Otto Von Bismarck
Otto von Bismarck was an important figure in the unification of Germany. Bismarck was responsible
for transforming a collection of small German states, unifying them into the German empire, and
becoming its first chancellor. Under the rule of William I, Bismarck was appointed as Prime Minister
of Prussia for assistance over budget. Bismarck urged the king to ignore the liberals about the right to
approve taxes and to instead strengthen the army. Thus making Bismarck a leader of a unification
movement. Bismarck success was due in part because he was a master of Realpolitik, or realistic
policies based on the needs of the state. Bismarck knew how to influence public opinion through press
leaks and doctored documents and his alterations to the Ems Telegram were apart of his agenda in
prompting war with France to further strengthen the German empire. The original Ems Telegram was
a report on an encounter between King William I of Prussia and the French ambassador at the time.
Benedetti had been instructed by his superior, Foreign Minister to present the French demand that the
king should guarantee that he would never again permit the candidacy of a Hohenzollern prince to the
Spanish throne. The meeting was informal and took place on the promenade of the Kursaal with the
king s entourage at a discreet distance. Politely, and in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bismarck knew how to manipulate public opinion through the press. This was one the first instances
of fake news being spread publicly. Bismarck altered the message by cutting out Wilhelm s
conciliatory phrases and emphasized the real issue. His edited version of the Ems telegram to give the
impression that the French ambassador has insulted the Prussian king and that the king had responded
with an insult. The edited dispatch leaked out to the press and outraged both the Germans and the
French. Thus, prompting France to declare

`` Sex Without Love `` By Tina Turner
Not to my surprise, the Iconic singer Tina Turner s 1984, number one hit song, What s Love got to do
with it, became her signature song most recognized among her fans. Questioning a relationship s
worth and meaning is an endless universal topic with many diverse opinions and beliefs of what s
morally right or wrong. Similarly, Sharon Olds 1985 poem Sex without Love reflects a speaker s
disapproval and disappointment articulated with an ironic tone. At first glance, the speaker seems to be
baffled on how an action can occur without the presence of the other, but as one reads on its obvious
the irony is evident. The use of metaphors climaxes the beauty of Sex that includes love while
associating the loveless sex with harsh realism magnitudes. The setting of the poem coincides
timelessly in any era due to its direct point of related interest and act of nature. Sharon Olds poem Sex
without Love, delivery of imagery and tone heightens the speakers overall positive and negative
outlook on the correlation of sex and love. The relationship of Sex and Love is inspired and build
upon a person s belief, and opinions of what s morally right or wrong which in turn determine their
projection. In Sharon Olds poem Sex without Love the poem starts out ironically with a question
referencing a highly questionable association of Sex and Love, How do they do it, the ones who make
love without love? (Olds). Proceeding with the metaphoric instances that appeal to one s vision of

The United States Foreign Policy
The United States Foreign policy in the Middle East
Since the United States became the world s sole superpower, the Middle East has been seen as the
most troublesome region in the world by US politicians. This view emanates from all the conflicts
going in the Middle East that have the potential to threaten numerous strategic interests for the united
Stated such as oil, terrorist, and Israel. Yet Middle East has never seen as problematic as it is now due
to the excessive flux of problems the Middle East is struggling with. This increasingly conflicting
nature of the region demands the US policymakers to reevaluate American policy in the Middle East

In the Persian Gulf, Britain protected Saudi Arabia and the other small states in the Arabian Peninsula
especially when they became oil producers. British paid Jordan s bills, supplied, and ran the army
during 1950s . London backed North Yemen to combat the rising threat of Egypt in the Arabian
Peninsula to Iraq s designs on Kuwait.
British view of the region was not the favorite to Americans. The United States prevented France and
Britain from overthrowing Gamal Abd al Nasser in 1956. In part for that reason, when Britain
announced its withdrawal from East of Suez in 1971, Eisenhower Administration was reluctant to their
place.
The United States tried to invest into regional proxies primarily Israel, Iran, and Saudi Arabia to serve
protecting Western interests in the region. But in 1979, Shah of Iran was overthrown and replaced
Ayatollah Khomeini. The threat his revolutionary Iranian state posed to American allies across the
region led the United States to become militarily involved in the Persian Gulf for the first time, a
commitment expanded when Iran s defeat (with American assistance) in the Iran Iraq War created the
opportunity for Saddam Hussain to invade Kuwait and pose a threat to the region s vital oil exports.
Indeed, in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, George Bush Administration tried to eliminate some of the
region s problems perpetually by military

Compare How Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen Communicate the...
Compare how Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen communicate the theme of loss in Out, Out and
Disabled .
In the two poems Out, Out and Disabled , a similar theme of loss is portrayed. Both of these poems
deal with the subject of physical loss, as both protagonists of these poems experience accidental
amputation. Both Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen manage to captivate their audience s attention, and
also a certain degree of sympathy for the protagonists misfortune. They do this successfully, with the
use of common literary techniques and linguistic skills, such as simile, metaphor, personification,
contrast, and many more literary devices, which range from obvious to very subtle.

Within such a short sentence, the boy s life was simply gone. This use of tripling is very effective, as it
may symbolise a heartbeat, slowly beating away, to its fate. The dashes further enhance this, as they
make the reader pause in the gaps between the words, making the heartbeats seem further and further
apart, and eventually dying away. Another quote which gives the reader a sense of loss is the final
stanza of the poem: And they, since they were not the ones dead, turned to their affairs , in line 33 34.
This quote, to put into simpler words, means that the people who were working with this young boy
(who happen to be his family), had better things to do than to care for the death of this young boy, and
simply turned away, and got back to work. This action seems alarmingly heartless, but nevertheless,
Frost very successfully makes the jreaders feel a huge sense of loss. This line once again shows how
meaningless and vulnerable life is.
Written in the 1910s by Wilfred Owen, Disabled is a poem describing the experience of a young
soldier losing his limbs after fighting in World War I. He later gets discriminated against, and feels
isolated and regretful of his naïve reason to go to war. As opposed to Out, Out , Disabled does not
have an ambiguous title at all. The word disabled is

In the Victorian era, the role of a woman is to be the perfect wife for their husband and a attentive
mother for their children. In Lady of Shalott, Tennyson comments women s changing roles in society,

Downfall by Richard B. Frank
Downfall by Richard B. Frank was a very insightful book about the fall of the Imperial Japanese
Empire. The book was centered around the recounts and the opinions of Richard Frank on why the
Imperial Japanese Empire had collapse. He got his information from credited sources from some
highly classified documents from the time of all of the events had taken place. Throughout the book,
Frank made references about some minor reasons and major reasons as to why the Empire had
collapsed. His biggest reason was the dropping of the two atomic bombs. There will be more details of
that in the essay later on.
The first theme that Richard Frank had discussed dealt with the mini bombings that the United States
had down to Japan after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Frank said the reason for these raids on Tokyo
was to set the tone for what the United States was capable of. In other words, Frank felt these raids
were going to put Japan in the hole in a hurry. The raids were done by B 29s that dropped many
bombs on Tokyo. Frank said how these raids left tons of destruction to the city and said how there
were around 80,000 killed as a result of the raids. Frank described the city as having constant fire that
was hard to be put out. He said how this was Tokyo s biggest disaster up till that date. Frank
exclaimed how these raids had also slowed down the war process from Japan. He said it was because
of the shock factor the Japanese endured after the raids. Despite the raids that were committed

