Jealousy In Greek Myths
Greek Myths have been thought to influence our culture and teach us lessons about
ourselves since around 630 BC. Despite the fact that characters such as heroes, gods
and monsters in these myths display incredible abilities and strengths, they are
subject to the same emotional weakness as human beings. One recurring emotional
weakness in many of their stories is jealousy. In some myths, the effects of jealousy
caused the characters to introspect and learn about the world, but in other events,
jealousy caused the characters to lose many things including trust and valuable time.
One story that displays the jealousy of a god is the story of Arachne. Arachne was a
young girl who lived in the small town of Lydia, located in Northern Greece. She...

As goddess of marriage and family, Hera wanted to represent the ideal woman.
Unfortunately for Hera, her husband, Zeus, had many secret affairs causing Hera
to be jealous and vengeful, particularly aimed towards her husband, his lovers, and
people that deceived her. There were many stories that clearly display Hera s
jealousy, but one of the most well known stories was the tale of Zeus and Leto
resulting in the birth of two important gods. Zeus decided to pursue Leto, but when
he realized that Hera was watching, he transformed himself and Leto in quails.
Even though Zeus had taken measures to protect himself and Leto, Hera saw them
together. In her fit of jealousy, Hera cursed Leto. The curse made Leto grow
pregnant, but Hera stated in her curse that Leto would not be able to give birth
anywhere the sun shines. Although Leto, helped by Zeus, was able to birth her
children on the island of Delos, Hera s jealousy remained. As a result of Zeus s
affairs, Hera s jealousy caused her to do many bad things that did not align with her
responsibilities and status as goddess of marriage and family. In addition, Hera s
jealousy became a constant part of her life and caused her to be

Organ donation is a sacrifice that can touch many people through one person s
unselfish gift. Granted that gift most often comes after a tragic loss of a loved one.
As the bearer of three functioning kidneys, I have always considered organ donation
to be the expected norm. But today, the focus will be to enlighten you on the reasons
to consider organ donation. Organ donations are needed for every age group, race, and
ethnic groups. Each person should take the opportunity to extend the gift of life to
another individual through organ donation.
There are many reasons to become an organ donor but we will focus specifically on

have the power to offer the needed organ to your own family or another family that
may be losing hope.
During the opening, it was mentioned that every age, race and ethnic group is
effected and have a need for organ donations. Below are graphs from the US
Department of Health Human Services that clearly illustrate the needs for the waiting

ethnicity. Statistically, Latinos suffer from obesity which leads to diabetes and heart
disease. African Americans suffer higher rate of diabetes and high blood pressure.
Asians and Hawaiians reportedly have a higher rate of kidney and liver diseases. Each
of these dispositions can lead to other complications effecting the organs and
eventually causing organ failure, even with treatment. Illustration 2 show that the
people needing an organ donation is not limited to the aged or infirmed but range
from newborn to over 65 years old.

The War Of The German Army Essay
History is another valuable factor that provides essential lessons for powerful states to
obviate the struggle to achieve political outcomes. However, some major powers,
neglect history and tend to repeat it. For instance, Hitler committed the same mistake
Napoleon did in 1812, by invading Russian territory without taking into consideration
the devastating effects of the harsh weather and the vast territory on the endurance of
the German Army. Similarly, the United States fail to learn the lessons the French
took in Vietnam and Algeria that, despite qualitative military superiority in
technology and weapons on one side, the opponent is able to prevail through superior
intangibles ranging from leadership to morale. The United States discovered in
Vietnam that no matter how large the sum of the more tangible economic and
military capabilities in relation to an adversary, their utility is determined by the
intangibles of strategic leadership and national will of the adversary. Indeed, ignoring
history and its lessons will increase the possibility for the desired political outcomes
to fail and increase the suffering of the powerful states during its quest to achieve its
political goals. Furthermore, alliances and mutual support during the war present an
obstacle in front of a powerful state to achieve political outcomes. In fact, the anguish
of the United States forces in Vietnam was not only due to the powerful insurgency in
that country, but also to the unlimited support of

Substance Abuse Intervention
Introduction
Drug and alcohol dependency not only affect the user, but also friends, family,
coworkers and various other subgroups that the user is involved in. Drug intervention
is a difficult process that involves understanding addiction. Many individuals believe
that substance abuse is a choice and that they can stop at any time, but the user
chooses not to. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease, and quitting takes more
than good intentions or a strong will (NCADD, 2015). The statement made by the
National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence notes that it is a disease.
This disease consumes them and simply choosing to stop may not be an option. An
intervention is a long and involved process that needs the support of members in the
user s life to be effective. This paper will look at what an intervention is and the
essential steps when attempting to hold an intervention for a substance abuse patient.

