Animal Farm Theme Essay
Writing an essay on the theme of Animal Farm can prove to be a challenging task, requiring a
comprehensive understanding of George Orwell's allegorical novella. The complexity arises from
the need to delve into the layers of political satire, social commentary, and historical context
embedded in the narrative. A successful essay on this theme requires not only a grasp of the plot
and characters but also a keen awareness of the underlying messages Orwell sought to convey.
To begin with, one must carefully analyze the characters and their symbolic representations,
drawing connections between the animals on the farm and real historical figures or political
ideologies. This involves a deep dive into Orwell's intent, considering the Russian Revolution
and its aftermath as key influences. Developing a nuanced understanding of the power
dynamics, manipulations, and betrayals within the story is crucial for crafting a compelling essay.
Furthermore, exploring the broader themes of totalitarianism, corruption, and the abuse of power
demands a critical examination of the novella's socio-political implications. The essay must
navigate the fine line between literary analysis and historical interpretation, requiring a synthesis
of literary elements and real-world events. This integration is essential for conveying the timeless
relevance of Animal Farm's themes.
In addition to the thematic complexities, addressing the allegorical nature of the novella poses
another layer of difficulty. Deciphering the allegory involves recognizing the parallels between
the fictional farm and the socio-political landscape Orwell aimed to critique. Crafting an
insightful essay requires the ability to draw thoughtful connections and provide well-reasoned
arguments that support the interpretation of Animal Farm as a powerful commentary on human
nature and societal structures.
Ultimately, writing an essay on the theme of Animal Farm demands not only a strong command
of literary analysis but also a keen awareness of historical and political contexts. Successfully
navigating these challenges can result in an essay that not only explores the intricacies of
Orwell's work but also sheds light on the broader implications for readers.

Cyber Surveillance And Intrusion Detection System Essay
Abstract
In this era of technology, everything is available at just one click; Security is a big
issue when we talk about networks. Hackers and intruders are getting smarter. There
are various methods to secure the network infrastructure and communication over the
Internet, for example firewalls, encryption, and virtual private networks. Intrusion
detection is a relatively new approach to such techniques. By using intrusion
detection, we can collect and use information from known types of attacks and find
out if someone is trying to attack the network/host.
Keywords: intrusion detection system
I.Introduction
Intrusions are the activities that violate the security policy of system. Intruders may
be from outside the network or legitimate users of the network. Intrusion can be a
physical, system or remote intrusion. Intrusion Detection is the process used to
identify intrusions i.e. a piece of software that monitors a computer system or
network resources to detect malicious activities unauthorized attempts to use the
system or abuse of existing privileges in a network or on a host system. It identifies
and stops attacks in progress and conducts forensic analysis once attack is over. It
detects intrusions and attacks that were not stopped by preventative techniques
(firewalls, packet filtering routers, proxy servers. In this whole approach, determining
who is much harder than just detecting that an intrusion occurred. Figure: The role of

Celebrity Advertising
Celebrity Endorsement
1. Introduction
In the past two or three decades celebrity advertising/endorsement has become
common practice amongst brands that wish to create and maintain attention, as well
as increase product or brand recall rates (Erdogan, 1999). However, the juxtaposition
of brands and organisations with admirable figures that possess qualities such as
likeability, attractiveness, trustworthiness and credibility is not a new phenomenon
(Erdogan, 1999). It is believed that an eighteenth century potter named Josia
Wedgewood was the pioneer of using celebrities to his advantage when Queen
Charlotte began using his products, after which he began referring to himself as
potter to Her Majesty (Seno amp; Lukas, 2007). Since ... Show more content on

A celebrity can either be an athlete, an actor/actress, a business person, a model, an
entertainer, or a pop star (Hsu amp; McDonald, 2002). They can appear in public
through/by: 1) their professional duties e.g. Tiger Woodsplaying golf in front of an
audience, 2) attending special events e.g. award shows and movie premiers, 3) the
media (news, fashion magazines and tabloids), or 4) the endorsement of products and
services (Schlecht, 2003). Even fictional characters such as Ronald McDonald and
Disney characters are considered to be celebrities because by definition, they also
receive a significant amount of attention and are easily recognisable (Khatri, 2006).
Through his/her line of work and the perceptions of people, a celebrity acquires
specific meanings that people associate with them and make them easily
distinguishable through their lifestyles, status and class, for example: Pierce
Brosnan (the former James Bond) is associated with class, sophistication,
masculinity and represents the upper social class (McKracken, 1989). In contrast,
another example would be Jamie Oliver (a European celebrity chef) who is
perceived as being free spirited, friendly, kind and likeable due to the nature of his
show, Oliver s Twist, being informal, easy going and relaxed (Byrne, Whitehead,
amp; Breen, 2003). These associations and perceptions
David Lachapelle Essay
The work of David LaChapelle can be seen everywhere you turn, be it on a
magazine rack, album cover, advertisement, or even a music video. Dubbed the
New Surrealist , LaChapelle s vivid, colorful, bizarre, and humorous images have
been admired by millions and have made him one of the most famous
photographers alive today. Since the start of his professional career, LaChapelle s
work has attracted the attention of many other artists, celebrities, journalists, and
regular people. I first noticed his work on advertisements in magazines several years

Lenzing Ag Case
Lenzing AG: Expanding in Indonesia
Case Review
Summary
Lenzing AG is one of the worlds largest rayon fiber manufacturers, originating in
Lenzing, Austria. In 1938 Lenzing AG was founded, starting pulp and viscose fiber
production.
Up until the 1980 s, Lenzing was a company that held its production and management
in the same country and town where the company had originated. Until one day , the
Chairman of Lenzing had agreed to go into a joint partnership with an international
investor. The joint venture was with an Indian entrepreneur by the name of Ashok
Birla, who saw opportunity in Indonesia for Lenzing and the rayon industry within.
Lenzing viewed this as an opportunity to break out of their domestic Austrian market,

As a producer of rayon, Lenzing s most important fundamental constituent is
dissolving grade pulp. This is a rather uncommon form of pulp, in which they have
been purchasing from Brazil to their production plant in Indonesia. This would be
viewed as a weakness, as in Indonesia there are 14 pulp producers, none with the
technology to create the dissolving grade pulp, but pulp none the less. I believe that
Lenzing has an opportunity to create an agreement with one or more of these local
pulp producers, to enable them to produce the necessary grade of pulp.
As rayon requires a large amount of pulp for its production, they have purchased a
percentage of a company in Brazil to meet their pulp needs. For Lenzing, this was a
valuable purchase and has made it possible for them to continue the production of
rayon in Indonesia. Although, I believe that there is an opportunity locally that would
satisfy their need for pulp. Indonesia has 14 producers of pulp, none of them with the
technology to create the required grade that is needed in the production of rayon.
Rather than purchasing a percentage of the pulp company in brazil, and having to
ship the pulp time after time internationally, it could have been a more economical
transaction with the Indonesian pulp companies. There could have been an

Causes of Rising Global Oil Prices Essay
Among the factors that often blamed the current price increases embrace the
renewed geopolitical concerns in the Middle East, declining excess capacity in oil
production, the production cuts agreed by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting
Countries, the devaluation of U.S. dollar against other most important currencies,
increased demand from rising countries and the noteworthy expansion in
provisional dealings on oil futures market. Traders and speculators can earn from
these changes in values through purchasing or selling Crude Oil CFD s (Kanter,

The head of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Harry Reid, should also allow a

a major shift in U.S. energy policy. For 26 years, Congress has renewed every year

Explain factors that may influence communication amp; interpersonal interactions in
health and social care environments.
I will be explaining the barrier which may have influenced the case study of Mr and
Mrs Singh s meeting with the MDT and how environmental factors influenced the
interaction within the meeting.
I am going to be looking at environmental factors such as, noise, setting, seating,
lighting, space and time.
Case Study
Mrs Singh has recently had major surgery and the meeting is aimed at organising a
discharge package for Mrs Singh.
Mrs Singh would most probably not feel 100% and may feel unwell and unable to
give her full attention and feel like her decisions could be the wrong one.
It states in the case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would give of the impression that she is an aggressive person at the least and
give the impression of not being bothered about Mrs. Singh s situation. For her
having to raise her voice to be heard over the environmental noise it is most
obvious that the setting in which they are in is a bad one and it must be very loud
and busy. As the MDT begin to discuss Mrs Singh. Alot of medical terminology is
used. This is Jargon and Mrs And Mrs singh will be confused and unsure of what is
being spoke about them also, they both speak minimal English which would be even
more difficult for them to comprehend and convert into what they would recognize.
On a positive note the MDT would get their own points over quicker to one another
because they would all understand what is being said and decided. Although Mr.
and Mrs Singh have no say and wouldn t understand because of the language and
Jargon used. They would no longer feel part of the meeting and feel to agree on
everything that has been spoken and decided for them. Time is very limited and the
doctors need to leave very shortly, they would no longer understand what is being
said and they would not be able to ask any questions as they would of felt
rushed. They would not understand the decision and outcome made for them.
This then led to Mrs Singh being uninterested due to all of them environmental
factors which have confused her. They both nod their heads intermittently, this

Overview of Macbeth
Not surprisingly, Macbeth has received volumes of critical commentary over the
years. Not only is the play an audience favorite, but its complex characterization,
deeply woven themes, and characteristic Shakespearean style make it rich ground for
scholarly inquiry. Critics such as Harold Bloom have remarked on the importance of
Macbethin the context of Shakespeare s works. In Shakespeare: The Invention of the
Human, Bloom writes, The rough magic in Macbeth is wholly Shakespeare s; he
indulges his own imagination as never before, seeking to find its moral limits (if
any). Bloom also remarks, Macbeth is an uncanny unity of setting, plot, and
characters, fused together beyond comparison with any other play of Shakespeare s.

