Fahrenheit 451 Materialism Analysis
Bradbury also warns against the materialistic view of his society. In all three texts, the characters live
in very materialistic societies. In Fahrenheit 451, people become so consumed with gaining the newest
in technology. Montag s wife asks him for a new TV, even though they had just gotten their third one
not that much earlier. With people so focused on buying more and more, by influencing what is
available, the people can be controlled. In an effort to please every minority, books are outlawed.
However the twist is that the people themselves outlawed books, without a government decree. Beatty
explains all of this to Montag by saying, It didn t come from the Government down. There was no
dictum, no declaration, no censorship, no! Technology, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only people who still remain individual are the people connected to books. Leonard Mead, one of
the last writers, is the only person in his entire city to go for walks. He is also the only person who
seems at peace with himself, and is not inside watching TV. He also reveals that books stopped selling,
which again alludes to the fact that the people themselves led to their loss of individuality. In
Kaleidoscope, materialism is also exposed. One of the other astronauts that are launched into the
vacuum of space has multiple houses on multiple planets, and also has several wives. He goes on and
talks about it a little, until Morris interrupts him saying, I m not jealous of you anymore, because it s
over for you as it is for me, and right now it s like it never happened (Bradbury 34). By him saying
this, he rejects Lespere s materialistic ways, and proves that he himself had thought in the same way.
Yet now, he sees the faults of this thinking. This exposure of materialism in all three texts shows that it
also plays a role in the loss of individuality. If everyone is buying exactly the same thing, people no

If I could be an animal for a day, I would be a parrot. Parrots can talk, are very colorful, and can fly up

Australia, Central America, and South America. There are many different birds that are considered
parrots, such as Macaws, Amazons, Lorikeets, Lovebirds, and Cockatoos. They all have curved beaks.
Most parrots eat, seeds, fruit, flowers, nuts, buds, and some small creatures such as insects. I would

The Causes And Effects Of Horizontal Violence In Nursing
Horizontal violence in nursing refers to the constant fights and antagonism among nurses in their
course of duty. The violence involves conflicts among nurses and those people that they closely work
with for instance physicians and medical supervisors. Examples of chaotic ways highly experienced
are bullying, sarcastic comments and withdrawn support the effects lower the dignity of those
involved in the violence. Horizontal violence has specific effects to the student nurses and those who
are still new in the profession (Howe, 2001). The violence discourages new nurses in their
professional growth because their capacity to learn and develop is slowed down. The focus of our
group work is to find out the cause of this violence and the effects on nurses and patients they attend
The problem has led to poor quality care to patients, burnouts and high staff turnover among the
nurses. Statistics indicate that 65% 80% of nurses face this challenge. Nurses who are affected by the
violence extend the effects to those whom they closely work with for instance physicians and medical
supervisors (Howe, 2001). However, the worst hit population is the patients because they will
eventually pay for poor quality services they received. Some succumb to their ailments.
The PICOT question of the research paper is: Horizontal violence can be overwhelming, leading to
depression even PTSD, how does this workplace violence affect the care nurses deliver to their
patients? Nurses are faced with the

HP has a long history of innovation in the area of mobility including a broad span of products from
handhelds and notebooks to fault tolerant servers, which form the backbone of the
telecommunications industry. The company has a leadership in public and wireless local area networks
which enables HP to integrate its printing products and software using Bluetooth technology so that
people can even print from their mobile phones. The company also focuses on Internet protocol (IP)
telephone technology to leverage networks for voice and video communication that drives cost
savings for service providers and customers which is an important strength among competitors.
(W) Weaknesses
Hewlett Packard s majority of earnings are coming from its printing supplies division. This makes the
company s total earnings extremely sensitive to this segment which is a potential weakness for the
company. HP also lost shares in the PC and server markets in 2002 and 2003 while its top competitors
Dell and IBM increased their shares in the same period. The company s profitability is currently very
low at the server and storage markets. Some analysts evaluate HP s weak peformance as signaling a
trend for IT spending (Rivlin, 2004).
(O) Opportunities
HP expects recovery in the personal computer market during 2004. The company launched more than
150 products between 2003 and 2004. Product launches are

Dr. Josef Mengele Holocaust
Many know the role of a doctor as someone who provides help for others when they are in need, but
during the Holocaust one doctor was not known as someone who helped the people in need. Dr. Josef
Mengele, who was a research scientist during the Holocaust, conducted many gruesome experiments
on twins, kids, men, and women. Dr. Josef Mengele studied anthropology at the University of Munich
in 1935, where he also earned his Ph.D. In January, 1937, Dr. Josef Mengele went to study at the
Institute for Hereditary Biology and Racial Hygiene in Frankfurt. At the institute, Dr. Josef Mengele
became the assistant of Dr. Otmar von Verschuer, who was known for his research on twins. In the