The novel suggests that the community of Lexington was not in favor of war,
rather they just wanted to secure their rights and their belongings from the
marching British soldiers who, it was feared, will plunder the town. The
community had the courage to bear arms just to safeguard themselves as is
suggested by the address of reverend of Lexington to the people. He says, Here we
stand with our arms in hand, but with no belligerence in our hearts (Fast, 1961).
The rights of the people were not safeguarded by the British and it was in the air
that wherever the British went, they just put the people to ignominy by raping
their women; they also plundered their wealth and savings. Those who had
stopped the British from doing that were mercilessly beaten and some were put to
death. These things created fear and terror in the minds of the people. They were
ready to fight against the British soldiers but here it worth noting that the people
of Lexington were not fighting because of any national fervor or jingoism but they
were fighting for their own cause, just to safeguard their property and lives. The
role of community in this regard was very crucial and it was a great sight watching
all the people gathered at the call of duty. The community is considered a real

What is the most critical problem that the Korean society faces today? Certainly,
there are issues such as the North South relationship, the nuclear leak in Japan, and
the overabundant rainfall. However, one of the most widely discussed topics in the
modern Korean society is the decreasing birth rate and the increasing percentage of
the older age groups. This phenomenon of the older age groups taking a bigger
portion of the overall population is called the aging society. This occurrence has
become one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This solution may sound a bit cruel to the elders. For those people who were
desperately waiting for retirement, either due to physically incapability or desire to
rest, the extra years added onto retirement age may sound like a torture. It may
even cause people of young age groups to immigrate to different parts of the world
to avoid the extensive working years in their country. Also, elders are less efficient
in producing goods or providing services because of the natural health deterioration.
Therefore, even if the citizens accepted the decision of increasing the retirement age,
the elders may not be able to produce an expected amount of gross domestic product.
However, the decrease in the number of retired people itself helps with government
revenue. Although the elders may not be able to produce a sufficient amount of
product to support the even older group of people, the exclusion of the moderately
old people from government pension and other government expenditures helps
sustain a healthy cycle in government revue. However, in order to successfully
execute this plan, the Korean government would need a very strong leader that is
able to convince its citizens to trust the government s decision because the increase in
retirement age may enrage the general public. All in all, this simple solution can be
an option to consider. Another solution that may be used to solve this problem is

considered one of the main problems that our society face nowadays. This problem
affects the economy of any country and causes deterioration for this economy and
prevent its progress. There are many reasons that lead to povertysuch as high living
standard as peoples requirements such as food, clothes and shelter become very
expensive and can t be affordable by many people or people who have jobs but
have a low salary beside all of that there are many additional problems which causes
poverty such as divorce as due to the high living standard and people have to spend
too much money on education, food, prosperity for their children, and poverty
lead to crime as poor people suffer from the high living standard so that some of
them become thieves and go to illegal ways to gain more money such as crime and

there will be difficult in marriage as there will be difficulties to afford the prices of

You may have not thought about issues that come along with genetics and the
genetic makeup of a human being. This includes but not limited to how your child
will look, will the offspring have your features, the fathers features, or even one of
the grandparents features. This has caused many stakeholders to debate on whether
genetic engineering should be allowed and to what extent. Meaning, should we be
able to design our children based on how we want them to look or to prevent them

that may be life threatening such as cancer being passed down or even HIV/Aids.
The society also is something to think about with the health issue, thinking about if

The American Industrial Revolution
The American industrial revolution took place from the late 1800s into the 1900s.
An industrial revolution is a boom in industry and manufacturing. It requires a
workforce, leaders, and most importantly natural resources like coal, steel, gold,
silver and lumber. Coal was a valuable resource needed to power factories and
transportation like the transcontinental railroad that spanned across the US. After the
transcontinental railroad was built in 1869, more coal was found in the west that
could be mined and then transported to the factories in the east. This led to the
increase in material production and made manufacturing easier and cheaper.
However, when coal is burned it gives off pollution so an increase in coal usage also
impacted the environment. Additionally, working conditions in the factories back
then were unimaginable. Workers were overworked and around dangerous machines
at a young age.
After the industrial revolution production of materials increased. According to
Document 3, steel production in 1865 was 3,100,000 tons and in 1900 production
increased to 9,000,000 tons, over triple the previous amount. During this time period
the Bessemer Steel Process helped to increase steel production by using less coal
and making steel cheaper. This is significant because during the industrial revolution
steel was used to build the railroads, buildings and plows. As a result of having more
steel, more railroads and buildings can be built for cheaper, improving transportation