As evidence, he notes how, although she is a strong character, Lady Macbeth is
onstage very little; and readers do not have the chance to get to know other
characters, such as Duncan, Malcolm, Banquo, and Macduff very well.
Although the minor characters appear only briefly (usually because they are
murdered) and their personas are not fully developed, readers and critics are drawn
to them. Duncan, for example, is held up as an example of a good king in contrast to
Macbeth s figure as a bad king. Van Doren remarks, Duncan was everything that
Macbeth is not. We saw him briefly, but the brilliance of his contrast with the thane
he trusted has kept his memory beautiful throughout a play whose every other feature
has been hideous. Similarly, Lady Macduff and her son appear fleetingly, but their
fate evokes the pity of the audience and rouses more indignation toward Macbeth.
A substantial body of criticism addresses Lady Macbeth. Her importance in the play
and her position as a dominant woman in Western literature have prompted lengthy
discussion and character evaluation. Ribner juxtaposes Lady Macbeth with Banquo in
her role in Macbeth s psychological makeup. He maintains that while Banquo
represents the part of Macbeth s divided nature that would accept nature and reject
evil, Lady Macbeth represents the other
Shrek and His Modern Princess Essay
Shrek and His Modern Princess
The film Shrek makes myriad allusions to various other texts. These allusions are
usually presented as a parody of an original text, in which the makers of Shrek
imitate the style of the parodied texts. Their re creation of these hypotexts (Dentith
36) involves subverting key aspects of the original texts, setting up incongruities
between what the audience expects to see and what actually takes place. The focus is
thus brought to the audience, as writers of media texts write based on assumptions
that they make of their audiences. Studying the assumptions behind the construction
of both the original texts and the parodies can then reveal something about the
audiences for whom these texts were created. ... Show more content on

In terms of Disney s fairy tale princess in Sleeping Beauty, the stereotypical woman
is helpless, weak, dependent and submissive. She is conventionally feminine,
wearing her hair long and in a braid, and wearing long dresses that show off her
womanly figure. In addition, she needs to be rescued by a gallant, conventionally
masculine prince on his noble steed as, being weak, she is unable to defend or save
herself. The character of Princess Fiona in Shrek is set up as a parody of Princess
Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. She finds herself in the exact same circumstances,
bound by a curse and imprisoned in a room in the highest tower of a castle. She also
shares Princess Aurora s external appearance, dressed in a long green gown with
long braided hair. As such, the audience watching Shrek is set up to expect Princess
Fiona to behave according to the stereotypes attached to the conventional female of
the 1950s as epitomized by Disney s fairy tale princess.
However, a close analysis of a particular scene in Shrek produces a complete
subversion of this expectation. This scene, which begins with Princess Fiona frying
and serving eggs as a peace offering to Shrek and Donkey for her unreasonable
behavior the day before, portrays the princess as a contemporary woman. It goes on
to show her single handedly fighting off
My Family And Family Life
With the power of hindsight I have come to understand the effect that my family
and family life has had on the person I was, on the person I am, and on the person I
hope to eventually become. On the day of my birth, I was welcomed into that
proverbial, ...it takes a village to raise a child . I had two parents that loved me.
Maternal grandparents that ensured that I knew the love of the Holy Trinity.
Neighbors who looked after me. Close familyfriends that I would end up calling
Aunt and Uncle , while calling their children Cousin , though there was no blood
relation. Unfortunately, my paternal grandparents had passed away before my
birth, and yet family members on my father s side were also considered to be a
part of my village . As the first born boy, to the youngest daughter in the family, I
was spoiled and coddled, especially by my grandparents. They lived about an hour
away, so we were always making trips to visit and they in turn would make
reciprocal trips. There were certain things that were expected and understood when
you visited Granny and Grandpa . The most important thing, however, was that
Sunday morning breakfast would be ready before Sunday school and Sunday Church
service. I grew up knowing and loving the Lord in a Baptist faith primarily because
of my grandparents. That is not to say that my parents were not practicing Christians,
because they were, it just seems that my grandparents set the tone with respect to my
religious upbringing. My
How Does Susan Glaspell Use Irony In A Jury Of Her Peers
In Susan Glaspell s short story A Jury of Her Peers , Sheriff Henry Peters, Mrs.
Peters, and George Henderson, the county attorney, go to the Wright s house to
investigate the murder of Mr. Wright. Along the way the Wright s neighbors, Mr. and
Mrs. Hale, come to help aid with the investigation. The prime suspect being accused
for this murder was Minnie Wright, Mr. Wright s wife. Then the story starts to
unravel as the characters walk into the Wright s home. In the series of events in A
Jury of Her Peers , Glaspell suggests that men subjugated women through the use of
symbolism, irony, and foreshadowing.
First, Glaspell makes effective use of symbolism to communicate the theme of
women being apprehensive to men. The theme is represented through Symbolism in
the story when Mr. Hale says women are used to worrying over trifles because it
shows how men perceive the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The overall irony in the story is that the men subjugate the women however, the
women are the ones that solve the murder and outsmart the men. The men would
rather ...go into [the] upstairs room and look for incriminating evidence than start
looking in the kitchen for clues downstairs. On the other hand, the women look
around the kitchen and the Wright s downstairs home to find the clues that connects
Mrs. Wright to the murder of her husband. This shows that while the men are being
superior looking for evidence upstairs, the women are the ones that outwit the men
and their superiority. Another instances that was ironic was that the men poked fun
at women for being worried about trifles and the little details but all of the evidence
were trifles. For example, the items such as, the dead canary, jars, and quilt, all have
a meaning that the men overlooked because it seemed insignificant. However the
women were able to piece the investigation together on who really killed Mr.

Gender Roles In Susan Glaspell s A Jury Of Her Peers
In 1882, Susan Glaspell was born in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Drake
University in 1899 and later worked as a reporter, then a freelance writer,
composing several pieces (Kirsner and Mandell 1124). Later Glaspell and her
husband, Cram Cook, founded the Provincetown Players for which Glaspell wrote
plays (1124). Many of her works conveyed the problems early twentieth century
women encountered in society. She wrote the play Trifles based on a murder trial
she covered as a courthouse reporter (1124). Glaspell later rewrote Trifles as a short
story called A Jury of Her Peer (1125). This piece introduces sisterhood between
characters and retaliates against the superiority of the male. In A Jury of Her Peers,
Glaspell uses setting, symbols, and irony to support the theme of genderroles.
Glaspell places the story A Jury of Her Peers in a woeful setting that one of the urban
farm neighbors, Mrs. Hale, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When investigating throughout the house, the men laugh about things that the
women become concerned about such as Mrs. Wright s fruit jars (Glaspell 264).
Mrs. Hale s husband states that women are used to worrying over trifles, referring
to things that the women tend to find important (264). However, the half wiped
table, half poured sugar, and the dirty pans (Alkalay Gut 3) are clues to the
investigation unseen by the men due to their inability to interpret things beyond
what they consider to be significant information (4). Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wright
conclude that Mrs. Wright was forced out of the pattern of her chores (3). Later, the
women find motive for John Wright s murder when they discover the strangled bird
that indicates to Mrs. Hale that Mrs. Wright found herself as a caged bird being
strangled by her husband (6). The ladies then transfer their roles from being married
to the law and following their spouses to sympathetic
Education Vs. Propaganda And Propaganda
Education vs. Propaganda
Education is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as: The process of receiving or
giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university; while
propaganda is defined as: Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature,
used to promote a political cause or point of view. (Oxford University Press, 2017)
By just the definition alone, one can spot several differences between education and
propaganda. Whereas education and propaganda are different as in education is truth
and propaganda is lies, they are also similar in the fact both are a form of
indoctrination and aimed towards aiding the government s own agenda.

