because Italy is a very fertile peninsula in the
Mediterranean Sea.

Lower class Romans or plebeians lived in these
overcrowded apartments
while rich citizens or patricians
enjoyed a life of luxury.
Apartment blocks could be up to seven floors,
and in poor areas they were dark, full of people and very dirty.

a loving mother and an obedient wife.
Some poorer women had to work usually as midwives
(helping other women at birth) or hairdressers, a
few women worked, as acrobats or dancers
but these were not considered
respectable jobs.
Most Roman families had slaves who did all the work
in the house and had a very hard life.

very early but richer families sent the kids to school
at the age of seven.

School hours were only in the morning.

Table knives and forks were not known but they
ate with spoons.
The patricians had very elaborated dinners. Men
had dinner parties and women and children ate

realistic and made in bronze,

The Romans were also great builders
and engineers of impressive public works
such as aqueducts.
Roman aqueducts were several floors
of bridges high carrying water in
