Picture 1: Kitchen. Tables pots and pans, women are wearing aprons, its set in old times, wardrobe,
and black and white picture.
Picture 2:Hitler is being a politician and “kissing babies” trying to win the approval of his soon to be
subjects.
Picture 3: They are fighting for civil rights. There are African Americans. Maybe a police fight that
went wrong. The dogs are going crazy.
Picture 4: The black man is hanging by a rope off of the arm of the statue of liberty.
Picture 5: These people are looking forward to coming to America and being free.
Picture 6: The doctors are checking these future immigrants for lice and other diseases that they
could potentially bring into the country.
What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey?
Picture 1: They are working really hard. It sort of looks like poverty

Picture 4: The statue of liberty is all about freedom, but the photographer was trying to depict how
African Americans aren’t or weren’t free in American at that time.

coming into the country.
Why is this photograph important to history?
Picture 1: Only women are in this kitchen, before feminists
Picture 2:Because he was such a powerful man. It was trying to show the other side of Hitler or at
least give the allusion that he was a good guy.
Picture 3: Because it describes the essence of what happened during this time
Picture 4:It describes the struggle and inequality of African Americans before the time when they
were granted the freedom to no longer be subjected to slavery.

history and life as we know it today.