Board of Education understates segregation stating, Under segregation, all white and
all African American schools sometimes had similar buildings, buses, and teachers.
Sometimes, however, the buildings, buses, and teachers for the all black schools
were lower in quality. Often, African American children had to travel far to get to
their school. (Strauss) This passage does not begin to hit on the disadvantages and
limitations placed on black students and citizens during the Jim Crow era. This is
only one example of one textbook downplaying segregation. Native American history
that is taught within the school is often misleading as well as incorrect. Students
learn about the first Thanksgiving in elementary, but not about the massacres that
were before and after. Students don t hear about how the English settlers came in to
claim land that was not theirs. When American History is taught it is taught from the
beginning of the Europeans finding America instead of the beginning of America.
American historians as well as textbooks ignore the fact that America has an
extensive history before the European conquest. (Forbes, pp.349) School boards are
allowing biased curriculum into the school systems, allowing students to be misled.
This is a form of propaganda. But why use propaganda in the education system?
Education is the indoctrination of children whereas propaganda is the indoctrination
The Short Term Mission Trips
Think about the poverty and problems that all countries around the world are facing
today and every day. As Americans we have an urge to go into these countries to
help as much as possible because of that we have begun a revolution. Americans
began going on mission trips around the 1960s but did not really pick up until the
1990s. The trend grew after multiple natural disasters, Americans saw and need and
went, since then short term missiontrips show no sign stopping anytime soon. As the
popularity of leaving our comfort zones, many people have found issues with the way
the trips are led to the extent of questioning whether or not these trips are really worth
the amount of money and time that they consume. Through periodicals, interviews,
narratives, and articles, I will show the issues and improvements that could be made
to the living situations, attitude of the Americans, and relationships that are acquired
during the short term mission trips.
In October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch slammed onto the coasts of multiple South
American countries. Countless people lost their homes, over eleven thousand
people lost their lives, and the hurricane left five billion dollars worth of damage in
its wake ( Hurricane Mitch ). This event caused a new wave of events also of short
term mission trips. Americans seeing the cities torn to shreds decided to act. For a
couple of weeks at a time, different groups would go clean up, rebuild, and show

Oil Drilling In National Parks Essay
Oil drilling in national parks is a topic that has been debated for a long period of
time and could have many benefits. Oil has been needed, searched for, and even
fought over for a long time. The first oil corporation, which was created to develop
oil found floating on water near Titusville, Pennsylvania, was the Pennsylvania
Rock Oil Company of Connecticut ( Oil Industry ). Oil drilling began to explode
after, Edwin L. Drake employed William Smith, an expert salt driller, to supervise
drilling operations and on August 27, 1859, they struck oil at a depth of sixty nine
feet. So far as is known, this was the first time that oil was tapped at its source,
using a drill ( Oil Industry ). Oil drilling is good for the economy but also bad as it
could harm animals, plants, tourists, and the environment along with many other
things. The chemicals in oil destroys the insulating abilities of sea otter fur, putting
the animals at risk to hypothermia (Good, Kate). Oil provides income which can help

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Villas
If you ve decided to look into independent villas in Chennai or are considering it,
then it will prove to be a great choice as Unitech has many new builds available.
Chennai is an ideal place to live for its many business opportunities, cultural activities,
and tourist industry. Villas are a suitable option whether you wantto invest, rent
commercially, or make one your permanent home. As with any large purchase or
househunting, there are a lot of factors in place which should be thought through
carefully as they will affect your decision. They can be confusing at times but these
are some of the main ones to think through before you start your villa hunting journey:
1.What Will You Use it For?
While villas may look the same, the intended use will affect which one you choose.
If it is for investment then you should study up on the investment history of the area
to see if it will pay off. If it is to rent out to tourists then ask if it is close enough to
the main tourist destinations and accessible from the airport and train station. If it is
for your own residential use then does it meet the standards and requirements you
need for your home, not just today but decades in the future?

1.1 Introduction of Rhizoctonia solani and its Anastomosis Groups
The soilborne Basidiomycete fungus Rhizoctonia solani KГјhn [telomorph=
Thanatephorus cucumeris] is reported to cause economically important diseases on
vegetables, fruits, staple crops and ornamental plants throughout the world (Jones
and Belmar, 1989; Naito et al., 1995; Yang et al., 1990). The systematic of R. solani
has been studied using morphological (Warcup et al., 1966; Sneh et al., 1991) and
molecular characters (Vilgalys and Gonzalez, 1990; Vilgalys and Cubeta, 1994).
Some most common and speculiar features of Rhizoctonia like branching at right

cucumeris (R. solani) were done on the formation of hetrokaryotic tufts at the site of
their hyphal connection between single spore homokaryotic cultures. In AGs 1 and 4,
hetrokaryon formation between two homokaryon is controlled by two closely linked
genes which together referred as H factor. Paired homokaryons that carry H factor
differing at one or both genes microscopically showing C2 reaction produce fluffy
tufts of heterokaryotic hyphae. Later studies revealed that H factor was also
controlling nuclear pairing stability of heterokaryon. On account of these findings,
Adams Butler (1982) have suggested heterokaryon incompatibility factors in
T.cucumeris are the same as sexual incompatibility factors. Anderson stated that
sexual vegetative incompatibility is same and reciprocal with each other. Sexual
compatibility was assessed macroscopically as formation of hertrokaryotic tufts when
homokaryons of two different mating types were paired. The tufts arising at the
junction between two homokaryon belongs to AGs 1 4 are heterokaryotic has been

Drinking Alcohol
Around the country there have been issues with the use of alcohol on college
campuses. The consumption of alcohol causes problems with the student s
education, health, and behavior. Many universities have had difficulties solving
these problems. Alcohol should be banned from college campuses. First, alcohol
effects the student s education. Over half of all college students have reported
drinking between the ages of eighteen and twenty four ( Alcohol Fact ). Of that
fraction of students, twenty five percent of them have experienced challenges with
their academics ( The Burden of ). For most college students, drinking has become
a part of their lives. Not only are these students drinking on the weekends, they are
also staying out late on school nights to party with friends; this can result in an act
of binge drinking. Binge drinking is when there is an excessive amount of alcohol
consumed in a short period of time ( Binge Drinking ). In a national survey, it
reported that students who took part in binge drinking were more likely to do
poorly in a class than those students who drank fewer times a week ( The Burden
of ). By doing this they are risking the chance of oversleeping or not being able to
focus in class the next day. In college, attendance mentally and physically is
important. If a student fails at either one of them multiple times, the chance of them
failing the class is very likely. Failing a class in which the parents or students are
paying for is a waste of
How Did Che Guevara Contribute To The Cuban Revolution
Che Guevara s partake in the Cuban Revolution is widely known, but his role of

The following can be concluded: With his very effective, but unusual mindset of no
retreat, no compromise, Guevara was able to set a truly revolutionary spirit within
the rebels, allowing them to push forward even through difficult times. With his
intellectual assets, he was able to build and maintain camps for rebels, in order to
place them into the correct mindset and having found a way to prevent their minds
from overheating galore. Guevara used his tactical knowledge to completely outplay
Batista s army, gain resources, and support from the rebels, which later ensured his
victory over the regime. When it comes to the extent to which Guevara provided
sustenance to the rebel army, one can hardly disagree that he setup the morale and
assure that health care and resources were available together to outsmart