Josef Mengele had a very sick mind for the type of gruesome experiments that he performed on men,
and women. Dr. Josef Mengele performed an experiment where he would test two things. The first
thing the doctor would test is how long it would take for the body temperature to lower to death, and
the second thing that they would test is how long it would take to resuscitate the frozen victim. The
frozen victims would not wear their clothes that were provided to them by the camp, the victims were
put out naked in sub zero conditions. The frozen victim would also have water that is heated to a near
blistering temperature forcefully irrigated into the stomach, bladder, and intestines. This experiment
killed every person. That is two of the many types ways Dr. Josef Mengele experimented on men, and
women. Another way the doctor experimented on test subjects was they were put under a sun lamp,
and it would burn their skin off. Despite being put in a sun lamp, they were also put in warm water
where the water slowly increased. That was the best experiment the doctors did. There are various
ways that men, and women were tortured. Children were usually instantly killed when they arrived at
the camps. ( Medical

Aristotle On The Mind Vs Intellect
In, Aristotle s On The Soul, which was translated by Hippocrates G. Apostle, Aristotle talks about the
relationship between intellect and the body. He explains how our soul has five faculties:
nutritive/vegetative, sensing, desiring, locomotion, and intellect. Aristotle discusses how intellect is
separate from the rest of our soul and/or body, specifically in book 3, chapters 4 and 5. He argues that
our senses are affected or receive forms in themselves. Intellect exists without being influenced or
blended by the forms themselves. If intellect did blend with the forms themselves, then intellect would
acquire traits, but intellect does not have any traits. Intellect allows us to think of an object without the
object itself, whereas our senses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earlier in the book, Aristotle argued that matter was potential. Aristotle states, For, as we have already
stated, the term substance has three meanings, i.e., form, matter and the composite of these two; and of
these three, matter is potentiality, but form is actuality (Apostle, 414a 14). For, example, clay can be
considered potential, but clay can be sculpted into an object, like a bowl and it becomes actual. If the
potential is matter, then the passive intellect would have to have form, like the clay. However,
Aristotle does not believe that the potential intellect as a form. If the intellect does not have a form,
then what attaches it to us? What stops the intellect from vanishing? As shown, Aristotle again has
contradicted himself. It seems like the intellect contradicts a lot of the arguments that Aristotle first
gives, which makes his arguments unclear. And it also makes it so that there are many unanswered
questions about the

TRANSNATIONAL IT OPERATIONS
A transnational company is a corporation that is registered and operates in more than one country at
the same time (West s Encyclopedia of American La., n.d.). A transnational corporation has its
headquarters in one country and operates wholly or partially owned subsidiaries in one other, or many
other countries. Some companies will outsource a portion or sometimes all of their Information

_DISADVANTAGES_
There are also disadvantages for transnational companies as well as advantages. Many times these can
be one and the same depending on the perspective. As the Multilanguage abilities can be a benefit,
they can also be a challenge. Even though people can speak a foreign language, they sometimes do not
understand all the inflections or the meaning of some idioms that may be common to an area that the
company serves. This can cause some annoyance and even offensive for some customers.
Another hurdle can be the lack of infrastructure in the desired area. This includes everything from the
desired quantity and quality of phone lines, OC3 or T1 lines or capability, necessary workspace for the
desired employees, or the availability of hardware or ability to obtain it where it needs to go because
of the potential host nation s legal restrictions or other challenges. These obstacles can usually be met
and defeated but there are time and cost considerations in meeting these.
There are also the potential for a difficult or even hostile political climate. This consideration is one
that can change rapidly in many areas of the world, and can be quite unexpected. Conditions in Egypt,
for the last few weeks can be used as an example of how a seemingly stable country can have civil
unrest quickly and unexpectedly.

Analysis Of My Last Duchess By Robert Browning
Londyn Zografakis
English Period 8
7 November 2014
Throughout history, gender roles have been an important barrier in society. Women are forced to
satisfy expectations established by men and society. My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, focuses
on the powerful Duke establishing certain expectations of the Duchess, and attempting to control her.
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, concentrates on Laertes establishing certain expectations of Ophelia,
and seeking to control her. A Room of One s Own, by Virginia Woolf, centers on societal expectations
of Judith, and her father trying to control her. In all three texts, men have the ability to control women
and have the freedom to do as they please. Women must conform to the expectations of faithfulness,
attentiveness, and chastity.
My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, depicts powerful husbands attempting to control the actions
of their wives as they are free to do as they please. In contrast, women are expected to be faithful and
attentive only to their husbands. The power and control of the Duke is conveyed by a painting of the
Duchess. It belongs to the Duke and is referred to as my last Duchess (1). The use of my demonstrates
the possessive nature of the Duke and his claim of the Duchess as his own personal possession, much
like the painting itself. As the Duke persists on forcing domination upon the Duchess, he is greatly
displeased to find that she treats and considers him as the same value as nearly any other man.

Dakota Cultural Change
including eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Conflict was sparked not only by these events,
but also by the food driven movement of Sioux warriors and hunters to the western plains. The
movement of Sioux to the west prevented the tribe from being able to secure its territory along the
Upper Mississippi, which forced the Dakota to either defend against takeovers from other native
tribes, or move their tribes further south This constant warfare caused the Dakota population to decline
rapidly to one third of its original population between 1680 and 1805. Population decline and loss of
territory led the once dominant Sioux to lose their prominent position amid other Native American
groups. Similar to other societies, the Dakota participated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