The Relation Between Race And Ethnicity
The term Race refers to a person s physical, biological traits that lead to different treatment by others
in the society. In modern world race is defined more by the identification of people on the basis of
their physical characteristics, it is socially constructed. Race refers to a group that is socially defined
but on the basis of physical criteria. Over the period of time, the concept of race has changed in many
different forms and is now less about person s family or cultural ties but more based on how they look.
An example of race is brown, white, or black skin.
However, the term Ethnicity refers to the culture, heritage, and the way people live their life, the

The, Landscape, The Seat Of Mr. Featherstonhaugh
In the early nineteenth century, many in this country were searching for an art they could call their
own. Painter, poet, and essayist, Thomas Cole responded to this quest by creating pristine landscape
paintings unlike any yet seen in America. For the purpose of this project, I chose an art piece by Cole
called, Landscape, the Seat of Mr. Featherstonhaugh in the Distance created in 1826. The reason I
chose this specific painting was because of its diverse context, which allowed me to identify various
concepts related to visual perception. The first concept I identify was figure ground segregation.
Figure ground segregation refers to the perceptual separation of an object from its background (CITE).
That is, the figure being the object that attracts attention and is more memorable than the ground. In
the landscape artwork we can see how the cows specially the two closer to us seem to be caught more
of our attention than almost anything else in the painting(e.g. the grass). In this painting the cows are
the figure that stands out from its ground, which would be the grass. Similarly, we can apply this
concept to the big tree on the left side of the cows in the front. The big tree can also be considered to
be the figure as it stands out from the grass as well. Further, the trees further down in the painting that
seem to form kind of an island can also fall into this category given that the group of tress are standing
in the middle of the ground which in this case is the

Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy Analysis
A great example of sci fi parody is The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. This movie is about a man
named Arthur Dent, who is trying to make it by after the Earth was destroyed in order to make way for
a construction project (The Hitchhiker s). This movie is extremely random and the plot does not have
one straight line. It is very hard to follow and the goals of the heroes are constantly changing. The
main thing this movie did was critique society. Even though the Earth was destroyed in the first
twenty minutes of this movie, the traditions of the Earth were constantly ridiculed through the science
fiction aspect. One example of this can be seen through the alien creatures named the Vogons. The
Vogons are fat, leathered skinned beasts that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are cruel, heartless, and only care about the system by which they live. This is a critique of the
people who run our society. This is saying how terrible and inefficient our bureaucratic system is.
They use the science fiction element to separate us a little from the reality of it all and then they use
the parody to make us see how ridiculous our society really is. There was a lot of critiquing society in
this movie and it was done in this pattern of separation and explanation. One of the main characters in
this movie was the President of the galaxy named Zaphod (The Hitchhiker s). Zaphod has a lot of
science fiction characteristics that separate him from our world. One of his characteristics is that he
has two heads. The parody of him is that throughout the film was showing how clueless and vain he
was. This parody of his cluelessness shows how politicians can be. The character of Zaphod was
meant to comment on the fake two headed politicians of our society. They are just meant to stand
there, smile, and let someone else do all the work. Zaphod is just a figurehead and the writer is

against immigrant and refugee women be prevented? Some of the ways Canada can protect and
welcome and protect refugees by; Making the status in Canada secure This means that Canada should

Evaluation Of A Learning Organization
Organizations that strive to excel in aspects of innovation, competitiveness, and performance must
have clearly defined core values that are executed by specific learning disciplines (Senge, 2010).
Giesecke and McNeil (2004) stated, A learning organization is an organization skilled at creating,
acquiring, and transferring knowledge and at modifying its behavior to reflect new knowledge and
insights (p. 55). In the pursuit of defining specific practices that would produce an ideal learning
organization, Senge (2008) proposes five disciplines that include, ...systems thinking, mental models,
personal mastery, shared vision, and dialogue (p. 1). In this application paper I will analyze each of the
five disciplines discussed by Senge (2008) and discuss how they can be applied in an organization
such as the high school where I am currently teaching to address specific areas in need of
improvement. The high school where I currently teach consists of twenty four hundred students from
grades 10th through 12th. This school organization as many others is in the business of meeting
educational challenges in the midst of innovative times in a noble attempt to prepare students
academically for the demands of an ever changing and knowledge driven work environment. There
are several key factors that I observe in our school that have in some way hindered our progress in
becoming an ideal learning organization. First, our school depends on the collaborative and

Childhood Is A Complex And Interesting Idea
Childhood is a complex and interesting idea to define. It can be viewed in a technical manner,
considering that childhood finishes at a certain age. Alternatively, childhood could be considered in
relation to experiences, expectations and societal views. There are many influences to consider when
defining childhood and what determines a person s idea about childhood. In this discussion paper I
will be exploring some key ideas of childhood and thinking about this in the context of child
development.
Childhood could be viewed as socially constructed, it is difficult to define as every child is diverse and
has different influences, such as time, space and countries.
What is a child?
There are many ways of defining what a child is and all individuals have a different perspective.
Oxford dictionaries define a child as a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal
age of majority
Oxford Dictionaries (2014). This statement does not define a child, as all children experience puberty
at different ages. For example, a child may have reached puberty by 13 years old, but by law, they are
still a child, as they are not able to vote, drive, drink alcohol or have sexual intercourse. However,
some holiday companies define adults as 12 years and over, therefore they are classed as an adult
within this organisation, despite being under age to take part in numerous activities.
What is childhood?
Oxford dictionaries define childhood as the state or period of being a

Literary Analysis Of Medea
Medea
It was very hard to be a women of the time Medea was written in. Women had to buy husbands and
she alone has to make the marriage work or it is her fault the marriage falls apart. Men could leave
their wives if they wished . Medea is set in a time that women were oppressed and had little to no
rights. Medea did everything she did because She was mentally ill, very isolated and a single mother,
but Jason as a man of that time did have a right to leave her.
Medea was mentally ill, and we can see this in the Euripides play Medea in lines 791 795. I weep to
think of the deed I have to do Next after that; for I shall kill my own children. This explains that
Medea wanting revenge so bad would go to such lengths as to kill her own children. She also is very
depressed and angry when Jason first leaves her. She lies without food and gives herself up to
suffering, Wasting away every moment of the day in tears. The illness Medea has is Clinical
Depression. The website that had all the symptoms that medea has was MayoClinic. The most
common signs of Clinical Depression are feelings of sadness/ hopefulness Medea shows this sign
when she says Ah, lost in my sufferings, I wish, I wish I might die. ( Euripides, line 98). To diagnose
clinical depression the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause noticeable changes in their
personality. Which Medea does show on multiple occasions. Another sign of clinical depression that
medea show is impaired indecisiveness. Medea shows