The Louvre was not founded as a museum, and the road to attaining today s
program expanded across six centuries of monarchies, wars, treaties, and revolution.
Dating far back to the 12th century as a fortress for King Phillip II, the Louvre laid
foundations with protective walls, and underground crypts to function not as a
gallery for the public, but rather a stronghold for the private. As the decades turned,
the old Louvre acclimated to the needs of the monarchies, undergoing usage as both
a stronghold and a retreat, but entirely defense based nonetheless (Deitz). Two
centuries passed when Charles V altered the program from a bulwark of protection,
changing it into a residency. Here the program shifted towards a notion of more
public structure. Several French kings after, Francis I decorated the bulky fortress
with a French renaissance style, further changing the Louvre s appearance and
adapting the architecture to the art style of the time. This move would be seen again
in I. M. Pei s controversial addition. Under King Henry IV, the Louvre underwent
reconstruction (Kostof). During the rise of Versailles, artisans resided within the
Louvre s halls, giving way to the notion of an art influenced program for the building
A Interview With An Interview Essay
*For the purpose of this assignment and to keep the privacy of participates, the
interviewee will be addressed as such, or as Person A. The purpose of the
assignment was to interview another person and record it, then later analyze how
well you used interview techniques. The interview was to last fifteen minutes and
discuss why your interviewee had decided to choose a career in the health field.
General Aspects of an Interview Overall, the interview was accomplished with few
complications. There was definitely areas of the interview that need attending to,
and there were areas in which I excelled. The dyadic interview started with an
opening statement. I attempted to make Person A feel comfortable by asking a
simple question of How are you today? I believe I made Person A feel as
comfortable as possible in front of a camera and build a rapport. I could have
asked one or two more easy questions to lighten the mood. I was nervous being in
front of a camera especially for an assignment worth a large portion of my grade.
When I m nervous I sometimes bite my lip and unfortunately throughout the
interview I chewed my lip. This could have made Person A feel awkward if she
took it in uncomfortable way. The listening aspect of the interview I believe I did
very well in. I gave attention to what Person A was saying and tried to ask questions
that allowed her to elaborate, although there were a few instances that I missed the
opportunity. I also tried to write some notes down

No Name Woman By Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name
Woman
The final piece finds its place. A perfectly planned future envisioned by many, floats
mysteriously ahead, but one look back restrains the head from focusing forward
again, for the future is no longer certain when past events cloud the making of new
decisions. Human beings often fail to recognize the significance 0f pastevents and the
way they shape their future. This demonstrates the fact that a person s individual past
experiences often restrict the process of personal reinvention. Thus, one s history, and
specifically their childhood, confirms the current beliefs that affect their self
invention.
To begin, the opinions an individual formed as a child often delay or decrease
personal growth. From past experiences, people build a foundation of values and
morals. On one hand, self invention suggests that a person can separate the
development of their character from their past experiences, but on the other hand, a
person seldom reinvents themselves because ideas already set in place repress other
opportunities. Children remember specific customs such as family or cultural
traditions from their parents as they attempt to expand their knowledge. An example
of this concept from the short story, No Name Woman, written by Maxine Hong
Kingston, illustrates how a woman felt trapped by the customs she learned at a
young age, which eventually led to her death. Kingston states, She had to have
dealings with him other than sex. Perhaps he worked an adjoining field, or he sold

Corporate Training Evaluation Process Opportunity
Section I Corporate Training Evaluation Process Opportunity The financial retirement
industry relies on the professional education level of their employees to offer
effective and efficient assistance to its clients with an ethical responsibility of
accurate and complete financial reporting (Arthur, Wolfe, Staley, 2005). This requires
a significant amount of training to become proficient with the systems and very
knowledgeable of the guidelines and rules associated with transactional changes that
are allowed that must also extend to leadership proficiency and growth (Arthur,
Wolfe, Staley, 2005). According to Gomez (2003), evaluations of corporate training
programs within the financial recordkeeping industry focus on participant reactions
and the attainment of the training objective with little to no evaluation of changes to
on the job performances or organizational improvements. A truly effective evaluation
program has an ethical responsibility to address the seven main codes of ethics which
includes accountability, conflict of interest, disclosure, integrity, personal conduct,
protection of privacy, and social responsibility (Chow, 2001). The need to be
competitive to survive is just as important as the ethical responsibility of the
organization. According to Peak (as cited in Savery Luks, 2004), research shows that
there is a distinct correlation between increased training budgets and improved
productivity and operating profits reinforcing the common wisdom
Oroonoko Analysis
Aphra Behn s Oroonoko is arguably one of the most tragic novels in British
Literature. The love story of two enslaved Surinam nobilities, who both meet their
atrocious end, depicts shameful european history in regards of slavery. The words
painted white men as vile creatures who were known to be dishonest and ruthless.
Though one may say Behn s work brought light to a subject so taboo, others argue
that the novelplays into a racial narrative that minorities have struggled for
centuries to break free from. While Behn s explicit use of language expressed her
disapproval of colonists, I believe her work embodied the notion of whitewashing
the text gain approval of a particular group. Considering the fact, that Behn was the
first women to live by her pen, and broke cultural norms, it is unclear if her intention
was enclosing a shock factor, or exercising her ability to challenge societal norms for
the greater good. Oroonokodescribes how individuals are unable to be free people
who grow intellectually and ethically, instead slaveryholds these prisoners captive
leaving them a shell of a person. Living in a european world where ignorance is used
a bondage to restraint individuals from comprehending the severity of slavery, and the
impact these texts have made has shaped ideological forces that shouldn t be
disregarded. When deconstructing the text, I believe Alpha Behn s story of Oroonoko
falls under racisms constrained view and exhibits an unschooled thought in

Introduction. My Relationship Development Paper Is About
INTRODUCTION
My relationship development paper is about a girl named Breana Young; our
friendship was for about 3 years. The current stage is terminated.
INITIATING
I had first met Breana in the fifth grade; although we weren t in the same class, I
had met her at recess. The elementary school we went to was pretty small so
everyone in the same grade nearly knew everyone. We would occasionally make
awkward eye contact but never have actual conversation. Fast forward to the eighth
grade, Breana was friends with an old friend of mine named Nina, so I was seeing
her more and more often. Now that Nina and Breana had become friends, Breana
would sometimes eat lunch with Nina and I. She seemed pretty cool; I didn t know

Although we had two of the same classes and saw each other every day, we d only
speak in forensic science because we sat next to each other. Throughout forensic
science we d exchange laughs about the teachers we had and other students. One
day Breana called me by surprise, I wasn t expecting this because we usually only
spoke in school or texted each other about school work. During the conversation we
were discussing the upcoming homecoming dance and we began to talk about our
family dynamic and what our home life is like. As we were on the phone Breana
asked me to join her at Eleanor Roosevelt s homecoming football game, this was
the first time we had ever hung out with each other outside of school. After the
game her mom picked us up, this was the first time I had ever met her; after her
mom picked us up we had gone to her aunt s house where I had met more of her
family.
According to Johari s window the open box has grown larger because we are now
exchanging personal information and more details about each other. The hidden box
is still there because I m not fully comfortable with her yet and haven t spent much
time with her outside of school. The blind box exists because it contains Breana s first
impression about me and other feelings about me that I m unaware of.

As my junior year was coming to an end I realized that I made a new friend, Breana.
It was to my surprise because I had a
Prejudice In Today s Society
In today s society, prejudice is unfortunately all too common and we have all had to
confront it as individuals in our own way. Judge Taylor comment that, People
generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for (page 92), presents us
with a perfect definition of prejudice. The term involves pre judging a person or
situation and forming opinions on false assumptions about gender, race and social
status. In the Bildungsromannovel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee examines the
impact of prejudice on Boo Radley, Mrs. Dubose and Tom Robinson. These
characters in the story have not in any way harmed anyone, nor did they go against
the law. Yet, they were treated unreasonably as in Maycomb, people only notice the

Symbolic Interactionism In The Media
Media has been one of the biggest influence in any person s life no matter what age
they are. They are so many forms of media which makes it almost impossible to
avoid everyday, and with the advancement of technology it is only going to get
worse. Therefore, since it is almost impossible to avoid media, companies use this to
their advantage to send out messages or advertise their products through the media. In
addition to advertisingthrough media, businesses send out subliminal messages with
symbolic interactionism. Symbolic interactionism is a sociological perspective that is
influential in many areas of the sociological discipline, meaning that symbols are
used to promote a certain action from someone, but in this case I am referring to
companies promoting consumer participation through magazines and television
shows.
Magazine reading has gone down in the past decade, but it is still a great way to

Analysis Of The BookO Pioneers, By Willa Cather
A woman running a farm was a taboo topic in the late 19th century. She was met
with sexism and resentment from her peers. In O Pioneers!, the narrator,
Alexandra Bergson, shares the same perseverance and feminist perspective as the
author Willa Cather does; in addition, the novel reflects the hardships and strengths
faced by American pioneers in the 1890 s. Cather was inspired by the vast
possibility of the land that she grew up in, and incorporated that important aspect
of her life into the novel. Professor Amy Ahearn elaborated that Cather put the
shaggy grass country at the center of the novel, and allowed the form of the land
to provide the structure of the book (Ahearn). Her precious childhood hometown
was the basis of the setting of her novel. Alexandra s parents similarly immigrated
to Nebraska from Norway, and ran a large and successful farm. As her father was
dying, he gave her the responsibility to run the farm in his place, as she was the one
best suited for the task, surpassing her brothers. Further, journalist Amy Ahearn
describes that Alexandra had lost her gaiety and her femininity as she domesticated
and enlarged the property (Ahearn). As she ran the farm, she consequently had
various aspects of her persona changed. As a result of her hard work to change and
run the farm, Alexandra herself changes from a quiet lady to a prudent tomboy. She
was faced with a responsibility she felt obligated to carry out, because she wanted to