John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, the event created
suspicion and fear across the country. JFK was assassinated on November 22nd,

them. It is possible that Oswald was working with or for someone, but there is no
evidence to prove so.
Lee Harvey Oswald had felt an indifference towards the economic and
governmental ideals of the US. He was a US marine and was dismissed because he
was not a sharp shooter. It was known that Oswald admired Fidel Castro and
atempted to obtain a visa to go to Cuba. Lee Harvey Oswald also was suspected of

Counting On Jinger Duggar s Wedding
Everyone is really excited to hear about Jinger Duggar and her upcoming wedding.
The star of Counting On isn t married yet, but she is already engaged and of course,
planning her wedding. Jinger has made it very clear that she doesn t plan on
having a long engagement. Now The Stir is sharing some of the details of Jinger
Duggar s upcoming wedding. Of course, everyone knows that Counting On will be
recording Jinger s wedding for viewers to get to see it all go down. She is the 4th of
the Duggar children to get married and with 19 kids they should be having at least
one wedding a year if not more.
Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo just announced last month that they were engaged
and the big moment hasn t even aired on Counting On yet. It turns out that instead of
having a local wedding, Jinger Duggar might get married in New York City. Jeremy s
family is from New Jersey, which would mean it would be close to his family.
Jinger s family would be able to make the trip there to see the wedding. One thing a
source says is that the couple is stressed out about the idea of uninvited guests
showing up. It doesn t seem like Jinger and Jeremy will be telling anyone where the
wedding is at so people don t just show up. There is no word if they are worried
about fans showing up or someone that they know that Jeremy and Jinger just don t
want there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The authors concluded that while increasing gastroenterology capacity is important
(i.e., capital and funding availability, plus searching the local labor market for
gastroenterology physicians, nurses, and physician assistants), it may not be as
beneficial as redirecting the focus on healthcare system process changes. Access
limitations may be due to suboptimal management of current capacity rather than
inadequate levels of capacity (Powell et al., 2009). As the largest healthcare system
in the world, the VHA cannot rely solely on hiring and training more
gastroenterology staff when process management is also in urgent need of
simultaneous, coordinated improvement. As a response to this colossal demand to
expand gastroenterology trained and credentialed providers to perform colonoscopy,
a small number of VHA facilities and gastroenterology departments sought new and
innovative ways to build provider and space capacity to mitigate this challenging,
unmet need. Dr. Jason Dominitz, National Program Director for Gastroenterology
Patient Care Services, reported there are at least a half dozen or more credentialed
nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) performing colonoscopy at
various VHA facilities. The non physician endoscopists have collectively provided
safe, quality driven procedural care and high patient satisfaction survey
The Warrior II Pose (Virabhadrasana II)
Warrior II Pose (Virabhadrasana II)
About
The Warrior II Pose is the second of a series of three yoga poses that builds strength
and stamina.
How To
From the Downward Facing Dog, step your left foot to the inside of your left hand.
Bend your left knee precisely over your ankle so your thigh is parallel to the floor.
Swivel on the ball of your right foot to bring your right heel to your mat. Your right
foot should be at a 90 degree angle with the sole firmly planted.
Your front heel is roughly lined up with your back arch. Rise to stand. Open your
hips to the right side of your mat. Your torso will be facing right. Extend your left
arm toward the front of the mat and your right arm toward the back of the mat with
your palms facing down. Keep both arms parallel to the floor. Release your shoulders
away from your ears. Reach out through the fingertips of both hands. ... Show more

Your gaze is forward over the left hand. Both thighs are rotating outward. Engage
your triceps to support your arms, your quadriceps to support your legs, and your
belly to support your torso.
After several breaths, windmill your hands down to either side of your left foot and
step back to Downward Dog. Stay here for a few breaths or go through a transition
before repeating the pose with the right foot forward.
Benefits
The Warrior II Pose tones the abdomen, strengthens your legs and arms and opens
your chest and shoulders.
Tips
When you bend the right knee to a right angle, bend it very swiftly with a meaningful
exhalation, and point the inside of the right knee in the direction of the little toe side

BP s Commitment to the Recovery of Natural Resources
The projects are part of BP s commitment to provide up to $1 billion in early
restoration funding to expedite recovery of natural resources injured as a result of the
Deepwater Horizon accident. The early restoration framework agreement signed in
2011 requires BP and the trustees to agree upon the potential projects, funding and the
natural resources benefits the projects are expected to provide. The trustees then
implement the projects.
The agreement makes it possible for restoration to begin at an earlier stage of the
natural resource damage (NRD) process than usual. NRD restoration projects are
typically funded only after the NRD assessment is complete and a final settlement
has been reached or a final court judgment has been entered. This process often takes
many years, and restoration is often delayed during that time. The early restoration
framework agreement allows the parties to expedite projects to restore, replace or
acquire the equivalent of injured natural resources in the Gulf soon after an injury is
identified, reducing the time needed to achieve restoration of those resources.
Projects under way
Ten projects were approved in two separate phases.
Phase I projects
The eight initial projects will restore and enhance wildlife, habitats and the services
provided by those habitats, as well as provide additional access for fishing, boating
and related recreational uses. The projects are in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and
Mississippi.