France to hopes to obtain French weaponry. He wept and said, All the nations had a father who
afforded them protection; all of them have iron. He then concludes his statements by referring to
himself as a bastard in question of a father . When he says iron , Tiyoskate is referencing the iron
firearms of the French. He persuades the French to supply the Dakota with arms by saying that their
tribe is in need of a protecting figure, or father . The Sioux s plea for iron shows their willingness to
use French weapons for defense against other tribes and foreigners. Also, the physical act of crying
further demonstrates how the Dakota presented themselves as a vulnerable people, perhaps illustrating
their desire for French merchandise. On the other hand, the Dakota used these new weapons in
different ways, not only for protection. Many French officials were said to have been raided and

Exercise For Today s Youth
Daily exercise for today s youth will benefit them in the long term
I believe that physical fitness is very important regarding the overall health of adolescents.
Throughout the growing years of teens, our bodies are always changing and with these changes which
are both emotional well as physical, our bodies require more and more activity, allowing the body to
burn energy along with extra calories.
Although many people may feel that concerns relating to physical fitness in adolescents should be the
absolute responsibility of parents, I personally believe that our educational system can also play a very
important role in ensuring that teens are getting a reasonable amount of physical activity within the
course of the school day. As an adolescent, I personally enjoy being involved in sports which is
inclusive of physical activity. The teenage years are important in terms of both mental and physical
development, and staying fit during adolescence can have benefits that are both physical and
psychological. Good or poor fitness habits that a teenager develops during his or her adolescence are
likely to last a lifetime, and studies have shown that exercise can be beneficial to a teen s overall
health while also promoting a positive body image.

The Godfather Essay examples
The Godfather is the story of a Mafia family. It follows the rise of Michael Corleone within the family.
Michael was once a war hero and did not want to be involved in the family business. When his father
is shot though, Michael takes revenge on the people who did it and becomes a part of the Mafia
lifestyle. When his older brother is murdered, Michael ascends to become the boss of the family, and
proves to be more ruthless than his father and brother combined. The scene that I am analyzing is one
where Michael is becoming his nephew s godfather at his baptism.

There are no special camera angles, with the exception of a few close ups. The camera remains
stationary. The meaning of the scene is inferred through the editing and the content. Coppola uses this
montage in order to give the audience an insight into Michael. He contrasts religion and murder in
order to show the complexity of Michael. The newly baptized baby is without sin, and Michael is his
guardian into life. Michael is extremely sinful; he has ordered murder as he is taking the godfather
vows. The use of religion and murder contrasted is representative of Michael himself. It is used to
show the mix of good and evil in him. In Hegel s dialectic, Michael is the synthesis, a twisted mix of
good and evil. The line between the two has become blurred for him. He claims to reject Satan yet he
commits the worst sin. He claims to believe in god, yet does not follow the tenets of religion. He is the
guardian of this child without sin, and he is full of sin.
Coppola chose to use a montage in this segment.
The hard cuts between such polar opposites as baptism and murder reflects on the contrasts in the
main character. Overall, Coppola used this segment to communicate how twisted Michael has become.
Michael can no longer distinguish between good and evil or right and wrong. He only evaluates his
actions on whether or not they help him. It also shows the changes he has made in the movie. The

How Did Halloween Influence Early American Culture
When Christianity reached to the Europe, missioners attempted to change the religious practices of the
Celtic people instead of trying to abolish these pagan customs. They wished to introduce ideas which
reflected a Christian worldview. Halloween has since integrated a mixture of traditional practices from
pagan cultures and Christian beliefs. Virtually all present Halloween traditions can be traced to the
ancient Celtic practice of Samhain festival. Although halloween is a holiday of many mystic customs;
each one has a story behind it. The wearing of costumes, and wandering from door to door demanding
treats can be also traced to the Celtic era when it was widely viewed that the souls of the dead were
out and mingle with living. People used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If not placated, they dread that the spirits of dead would ruin their home and destroy their property. As
the centuries wore on, people began dressing like these fearful creatures, performing antics in
exchange for candy. The practice of trick or treat present day is from which the practice of Celtic
tradition evolves. To this day, witches, ghosts, batman, black cat and skeleton figures of are among the
favorite disguises. Halloween symbols, traditions, and practices certainly have had great influences
upon Western culture throughout history. In early American history, Halloween was not celebrated due
to the strong Christian heritage. Initially, it was practiced only in small Irish population, until
thousands of Irish migrated to American soil and brought their tradition with them. Some regard
Halloween as an Irish holiday with history in the Celtic festival. Traditional Halloween symbols we
often see such as witches, fairies, pumpkins, black cats masks, batman, parties and pranks appeared in
United States during the late 1800 s. In 1848, millions of Irish emigrants poured into America as a

There was another theme of women?s friendships in this example that women serve a therapeutic
function for each other. Josie apparently has had some bad relationships in her life so she seems to live
through the experiences that Nina has. I?m not sure how healthy that is in real life, but it seems to be
comforting to Josie in this movie.
Even the closest women friends do not talk about everything. Nina has just gotten out of a long and
unproductive relationship with another man and the thought of jumping right back into that is too
much for her. So when she says that ?This is no love thang; me and Darius are just kickin it.? I think
she means it. She does not want to contradict something she said earlier in the movie to Josie. She said
she isn?t going to make the same mistake twice. And that mistake is falling in love because as Nina
says, ?it is as played out as the A track?.