It will be easy for the company staff to keep track of available, reserved or rented
vehicle so as to avoid the confusion of reserving one vehicle for two clients which is a
common problem when using manual systems To the Client/customer
The customer will not have to travel to the company offices for Him to reserve of
rent a vehicle. He will do so at the comfort of his home or office.
1.4Problem Statement
Currently the system being used is a manual one where clients have to come
physically into the office in order for them to rent or reserve a vehicle. The system
poses a number of challenges that include:
1.Time consuming
In the current system, clients have to come to the company offices physically in
order to rent or reserve a vehicle which is a waste of time.
When there are many clients to be attended to it may take long for the company staff
to serve all of them.
2.Error Prone
The company staff are very likely to make errors when using the current manual
system, for example it is very easy to reserve one car for two clients, under charge or
overcharge a client.
3.Cost
The operating cost of the current System is high but with the implementation of the
Automated System only a few no of staff will be able to run the System.
1.5 Proposed solution
The problems of the current System will be addressed by the development of an
online vehicle rental and reservation System so that customers do not need to walk in
or call in
Original Definition of Art Essay
My definition of art is imagination and passion expressed by creating a visual
feature. I consider art to be a figurative of the imagination because everything starts
with thought. People create life by thinking of ways to develop; this then creates
art. It is as simple as watching a child draw a picture. I can recall imagining a
picture in my head and expressing my thoughts on paper. The drawing did not come
out as I imagined but it took me to a place and every time I saw the picture I thought
about the vision I had created in my head. Although art involves imagination, not
everyone has passion to create art. Art can be created through anger and frustration. I
think that is the best way to create art. It can show passion to the... Show more content

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.... This simple line has brought
entertainment and excitement to millions over multiple generations. The whole idea
of space and adventures thereof have always been dreamt of as long as the human
existence. Whether it be trans planetarium travel, or experiencing zero gravity. The
date was July 20, 1969, humans just landed on the moon. Who knew that this landing
could spark the idea of the most advanced and important franchise of movie history,
Star Wars. Star Wars has brought many different ideas to the cinematic world. The
production of movies has gone up in the past few years, with that being said, Star
Wars is the number one franchise in cinematic history.
Star Wars is an action packed space opera about a galaxy a long time ago in a far
away place. In this galaxy, a young slave boy, who lives in an outskirt planet that is
torn between rebellion and corruption of the intergalactic senate. After he is met by
these Jedi, peacekeepers of the galaxy, he is pushed through different tests, to see if
he is the chosen one from a prophecy. After a turn of events, this once slave boy,
becomes one of the darkest villains of all time, Darth Vader. Darth Vader corrupts
the entire galactic senate, and chooses to destroy an entire planet inhabited by rebel
forces. After being stopped by an unlikely foe, Darth Vader reroutes his tactics to end
this entire siege of mayhem and corruption. In the end Darth Vader learns of his son,

Aol Controversial Accounting Policies
AOL ASSIGNMENT
There were two accounting policies used by AOL that were considered aggressive,
as well as controversial. The first was to amortize its software development costs and
the second was to capitalize subscriber acquisition costs. The lifetime, for
amortization purposes, which AOL assigned to software development costs was five
years. This was considered by many to be an exceptionally long time considering the
pace at which technology was progressing during that period of time. However, none
of the regulatory or advisory agencies had established an absolute useful life
designation, and the only available reference point at that time was the FASB
Statement #86 of August 1985. It established that costs for internally ... Show more

However, a stock drop in the U.S. market is not historically unusual for impending
mergers. So, all things considered, it looked like this might be a great combination.
But in the period following the official merger, financial problems would start to
beset the newly formed parent company. The first issue of major effect was the FASB
implementation of SFAS142 which required annual testing of impairment to goodwill
(and other intangible assets) instead of annual amortization. This ruling became
effective for the year 2000, just twelve months after the official merger. It forced
AOL TIME WARNERto take a one time charge against income of $54 billion in the
first quarter of 2002, and an additional $45.538 billion in the last quarter of 2002.
This was an astounding amount of nearly $100 billion dollars, predominantly
attributable to the erosion of AOL s market value.
In the second quarter of 2000, AOL settled with the SEC with regard to its
previously discussed controversial accounting policies. AOL agreed to pay a $3.5
million fine and to reissue earnings statements for years 1995 and 1996. By so
doing, it wiped out all the profits the company had made. In the 4th quarter of 2002,
AOL registered its first decrease in subscriptions with a loss of 200,000 members.
Every quarter after that showed additional losses, until at the spin off in December
Efficacy And Efficacy Of Self Efficacy
Literature Review This chapter provides a review of the literature from the past
fourteen years devoted to the study of efficacy, teacher efficacy, and collective
teacher efficacy. Self efficacy, social cognitive theory, and sources of self efficacy
are described. A brief history of efficacy studies and current research on teacher
efficacy and collective efficacy are included as well as different leadership styles.
Additionally, information regarding the inclusion of demographic characteristics
in efficacy research and the interrelationship between teacher efficacy and
leadership are reviewed. Finally, the need for effective leadership and teacher
efficacy. Self Efficacy These concepts of teacher efficacy and collective efficacy
have their origins in self efficacy, a component of social cognitive theory. Beliefs of
self efficacy form the basis for human behavior choices.Restated by (2003) Roger
D. Goddard, Wayne K. Hoy and Anita Woolfolk originally stated by Bandura
(1997) offered the following definition of self efficacy: Perceived self efficacy
refers to beliefs in one s capabilities to organize and execute the courses of action
required to produce given attainments (p . 3 ). Individuals base their
actions, responses, and choices on their perceived self efficacy. In addition to
influencing the choices people make and the actions they take, self efficacy beliefs
impact how much effort individuals will put forth on a particular task, how long they
will persevere when

Why The Grizzly Divided In The Bare Bears
What if you see three bears right in front of you on the street? I bet you will scream
and run. The situation could be totally different if it happens in a cartoon on the
screen. The Bare Bears is such a story about humanised bears in human society,
created by Daniel Chong. The main characters are three bears as indicated in the title.
They are grizzly, panda and ice bear. The grizzly is always active and enthusiastic on
making friends, whereas Panda is like a normal geek, obsessed with his phone all day
long. Ice bear is as silent as ice, but he is the backup force of the bear family, because
he is capable of literally everything. By the way, he is also an excellent cook. The
show is primarily a comedy about the laughs and tears during their... Show more

Females also favour their same sex friend more than opposite sex friends in kinder
garden.(Lundy, Field et al. 1998) People also enjoy more about the interaction
with same sex friends in preadolescence.(Strough and Covatto 2002) The situation
changes as they grow older, OSFs are found more intimate than in younger
age.(Sharabany, Gershoni et al. 1981) Adolescents over 16 are more probable to
have a OSF who is very close to them.(Kuttler, La Greca et al. 1999) Older
adolescents are also expected to enjoy more when interacting with OSF.(Strough
and Covatto 2002) Another interesting research by Hartup and Stevens found that
having SSFs in childhood will forecast the romantic relationship later during
adolescence.(Hartup and Stevens 1997) Above all, SSF plays a important role in
early life span of individuals, but OSF gradually become more frequent as the
person grows older. There is an implication that OSF is taking the role of SSF in the
childhood period. SSF is also a preparation for the relationship growth of OSF.
Regarding that OSF is a potential beneficial component of mating process and
therefore reproductive success. It seems that SSF relates to evolutional success of
individual through the function of OSF

The city of Denver and the western pioneers that founded it are analogous with one
another. In the mid 1800s, the eastern United States lacked the employment
opportunities and lifestyle that many people desired. In result of this unfortunate
economic downturn, people known as the pioneers travelled west in search of new
opportunities. People came from all walks of life from lower class to the wealthy
to pioneer the unexplored lands. They started their journey from the overcrowded
East coming from states like Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Iowa, and Illinois. Some
were in search of new beginnings, others searching for gold. In 1859, during the Pike
s Peak Gold Rush, gold was found in where the Chicago Creek and Clear Creek meet