Modern Day Baseball ( Lanham ) Essay
November 24TH, 1887, football fans used boxing gloves and broomsticks to play
the very first, official, game of softball. Just a little over four decades earlier,
Alexander Cartwright, the father of baseball formalized the rules, or codes, of
townball . What is townball ? Who exactly is Alexander Cartwright? Moreover,
what on earth does this have to do with fast pitch softball? These are all valid
questions you may or, may not have right now. Townball or base are both older
colloquial terms used to describe, what would become American baseball. Many news
sources such as the Westchester Journal and multiple St. Louis City Directories
have evidence of the use of such terms, supporting the notion that Alexander
Cartwright is the man who, in 1846, wrote the first and most basic formalized code
for what would become modern day baseball (Lanham). Cartwright is not to be
mistaken for the falsely proclaimed father of baseball, Abney Doubleday.
Doubleday was a General in the U.S. Army at the time and was not in
Cooperstown, Pennsylvania when he was said to have invented baseball in 1839.
On the other hand, a YMCA official named Walker Hakanson is credited for
coining the name softball as opposed to names the preceded it such as kitten ball,
mush, and women s baseball. The exact origins of both sports are hard to identify, as
there are hundreds of stick and ball sports in the world, one of the most common
possibilities for an ancestor sport is cricket (Lanham). Both sports
Three Little Pigs
SOMERSET PA (AP) A. Wolf took the stand today in his own defense. This
shocked and stunned the media who predicted that he would not testify in the
brutal double murder trial. A. Wolf is accused of killing (and eating) The First

by a civil trial to be brought by the surviving Third Little Pig. The case has been
characterized as a media circus.
His testimony is transcribed below:

Active Learning At The Heart Of Mathematics
ACTIVE LEARNING in practice for Processes in Mathematics in the Primary School.
Frank Quinn Module MCS 3017 8th December 2014 Cockcroft (1982) states that
problem solving ability lies at the heart of mathematics (p.73). The report also
identifies in Para 243 the importance of offering the opportunity to pupils to engage
in problem solving including the application to everyday situations. This has been
further promoted through the importance of the Cross Curricular Skills of the
Revised Northern Ireland Curriculum which promotes using mathematics, using
communication and using information and communications technologies (uICT). The
curriculum experience also requires the development of each pupil in the domains of
thinking skills and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Problem solving stems from a constructivist approach where the children are required
to construct and contextualise their learning around different experiences rather than
simply absorb the knowledge and move onto the next topic. The majority of problems
have more than one way of achieving the solution so therefore they can be
approached in a variety of ways. Due to the freedom of approach, problems can be
attempted individually or through peer learning. This active learning approach can
make the learning, and the teaching, more enjoyable, whilst create an environment
for greater cross curricular learning and understanding whilst promoting a positive
attitude toward numeracy and creativity. Problem solving in mathematics provides a
window for the teacher to obtain a view of the child s understanding of concepts
within mathematics as they move through the childhood concept development
sequence (Charlesworth et al, 2011). The assessment of this information can be
gained through observing the child or using effective questions to draw out the child
s cognitive creative thinking as they develop the solutions for the problem. In the
Foundation stage, children discover problems through play based activities, for
example, they use non standard units of measurement such as blocks or Lego, to
build a desired construct, thus they learn how to recognise and use informal
measurement. As the child grows and develops they
Eleanor Roosevelt Research Paper
Have you ever wondered what it s like to be the first lady of the United States, the
red, white, and blue country? Well Eleanor Roosevelt knows exactly what that s like.
Eleanor Roosevelt is a tremendous lady, she knows what it s like to go through the
good and the bad times. Eleanor was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City,
NY. Eleanor s parents Anna Hall Roosevelt and Elliott Roosevelt tried their hardest
to be great parents. But they were the kind of family that had it pretty hard. It led her
father to become addicted to one of the worst things you can become and be addicted
to. Eleanor s father, Elliott, decided he couldn t take it anymore he started to drink.