Should Trade Sanctions Be Stopped Essay
SHOULD ALL TRADE SANCTIONS BE STOPPED?
To most of the world, sanctions are a mixed blessing. On the one hand, they reinforce trade rules and
promote respect for them. On the other hand, they tend to undermine the principles of free trade and
provoke a kind of trade envy (Charnovitz) in other international organizations.
Trade retaliation goes back quite a ways; we see examples of it in much of US law:
Antidumping Act of 1916, which has seen little use.(Charnovitz)
International Labor Organization, from the Treaty of Versailles 1919, which served as an international
dispute system, but no economic measures were ever recommended until 2000, against Burma.
(Charnovitz)

World leaders often decide that the most obvious alternatives to sanctions are no good military action
would be too strong and diplomatic protests too weak. Sanctions can provide a satisfying dramatic
display, but avoid the high costs of war.(Library of Economics) This isn t to say that sanctions don t
cost a thing, just that they re often less costly than the alternatives.
A second advantage to sanctions can be seen through foreign pressure to promote internal change,
assuming that the sanctioned government wants to comply with the rules, but can t because of
domestic politics.(Charnovitz) We can see in many cases that sanctions are being imposed primarily
for signaling purposes either for the benefit of allies, other third parties, or once again, their own
citizens. If the sanctions aren t carefully targeted or the costs are too high for the sanctioning country,
the intended signal may be lost.(Library of Economics)
Sanctions intended to change the behavior or government of a target country are very difficult to
design. They have to be imposed as quickly and easily as possible.(Library of Economics) By moving
too slowly, it gives the target country time to adjust by finding alternative markets, finding new allies,
and by gaining domestic support of its own policies.
Another advantage of trade sanctions is the fact that they have the power to be enacted

How Did Socrates Spent The Most Of His Life
Socrates spent most of his life in Athens. During his life he witnessed the rise and glory of Athens and
the rapid decline of Athens during the Peloponnesian war. Socrates met and talked with a variety of
people such as politicians, statesmen, sophists, poets, architects, and ordinary citizens. He taught
philosophy to the youth of Athens, devoted friends, and pupils like Crito. Plato was one of Socrates
students, and he is considered to be most brilliant student of Socrates. In fact, Plato is the major source
of knowledge about Socrates life. Socrates questioned and cross examined Athenians about their
moral, religious, and political beliefs. People found it difficult to understand him. His habits were
strange, and his arguments were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speakers aim to persuade others in believing what the speaker is saying. Socrates is compelled to
make speech in court to defend himself. Socrates replaces the speech that is common in Athenian
courts and exercises his own kind of cross examination, whenever law permits him to do so. He
proceeds according to his method of examining by questions and answers. Also, he wishes to converse
with judges for more than one day and perhaps convince them that his accusers are wrong. Socrates
acquired a bad reputation because he has some special wisdom as his accusers are saying. This is
based on the account of Chaerephon, Socrates friend. Chaerephon asked the Delphic oracle who is the
wisest. The oracle s answer was that Socrates is the wisest. When Socrates heard the story, he was
perplexed how this possibly could be the truth. Socrates went and questioned poets, craftsman, and
politicians. He made enemies for himself during his quest for wisdom. Socrates realized and ...formed
opinion that, although the man thought to be wise by many other people, and especially himself, yet in
reality he was not. Through this process Socrates came to conclusion that only god is truly wise, and
Socrates wisdom is worth nothing. With this confession Socrates sets up tension against the absurd
charge of impiety. For Socrates, piety refers to his mission based on the conviction

The Changes of Womanhood in Marge Piercy‘s “The Secretary...
Marge Piercy s The Secretary Chant begins the poem by describing different parts of her body as
office supplies. In line one she states that My hips are a desk. In line two and three she says From my
ears hang/ chains of paper clips. (2) In line four she also continues with Rubber bands form my hair.
(3) I feel like Piercy s goal by starting off the poem in this way, was to help emphasize the speakers
frustrations toward her job right away. I also feel that by comparing the speakers body parts to office
supplies, gives the feeling that the speaker is using a form of sarcasm; which explains how much her
job is unwillingly becoming apart of her life. In line five She states My breasts are wells of

She complains that My head is a switchboard/ where crossed lines crackle (9). This sentence is very
interesting to me, because it is saying that her head is not only badly organized but a switchboard as
well. Comparing her head to a switchboard implies that someone besides herself is in control of her
mind. In the line where crossed lines crackle (9), proves to the reader, that her mind consists of many
different malfunctions and confusions. In the next six lines the speaker changes it up some, it seems
like her frusturation is increasing. The speaker tells the readers to Press my fingers and in my eyes
appear credit and debit. (11) I am not sure I understand what this part means, it seems to be comparing
her to a cash register, but I don t think I understand that if she is a secretary. The next line is composed
of sounds again Zing. Tinkle. (15) This again could be sounds that she repeatedly hears over and over
in her head. The next line the speaker says My navel is a reject button. (15) This can mean that in her
job she constantly has to reject people, and or be rejected. This might be backed up by From my
mouth issue canceled reams. (16) My interpretation of this sentence is that, she is repeatedly saying
issue canceled. I don t seem to have a good grasp on what these few sentences mean. The last few

Aesthetic Sentiment and Judgement According to David Hume, a great philosopher in 18th century,
Beauty in things exists in the mind which contemplates them. As a result, good art is the judgement of
individual base on their positive sentiment toward an artwork, and that is called the taste of art.
Besides, David Hume also believes there is something will make an artwork better than others. To
experience that belief, after falling in love with two artworks A Bull Fight and The Bonaventure Pine
in the exhibition at Museum of Fine Art Houston, based on the personal taste of art to state that A Bull
Fight is better artwork than The Bonaventure Pine even though both are beautiful.
The first interesting artwork is A Bull Fight by Jacquez Raymond Brascassat (1804 1867), who is a
French artist. A Bull Fight is a European art, painted with oil on canvas medium, and published in
1855. Its dimensions are about 57x75 inches, which show a close ratio to the real objects. This is a
large oil painting of two bulls fighting, with a dog and a cow watching. There are some physical

company. These two companies both experienced a drop on this ratio from 2004 to 2005, 0.35 for
WOW and 0.3 for CML in 2005.