On the morning of November 29th, 1864 soldier under command of Colonel John
Chivington attacked a Native American village in Sand Creek, Colorado Territory
(Benson). While the Native Americans believed that they were under the protection
of the Army, the soldiers under Chivington s command had other plans. By the end
of what was to be called the Sand Creek Massacre over two hundred Native
American women, children, and elderly laid dead (Benson). In a study by the
University of Denver in 2014 it was concluded that the University of Denver s
founder and then governor of Colorado Territory, John Evans, was largely at fault for
the massacre (Benson). The report stated, We conclude that John Evans s pattern of
neglect of his treaty negotiating duties, his leadership failures, and his reckless
decision making in 1864 combine to clearly demonstrate a significant level of
culpability for the Sand Creek Massacre (Benson). It was deemed that Evans s
culpability was comparable to that of Colonel John Chivington, the one who
personally planned and carried out the massacre. Evans intentionally strained tensions
instead of calming them and rejected opportunities to engage in peaceful negotiations
with the Native American s of the region. Additionally, he successfully lobbied the
U.S. Department of War for executing a military infantry regiment,

Animal Farm Theme Essay. Animal Farm Theme Essay by Michelle Hughes Teachers Pay Teachers

  • 1. Animal Farm Theme Essay Writing an essay on the theme of Animal Farm can prove to be a challenging task, requiring a comprehensive understanding of George Orwell's allegorical novella. The complexity arises from the need to delve into the layers of political satire, social commentary, and historical context embedded in the narrative. A successful essay on this theme requires not only a grasp of the plot and characters but also a keen awareness of the underlying messages Orwell sought to convey. To begin with, one must carefully analyze the characters and their symbolic representations, drawing connections between the animals on the farm and real historical figures or political ideologies. This involves a deep dive into Orwell's intent, considering the Russian Revolution and its aftermath as key influences. Developing a nuanced understanding of the power dynamics, manipulations, and betrayals within the story is crucial for crafting a compelling essay. Furthermore, exploring the broader themes of totalitarianism, corruption, and the abuse of power demands a critical examination of the novella's socio-political implications. The essay must navigate the fine line between literary analysis and historical interpretation, requiring a synthesis of literary elements and real-world events. This integration is essential for conveying the timeless relevance of Animal Farm's themes. In addition to the thematic complexities, addressing the allegorical nature of the novella poses another layer of difficulty. Deciphering the allegory involves recognizing the parallels between the fictional farm and the socio-political landscape Orwell aimed to critique. Crafting an insightful essay requires the ability to draw thoughtful connections and provide well-reasoned arguments that support the interpretation of Animal Farm as a powerful commentary on human nature and societal structures. Ultimately, writing an essay on the theme of Animal Farm demands not only a strong command of literary analysis but also a keen awareness of historical and political contexts. Successfully navigating these challenges can result in an essay that not only explores the intricacies of Orwell's work but also sheds light on the broader implications for readers. • 2. Cyber Surveillance And Intrusion Detection System Essay Abstract In this era of technology, everything is available at just one click; Security is a big issue when we talk about networks. Hackers and intruders are getting smarter. There are various methods to secure the network infrastructure and communication over the Internet, for example firewalls, encryption, and virtual private networks. Intrusion detection is a relatively new approach to such techniques. By using intrusion detection, we can collect and use information from known types of attacks and find out if someone is trying to attack the network/host. Keywords: intrusion detection system I.Introduction Intrusions are the activities that violate the security policy of system. Intruders may be from outside the network or legitimate users of the network. Intrusion can be a physical, system or remote intrusion. Intrusion Detection is the process used to identify intrusions i.e. a piece of software that monitors a computer system or network resources to detect malicious activities unauthorized attempts to use the system or abuse of existing privileges in a network or on a host system. It identifies and stops attacks in progress and conducts forensic analysis once attack is over. It detects intrusions and attacks that were not stopped by preventative techniques (firewalls, packet filtering routers, proxy servers. In this whole approach, determining who is much harder than just detecting that an intrusion occurred. Figure: The role of Intrusion Detection in network
  • 3. Celebrity Advertising Celebrity Endorsement 1. Introduction In the past two or three decades celebrity advertising/endorsement has become common practice amongst brands that wish to create and maintain attention, as well as increase product or brand recall rates (Erdogan, 1999). However, the juxtaposition of brands and organisations with admirable figures that possess qualities such as likeability, attractiveness, trustworthiness and credibility is not a new phenomenon (Erdogan, 1999). It is believed that an eighteenth century potter named Josia Wedgewood was the pioneer of using celebrities to his advantage when Queen Charlotte began using his products, after which he began referring to himself as potter to Her Majesty (Seno amp; Lukas, 2007). Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A celebrity can either be an athlete, an actor/actress, a business person, a model, an entertainer, or a pop star (Hsu amp; McDonald, 2002). They can appear in public through/by: 1) their professional duties e.g. Tiger Woodsplaying golf in front of an audience, 2) attending special events e.g. award shows and movie premiers, 3) the media (news, fashion magazines and tabloids), or 4) the endorsement of products and services (Schlecht, 2003). Even fictional characters such as Ronald McDonald and Disney characters are considered to be celebrities because by definition, they also receive a significant amount of attention and are easily recognisable (Khatri, 2006). Through his/her line of work and the perceptions of people, a celebrity acquires specific meanings that people associate with them and make them easily distinguishable through their lifestyles, status and class, for example: Pierce Brosnan (the former James Bond) is associated with class, sophistication, masculinity and represents the upper social class (McKracken, 1989). In contrast, another example would be Jamie Oliver (a European celebrity chef) who is perceived as being free spirited, friendly, kind and likeable due to the nature of his show, Oliver s Twist, being informal, easy going and relaxed (Byrne, Whitehead, amp; Breen, 2003). These associations and perceptions

Dubbed the New Surrealist , LaChapelle s vivid, colorful, bizarre, and humorous images have been admired by millions and have made him one of the most famous photographers alive today. Since the start of his professional career, LaChapelle s work has attracted the attention of many other artists, celebrities, journalists, and regular people. I first noticed his work on advertisements in magazines several years ago. I immediately felt drawn to his images they are photographs I could stare at for hours, playing out in my head the story each photograph is telling and what it says about the character... In 1995, at only 26 years old, he was named Best New Photographer of the Year by both French Photo Magazine and American Photo Magazines. The following year he published his first book, LaChapelle Land which caused him to gain a great deal of recognition. That same year, he was named Photographer of the Year at the VH1 Fashion Awards. LaChapelle s work had definitely made a huge presence in the music video industry that year, and from that point on he was called upon to direct music videos for many
  • 5. Lenzing Ag Case Lenzing AG: Expanding in Indonesia Case Review Summary Lenzing AG is one of the worlds largest rayon fiber manufacturers, originating in Lenzing, Austria. In 1938 Lenzing AG was founded, starting pulp and viscose fiber production. Up until the 1980 s, Lenzing was a company that held its production and management in the same country and town where the company had originated. Until one day , the Chairman of Lenzing had agreed to go into a joint partnership with an international investor. The joint venture was with an Indian entrepreneur by the name of Ashok Birla, who saw opportunity in Indonesia for Lenzing and the rayon industry within. Lenzing viewed this as an opportunity to break out of their domestic Austrian market, and tap ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a producer of rayon, Lenzing s most important fundamental constituent is dissolving grade pulp. This is a rather uncommon form of pulp, in which they have been purchasing from Brazil to their production plant in Indonesia. This would be viewed as a weakness, as in Indonesia there are 14 pulp producers, none with the technology to create the dissolving grade pulp, but pulp none the less. I believe that Lenzing has an opportunity to create an agreement with one or more of these local pulp producers, to enable them to produce the necessary grade of pulp. As rayon requires a large amount of pulp for its production, they have purchased a percentage of a company in Brazil to meet their pulp needs. For Lenzing, this was a valuable purchase and has made it possible for them to continue the production of rayon in Indonesia. Although, I believe that there is an opportunity locally that would satisfy their need for pulp. Indonesia has 14 producers of pulp, none of them with the technology to create the required grade that is needed in the production of rayon. Rather than purchasing a percentage of the pulp company in brazil, and having to ship the pulp time after time internationally, it could have been a more economical transaction with the Indonesian pulp companies. There could have been an opportunity to