Ergot Essay example
Ergot
Ergot (Claviceps purpurea Tul.) is a poisonous fungus that is hazardous to animals
and humans. It appears to be a small, hard, black, elongated structure that grows on
and contaminants grains, which is called scelrotium. The appearance tends to look
like mold. When eaten in quantity or small amounts over a period of time it can be
highly toxic. Furthermore, it is a major problem for humans in North America but
even more severe for animals. Humans are susceptible to being contaminated with
this poisonous fungus because ergot can grow on mushrooms, rye, wheat, and barley.
These are products that humans ingest everyday. Ergot is the most notorious poison
because it includes several species of ascomycete fungi with complex life cycles ...

The infection can occur by insects also.
According to Fuller and McClintock, ergotism has caused so many occurrences in
epidemic and the middle ages was known as St. Anthony s fire. In France many
people died from this disease, which was caused mainly from eating bread made
from rye grains contaminated with ergot (p. 20).
Plant Toxin/Derivative Drug
Researchers state over fifty alkaloids are within the ergot sclerotia, but mainly
ergonovine (also known as ergometrine, ergobasine, ergotocine, ergotstetrine
C19H23N3O2, ergotamine C33H35N5O5,ergotcryptine C32H41N5O5, ergocornine
C31H39N5O5, ergocristine C35H39N5O5, ergosine C30H37N5O5, and
ergovalide) is present in ergot. Most of the alkaloids contain thirty to thirty five
carbon atoms, although some have a smaller number. Therefore, these alkaloids can
be classified as polypeptides. All ergot alkaloids form lysergic acid. Lysergic acid
diethylamide, LSD, is the most powerful compound known that produces imitations
of severe mental disorders. Ergot alkaloids not only have the indole structure but the
other ring system and side chains as well.
Symptoms
Humans and animals common acute symptoms is a convulsion stimulation of CNS
(central nervous system). Chronic symptoms include damage to the lining of
capillaries and constriction of the smaller arterial blood vessels resulting in gangrene
of the extremities (Fuller and McClintock,19). Some
Feminists on Meat-Eating
Some feminist thinkers also believe that meat eating is wrong, basing their argument
on sexual politics. Carol Adams (The Sexual Politics of Meat) believes that men
showing their dominance over animals, with the ability to kill and eat them, mirrors
the patriarchal society in which we live, whereby men control women. To talk about
eliminating meatis to talk about displacing one aspect of male control and
demonstrates the way in which animals oppression and women s oppression are
linked together.
In saying this, Adams believes we should not eat meat because it is just exploiting
the weaker position that women hold in society because of male dominance.
Furthermore, Adams offers somewhat of a vegan argument using sexual politics,
believing that by using cows to produce dairy and chickens to produce eggs before
being slaughtered, we exploit their femaleness as well .
While there are a vast amount of arguments to support the notion of vegetarianism,
such as those presented in this essay, there are also a number of arguments that can
be made in favour of meat eating. For example, many non vegetarians raise the
question of how much impact an individual who quits eating meat has upon the meat
market in relation to the whole of society, the country, or even the world. One person
s decision to not buy animal products would not reduce the amount of animals killed
to place these products in shops. This therefore seems to make the idea of
vegetarianism, as an effort to stop
Themes In The Passing Of Grandison
Passing as Seen Through the Lenses of Grandison and Peola
African Americans have suffered a lot of racism and hatred throughout society. In
The Passing of Grandison the slave Grandison outsmarted his master and his
family into attaining his freedom. In this story, Grandison is not passing in the
way others have passed , meaning he is not seen as white. He passes by faking his
allegiance to his master, and by doing this he ends up gaining his freedom, not only
for himself, but also his family. Imitation of life, Mammy Image in Life displays
Peola as a mulatto character who chooses to pass intentionally to be accepted in
society. The authors develop a contrast between passing in different settings through
the characters Grandison in The Passing of Grandison and Peola in The 1934
Version of the movie, Imitation of life, Mammy Image in Film. Both works analyze
similar themes such as racism and separation of family and examine various
characteristics of slave narratives such as tragic mulatto in The 1934 Version of the
movie, Imitation of life, Mammy Image in Film and trickster in The Passing of
Grandison .
According to Viktor Osinubi, slaves did not engage in a rebellion but rather
became fugitives. The book begins with Dick Owens, the son of Colonel Owens,
trying to help one of his father s Negro man escape to Canada. In the early 1850s
the Fugitive Slave law was passed. At times the freedom of runaway slaves was
short lived. Some were caught and returned to their masters because of the
Fugitive Slave Law that allowed masters to reclaim their runaway slaves (Osinubi,
2017). Dick Owens is described as a 22 year old man who is intelligent, amiable,
and indolent. The Passing Grandison begins with Dick Owens informing his
sweetheart Charity Lomax about the story behind a slave reaching freedom
through a man s help who is now seeking trial. Charity is attracted to the man on
trial and Dick questions her reasoning. Dick wants to please Charity and makes it
his mission to win her love by engaging in something just as heroic (Stokes, 2011).
This leads Dick to attempt to help one of his father s slaves to freedom who
happened to be Grandison. Colonel Owens assume Grandison was not smart, so he
trusted him to go

and why did she become so famous. To find these answers, I researched credible

her mother not being able to take care of her and not trace of her father, she was

homes where she was abused by one of the foster fathers. Those foster parents were
named Albert and Ida Bolender. Since Marilyn was thrown into many different
homes after that, she was never able to be in a home where she was truly able to feel

