to use magicas it was linked to devil worship and other beliefs that went against the Christian faith. Furthermore, women accused of sorcery were often unable to receive a fair trial as demonstrated by the leading questions that were posed and the acts of torture that led to forced confessions. During a period of religious and political turmoil, the Trial of Tempel Anneke illustrates the fact that society was not so much concerned with the truth, but rather convicted these women because of their marginalized role in society caused by social disposition. Furthermore, it can be suggested that while it was acceptable for people to inquire about magic, the law heavily punished those who would practice witchcraft. It is evident that Tempel Anneke displays the typical characteristics of an accused witch an older female figure that was perceived as a burden to society and offered little in return. Anneke was a widower who lost her husband who during the Thirty Years War and depended on her son s financial assistance. Furthermore, she was informally trained by her mother as a naturopathic healer and used her healing skills to help cure people and animals in her community by using herbs and other plants. Anneke had not been accused of witchcraft while her neighbors had hired her for medicinal purposes on a regular basis until the case of Hans Kholer because of the harmful magic she was accused of employing that led to fear and resentment towards her. Lastly, society s perceptions of women during the time furthered their inability to prove their innocence through a fair trial. It was a widely held belief that women were of weak understanding, and are hence more likely to be ensnared by the lies and illusions of the Devil (pg. xxxvi). Society s prejudice towards women, especially elderly women dependent on society, predetermined the fate of the women charged for witchcraft; the court of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The internet provides us with all of the answers to our day to day questions; it also provides us with endless amounts of entertainment such as games, music, and movies, etc. The internet also makes living our day to day lives easier by providing us with the ability to run our businesses online and change stocks. We depend on each other for positivity, support, and, believe it or not, mental health. Being around others, especially those we share a healthy relationship with, can lower stress and anxiety. So, why is it that when some people interact with others it is the complete opposite? Sometimes, it is just a person being shy, or around people they don t know. Narrative Essay About A Soccer Game I happened to be on the outdoor sandy field experiencing different mixed emotions as I saw people with several facial expressions at the end of the big soccer game. It was exhausting and unforgiving game that got some players injured, and caused the bad sportsmanship to take place between the coaches, players, and fans. Our fans and our rival s fans fought each other, and they threw stuff across the stadium as if they were dealing with a gigantic wild animal. Some of the playerscouldn t fully focus on their soccer match due to their divided attention, and some of them were terrified by the fan s unnecessary acts. Whenever I think about this moment, I cry and smile at the same time because we finally understood the meaning of fair play of soccer, and happy ending of our game occurred as a result of that. I knew before the game that the unsportsmanlike conduct would happen, it really did as I thought, but besides our soccer game s dirty side, it appeared to be more captivating by the way it was played than any other game. Throughout my paper, I will talk about the main topics that I learned and what I expect to make me a better driver. The Alabama Graduated Drivers License Law was one of the main things I learned during this course. This law is very important today and became affected on October 1, 2002. When stopped for a traffic violation, you are to always have the following items: driver license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration. As of May 8, 2009, all motor vehicles operated on Alabama highways must have liability insurance. If you do not have insurance and involved in an accident, you will have to pay. Minimum coverage for a single injured individual is $25,000 and $50,000 for two or more injuries. A first conviction for not having mandatory liability insurance holds a fine up to $500 plus court cost. Drinking and driving is a wide spread practice. Drinking while driving is a main factor in traffic crashes. There are several things we should know about alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant, not a stimulant. It interferes with all judgment, lowers alertness, and slows the normal reflexes. Some people think they feel stimulated after the consumption of alcohol. They feel this way because their inhibitions are lowered, causing loss of caution and self control. In fact, the self driving car and other self driven forms of transportation, like autopilot, have already been invented. The exception being that the self driving car is still being tested before becoming commercially available. It truly is amazing how much has been done in such a short period of time. Go back 20 years and some of these ideas seemed completely impossible. Autopilotand the self drivingcar are significant inventions to our world because they make transportation safer, they make it easier to get around, and provide a newer, simpler solution. Now before you hear why these inventions are important, I m sure you want to hear how they even work. However, before you can understand the invention you should know some history about their inventors! First let s start with autopilot, which was invented by Lawrence Sperry. • 21. The Roles And Contributions Of Herodotus And Sima Qian Although Herodotus and Sima Qian lived hundreds of years apart on opposite sides of the planet, their respective impacts on their societies and humanity as a whole are tremendous. Herodotus was born in 480 BCE in Halicarnassus, Asia Minor (now Turkey). His family was wealthy, and immediately resisted the Persian rule after their conquest of the city, leading to his exile on the island of Samos his first encounter with the trauma of war. He then wrote The Histories, a work of massive scope that focused on reliability and thoroughness unlike anything before it. Sima Qian was born in 145 BCE in Han ruled China. His father held the title Grand Astrologer, a position concerned with preparing the yearly calendar. However, his father had begun writing a grand work of history: at his death, Qian promised to finish the work in his honor. The Records of the Historian, like The Histories, was revolutionary in that it covered far more spatial and temporal ground than any prior Chinese work. Because their purviews were so vast and recordings so comprehensive, Herodotusand Sima Qian s respective influences were felt throughout their societies, thus facilitating their arbitration of moral judgment through interpretation of historical fact. In crude