Causes of Rising Global Oil Prices Essay Among the factors that often blamed the current price increases embrace the renewed geopolitical concerns in the Middle East, declining excess capacity in oil production, the production cuts agreed by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, the devaluation of U.S. dollar against other most important currencies, increased demand from rising countries and the noteworthy expansion in provisional dealings on oil futures market. Traders and speculators can earn from these changes in values through purchasing or selling Crude Oil CFD s (Kanter, 2008). • 7. Essay about P3 P3 Explain factors that may influence communication amp; interpersonal interactions in health and social care environments. I will be explaining the barrier which may have influenced the case study of Mr and Mrs Singh s meeting with the MDT and how environmental factors influenced the interaction within the meeting. I am going to be looking at environmental factors such as, noise, setting, seating, lighting, space and time. Case Study Mrs Singh has recently had major surgery and the meeting is aimed at organising a discharge package for Mrs Singh. For her having to raise her voice to be heard over the environmental noise it is most obvious that the setting in which they are in is a bad one and it must be very loud and busy. As the MDT begin to discuss Mrs Singh. Alot of medical terminology is used. This is Jargon and Mrs And Mrs singh will be confused and unsure of what is being spoke about them also, they both speak minimal English which would be even more difficult for them to comprehend and convert into what they would recognize. On a positive note the MDT would get their own points over quicker to one another because they would all understand what is being said and decided. Although Mr. and Mrs Singh have no say and wouldn t understand because of the language and Jargon used. They would no longer feel part of the meeting and feel to agree on everything that has been spoken and decided for them. Time is very limited and the doctors need to leave very shortly, they would no longer understand what is being said and they would not be able to ask any questions as they would of felt rushed. They would not understand the decision and outcome made for them. This then led to Mrs Singh being uninterested due to all of them environmental factors which have confused her. They both nod their heads intermittently, this suggests
  • 8. Overview of Macbeth Not surprisingly, Macbeth has received volumes of critical commentary over the years. Not only is the play an audience favorite, but its complex characterization, deeply woven themes, and characteristic Shakespearean style make it rich ground for scholarly inquiry. Critics such as Harold Bloom have remarked on the importance of Macbethin the context of Shakespeare s works. In Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human, Bloom writes, The rough magic in Macbeth is wholly Shakespeare s; he indulges his own imagination as never before, seeking to find its moral limits (if any). Bloom also remarks, Macbeth is an uncanny unity of setting, plot, and characters, fused together beyond comparison with any other play of Shakespeare s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As evidence, he notes how, although she is a strong character, Lady Macbeth is onstage very little; and readers do not have the chance to get to know other characters, such as Duncan, Malcolm, Banquo, and Macduff very well. Although the minor characters appear only briefly (usually because they are murdered) and their personas are not fully developed, readers and critics are drawn to them. Duncan, for example, is held up as an example of a good king in contrast to Macbeth s figure as a bad king. Van Doren remarks, Duncan was everything that Macbeth is not. We saw him briefly, but the brilliance of his contrast with the thane he trusted has kept his memory beautiful throughout a play whose every other feature has been hideous. Similarly, Lady Macduff and her son appear fleetingly, but their fate evokes the pity of the audience and rouses more indignation toward Macbeth. A substantial body of criticism addresses Lady Macbeth. Her importance in the play and her position as a dominant woman in Western literature have prompted lengthy discussion and character evaluation. Ribner juxtaposes Lady Macbeth with Banquo in her role in Macbeth s psychological makeup. He maintains that while Banquo represents the part of Macbeth s divided nature that would accept nature and reject evil, Lady Macbeth represents the other
  • 9. Shrek and His Modern Princess Essay Shrek and His Modern Princess The film Shrek makes myriad allusions to various other texts. These allusions are usually presented as a parody of an original text, in which the makers of Shrek imitate the style of the parodied texts. Their re creation of these hypotexts (Dentith 36) involves subverting key aspects of the original texts, setting up incongruities between what the audience expects to see and what actually takes place. The focus is thus brought to the audience, as writers of media texts write based on assumptions that they make of their audiences. Studying the assumptions behind the construction of both the original texts and the parodies can then reveal something about the audiences for whom these texts were created. ... She is conventionally feminine, wearing her hair long and in a braid, and wearing long dresses that show off her womanly figure. In addition, she needs to be rescued by a gallant, conventionally masculine prince on his noble steed as, being weak, she is unable to defend or save herself. The character of Princess Fiona in Shrek is set up as a parody of Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. She finds herself in the exact same circumstances, bound by a curse and imprisoned in a room in the highest tower of a castle. She also shares Princess Aurora s external appearance, dressed in a long green gown with long braided hair. As such, the audience watching Shrek is set up to expect Princess Fiona to behave according to the stereotypes attached to the conventional female of the 1950s as epitomized by Disney s fairy tale princess. However, a close analysis of a particular scene in Shrek produces a complete subversion of this expectation. This scene, which begins with Princess Fiona frying and serving eggs as a peace offering to Shrek and Donkey for her unreasonable behavior the day before, portrays the princess as a contemporary woman. It goes on to show her single handedly fighting off
  • 10. My Family And Family Life With the power of hindsight I have come to understand the effect that my family and family life has had on the person I was, on the person I am, and on the person I hope to eventually become. On the day of my birth, I was welcomed into that proverbial, ...it takes a village to raise a child . I had two parents that loved me. Maternal grandparents that ensured that I knew the love of the Holy Trinity. Neighbors who looked after me. Close familyfriends that I would end up calling Aunt and Uncle , while calling their children Cousin , though there was no blood relation. Unfortunately, my paternal grandparents had passed away before my birth, and yet family members on my father s side were also considered to be a part of my village . As the first born boy, to the youngest daughter in the family, I was spoiled and coddled, especially by my grandparents. They lived about an hour away, so we were always making trips to visit and they in turn would make reciprocal trips. There were certain things that were expected and understood when you visited Granny and Grandpa . The most important thing, however, was that Sunday morning breakfast would be ready before Sunday school and Sunday Church service. I grew up knowing and loving the Lord in a Baptist faith primarily because of my grandparents. That is not to say that my parents were not practicing Christians, because they were, it just seems that my grandparents set the tone with respect to my religious upbringing. My

How Does Susan Glaspell Use Irony In A Jury Of Her Peers In Susan Glaspell s short story A Jury of Her Peers , Sheriff Henry Peters, Mrs. Peters, and George Henderson, the county attorney, go to the Wright s house to investigate the murder of Mr. Wright. Along the way the Wright s neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Hale, come to help aid with the investigation. The prime suspect being accused for this murder was Minnie Wright, Mr. Wright s wife. Then the story starts to unravel as the characters walk into the Wright s home. In the series of events in A Jury of Her Peers , Glaspell suggests that men subjugated women through the use of symbolism, irony, and foreshadowing. First, Glaspell makes effective use of symbolism to communicate the theme of women being apprehensive to men. The theme is represented through Symbolism in the story when Mr. Hale says women are used to worrying over trifles because it shows how men perceive the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The overall irony in the story is that the men subjugate the women however, the women are the ones that solve the murder and outsmart the men. On the other hand, the women look around the kitchen and the Wright s downstairs home to find the clues that connects Mrs. Wright to the murder of her husband. This shows that while the men are being superior looking for evidence upstairs, the women are the ones that outwit the men and their superiority. Another instances that was ironic was that the men poked fun at women for being worried about trifles and the little details but all of the evidence were trifles. For example, the items such as, the dead canary, jars, and quilt, all have a meaning that the men overlooked because it seemed insignificant. However the women were able to piece the investigation together on who really killed Mr.

