Through the brightly colored images I could visualize myself flying through the
sky like Superman; I even had dreams about flying that way and was convinced I
actually could during part of my childhood I just could never seem to manage it

On page 11, Alison s brother struggles to hold a Christmas tree still. As he
inevitably fails, due to his age and size, he begs the angry looking Bruce not to hit
him. In the same scene, Alison runs away from Bruce after accidently clinking
some glassware. Similarly, Bruce confronts the children when a vase is placed too
close to a table edge on page 18. Although Alison claims she was not involved,
Bruce still hits her. The faces of Alison and her brother and mother show a clear
fear of Bruce. These two instances highlight both his propensity to use physical

to be. As human beings, we desire to become better and achiever greater amounts.
In simple words, we want to become an expert of some sort. According to the
Oxford Dictionary, an expert is a person who is very knowledgeable about or
skillful in a particular area. But with this simple description of an expert , what does
it truly mean? Malcolm Gladwell, a famous writer and speaker, with 10, 000 hours

There are various instances where the novel Sister Carrie presents the idea that money
is not able to buy happiness. Carrie, the protagonist of the novel, attempts to use
money to create happiness in her life, but throughout her journey she finally starts to

First starting this class I didn t know what exactly what I wanted to do with a
career. I was between two careers trying to figure out what would be best for me.