Equity ratio debt ratio
Equity ratio and debt ratio are both designing for capital structure and they are negatively related with
each other. The cost of equity is higher than the cost of debt, but shareholders will not require
companies to repay them dividends and principals any time. However, companies must pay the debt
holders interests and principals each year. And increasing leverage ratio will result in increasing the
return to shareholders, yet at the same time, it will increase the repayment commitments and then raise
the risk to company and shareholders.
CML s equity ratio increased to 0.4 and correspondingly debt ratio decreased to 0.15 from 2001 to
2005. Generally it is a good trend, even though there has been a decrease in equity ratio in 2005 from
0.45 to 0.40 and an increase in debt ratio from 2004 to 2005, it may be due to the acquisition from US
group KKR. However, in 2005, equity is almost three times debt, which means the capital structure is
still in good condition.
On the other hand, WOW experienced a different trend that its equity ratio has decreased from 0.30 to
0.25, and debt ratio has significantly increased from 0.13 to 0.32 between 2001 and 2005. WOW

Athletes s Social Status Of Professional Athletes Impact...
In many societies, there exists a high passion for athletics and those who excel in their given sport are
often considered to be some of the most valued members of society. Take, for example, the way in
which Olympic athletes are celebrated for performing well on the international stage. The study of
how sports, as social phenomena, affect interactions between people and how these interactions lead to
the further solidification of the social hierarchy, is known as sociology of sport. The study of the
sociology of sport shows that as athletes continue their interactions with the common people of
society, they develop a sense of Glorified Self as a result of the achieved status they are given by
others. This could raise the question, how does the achieved social status of professional athletes
impact the development of their Glorified Self? As athletes continue to achieve status in society, the
Looking Glass Self Theory developed by Charles Horton Cooley offers an explanation as to why these
athletes develop senses of Glorified Self. Additionally, as athletes continue to develop a larger sense of
Glorified Self, their instinctive impulses further contrast their critical conscience. This conflict is the
subject of Sigmund Freud s hypothesis on the relationship between the Id and Superego. Freud s
theory leads to a further explanation as to why athletes begin to act they way they do once they
achieve a status level higher than what they were ascribed.

Back To The Future Structure
Back to the Future is regarded as one of the most classic movies from the 80s. Though up until this
class I had never seen it. The movie recounts the story of Marty McFly as he tries to get back from the
past after the scientist Doc Brown accidentally sends him back. Furthermore, Marty must also have his
parents fall in love after mistakenly changing the course of time. The film can be viewed as a simple
coming of age story from the 80 s with a unique structure when it comes to time, but when examined
more closely gives a clear example of how the narrative structure works. Narrative structure is how
the narrative or story is shown to the audience in its 3 acts. The narrative structure molds the viewing

Songs In James And The Giant Peach By Roald Dahl
How many books you ve read have songs in them? A few books, such as James and the Giant Peach
by Roald Dahl actually have multiple songs. In this essay, I will analyze the last song in the book. I
will discuss each of the verses one by one. The first verse is about the Centipede. James actually
describes him as sweet and gentle . This seems bizarre because Centipede has been shown to be a bit
rough and even mean at times. Maybe this is just to show how James has grown closer to him that he
actually sees him as how he describes. Alternatively, it further shows how horrible Aunt Sponge and
Spiker were to him that the Centipede is actually nice compared to them. Him saying how he would

She is an especially interesting one because, as she herself says, spiders aren t loved by people, which
has caused her to lose two relatives before. This time, James doesn t use anything loved about her
species to convince them, he tries to convince them making them sympathize with her ( I must
NEVER kill a spider, I must only help and guide her... ) He succeeds and the firemen and policemen
are convinced. The Ladybird s the sixth one. She has been depicted in the book as kind and gentle, and
James lets the men know about this. Her kindness must have really made James like her, since he calls
her his greatest comfort since this trip began . Ladybirds are also loved, as it says in the book,
apparently so much that the firemen actually started dancing to the song. This comes back at the end,
where she actually marries the head of the fire department. Last but not least, the Silkworm, who had a
less prominent but still important role to the story. He mostly talks about the silk she makes and
compares it to other places that make good silk. The things he says are true because her silk has
actually been established to be strong. Strong enough to tie to 502 seagulls while carrying a huge,
heavy peach without breaking. Page 108 indicates that they are shiny and beautiful too. ( ...and the

Investigating Correlation Coefficient Of Correlation
a. I can use here z test for one sample proportion since I want to compare if there is a significant
difference between the sample proportion (i.e. PKU rates in that certain state) and the population
proportion (U.S. PKU rate distribution). Also since the sample size is sufficiently large, then it does
not pose any problem with the normality (since np 5). b. In this case to get the correlational coefficient
of the variable if it is ordinal, then I could use Spearman rank rho coefficient and if it is interval or
ratio level I could use the Pearson product coefficient of correlation. In the end I can check if the
correlation is statistically significant by using the t test for significant correlation coefficient. c. I can
use here t test for dependent samples (because of the phrase before and after ), since the same group of
sample will measured twice, before a treatment, and after a treatment. Of course, we need to check if
all the assumptions are met, such as normality, equality of variance and randomness of samples. d. I
can use here Chi square test of independence. Since we want to know if there is a relationship or
difference between the college students responses to the likert question, based on their major fields of
study (nutrition, nursing, and social work) So we want to test if the two variables are dependent or
independent with one another. Assumption of Chi square must also be checked. e. Either I can

focus on what their mission as a company is. Nicholas Bonsack reports, In a recent Consumer Reports
survey focusing on four aspects of customer service for computers problem solved, phone wait time,
and the quality of phone and online support staffs Consumer Reports subscribers gave Apple the

Relativity Of Truth In Life Of Pi
Life of Pi: The Relativity of Truth
The relativity of truth refers to truth relativism, which is the doctrine that there are no absolute truths.
The truth is always relative to some particular frame of reference. An example of truth relativism is
the The Dress trend which went viral because viewers disagreed over whether the colors of the dress
were black and blue or gold and white. Because of how a human perceives the color, it could be either
of these colors based on how a person sees it. The relativity of truth in the Life of Pi includes and
refers to the Blind Frenchman , the algae island, and which story Pi told the interviewers was true.
To begin, when Pi went blind in chapter 90 and practically gave up on surviving, he heard a voice. It s
astonishing what you hear when you re alone in the blackness of your dying mind. (Martel, Pg 242).
To people, this could refer to Pi hearing an actual person or it could just be a figment of his
imagination. Misery loves company, and madness calls it forth. (Martel, Pg 242). This adds to the
theory that the voice Pi heard was just a figment of his imagination. Further on in the novel, Pi meets
and speaks to the Blind Frenchman after figuring out that it wasn t Richard Parker he was talking to.
Later on, Richard Parker killed the Frenchman and Pi explored his boat, finding out that the
Frenchman had lied to him about having food. What doesn t add up is that Pi regained his eyesight
two days after the Frenchman s murder and when he went to check out the dead man s boat, he was
still blind. This could mean that Pi didn t actually go on the Frenchman s boat but was actually
exploring his boat and that the man was a figment of his imagination to suppress the loneliness Pi was
feeling.
Furthermore, in chapter 92, Pi discovers an algae island with food to eat and land to settle on. Pi stated
...that the island was not an island in the conventional sense of the term that is, a small landmass
rooted to the floor of the ocean but was rather a free floating organism... (Martel, Pg 271 272). One
could assume that this wasn t an actual island, but something that Pi made up to add depth to the story
he was telling or this was an island that has never been

