1. Who are the people in the photograph?

What is the situation of the people in the photograph? Provide evidence from the photo

1. They are riding bikes in the country side and saluting Hitler. The photo is in black and white, as
to identify an old photo. And after looking it up, the uniforms is that of the Hitler youth.
2. They are American soldiers during what I presume is the Vietnam War. I got this by the fact of
the uniforms they are wearing are from the era. The gun is what the Vietcong used. And since
the photo graph is in color, I can assume that it is of the early to late 70’s era.
3. They are rejoicing for prohibition. There dumping alcohol in the streets, the letters on the
building are in English, and since prohibition really only happened in America I think that this is
in the streets of NYC of Chicago.
What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey?
1. The Hitler youth are together, and that they have fun
2. It’s trying to show the Vietnam war in a good way
3. Prohibition has passed into law
Why is this photograph important to history?
1. It shows a part of history where Nazism was at its highest and even the young are following
Hitler
2. It was taken at a time where the Vietnam war was starting to get the disapproval of the public
3. It takes place in a time where America tried to prohibit alcohol