Discrimination is a natural thing humans do and is common in all of society. Discrimination is when a
person or group of people are thought of or treated differently because of race, gender, color, religious

Analysis Of Red Dog
Australian Film allows the rest of the world to have an insight into our way of life, our communities
and our land. Australian film usually provides a hard working and hardy stereotype who lives in the
outback and takes pride in his mates, and for a lot of the country, this is mostly true. The typical
Australian is a laid back, hard working community member who prides the relationship they have with
their mates, who may not even be a person. The saying a man s best friend is his dog is incredibly true
for many, especially Australians, where dogs can be found in all walks of life. At least, this is Kriv
Stender s perspective of Australian identity, seen in his 2011 film Red Dog.
Red Dog tells the story of a dog who wandered around the outback before settling down in Dampier, a
mining town of north Western Australia. There he finds himself a home and a family, within the close
knit community. This reflects Stender s perspective of the Australian identity, and what qualities are
valued within Australian culture.
The environment within the film shows a vast, dry and barren land, coated in a layer of red dust that is
iconic within Australian film, and builds onto the identity. This is red dirt is so rich in its colour, and
this can be seen in the scene where Red Dog earns his name, after being coated in the dust while
sitting on the back of a trailer as it travelled across the land. The wide angle camera shots used in the
scenes prior to this show the large emptiness of the

Mount Everest Climbers
Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try
and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013
4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a
natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their
garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to
the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest
Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they
climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep
the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also
deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also
demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest
materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1
7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers
leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some
garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means
leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up
their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary
and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the
summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s
experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Because it is
so difficult to climb Mount, you wouldn t want to have to carry your garbage up and back down the
mountain, it is easier to leave it on the mountain and that is what most people do. Therefore, because
of the difficulties climbers face when climbing the

were available from 1982 up till its final version 7.1 in 1997. Some of these features improved as the
updates came out. Tthe main enhancements from an update were increased by memory support. Some
of the significant structures and improvements were from version 1.25, which reinforced double sided

version7 that were combined with Windows 95, permitted removal of many utilities and had the

Microsoft signed a contract with IBM in August 1985 for joint expansion of OS s and other systems

The Etiology of Addiction Disease Model Essay examples
Addiction is like all behaviours the business of the brain . Addictions are compulsive physical and
psychological needs from habit forming sustenances like nicotine, alcohol, and drugs. Being occupied
with or involved in such activities, leads a person who uses them again and again to become tolerant
and dependent eventually experiencing withdrawal. (Molintas, 2006).
Addictive drugs cause dopamine neurons to release dopamine, the pleasure hormone. The narcotics
disable the neurons that would usually keep the dopamine neurons in check; becoming over
stimulated. Endorphins are produced and released within the brain, creating a high and reinforcing the
individual s positive associations with the activity. Hence the rush (Molintas, 2006) ... Show more

(David Capuzzi, 2008, p. 20) Those people who over consumed were regarded as weak willed or
sinful but were not felt to be a threat to society. Records indicate that people sought help for drinking
problems in Egypt approximately 5000 years ago. Even though there has been substantial research,
many questions remain regarding addiction (David Capuzzi, 2008, p. 20).
Historically in the later part of the 18th century, the teachings and writings of Benjamin Rush actually
precipitated the birth of the American disease concept of alcoholism as an addiction (David Capuzzi,
2008, p. 10). Benjamin Rush; a physician, originally from Philadelphia began to write about inebriety
(UnKnown, 2011). He referred to this condition as a disease of the will, resulting in loss of control,
and that over drinking behaviour is curable but only through abstinence (David Capuzzi, 2008, p. 10)
(UnKnown, 2011). The rationale for this view was that no rational person would deliberately engage
in a behaviour that was both anti social and harmful to them. Hence they must be consuming
substances against their will, which is unlike normal people. They had no control over their
consumption so they had to have a disease (UnKnown, 2011).
In 1960 E.M. Jellinek a scientist, was credited for introducing this controversial and initially popular
model of addiction from past research of the late 1930`s and early 1940`s. His findings have received
wide acceptance however, the research from which he

Disadvantages Of Romantic Relationships
Teens become interested and involved in dating because of the desire to belong to others during
adolescence. As a consequence, it is clear that over the time, romantic relationships gain in
importance. Adolescents crave to hold an intimate romantic relationship to which love is made and
received without restriction. It is according to the need to belong theory by which souls possess the
determination to join with others in enduring, faithful relationships. Furthermore, the hypothesis states
that humans share the same need to be a part or connected with other mortals, and claims that all souls
may live life better if they are linked. Myers (2010) confirmed the demand to belong theory by
insisting that people who see a person complimenting their needs to whom they can share their
problems with, makes those people more acknowledge able. Belongings are supported by close, cozy
relationship which tends to be healthier and happier. Because of this need to belong, we can see now
that most university students are synchronizing their time in both academic and romantic views.
Engaging themselves in this romantic relationship enables them to feel that someone cares for them,
shows affection to them, loves them, etc. Furthermore, research led by Campbell Oliver ... Show more

college provides benefits. It was also shown that males who dated while in college get a higher level

related to the individuals self esteem and interaction while in social settings. An individual s social

Shake It Off Poem
Qualitative research accentuates much exploratory reasoning on data to be placed beneath inductive
content analysis. Music is capable of making a direct and repetitive mentions about Taylor Swift s

liars] gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. Baby, I m just gonna shake...it off, I shake it off (AZLyrics,
2014). Katy Perry had fully describes her transformation into a stronger person from when, you held
me down, but I got up. Already brushing off the dust...Like thunder gonna shake the ground...Get

direction of their fears and success. On the whole, these influential stimuli could very well be
illustrated with one of the more systematic approaches to qualitative research.