Emily Dickinson s Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church
Although many of Emily Dickinson s poems are short they carry many meaningful and sayings and
ideas. The unique style of her poems has caused many to ponder at her works, but is nevertheless
monumental. The length and the dashes used by Dickinson is what makes her poems so interesting an
inspiring to read. In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church , Dickinson uses dashes to
emphasize her points. The dashes also cause the reader to stop which allows for a unique rhythm in
the poem. At the time that this particular work was written the first two lines would have probably
caused someone to naturally stop, Some keep the Sabbath going to Church / I keep it staying at Home
(Dickinson 1 2). After each pause one can almost hear a lady or gentlemen from Dickinson s time
gasping at such an unpopular statement. To think that someone would go against the status quo and
say that she does not feel God s presence in church but rather at her house is baffling. However, the
last lines sums up the poems point nicely by saying, So instead of getting to Heaven, at last / I m
going, all along (Dickinson 11 12). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dashes in this poem are used more for emphasizing the sadness and anger the narrator feels at her

of those who have lost. What the narrator has lost is unclear, but it is obvious that she is angry at God
for what she has lost by the lines, Twice have I stood a beggar/ Before the door of God! (Dickinson 3
4). The exclamation point at the end of the line illustrates her anger. She also describes God as
Burglar! Banker Father which shows the aspects of God as being one who takes, gives, and creates
(Dickinson 7). The punctuation usage demonstrates that the narrator is hurting over her loss and that
religion cannot comfort

Listening is a key tool when learning how to become a counsellor; Lee Prior (2013) aimed to study the

Quantitative research is more widely used in psychology, as it is accurate and reliable. It is not
concerned with individuality and would not be suitable for this type of research project.
Some say that the IPA technique has become very popular amongst students as it focuses on personal
lived experience, which fits well with the quantitative method. Within the field of research, there is
constant debate on how to determine validity. Elliott, Fischer and Rennie (1999) suggested a quality
criterion for qualitative research.
Reflexivity is the act of constantly reflecting on oneself as the researcher and the relationship between

important that they are aware of this and do all that they can to minimise the effects they have on the
respondents. Reflexivity is inextricably linked with accuracy, especially within the relationship

Reset the wave to oscillate, adjust amplitude to 100, change frequency to 30 and change dampening to
30. What happens to the wave?
What do you think dampening means in terms of energy?
With the dampening, the amplitude of the wave decreases as the wave propagates along the x axis, but
the wavelength appears to be about the same. The dampening must be causing a decrease in velocity
because energy is mechanical = 1/2mv2 and velocity = Asin (ὠt). As energy decreases, so will
amplitude. Decrease in energy can be caused by friction.
Conclusion:
The objective of this simulation was to create waves on a string by varying the amplitude and
frequency of the oscillator and to compare the effect of string tension, dampening, and how the string
is held at the end. If the string had no end, then the wave would propagate down the string toward
infinity. If the string was held with a loose end, the wave would be reflected back at the oscillator or a
fixed end, the wave would be inverted. When a reflected wave would combine with other waves
coming from the opposite direction, the wave amplitudes of the waves are summed constructively
(amplitudes of the waves are summed) or destructively (amplitudes of the waves cancel out each
other). However, in reality the waves are actually moving pass one other and emerge as their original

Summary Of Everyday Life By Goffman
Throughout The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life, Goffman makes an analogy between self and
society, and actors and theater. In the concluding chapter, Goffman begins with a discussion on his
theory of self and then proceeds to question his analogy of theater and actors. In choosing to step
back, Goffman acknowledges that the book and analogy are part of his opinion, and that others may
disagree. While Goffman presents hesitation regarding the use of this analogy, for many readers the
analogy allows them to better comprehend the structure of social encounters. Goffman uses actors and
the theater to understand something about individuals and the way they interact in everyday life. In his
conclusion, Goffman provides a theory of the self. According to Goffman, the self is composed of two
parts the performer and the character. The theory being that the self is a performed character. The
character being the real self, which is developed because of one s actions. All the actions we make as
individuals have risks, and these risks are part of our everyday performances. ... Show more content

In his last two pages, Goffman makes an argument stating that his use of the theater and actors was in
part a rhetoric and a maneuver (Goffman 254). Having read all of Goffman, I believe that his use of
the theater is a successful analogy. An analogy is a literary technique used to compare things so that a
relationship can be seen between them. The comparison works to get the reader to think about what
both things have in common. For much of the book, Goffman describes in detail the similarities
between an individual s performance during social interactions and an actor s performance on stage.
Goffman admits that there are differences between real life and the stage. However, the techniques
used by actors in a theater are the same as the techniques individuals apply in their everyday

EVALUATION OF CREDIT RISK MANAGEMENT POLICIES AND PRACTICES IN A
VIETNAMESE JOINTSTOCK COMMERCIAL BANK‟S TRANSACTION OFFICE
Business Economics and Tourism 2010
1
FOREWORD
At this moment, the financial sector still attracts a lot of controversy both at the regulator and the
banker level. The regulators have been discussing on tighter banking rules. At the same time, the
banks have also been strengthening their own health with stricter supervision, one of which is to
reinforce credit risk management practices. I have long wanted to conduct a real research in finance,
the field in which I am really interested and want to pursue my future career. This is a great
opportunity for me to realize that wish. Beyond that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the State Bank of Vietnam‟s regulations, the bank‟s internal policies and annual reports as
well as the transaction office‟s business results also provide significant findings for the research. The
analysis of both primary and secondary data shows that this bank has been trying to adopt a close to
standard credit risk management framework with numerous published documents governing the day to
day credit activities. Some good points are a complete lending procedure or a standard internal credit
rating system SYMBOLS. However when it comes to actual operation, some aspects should be
considered, e.g. the staff training quality or the priority treatment to high value customers. Especially,
the high non performing loans at the transaction office and the non complied loss provision must be
reviewed and adjusted. These discoveries have led to several constructive improvement suggestions
for the case bank. Besides, recommendations for new research directions have also been made. Key

The No Child Left Behing Act
Introduction The Bush administration, as well as others, hoped to close achievement gaps and bring all
children up to a higher standard. In order to do this, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) was enacted with
the hope of an extreme education reform. It requires strict accountability and assessments for schools.
This was done without proper funding and expectations that are difficult for schools and students to
reach. This act caused many problems in schools rather than fixing the problems that already existed.
Policy Formulation
The Social Problem
Many United States children are failing in the public schooling system. Students are dropping out at
alarming rates and those who stay are not properly prepared for college and careers. There are vast
achievement gaps leaving children behind that are minorities, come from low income families, are
disabled, and are English learning (U.S. Department of Education). These problems are apparent to
teachers, parents, students, employers, and society as a whole. This will leave the United States with a
workforce that is not properly educated or trained for the jobs available.
This ideology that all children regardless of income, minority, or disability should be able to receive a
quality education to prepare them for college and careers. One of the biggest causes of this
achievement gap is unequal funding. Poor, minority children are typically educated in urban schools
that receive less funding than schools in suburban areas that educate