Marilyn was about seven years of age, she was tossed around different foster care

Elasticity Of Demand And Supply
Elasticity of Demand and Supply
INTRODUCTION:
Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in
another is the measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using
Elasticities, we can measure the two markets of price and quantity. The difference
among markets can be quantified by the economist using elasticities without the
measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable (demand or
supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how
advertises function. The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate
value flexibility of interest, value flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of
interest and pay flexibility of interest.
The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price.
Elasticity of Demand :
Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic
measures is based on the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when
there is change in the price. With respect to price it is the quantity demanded
responsiveness degree. For example lets consider a case in the below figure, where
there is elastic demand when the curve is almost flat. You can see that, the quantity
decreases a lot if there is a change in price from $.75 to $1. There can be many
reasons for this On the off chance that demand is extremely inelastic, then vast
changes in cost won t do particularly to the amount requested. For example,
Airline Pest Analysis
Introduction
Ryanair is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and operates a low fare, no frill scheduled
passenger airline. Ryanair serves short haul, point to point routes between Ireland, the
United Kingdom, and continental Europe, making Ryanair EuropeВЎВ¦s largest low
fare airline. It has destinations in 13 countries with 76 low fare routes. Its fleet
consists of 21 Boeing 737 200s and 21 737 800s. Launched in 1985, RyanairВЎВ¦s
growth has been extraordinary. Ryanair currently employs a team of 1500 people
and will carry over 13 million scheduled passengers in the current year (2002). In
1986, Ryanair broke the high fare cartel, which was then operated by the two state
airlines Aer Lingus and British Airways in the Dublin London route. The... Show

But Emirates choice of trading sector is very interesting. During the past years it has
been very successful in negotiating and lowering new routes to the sub continent,
south East Asia, Far East and other European routes. And in those routes too only
British Airways, Singapore Airlines etc stands as a rival, In short there is no direct
threatening competitor for Emirates. Thus Emirates enjoys the freedom from cutting
cost of fixing or reducing its fares. Unlike Ryanair, which is a domestic airlines in
Europe, Emirates is thriving hard to promote itself as a Global Airlines by selecting
destinations around the world.
Core Competency
No doubt, RyanairВЎВ¦s secret behind its success is based on its ability to promote it
as a low fare airlines which automatically stimulates demand, particularly from budget
conscious leisure and business travelers, who might otherwise have used alternative
forms of transportation or who might not have traveled at all. RyanairsВЎВ¦s success
can also be attributed to an excellent management under Michael OВЎВ¦Leary.
Creating customerВЎВ¦s confidence by punctuality, excellent baggage handling,
avoiding the formation of trade unions, more frequency etc can also be related as the
reason for RayanairВЎВ¦s success.
For Emirates, more than anything, it is the quality of the service, which separate
them from other airlines. With its young fleet of airlines, Emirates has managed to
stay on top by providing various services to its travelers. The Skyward

Smith and Carlos were criticized and their families started receiving death threats.
Smith and Carlos ended their Olympic careers but they both played in the NFL for

hit hard times when his ex wife committed suicide and he went into a state of
depression. He became a school counselor in 2012. Norman raced a few more times

Smith and Carlos showed how sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself for the

change make a stand, it will take a lot longer for change to happen. Since Norman

symbol for all others that need to help minority groups get justice. He was a white
Australian and risked his athletic career to help Smith and Carlos. We can t expect
minority groups to make all the sacrifices to make America to give all Americans

Some of the patients even need to be hospitalized as well as being given
medication (Parachin 83). Patients may be unable to distinguish between
hallucinations and reality. Because such individual are not in a stable mental state,
some are not even aware of the fact that they are diagnosed with a disease (Parachin

Such episodes can be beneficial or disadvantages depending on the mood. For
example, when someone is very energetic during his or her manic period things
can be done a faster and more efficient rate. On the other hand, when someone is
depressed he might not want to go out and miss on out on great opportunities that
may come along only once. The second type is Bipolar Disorder II where the mood
swings are much milder. Although most patients go through mild depression some
can have severe sessions. The main difference between this and II is the absence of
mania. Because of the prevalence of hypomania the energy levels are not so high.
Mildness of this category makes this much safer when compared the first disorder
and others may see such individuals as very moody. The last type of the Bipolar
disorder is cyclothymia. Although the name might sound daunting, this is actually the
mildest from. People with this disorder never reach out for diagnosis. For the most
part they are functional but more prone to mood swings. The therapies used to deal