Differences Between The Medieval Catholic Church And Pietism
The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism are both rooted in the common ideology that God desires
relationship and salvation for all. However, the two differ greatly in missiology, theology and daily
practicality. There are major points of divergence between the Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism
from which modern day Protestantism developed. Mission theology links systematic theology with
practical theology. It outlines and interprets mission systematically and practically from the
perspective of God s mission, Christ s mission, the mission of the Holy Spirit and the mission of the
Church. The true test of The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism regardless of the merging of
missiology or the divergence of missiology is determined by how well each one meets the challenge
of the triune God s mandated definition of mission. Ultimately, one must adhere to the Great
Commission found in Matthew Chapter 28, verses 16 20. in order to accomplish a God centered
missiology.
Tradition
Pietism viewed Scripture as the governing authority of one s life. However, the Medieval Catholic
Church embraced Scripture and traditions as authoritative. In fact, Catholicism placed equal emphasis
on Scripture and tradition. According to Catholic Catechism, this living transmission, accomplished in
the Holy Spirit, is called Tradition, since it is distinct from Sacred Scripture by showing how its riches
are poured out in the practice and life of the Church, in her belief and her prayer. It

What Are The Detrimental Effects Of Starting The School...
A Sleepy School: The detrimental effects of starting the school day too early Long before the sun rises
or the moon sets, the morning rituals of high school students across the United States are well
underway. Long before the streetlights have turned off, students are walking and driving along the
roads to reach their education centers. Long before the bell for second block has rung, many of these
same students find themselves dozing off in class. Why are they unable to focus? Are they aware that
falling asleep in class is rude? How are so many students this tired? These are all valid questions that
teachers and parents alike often ponder to themselves. The answer to these questions, however, lies
with one simple word: sleep. It has become

How To Write An Interview With Mr Batiste
Mr Batiste,
I had the opportunity to speak with Mrs. Cadwalader last night about a couple of issues that happened
this week. I would like to resubmit my request that he be removed from her class. This week she
frightened him by not allowing him go to speak with Mr. Batiste and stated. We can talk alone in the
hallway. Don t go. He went without her permission. He instead spoke with Carol Marshall.
This is the incident as I understand it. The class was told to read a story during class. (I have been
reading his Lit stories to him at home so) he opted to do his Lit homework in class and read at home.
Mrs. Cadwalader asked why he wasn t reading. When he tried to tell her, he became extremely
embarrassed about his reading. He instead handed him a card from DrAntos Hogan explaining what
CAPD was and how it affects his learning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cadwalader to repeat words for spelling tests and she will not.
*Does not relay a willingness to help.
*Homework is often heavy in a spotty manner.
She demands respect yet she is disrespectful by seemingly mocking the students through sarcasm and
jokes .
My personal observations from last nights conferences...
Every teacher besides Mrs. Cadwalader has stated that Michael has turned a corner. He is a model
student. He wants good grades and works hard to get them. Looks to improve himself by reviewing
errors. He with will to help other students in a respectful manner
Mrs. Cadwaladers remarks...He lies about handing in homework. He doesn t communicate for himself.
Her comments were inconsistent with those of the other teachers.
I now understand fully why Michael was afraid to talk to her on Wednesday and instead removed him
self.
I would like immediate attention to this matter and restate my request of Michael s immediate removal
from that class. He can take any other teacher. All trust between parent and teacher is also now broken
as was earlier between student and teacher.

Led Night Light Research Paper
Options In Emergency Lighting During A Power Outage
When your power goes out at night, it can be a dangerous situation if you have to stumble around in
the dark to find a flashlight or candle. If you ve not used a flashlight in a long time, you may not even
know where it is. This makes it difficult to get to your kids in a hurry when they might be afraid or
roaming around the house looking for you. A solution is to install lights that automatically come on
when the power goes out. Here are some options to consider.
LED Night Lights With Battery Power
LED bulbs are ideal in battery powered lights because they last a long time and don t use much
energy. You can buy lights that plug into an outlet and come on automatically when the power shuts
off. While these lights don t light up the entire room, they illuminate the floor area like a traditional
night light or lamp does so you can walk around your home safely. Some of these night lights double
as a remote control that will turn on other lights not plugged into a socket.
You may want to mount a battery powered LED light to the ceiling so it will cast light downward on a
table or kitchen counter. It s a good idea to have an emergency light near each ... Show more content

You might want a light like this that doubles as a flashlight. It sits in a charger to act as a night light on
a nightly basis, and when the power goes out, you can grab it for portable use as a flashlight. You can
by rechargeable lights shaped like lanterns or bars that give off much more light than a small night
light. These usually don t last as long since they use more power, but you can turn them off to
conserve power if you need to. The disadvantage to relying on lights you have to recharge is if they go
dead before the power comes on, then you won t have any lights. Battery powered lights could be a
better choice but only if you have an ample supply of

