 People have lived in Italy for a long
time, because Italy is a very fertile
    peninsula in the Mediterranean Sea.

 The site of Rome had lots of natural
advantages: it was possible to cross
the river and it was near the sea.
This is the Roman Empire.
Rome was born around 7 hills by the
River Tiber, in the Italic Peninsula.
BY: Unai, Jon and Ander
 Rome was a city of big contrasts.
 Lower class Romans or plebeians lived in apartments
(dirty, badly built and full of peolple) .
 Rich citizens or patricians lived in the domus
    (a courtyard, a kitchen, a bathroom and a study).
The family was an important part of Roman life.
Most Roman families had slaves.

Boys and girls went to schools called ludus and,
only boys continued their education in grammaticus
or secondary school.
By: Lorea, Unai.Gan and
Alvaro
•Roman diet in general was based mostly on
vegetables, cereals and simple meats.
•The patricians had very elaborate dinners.

•In the Coliseum, the Romans gathered to
    watch bloody combats between gladiators
and battles of men and wild animals.
By: Naia, Maite and Lucia
Looking good was important for the
Romans. Fashion was influenced by what
the Emperor and his wife liked.

Men had simple short haircuts but
women had more elaborated
hairstyles

Men wore a toga and women
wore a large dress called a
 stola.
By: Uxue, Eztizen and Asier.A
•Most Roman medicines were made from herbs and
plants.

 Dentists •Doctors
 extracted examined
 teeth and patients and
 put false prescribed
 ones made medicines,
 of bones or exercise and
 ivory. a healthy
                                      diet.

•Surgeons were trained in the army.
The Romans were
                      also great builders:
                      Roman aqueducts,
The Romans were amphitheatres,
                      bridges,…
particularly
interested in
painting and
sculpture.
They loved to
decorate their
buildings with
paintings
(frescoes), mosaics
 The Roman language was
    Latin. It is the mother
    of many European
    modern languages .

 The Roman numerals
    are based on letters
 Travel was vital for the Roman Empire.

 Every corner was linked by roads to the city of
    Rome.
 As the old saying says “All roads lead to Rome”.