Family Dynamics And Social Values
Family Dynamics and Social Values in Race Religion as Factors of Domestic
Violence Much of the ethnic and religious ideologies existent in numerous
communities today are the result of history s shaping the societies into what they are
today, particularly during the earlier stages of the development of a religion or the
peak of an era. The principles and ideals formed then have gone through alterations
with time, as cultures have merged since their foundations. While some views and
philosophies have been virtually discarded, common beliefs pertaining to order,
power, and manner within a family have been preserved and passed down through
generations upon generations. Such morals often span to the extent of violence,
especially where... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These viewpoints reinforce the attitude that violence is a husband s right and that the
woman is to blame. The findings of this study are related to studies in other Asian
countries that share similar traditional attitude towards women (Weingourt et al. 107).
The concept that women are merely a portion of a man s assets and should be
treated as though they are material goods provides the notion that a man has every
right to do with the women he owns as he wishes whether he treats them as queens,
as commoners, or as slaves is his and only his decision to make. In this context,
where women are treated like children does not radiate a positive opinion on
children, as they do not have proper power or control over their own lives. In other
words, women and children were both scene as dependent, and, while a son could
grow up to establish himself and become independent, a daughter would have to
remain depended throughout her entire life. Thus, we can presume that, if women
and children were considered the lower orders of the structure of a Japanese family,
then adult men were considered the head honchos. A study on family violence
towards married Cambodian women opens by introducing major determinants of
domestic violence against women (Yount and Carrera 355 360). The contributing

Brilliant Students Research Paper
In this paper, brilliant students have highlighted the very basic aspects and demands
of the school environment, and how the investors, teachers, and parents can provide
support to these individuals. The investors can form a connection with many experts
who are serving these students whereas, the teachers can form an advisory group for
such students so they can get aid in bringing back their issues to normal state within

Compare and Contrast the Role of the Hr Business Partner...
Compare and contrast the role of the HR Business Partner with that of an external
consultant. Evaluate effectiveness of a HRBP v an external consultant
This paper will evaluate the extent to which academic and professional research into
the roles of the HR Business Partner and that of the external consultant allow for a
critical comparison between the two as to their effectiveness. Are they
fundamentally different or essentially the same? Having firstly attempted to define
then compare and contrast the two roles in relation to a number of key areas and
tasks, the paper will also draw upon the findings of various academic and professional
sources to endeavour to evaluate the effectiveness of the HR Business Partner against
that of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However Caldwell, citing Becker et al, is probably correct in asserting that, despite
these revisions, the Michigan model of HR competencies is still characterised by
definitional disputes, analytical inconsistency, and the performance impact of
specific competencies has proved to be shifting and elusive (2008, 277).
Notwithstanding its critics the Ulrichian HR model is extremely popular in the UK.
This paper will, in agreement with Wright, who sees the HR Business Partner role as
involving the competencies of an internal consultant whose function is to support
organisational change and advise on people management practices (2008, 1065), treat
the HR Business Partner as constituting a specific type of internal consultant.
Although it is noted that Kulik and Perry (2008) view the identification of the HR
Business Partner as an internal consultant as likely to weaken its professional identity
with the HR field.
Biswas and Twitchell define a consultant as, an adviser who provides objective,
practical assistance alongside dealing with a client s uncertainties (2002, 5). While
Block defines the consultant as, a person in a position to have some influence over
an individual or group, but who has no direct power to make changes or implement
programmes (2011, 3). This characterisation of the consultant as someone who is
separate from the organisational system is also picked up by Schein, who describes
How Language Is Influenced By Our Language
The possibility that the way we think is influenced by our language has interested
scholars for hundreds of years. The strong view of this language relativity hypothesis
or Sapir Whorf hypothesis where our actions are determined only by language has
been widely abandoned. However answering the question whether languagecan still
shape our thoughts to some extent has been proven more difficult. In this paper I will
examine some of the recent research that seems to support the idea that although
language does not completely dictate how we think it can have an impact on our
cognitive fuctions.
The ability to use language as a way to communicate is a defining difference between
humans and animals. Even though human beings form one ... Show more content on