Dementia With Lewy Bodies ( Dlb )
Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a type of dementia that shares symptoms with both Alzheimer s
disease and Parkinson s disease. It may account for around 10 per cent of all cases of dementia
(Alzheimer s Society, 2016). Lewy refers to the inflammation or neuro inflammation of the brain
(Surendranathan et al, 2015). Both Parkinson s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies are age related
diseases, although onset before age 65 years is not uncommon and both diseases are more common in
men than in women (Walker et al, 2015).
Lewy body was named after the scientist who discovered them, and found that it is made of a protein
called alpha synuclein (Brooker and Lillyman, 2013). When this protein builds up, it keeps the brain
from making the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DLB shares mental symptoms, such as confusion and loss of memory, with Alzheimer s disease and
gait and slow movement, like with Parkinson s disease. For that reason it is often misdiagnosed.
Accurate diagnosis is paramount for successful treatment, although this must be done with caution as
people with LBD are characteristically highly sensitive to certain drugs which can worsen unpleasant
symptoms or even be fatal (Lewy Body Society, 2015).
The point prevalence of dementia is roughly 25% in patients with Parkinson s disease.6 The risk of
dementia increases with duration of disease and reaches 50% 10 years after diagnosis.7 Most patients
who survive for more than 10 years will develop dementia.8 The incidence of dementia is roughly 100
per 1000 person years; however, it is much lower during the first years after diagnosis.9,10 Increasing
age is a risk factor for the development of dementia in patient s with Parkinson s disease, and thus the
time to dementia decreases with increasing age at onset of Parkinson s disease.11
There are fewer prevalence and incidence data for dementia with Lewy bodies.

Digital Divide Australia
In a world where technology is being constantly innovated, there are some people who are bound to
fall behind. Particularly because information and communication technologies have brought
significant changes to improve countries across the globe politically, economically and socially and
over the past few decades, there has been r in people s reliance and use of the Internet. The gap
between those who do and those who do not have access to the Internet is known as the digital divide.
This is a major issue internationally because information and communication technology can
empower and benefit society socially and economically to share facts and express their values, virtues
and other opinions. Some countries that are greatly impacted by the ... Show more content on

So as the divide narrows, it gets deeper. This is not the only comparable cause of the digital inequality
since, both countries have many factors that are impacting their digital divide issue such as, the
internet usage gap between the older and younger generations, the correlation between income levels
and the level of computer illiteracy. Firstly, in both Australia and Malaysia, there is a correlation in the
age of its citizens and internet usage. Australians aged from 18 to 29 years old are nine times more
likely Internet users than those over fifty, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. While in
Malaysia, there are very similar studies with similar results such as, the ones done by Malaysian
Communications and Multimedia Commission where most of the internet users are 20 through 24
years old. This gap may be caused by the mindset of the older generations that may feel like that they
have been living without information technology for so long, they have no need for it, even though,
information technology could help them become more effective and efficient. Some of them may also
feel that information technology could jeopardize their jobs if certain processes are automated with the
use of information technology which, can actually create more jobs in the production

Hate Crime Essay
The term hate crime developed in the early 1980s by reporters and government officials such as John
Conyers and Mario Biaggi. Even though the interest of hate crimes has increased in recent
developments, it has deep historic roots that dates back into time. Statistics of U.S. history has shown
that assaults, murders, and acts of vandalism has stemmed from hatred. The first hate crime victims
were Native Americans and since then almost all U.S. immigrants have been exposed to violence,
discrimination, and harassment.
There are many various definitions of the key word hate crimes, but in general terms hate crimes is a
carefully thought about illegal act against a person, property, or an organization that is roused by the
guilty party s bias ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This legislation can empower the federal government to more effectively protect Americans from bias
crimes and to step in when local law enforcement agencies either cannot or will not act to stop hate
(Roleff 105). However, for those who believe that hate crimes are not as significant as some may
think, they have been shooting down the idea that hate crime laws should form in the U.S.
government. Some consider that this matter is an overstated issue a result that the public is touchy to
discrimination or prejudice. Other arguments against legislation of hate crime laws include that they
don t encourage people to stop participating in this type of criminal act and in fact encourage
additional discrimination and marginalization. A federal hate crime law can be used to protect only
certain groups and punish only certain crimes as hate crimes (Roleff 113). There was a case in the
1990s where one black man who attacked a white man got a less severe prison sentence over a black
man who beat another black man. Situations such as this one can make it seem like some kinds of hate
are more unlawful than others.
There is little research that examines how prejudice turns into violent action. However, research has
examined a characteristic profile that describes common perpetrators and types of hate crime
offenders. Contrary to the common way of thinking, most hate crimes aren t devoted by people who
belong to hate