Stereotypes In Everyday Life
From one day to the next, a traumatic experience can detrimentally change one s life, and just like
that, a person s daily life can dramatically change. Stereotypes are pictures that people get from a
certain type of group that can be judged and can be exaggerated to a point where opinions tend to get
out of hand. People live in a world where people judge others from top to bottom, when one sees
others living their life in a way differently than they would live theirs, causes them to judge for the
way the different people live. My personal experience has definitely made me a stronger person in
hundreds of ways. In the summer of 2014, my grandmother was diagnosed with Parkinson s disease. A
couple months later on, she then lost the ability to swallow food through her mouth. It was a ton to
take in and there was nothing one could do, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stereotypes are cognitions or beliefs that people make. Stereotypes are used to categorize a group of
people based on their appearance. Yes, stereotypes may be based on truths, yet tend to be quite
exaggerated. Stereotypes can be a widely believed picture of what people have, looking at the person
and wanting to judge. Not all stereotypes are negative. Some may be bad, or (some) may be about
good things that people assume, yet not know. Misconceptions are used based on untruths or
assumptions someone makes and also opinions that are wrong that people tend to make from false
impressions, or faulty understandings. Misconceptions are ideas and beliefs individuals have that are
incorrect and have false information, or the informations is clearly not understood by one. A
stereotype is an exaggerated truth and a misconception is formed from a stereotype, yet based on
untruths, or in other words, being an

My Favorite Day Of The Week
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep
It s a familiar sound. The infuriating, noise I absolutely despise. My deafening morning alarm. I was
in la la land riding on a unicorn, eating aromatic and saccharine chocolate cookies. When suddenly my
deep restful sleep is interrupted. Immediately, I cover my ears with my pillow and inside of myself, I
cry a river of tears. It s a Monday morning, my absolute favourite day of the week. NOT! I hate it.
Mondays are the worst. Monday is the last on my list of most cherished day in the week. Mondays are
not for me. I am not for Mondays. Okay, maybe that was dramatic but I m making a point. To be
specific, it s 5:00 a.m. in a shiver winter s morning. My body is weak, and my eyes refuse to open. I m
in a state where my mind is awake, yet my body refuses to physically move and my eyes only want to
stay shut. My feet are literally paralysed because of the extremely cold temperature. It s so cold I feel
like my body will exceed its normal body temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. I may just catch
hypothermia. Okay, not another beyond dramatic pause. I seriously need to wear my uniform. Just a
few more minutes.
Just ten more minutes, I tell myself.
I lie in bed procrastinating and contemplating about anything and everything. Why do I live so far
from school? I should ve gone to sleep earlier! Ugh! I hate Mondays. My thoughts accelerate beyond
as the loud uproarious sound of my alarm rings once again, indicating it is now 5:30 am.
That s basically

Competitive Strategy Of Samsung
Samsung electronics has come a long way from being the world s leader in semiconductors to
becoming a top competitor in the mobile handheld industry. Samsung s dynamic capability
frameworks and resources allowed the company to gain competitive advantage and achieve growth in
many different markets. Some of these capabilities and resources that led Samsung s success include;
the ability to recognize opportunity through a visionary management team, intense acquisition of
technology and learning, product and process innovation, a fluid manufacturing and assembly system
and the ability to develop partnerships and joint ventures. In the midst of the global financial crisis, the
Korean currency s value, won, had fallen tremendously. Samsung s management team saw this as an
opportunity to start outsourcing from China, where they manufactured LCDs and Mobiles for a
fraction of the price. By 2011, Samsung had the largest Mobile share in China. They decided that by
moving out they would understand the surrounding markets (Zahou, 2015). Chairman Lee
commissioned a task force team to make in depth market research to find out the needs of the market
and to study the foreign trends. Feeling limited with the trends of the Asian ... Show more content on

the other hand, differentiation sets an emphasis on branding advertising, product design and quality,
service and new product design. As a very successful company in which has been around since the late
1930 s, Samsung has repositioned and used both tactics, cost leadership and differentiation still
present today. The combination of both strategies, has led them to adjust to the changing market
environments and ease the entry to new