  • 13. Gender Roles In Susan Glaspell s A Jury Of Her Peers In 1882, Susan Glaspell was born in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Drake University in 1899 and later worked as a reporter, then a freelance writer, composing several pieces (Kirsner and Mandell 1124). Later Glaspell and her husband, Cram Cook, founded the Provincetown Players for which Glaspell wrote plays (1124). Many of her works conveyed the problems early twentieth century women encountered in society. She wrote the play Trifles based on a murder trial she covered as a courthouse reporter (1124). Glaspell later rewrote Trifles as a short story called A Jury of Her Peer (1125). This piece introduces sisterhood between characters and retaliates against the superiority of the male. In A Jury of Her Peers, Glaspell uses setting, symbols, and irony to support the theme of genderroles. However, the half wiped table, half poured sugar, and the dirty pans (Alkalay Gut 3) are clues to the investigation unseen by the men due to their inability to interpret things beyond what they consider to be significant information (4). Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wright conclude that Mrs. Wright was forced out of the pattern of her chores (3). Later, the women find motive for John Wright s murder when they discover the strangled bird that indicates to Mrs. Hale that Mrs. Wright found herself as a caged bird being strangled by her husband (6). The ladies then transfer their roles from being married to the law and following their spouses to sympathetic
  • 14. Education Vs. Propaganda And Propaganda Education vs. Propaganda Education is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as: The process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university; while propaganda is defined as: Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view. (Oxford University Press, 2017) By just the definition alone, one can spot several differences between education and propaganda. Whereas education and propaganda are different as in education is truth and propaganda is lies, they are also similar in the fact both are a form of indoctrination and aimed towards aiding the government s own agenda. Board of Education understates segregation stating, Under segregation, all white and all African American schools sometimes had similar buildings, buses, and teachers. Sometimes, however, the buildings, buses, and teachers for the all black schools were lower in quality. Often, African American children had to travel far to get to their school. (Strauss) This passage does not begin to hit on the disadvantages and limitations placed on black students and citizens during the Jim Crow era. This is only one example of one textbook downplaying segregation. Native American history that is taught within the school is often misleading as well as incorrect. Students learn about the first Thanksgiving in elementary, but not about the massacres that were before and after. Students don t hear about how the English settlers came in to claim land that was not theirs. When American History is taught it is taught from the beginning of the Europeans finding America instead of the beginning of America. American historians as well as textbooks ignore the fact that America has an extensive history before the European conquest. (Forbes, pp.349) School boards are allowing biased curriculum into the school systems, allowing students to be misled. This is a form of propaganda. But why use propaganda in the education system? Education is the indoctrination of children whereas propaganda is the indoctrination
  • 15. The Short Term Mission Trips Think about the poverty and problems that all countries around the world are facing today and every day. As Americans we have an urge to go into these countries to help as much as possible because of that we have begun a revolution. Americans began going on mission trips around the 1960s but did not really pick up until the 1990s. The trend grew after multiple natural disasters, Americans saw and need and went, since then short term missiontrips show no sign stopping anytime soon. As the popularity of leaving our comfort zones, many people have found issues with the way the trips are led to the extent of questioning whether or not these trips are really worth the amount of money and time that they consume. Through periodicals, interviews, narratives, and articles, I will show the issues and improvements that could be made to the living situations, attitude of the Americans, and relationships that are acquired during the short term mission trips. In October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch slammed onto the coasts of multiple South American countries. Countless people lost their homes, over eleven thousand people lost their lives, and the hurricane left five billion dollars worth of damage in its wake ( Hurricane Mitch ). This event caused a new wave of events also of short term mission trips. Americans seeing the cities torn to shreds decided to act. For a couple of weeks at a time, different groups would go clean up, rebuild, and show love to the people of these devastated

Oil has been needed, searched for, and even fought over for a long time. The first oil corporation, which was created to develop oil found floating on water near Titusville, Pennsylvania, was the Pennsylvania Rock Oil Company of Connecticut ( Oil Industry ). Oil drilling began to explode after, Edwin L. Drake employed William Smith, an expert salt driller, to supervise drilling operations and on August 27, 1859, they struck oil at a depth of sixty nine feet. So far as is known, this was the first time that oil was tapped at its source, using a drill ( Oil Industry ). Oil drilling is good for the economy but also bad as it could harm animals, plants, tourists, and the environment along with many other things. The chemicals in oil destroys the insulating abilities of sea otter fur, putting the animals at risk to hypothermia (Good, Kate). Oil provides income which can help improve the economy by... The Louvre was not founded as a museum, and the road to attaining today s program expanded across six centuries of monarchies, wars, treaties, and revolution. Dating far back to the 12th century as a fortress for King Phillip II, the Louvre laid foundations with protective walls, and underground crypts to function not as a gallery for the public, but rather a stronghold for the private. As the decades turned, the old Louvre acclimated to the needs of the monarchies, undergoing usage as both a stronghold and a retreat, but entirely defense based nonetheless (Deitz). Two centuries passed when Charles V altered the program from a bulwark of protection, changing it into a residency. Here the program shifted towards a notion of more public structure. Several French kings after, Francis I decorated the bulky fortress with a French renaissance style, further changing the Louvre s appearance and adapting the architecture to the art style of the time. This move would be seen again in I. M. Pei s controversial addition. Under King Henry IV, the Louvre underwent reconstruction (Kostof). During the rise of Versailles, artisans resided within the Louvre s halls, giving way to the notion of an art influenced program for the building

A perfectly planned future envisioned by many, floats mysteriously ahead, but one look back restrains the head from focusing forward again, for the future is no longer certain when past events cloud the making of new decisions. Human beings often fail to recognize the significance 0f pastevents and the way they shape their future. This demonstrates the fact that a person s individual past experiences often restrict the process of personal reinvention. Thus, one s history, and specifically their childhood, confirms the current beliefs that affect their self invention. To begin, the opinions an individual formed as a child often delay or decrease personal growth. From past experiences, people build a foundation of values and morals. On one hand, self invention suggests that a person can separate the development of their character from their past experiences, but on the other hand, a person seldom reinvents themselves because ideas already set in place repress other opportunities. Children remember specific customs such as family or cultural traditions from their parents as they attempt to expand their knowledge. An example of this concept from the short story, No Name Woman, written by Maxine Hong Kingston, illustrates how a woman felt trapped by the customs she learned at a young age, which eventually led to her death. In O Pioneers!, the narrator, Alexandra Bergson, shares the same perseverance and feminist perspective as the author Willa Cather does; in addition, the novel reflects the hardships and strengths faced by American pioneers in the 1890 s. Cather was inspired by the vast possibility of the land that she grew up in, and incorporated that important aspect of her life into the novel. Professor Amy Ahearn elaborated that Cather put the shaggy grass country at the center of the novel, and allowed the form of the land to provide the structure of the book (Ahearn). Her precious childhood hometown was the basis of the setting of her novel. Alexandra s parents similarly immigrated to Nebraska from Norway, and ran a large and successful farm. As her father was dying, he gave her the responsibility to run the farm in his place, as she was the one best suited for the task, surpassing her brothers. Further, journalist Amy Ahearn describes that Alexandra had lost her gaiety and her femininity as she domesticated and enlarged the property (Ahearn). As a result of her hard work to change and run the farm, Alexandra herself changes from a quiet lady to a prudent tomboy. • 40. Original Definition of Art Essay My definition of art is imagination and passion expressed by creating a visual feature. I consider art to be a figurative of the imagination because everything starts with thought. People create life by thinking of ways to develop; this then creates art. It is as simple as watching a child draw a picture. I can recall imagining a picture in my head and expressing my thoughts on paper. The drawing did not come out as I imagined but it took me to a place and every time I saw the picture I thought about the vision I had created in my head. Although art involves imagination, not everyone has passion to create art. Art can be created through anger and frustration. I think that is the best way to create art. It can show passion to the... • 43. Aol Controversial Accounting Policies AOL ASSIGNMENT There were two accounting policies used by AOL that were considered aggressive, as well as controversial. The first was to amortize its software development costs and the second was to capitalize subscriber acquisition costs. The lifetime, for amortization purposes, which AOL assigned to software development costs was five years. This was considered by many to be an exceptionally long time considering the pace at which technology was progressing during that period of time. However, none of the regulatory or advisory agencies had established an absolute useful life designation, and the only available reference point at that time was the FASB Statement #86 of August 1985. So, all things considered, it looked like this might be a great combination. But in the period following the official merger, financial problems would start to beset the newly formed parent company. The first issue of major effect was the FASB implementation of SFAS142 which required annual testing of impairment to goodwill (and other intangible assets) instead of annual amortization. This ruling became effective for the year 2000, just twelve months after the official merger. It forced AOL TIME WARNERto take a one time charge against income of $54 billion in the first quarter of 2002, and an additional $45.538 billion in the last quarter of 2002. This was an astounding amount of nearly $100 billion dollars, predominantly attributable to the erosion of AOL s market value. In the second quarter of 2000, AOL settled with the SEC with regard to its previously discussed controversial accounting policies. AOL agreed to pay a $3.5 million fine and to reissue earnings statements for years 1995 and 1996. By so doing, it wiped out all the profits the company had made. In the 4th quarter of 2002, AOL registered its first decrease in subscriptions with a loss of 200,000 members. Every quarter after that showed additional losses, until at the spin off in December

By the end of what was to be called the Sand Creek Massacre over two hundred Native American women, children, and elderly laid dead (Benson). In a study by the University of Denver in 2014 it was concluded that the University of Denver s founder and then governor of Colorado Territory, John Evans, was largely at fault for the massacre (Benson). The report stated, We conclude that John Evans s pattern of neglect of his treaty negotiating duties, his leadership failures, and his reckless decision making in 1864 combine to clearly demonstrate a significant level of culpability for the Sand Creek Massacre (Benson). It was deemed that Evans s culpability was comparable to that of Colonel John Chivington, the one who personally planned and carried out the massacre. Evans intentionally strained tensions instead of calming them and rejected opportunities to engage in peaceful negotiations with the Native American s of the region. Additionally, he successfully lobbied the U.S. Department of War for executing a military infantry regiment,