In Fahrenheit 451, people become so consumed with gaining the newest in technology. Montag s wife asks him for a new TV, even though they had just gotten their third one not that much earlier. With people so focused on buying more and more, by influencing what is available, the people can be controlled. In an effort to please every minority, books are outlawed. Leonard Mead, one of the last writers, is the only person in his entire city to go for walks. He is also the only person who seems at peace with himself, and is not inside watching TV. He also reveals that books stopped selling, which again alludes to the fact that the people themselves led to their loss of individuality. In Kaleidoscope, materialism is also exposed. One of the other astronauts that are launched into the vacuum of space has multiple houses on multiple planets, and also has several wives. He goes on and talks about it a little, until Morris interrupts him saying, I m not jealous of you anymore, because it s over for you as it is for me, and right now it s like it never happened (Bradbury 34). By him saying this, he rejects Lespere s materialistic ways, and proves that he himself had thought in the same way. Yet now, he sees the faults of this thinking. This exposure of materialism in all three texts shows that it also plays a role in the loss of individuality. He explains how our soul has five faculties: nutritive/vegetative, sensing, desiring, locomotion, and intellect. Aristotle discusses how intellect is separate from the rest of our soul and/or body, specifically in book 3, chapters 4 and 5. He argues that our senses are affected or receive forms in themselves. For, example, clay can be considered potential, but clay can be sculpted into an object, like a bowl and it becomes actual. If the potential is matter, then the passive intellect would have to have form, like the clay. However, Aristotle does not believe that the potential intellect as a form. If the intellect does not have a form, then what attaches it to us? What stops the intellect from vanishing? As shown, Aristotle again has contradicted himself. Women are forced to satisfy expectations established by men and society. My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, focuses on the powerful Duke establishing certain expectations of the Duchess, and attempting to control her. Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, concentrates on Laertes establishing certain expectations of Ophelia, and seeking to control her. A Room of One s Own, by Virginia Woolf, centers on societal expectations of Judith, and her father trying to control her. In all three texts, men have the ability to control women and have the freedom to do as they please. Women must conform to the expectations of faithfulness, attentiveness, and chastity. My Last Duchess, by Robert Browning, depicts powerful husbands attempting to control the actions of their wives as they are free to do as they please. In contrast, women are expected to be faithful and attentive only to their husbands. The power and control of the Duke is conveyed by a painting of the Duchess. It belongs to the Duke and is referred to as my last Duchess (1). The use of my demonstrates the possessive nature of the Duke and his claim of the Duchess as his own personal possession, much like the painting itself. Throughout the growing years of teens, our bodies are always changing and with these changes which are both emotional well as physical, our bodies require more and more activity, allowing the body to burn energy along with extra calories. Although many people may feel that concerns relating to physical fitness in adolescents should be the absolute responsibility of parents, I personally believe that our educational system can also play a very important role in ensuring that teens are getting a reasonable amount of physical activity within the course of the school day. As an adolescent, I personally enjoy being involved in sports which is inclusive of physical activity. The teenage years are important in terms of both mental and physical development, and staying fit during adolescence can have benefits that are both physical and psychological. Good or poor fitness habits that a teenager develops during his or her adolescence are likely to last a lifetime, and studies have shown that exercise can be beneficial to a teen s overall health while also promoting a positive body image. Australian film usually provides a hard working and hardy stereotype who lives in the outback and takes pride in his mates, and for a lot of the country, this is mostly true. The typical Australian is a laid back, hard working community member who prides the relationship they have with their mates, who may not even be a person. The saying a man s best friend is his dog is incredibly true for many, especially Australians, where dogs can be found in all walks of life. At least, this is Kriv Stender s perspective of Australian identity, seen in his 2011 film Red Dog. Red Dog tells the story of a dog who wandered around the outback before settling down in Dampier, a mining town of north Western Australia. There he finds himself a home and a family, within the close knit community. This reflects Stender s perspective of the Australian identity, and what qualities are valued within Australian culture. The environment within the film shows a vast, dry and barren land, coated in a layer of red dust that is iconic within Australian film, and builds onto the identity. Mount Everest Climbers Mount Everest is the biggest mountain in the world, and because of that attracts many climbers to try and climb all 29,029 feet of it, but think about all the trash they leave behind while climbing. In 2013 4,000 people have reached Everest s summit, with many more attempting to. Mount Everest has a natural beauty, one that should be preserved, and people climbing the mountain and leaving their garbage on it is ruining it. Climbers have a negative impact on Mount Everest, and while journeying to the top, they are slowly destroying the mountain. First of all, the short article The World s Highest Mountain describes what Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay experienced and felt as they climbed Mount Everest and it shows the efforts that they made afterwards to help preserve and keep the mountain safe from the dangers of climbers. For instance, the text states that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal. He also demanded that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everest materials like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (Source #1 7). This shows that Sir Edmund HIllary and Tenzing Norgay understand how much trash climbers leave behind when climbing Mount Everest because they went on that climb and probably left some garbage on the mountain. Additionally, it allows the audience to see that climbing the mountain means leaving trash, and since Hillary understands this from his own climb, he is demanding people pick up their garbage. For example, paragraph 4 of The World s Highest Mountain it says that The goal Hillary and Norgay set for themselves wasn t easy. The pair encountered difficult challenges on the way to the summit, such as narrow ridges and 10,000 foot drops off the mountain. Hillary and Norgay s experience on the mountain proves to us just how difficult it is to climb Mount Everest. Being occupied with or involved in such activities, leads