Bismarck was responsible for transforming a collection of small German states, unifying them into the German empire, and becoming its first chancellor. Under the rule of William I, Bismarck was appointed as Prime Minister of Prussia for assistance over budget. Bismarck urged the king to ignore the liberals about the right to approve taxes and to instead strengthen the army. Thus making Bismarck a leader of a unification movement. Bismarck success was due in part because he was a master of Realpolitik, or realistic policies based on the needs of the state. Bismarck knew how to influence public opinion through press leaks and doctored documents and his alterations to the Ems Telegram were apart of his agenda in prompting war with France to further strengthen the German empire. The original Ems Telegram was a report on an encounter between King William I of Prussia and the French ambassador at the time. Benedetti had been instructed by his superior, Foreign Minister to present the French demand that the king should guarantee that he would never again permit the candidacy of a Hohenzollern prince to the Spanish throne. The meeting was informal and took place on the promenade of the Kursaal with the king s entourage at a discreet distance. Questioning a relationship s worth and meaning is an endless universal topic with many diverse opinions and beliefs of what s morally right or wrong. Similarly, Sharon Olds 1985 poem Sex without Love reflects a speaker s disapproval and disappointment articulated with an ironic tone. At first glance, the speaker seems to be baffled on how an action can occur without the presence of the other, but as one reads on its obvious the irony is evident. The use of metaphors climaxes the beauty of Sex that includes love while associating the loveless sex with harsh realism magnitudes. The setting of the poem coincides timelessly in any era due to its direct point of related interest and act of nature. Sharon Olds poem Sex without Love, delivery of imagery and tone heightens the speakers overall positive and negative outlook on the correlation of sex and love. The relationship of Sex and Love is inspired and build upon a person s belief, and opinions of what s morally right or wrong which in turn determine their projection. In the two poems Out, Out and Disabled , a similar theme of loss is portrayed. Both Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen manage to captivate their audience s attention, and also a certain degree of sympathy for the protagonists misfortune. This use of tripling is very effective, as it may symbolise a heartbeat, slowly beating away, to its fate. The dashes further enhance this, as they make the reader pause in the gaps between the words, making the heartbeats seem further and further apart, and eventually dying away. Another quote which gives the reader a sense of loss is the final stanza of the poem: And they, since they were not the ones dead, turned to their affairs , in line 33 34. This quote, to put into simpler words, means that the people who were working with this young boy (who happen to be his family), had better things to do than to care for the death of this young boy, and simply turned away, and got back to work. This action seems alarmingly heartless, but nevertheless, Frost very successfully makes the jreaders feel a huge sense of loss. This line once again shows how meaningless and vulnerable life is. Written in the 1910s by Wilfred Owen, Disabled is a poem describing the experience of a young soldier losing his limbs after fighting in World War I. He got his information from credited sources from some highly classified documents from the time of all of the events had taken place. Throughout the book, Frank made references about some minor reasons and major reasons as to why the Empire had collapsed. His biggest reason was the dropping of the two atomic bombs. There will be more details of that in the essay later on. The first theme that Richard Frank had discussed dealt with the mini bombings that the United States had down to Japan after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Frank said the reason for these raids on Tokyo was to set the tone for what the United States was capable of. In other words, Frank felt these raids were going to put Japan in the hole in a hurry. The raids were done by B 29s that dropped many bombs on Tokyo. Frank said how these raids left tons of destruction to the city and said how there were around 80,000 killed as a result of the raids. Frank described the city as having constant fire that was hard to be put out. He said how this was Tokyo s biggest disaster up till that date. Painter, poet, and essayist, Thomas Cole responded to this quest by creating pristine landscape paintings unlike any yet seen in America. For the purpose of this project, I chose an art piece by Cole called, Landscape, the Seat of Mr. Featherstonhaugh in the Distance created in 1826. The reason I chose this specific painting was because of its diverse context, which allowed me to identify various concepts related to visual perception. The first concept I identify was figure ground segregation. Figure ground segregation refers to the perceptual separation of an object from its background (CITE). That is, the figure being the object that attracts attention and is more memorable than the ground. In the landscape artwork we can see how the cows specially the two closer to us seem to be caught more of our attention than almost anything else in the painting(e.g. the grass). In this painting the cows are the figure that stands out from its ground, which would be the grass. Similarly, we can apply this concept to the big tree on the left side of the cows in the front. The big tree can also be considered to be the figure as it stands out from the grass as well. Further, the trees further down in the painting that seem to form kind of an island can also fall into this category given that the group of tress are standing in the middle of the ground which in this case is the ... Oxford dictionaries define a child as a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority Oxford Dictionaries (2014). This statement does not define a child, as all children experience puberty at different ages. For example, a child may have reached puberty by 13 years old, but by law, they are still a child, as they are not able to vote, drive, drink alcohol or have sexual intercourse. However, some holiday companies define adults as 12 years and over, therefore they are classed as an adult within this organisation, despite being under age to take part in numerous activities. Women had to buy husbands and she alone has to make the marriage work or it is her fault the marriage falls apart. Men could leave their wives if they wished . Medea is set in a time that women were oppressed and had little to no rights. Medea did everything she did because She was mentally ill, very isolated and a single mother, but Jason as a man of that time did have a right to leave her. Medea was mentally ill, and we can see this in the Euripides play Medea in lines 791 795. I weep to think of the deed I have to do Next after that; for I shall kill my own children. This explains that Medea wanting revenge so bad would go to such lengths as to kill her own children. She also is very depressed and angry when Jason first leaves her. She lies without food and gives herself up to suffering, Wasting away every moment of the day in tears. The illness Medea has is Clinical Depression. • 26. Should Trade Sanctions Be Stopped Essay SHOULD ALL TRADE SANCTIONS BE STOPPED? To most of the world, sanctions are a mixed blessing. On the one hand, they reinforce trade rules and promote respect for them. On the other hand, they tend to undermine the principles of free trade and provoke a kind of trade envy (Charnovitz) in other international organizations. Trade retaliation goes back quite a ways; we see examples of it in much of US law: Antidumping Act of 1916, which has seen little use.(Charnovitz) International Labor Organization, from the Treaty of Versailles 1919, which served as an international dispute system, but no economic measures were ever recommended until 2000, against Burma. A second advantage to sanctions can be seen through foreign pressure to promote internal change, assuming that the sanctioned government wants to comply with the rules, but can t because of domestic politics.(Charnovitz) We can see in many cases that sanctions are being imposed primarily for signaling purposes either for the benefit of allies, other third parties, or once again, their own citizens. If the sanctions aren t carefully targeted or the costs are too high for the sanctioning country, the intended signal may be lost.(Library of Economics) Sanctions intended to change the behavior or government of a target country are very difficult to design. They have to be imposed as quickly and easily as possible.(Library of Economics) By moving too slowly, it gives the target country time to adjust by finding alternative markets, finding new allies, and by gaining domestic support of its own policies. The speakers aim to persuade others in believing what the speaker is saying. Socrates is compelled to make speech in court to defend himself. Socrates replaces the speech that is common in Athenian courts and exercises his own kind of cross examination, whenever law permits him to do so. He proceeds according to his method of examining by questions and answers. Also, he wishes to converse with judges for more than one day and perhaps convince them that his accusers are wrong. Socrates acquired a bad reputation because he has some special wisdom as his accusers are saying. This is based on the account of Chaerephon, Socrates friend. Chaerephon asked the Delphic oracle who is the wisest. The oracle s answer was that Socrates is the wisest. When Socrates heard the story, he was perplexed how this possibly could be the truth. Socrates went and questioned poets, craftsman, and politicians. He made enemies for himself during his quest for wisdom. Socrates realized and ...formed opinion that, although the man thought to be wise by many other people, and especially himself, yet in reality he was not. The cost of equity is higher than the cost of debt, but shareholders will not require companies to repay them dividends and principals any time. However, companies must pay the debt holders interests and principals each year. And increasing leverage ratio will result in increasing the return to shareholders, yet at the same time, it will increase the repayment commitments and then raise the risk to company and shareholders. • 32. Athletes s Social Status Of Professional