This study examined the prevalence of mental health problems among patients in family practice settings. The researchers administered a short questionnaire to assess anxiety and depression symptoms to patients. The results found that 49.4% of patients scored above the cut-off point, indicating a high prevalence of mental health issues. Females, those under 45 years old, and those with lower education levels or chronic health conditions were more likely to experience mental health problems. The researchers concluded that family practices should focus on early detection, treatment, and empowering patients to better manage their mental health.