a person who uses them again and again to become tolerant and dependent eventually experiencing withdrawal. (Molintas, 2006). Addictive drugs cause dopamine neurons to release dopamine, the pleasure hormone. The narcotics disable the neurons that would usually keep the dopamine neurons in check; becoming over stimulated. Endorphins are produced and released within the brain, creating a high and reinforcing the individual s positive associations with the activity. Hence the rush (Molintas, 2006) ... Records indicate that people sought help for drinking problems in Egypt approximately 5000 years ago. Even though there has been substantial research, many questions remain regarding addiction (David Capuzzi, 2008, p. 20). Historically in the later part of the 18th century, the teachings and writings of Benjamin Rush actually precipitated the birth of the American disease concept of alcoholism as an addiction (David Capuzzi, 2008, p. 10). Benjamin Rush; a physician, originally from Philadelphia began to write about inebriety (UnKnown, 2011). He referred to this condition as a disease of the will, resulting in loss of control, and that over drinking behaviour is curable but only through abstinence (David Capuzzi, 2008, p. 10) (UnKnown, 2011). The rationale for this view was that no rational person would deliberately engage in a behaviour that was both anti social and harmful to them. Hence they must be consuming substances against their will, which is unlike normal people. They had no control over their consumption so they had to have a disease (UnKnown, 2011). In 1960 E.M. Jellinek a scientist, was credited for introducing this controversial and initially popular model of addiction from past research of the late 1930`s and early 1940`s. His findings have received wide acceptance however, the research from which he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Disadvantages Of Romantic Relationships Teens become interested and involved in dating because of the desire to belong to others during adolescence. As a consequence, it is clear that over the time, romantic relationships gain in importance. Adolescents crave to hold an intimate romantic relationship to which love is made and received without restriction. It is according to the need to belong theory by which souls possess the determination to join with others in enduring, faithful relationships. Furthermore, the hypothesis states that humans share the same need to be a part or connected with other mortals, and claims that all souls may live life better if they are linked. Myers (2010) confirmed the demand to belong theory by insisting that people who see a person complimenting their needs to whom they can share their problems with, makes those people more acknowledge able. Belongings are supported by close, cozy relationship which tends to be healthier and happier. Because of this need to belong, we can see now that most university students are synchronizing their time in both academic and romantic views. • 25. Differences Between The Medieval Catholic Church And Pietism The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism are both rooted in the common ideology that God desires relationship and salvation for all. However, the two differ greatly in missiology, theology and daily practicality. There are major points of divergence between the Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism from which modern day Protestantism developed. Mission theology links systematic theology with practical theology. It outlines and interprets mission systematically and practically from the perspective of God s mission, Christ s mission, the mission of the Holy Spirit and the mission of the Church. The true test of The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism regardless of the merging of missiology or the divergence of missiology is determined by how well each one meets the challenge of the triune God s mandated definition of mission. Ultimately, one must adhere to the Great Commission found in Matthew Chapter 28, verses 16 20. in order to accomplish a God centered missiology. Tradition Pietism viewed Scripture as the governing authority of one s life. However, the Medieval Catholic Church embraced Scripture and traditions as authoritative. In fact, Catholicism placed equal emphasis on Scripture and tradition. According to Catholic Catechism, this living transmission, accomplished in the Holy Spirit, is called Tradition, since it is distinct from Sacred Scripture by showing how its riches are poured out in the practice and life of the Church, in her belief and her prayer. If you ve not used a flashlight in a long time, you may not even know where it is. The point prevalence of dementia is roughly 25% in patients with Parkinson s disease.6 The risk of dementia increases with duration of disease and reaches 50% 10 years after diagnosis.7 Most patients who survive for more than 10 years will develop dementia.8 The incidence of dementia is roughly 100 per 1000 person years; however, it is much lower during the first years after diagnosis.9,10 Increasing age is a risk factor for the development of dementia in patient s with Parkinson s disease, and thus the time to dementia decreases with increasing age at onset of Parkinson s disease.11 There are fewer prevalence and incidence data for dementia with Lewy bodies. ... • 31. Hate Crime Essay The term hate crime developed in the early 1980s by reporters and government officials such as John Conyers and Mario Biaggi. Even though the interest of hate crimes has increased in recent developments, it has deep historic roots that dates back into time. Statistics of U.S. history has shown that assaults, murders, and acts of vandalism has stemmed from hatred. The first hate crime victims were Native Americans and since then almost all U.S. immigrants have been exposed to violence, discrimination, and harassment. There are many various definitions of the key word hate crimes, but in general terms hate crimes is a carefully thought about illegal act against a person, property, or an organization that is roused by the guilty party s bias ... This legislation can empower the federal government to more effectively protect Americans from bias crimes and to step in when local law enforcement agencies either cannot or will not act to stop hate (Roleff 105). However, for those who believe that hate crimes are not as significant as some may think, they have been shooting down the idea that hate crime laws should form in the U.S. government. Some consider that this matter is an overstated issue a result that the public is touchy to discrimination or prejudice. Other arguments against legislation of hate crime laws include that they don t encourage people to stop participating in this type of criminal act and in fact encourage additional discrimination and marginalization. A federal hate crime law can be used to protect only certain groups and punish only certain crimes as hate crimes (Roleff 113). There was a case in the 1990s where one black man who attacked a white man got a less severe prison sentence over a black man who beat another black man. Situations such as this one can make it seem like some kinds of hate are more unlawful than others. There is little research that examines how prejudice turns into violent action. However, research has examined a characteristic profile that describes common perpetrators and types of hate crime offenders.