terms, they understood that the what was inconsequential without the why. Specifically, they saw their roles as interpreters as opportunities to become arbiters of moral judgment: moral leaders. Their works, and thus their mechanisms of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. The Tragedy Of Euripides Medea Euripides Medea is considered, according to Aristotle s Poetics, a tragedy. The play centers on Medea, an outsider and wife to Jason, who seeks to punish Jason for taking another wife. The play is considered a tragedy because it contains the three unities as well as the six elements of drama mentioned by Aristotle. Despite the fact that the does the play fits the criteria of what Aristotle considers tragedy, however, Medea is actually not a tragedy but tells the story about a successful revenge. In the Poetics, Aristotle has established a criteria consisting of four requirements that character must have to be considered the tragic hero. Medea, however, is not a tragic character because she does not possess two of the four requirements: goodness and correctness. Aristotle s first requirement of goodness states: The persons wit[ have character ifin the way previousty stated their speech or their action reveals the moraI quality of some choice, and good character if a good choice (Aristotle 130). Having a good character will allow provoke pity and fear in a tragedy. Medea however does not possess the good quality. She does not express it through the course of the play in her actions. In the opening of the play, the nurse makes it known that she wished that the Argo never had set sail (1) which indicates the idea that the only time Medea was possibly good is before Jason set sail to seek the golden pelt for Pelias (6 7). Often, software failures can lead to disastrous consequences such as loss of data, fortune and lives. Test engineers have generated a set of test cases to validate against the user requirements. The highest number of reduction can save a cost of testing. When dealing with a large line of code (LOCs) there still has redundancy happened. Our experiment studies about hybrid tReduct GNA_SA and the existing strategies to counter test redundancy reduction issues. In our experiment, we apply four (tReductLAHC, tReductSA, tReductGNA and tReduct GNA_SA) test suite reduction strategies for six different situation. The language and imagery describing one is often used to describe another. Erotica teaches lovers how to arouse each of the five senses. Social Darwinism describes the physical strengths of a person which allows them to receive power even with illogical ideas or reasoning. In this society, appearance seems to affect a person s statue, although with Social Darwinism, an individual is judged entirely by his/her physical characteristics. The little ones were left alone on the island to feed themselves because they were considered to be a burden to the tribe since they don t have the skills to fend for themselves. The older boys did not feel the responsibilities of nurturing the little ones unconsciously. This shows that the influence of Social Darwinism is inveterate. It is the potential negative implications of such diseases that has made many of them among the main targets for the World Health Organization. Since the human body does not have B cells that produce antibodies specific to all types of antigenic pathogens, the body can t fight all types of infectious diseases. A place for schools and churches for German immigrants was his idea for this place. However, he and his fellow German Immigrants didn t have enough money to start such an idea. Therefore, in 1840 he wrote a letter to all the Lutherans in Germanyfor financial assistance and speaking of the hardships that the people where facing. • 40. My Personal Experience Of God Describe your personal experience of God and the understanding of God you derive from biblical, theological and historical sources. I was born in South Korea between my father who was skeptical and my mother who was faithful for believing God in the Korean Methodist Church. For this reason, it was natural for me to attend a Korean Methodist church. At that time, I did not know what the church is doing and why I should attend the church, but what I learned about church was what I am redeemed by JesusChrist through Gods love in the bible class. The church was just a place where I could meet friends, rather than understanding who God is. Nevertheless, someday, I recognized what I have a curiosity about who God is through My mother s... I know this stories about Jesus, but, at that time, Jesus existentially came to me as the incarnation. I realized that Jesus Christ is my lord but also sincere friend as he came down to Zacchaeus in the plan of God. This is my experience of and understanding God and God s love. What is your understanding of humanity and the human need for divine grace? I believe that human beings, who have the image of God, are the best creature in the world. Therefore, they can instinctually recognize the existence of God and have capacities to choose somethings and to create somethings creatively. For John Wesley, human beings are created by God in the image of God, which means that they have similar characteristics to God. Scott J. Jones insists, we share God s nature in that we are immortal spirits who have various divine capacities: understanding, freedom of the will, and affections. In this view, in the beginning, the human beings have capacities not only to understand God in the communication between God and them, but also to choose and do anything which they want. However, at the Fall, their characteristics given by God became malfunctioned by Adam s exploiting their free will not obey God, but disobey God, which generates the original sin. John Wesley explains about this in his sermon The New Birth, The natural consequence of this is that everyone descended from him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After extensive research on both sides of the issue, I believe marijuana should remain illegal in the United States. Some people believe that through the legalization of marijuana, our nation s tax revenue will significantly increase. On the contrary, like many other drugs, such as alcohol and tobacco, taxation of the drug will cost the nation money. For example, as stated by Marty Nemko, a psychologist and career coach, knowledgeable on the effects of legal marijuana, states that legal pot does not yield tax dollars, it costs tax dollars (Nemko). As with the taxation of alcohol and tobacco, tax dollars are not increased as commonly thought due to the cost of dealing with addiction, driving under the influence, and domestic abuse or illness. (Miller) Likewise, if marijuana were legalized, its accessibility would cause a total loss in tax revenue. The reason I claim this company being corrupted is vaguely obvious. From the looks of things, they seem to be the very definition of corruption. They are so corrupt, the ex vice president of the company (Jack Warner) could see a satirical article from the Onion and actually believe it to be something they d do.
