Who are the people in the photograph?
 Picture 1: The photo shows three young men riding bicycles through a rural area. The
guys are doing the Nazi salute to the photographer while they are riding their bicycles.
 Picture 2: The picture shows a group of soldiers sitting in what it might by their camp
during their free time
 Picture 3: The picture shows a group of man during the prohibition era (1920 – 1933)
eliminating alcohol by throwing it in the street sewer.
What is the situation of the people in the photograph? Provide evidence from the photo
that tells you this.
 Picture 1: When I saw the uniforms of the 4 boys I could tell that they were part of the
Hitler youth that where force to provide campaign for his mandate; their uniform were
characterized by shorts and dark brown or black shirts with black ties. This kids where
part of a movement known as “spyclists” they were forced to visited the country side of
Germany and then to complete a detailed questionnaire of the terrain, population, and
political views of the population they visited, they were also asked to take photographs,
especially of industry. However the kid in middle has a withe flag with a rose in the
middle; this can mean that they are part of the White rose group, a non-violent opposite
group to Dictator Adolf Hitler’s regime.
 Picture 2: In my opinion this picture was taken during The Vietnam War due to the mix
of black and white soldiers in the picture posing together. Vietnam War had the highest
proportion of black soldiers serving for the first time.
 Picture 3: this picture was taken in the United States prohibition era during 1920 to
1930. I assume that this group of men supports the “American Temperance Society” a
group of people that contributed the abolition of slavery but also to the prohibition of
alcohol.
What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey?

2.  Picture 1: In my opinion I think the photographer tried to capture that although that
Germans kids were force to follow a Nazi agenda, they disagreed with what the Nazis
were doing and wanted to participate in protests like white rose group.
 Picture 2: The photographer of this picture tried to capture how was the first war where
white and black American fought together
 Picture 3: The photographer captured the way people got rid of alcohol during
prohibition.
Why is this photograph important to history?
 Picture 1: In my opinion I think that every picture from World War 2 is important,
especially pictures like this that show the sad life that young kid were forced to live.
They were forced to participate in the Nazi agenda without any option to reject.
 Picture 2: This picture marks a point in American military history. This was the first war
where soldiers work and fight together without separating themselves for their skin
color.
 Picture 3: This picture shows an important time in America, the prohibition brought with
it a huge amount of organize crime. This was a bad time for America