Athletes Impact... In many societies, there exists a high passion for athletics and those who excel in their given sport are often considered to be some of the most valued members of society. Take, for example, the way in which Olympic athletes are celebrated for performing well on the international stage. The study of how sports, as social phenomena, affect interactions between people and how these interactions lead to the further solidification of the social hierarchy, is known as sociology of sport. The study of the sociology of sport shows that as athletes continue their interactions with the common people of society, they develop a sense of Glorified Self as a result of the achieved status they are given by others. This could raise the question, how does the achieved social status of professional athletes impact the development of their Glorified Self? As athletes continue to achieve status in society, the Looking Glass Self Theory developed by Charles Horton Cooley offers an explanation as to why these athletes develop senses of Glorified Self. Additionally, as athletes continue to develop a larger sense of Glorified Self, their instinctive impulses further contrast their critical conscience. This conflict is the subject of Sigmund Freud s hypothesis on the relationship between the Id and Superego. Freud s theory leads to a further explanation as to why athletes begin to act they way they do once they achieve a status level higher than what they were ascribed. Noted sociologists ... Maybe this is just to show how James has grown closer to him that he actually sees him as how he describes. The Ladybird s the sixth one. She has been depicted in the book as kind and gentle, and James lets the men know about this. • 38. Relativity Of Truth In Life Of Pi Life of Pi: The Relativity of Truth The relativity of truth refers to truth relativism, which is the doctrine that there are no absolute truths. The truth is always relative to some particular frame of reference. An example of truth relativism is the The Dress trend which went viral because viewers disagreed over whether the colors of the dress were black and blue or gold and white. Because of how a human perceives the color, it could be either of these colors based on how a person sees it. The relativity of truth in the Life of Pi includes and refers to the Blind Frenchman , the algae island, and which story Pi told the interviewers was true. To begin, when Pi went blind in chapter 90 and practically gave up on surviving, he heard a voice. It s astonishing what you hear when you re alone in the blackness of your dying mind. (Martel, Pg 242). To people, this could refer to Pi hearing an actual person or it could just be a figment of his imagination. Misery loves company, and madness calls it forth. (Martel, Pg 242). This adds to the theory that the voice Pi heard was just a figment of his imagination. Further on in the novel, Pi meets and speaks to the Blind Frenchman after figuring out that it wasn t Richard Parker he was talking to. Later on, Richard Parker killed the Frenchman and Pi explored his boat, finding out that the Frenchman had lied to him about having food. What doesn t add up is that Pi regained his eyesight two days after the Frenchman s murder and when he went to check out the dead man s boat, he was still blind. This could mean that Pi didn t actually go on the Frenchman s boat but was actually exploring his boat and that the man was a figment of his imagination to suppress the loneliness Pi was feeling. Reset the wave to oscillate, adjust amplitude to 100, change frequency to 30 and change dampening to 30. What happens to the wave? What do you think dampening means in terms of energy? With the dampening, the amplitude of the wave decreases as the wave propagates along the x axis, but the wavelength appears to be about the same. The dampening must be causing a decrease in velocity because energy is mechanical = 1/2mv2 and velocity = Asin (ὠt). As energy decreases, so will amplitude. Decrease in energy can be caused by friction. Conclusion: The objective of this simulation was to create waves on a string by varying the amplitude and frequency of the oscillator and to compare the effect of string tension, dampening, and how the string is held at the end. If the string had no end, then the wave would propagate down the string toward infinity. If the string was held with a loose end, the wave would be reflected back at the oscillator or a fixed end, the wave would be inverted. When a reflected wave would combine with other waves coming from the opposite direction, the wave amplitudes of the waves are summed constructively (amplitudes of the waves are summed) or destructively (amplitudes of the waves cancel out each other). In the concluding chapter, Goffman begins with a discussion on his theory of self and then proceeds to question his analogy of theater and actors. In choosing to step back, Goffman acknowledges that the book and analogy are part of his opinion, and that others may disagree. While Goffman presents hesitation regarding the use of this analogy, for many readers the analogy allows them to better comprehend the structure of social encounters. Goffman uses actors and the theater to understand something about individuals and the way they interact in everyday life. In his conclusion, Goffman provides a theory of the self. According to Goffman, the self is composed of two parts the performer and the character. The theory being that the self is a performed character. • 45. The No Child Left Behing Act Introduction The Bush administration, as well as others, hoped to close achievement gaps and bring all children up to a higher standard. In order to do this, No Child Left Behind (NCLB) was enacted with the hope of an extreme education reform. It requires strict accountability and assessments for schools. This was done without proper funding and expectations that are difficult for schools and students to reach. This act caused many problems in schools rather than fixing the problems that already existed. Policy Formulation The Social Problem Many United States children are failing in the public schooling system. Students are dropping out at alarming rates and those who stay are not properly prepared for college and careers. There are vast achievement gaps leaving children behind that are minorities, come from low income families, are disabled, and are English learning (U.S. Department of Education). These problems are apparent to teachers, parents, students, employers, and society as a whole. This will leave the United States with a workforce that is not properly educated or trained for the jobs available. This ideology that all children regardless of income, minority, or disability should be able to receive a quality education to prepare them for college and careers. One of the biggest causes of this achievement gap is unequal funding. Poor, minority children are typically educated in urban schools that receive less funding than schools in suburban areas that educate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stereotypes are pictures that people get from a certain type of group that can be judged and can be exaggerated to a point where opinions tend to get out of hand. People live in a world where people judge others from top to bottom, when one sees others living their life in a way differently than they would live theirs, causes them to judge for the way the different people live. My personal experience has definitely made me a stronger person in hundreds of ways. In the summer of 2014, my grandmother was diagnosed with Parkinson s disease. A couple months later on, she then lost the ability to swallow food through her mouth. It was a ton to take in and there was nothing one could do, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. My Favorite Day Of The Week Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep It s a familiar sound. The infuriating, noise I absolutely despise. My deafening morning alarm. I was in la la land riding on a unicorn, eating aromatic and saccharine chocolate cookies. When suddenly my deep restful sleep is interrupted. Immediately, I cover my ears with my pillow and inside of myself, I cry a river of tears. It s a Monday morning, my absolute favourite day of the week. NOT! I hate it. Mondays are the worst. Monday is the last on my list of most cherished day in the week. Mondays are not for me. I am not for Mondays. Okay, maybe that was dramatic but I m making a point. To be specific, it s 5:00 a.m. in a shiver winter s morning. My body is weak, and my eyes refuse to open. I m in a state where my mind is awake, yet my body refuses to physically move and my eyes only want to stay shut. My feet are literally paralysed because of the extremely cold temperature. It s so cold I feel like my body will exceed its normal body temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. I may just catch hypothermia. Okay, not another beyond dramatic pause. I seriously need to wear my uniform. Just a few more minutes. Just ten more minutes, I tell myself. I lie in bed procrastinating and contemplating about anything and everything. Why do I live so far from school? I should ve gone to sleep earlier! Ugh! I hate Mondays. My thoughts accelerate beyond as the loud uproarious sound of my alarm rings once again, indicating it is now 5:30 am. That s basically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Competitive Strategy Of Samsung Samsung electronics has come a long way from being the world s leader in semiconductors to becoming a top competitor in the mobile handheld industry. Samsung s dynamic capability frameworks and resources allowed the company to gain competitive advantage and achieve growth in many different markets. Some of these capabilities and resources that led Samsung s success include; the ability to recognize opportunity through a visionary management team, intense acquisition of technology and learning, product and process innovation, a fluid manufacturing and assembly system and the ability to develop partnerships and joint ventures. In the midst of the global financial crisis, the Korean currency s value, won, had fallen tremendously. Samsung s management team saw this as an opportunity to start outsourcing from China, where they manufactured LCDs and Mobiles for a fraction of the price. By 2011, Samsung had the largest Mobile share in China. They decided that by moving out they would understand the surrounding markets (Zahou, 2015). Chairman Lee commissioned a task force team to make in depth market research to find out the needs of the market and to study the foreign trends. Feeling limited with the trends of the Asian ...