For example when learning a second language it might be hard to find a definitive
and suitable translation but at the same time common sense tells us that a stone is a
stone whatever you call it (Gumperz Levinson 1996: 1). The two different outlooks
have also appeared in the academic world gaining advocates for both perspectives.
The concept of linguistic relativity has interested linguists, psychologists,
anthropologists and philosophers for centuries (Boroditsky 2001: 2). St. Augustine s
view in the 4th century was that language is merely a terminology for pre existing
concepts, and in the 13th century Roger Bacon claimed that appropriate translations
between languages are impossible due to the incongruity between their semantic
fields (Gumperz Levinson 1996: 2). Lucy (1996) explains that the beginning of the
20th century was dominated by the supposition that differences in linguistic and
cultural behaviour are caused by cognitive distinctions. After that the increasing
popularity in cognitive sciences has shifted the course towards more universalist
ideas (Lucy 1996: 37).
The idea that language shapes the way we think is also known as the Sapir Whorf
hypothesis after the two linguists who made the hypothesis well known. Edward
Sapir was an American anthropological linguist who, like so many anthropologists of
his day, was a student of Franz Boas. He was
Benefits Of Early Childhood Education
INTRODUCTION Early childhood education has not always been the top priority in
the education world. Although, research has proved that it should be the top priority
as the benefits of Early Childhood Education are innumerous. Extensive neuroscience
research has discovered that the brain is build over time and it is built from the
bottom up. Early childhood experiences directly affect the quality brain development.
Establishing a sturdy foundation through a high quality early childhood education
experience, will dramatically develop child s brain. As a result, they will have a
brighter future. In this essay, I will propose a plan for the children of 2020 and how
to ensure the best early childhood educationexperience. I personally believe that
racially, culturally, linguistically and developmentally responsive practices parental
involvement are critical to the sturdy foundation that is essential to the positive early
childhood experience.
RACIALLY, CULTURALLY, LINGUISTICALLY, AND DEVELOPMENTALLY
RESPONSIVE PRACTICES I believe that racially, culturally, linguistically
responsive practices are essential to creating a fruitful learning experience for any
child at any age. With that said, it is exceptionally important for children in the early
childhood age group to be taught appropriately. Due to the way the brain develops,
children are very susceptible to new information. When taught repetitively over a
period of time, it then becomes part of who they are and their own

The solids of revolution for this cone will look like the following images.
Thus, we return to the solid of revolutions formula
Volume = ∫_a^bв
–’гЂ–ПЂ (radius)^2 dx гЂ— a will equal 0 and b will equal 2.9.
The radius will be the aforementioned equation of the line. This again perfectly
matches the predicted volume that was calculated for the conical section of the
External Tank.
Thus, the total volume of the solids of revolution will match as well.

Since it matches, this further proves that the math is correct and effective.
Solids of Revolution for Orbiter
Sadly, similar to the others, I could not find sufficient data to create a detailed model
of the Orbiter, so all I can attempt is model another cylinder that has equal
dimensions.
So, using the formula again:
Volume = ∫_a^bв
–’гЂ–ПЂ (radius)^2 dx гЂ— a will equal 0 and b will equal
32.85, since that is the length of the space shuttle.
The radius will be 3.455 since the diameter is 6.91.
This forms the function y=3.455. The solids of revolutions would look like the
following images.
This final value matches the predicted volume for the
Essay on Osteopathic Medicine
Osteopathic Medicine
I. Introduction of the D.O.
Currently there are two main types of licensed physicians in the United States. The
first is the medical doctor or the allopathic doctor. About 95% of licensed doctors
have been educated at one of over 120 allopathic medical schools and have thus
obtained a medical doctor degree (M.D.). The second type of doctor, the doctor of
osteopathy, is less common. Osteopathic doctors make up about five percent of the
physicians in the nation (Peters 730). Although this represents a significant amount of
physicians many people are unfamiliar with the second type of doctor. In a 1981 the
AOA (American Osteopathic Association) released the results of a survey about public

II. Osteopathy: past and present
Dr. Andrew Taylor Still is considered to be the founder of osteopathic medicine. Dr.
Still practiced as an orthodox medical doctor until spinal meningitis claimed the lives
of three of his children in 1864. Convinced that using drugs for the treatment of
ailments was not necessarily a scientific form of therapy, Still searched for
alternatives (Gevitz 125). Through interactions with his peers, he began to see the
human body as a vital mechanical organism, with all its parts structurally and
functionally coordinated (Berchtold 2). Consequently, health was maintained when
all body parts could interact in a harmonious manner and the flow of bodily fluids
was unobstructed (Gevitz 127). Unlike his allopathic counterparts, Still tended to
look at the body as a whole while emphasizing the body s inherent ability to produce
remedies against disease. However, the human body could only take care of itself if
structural relationship was normal, environmental conditions favorable, and nutrition
satisfactory (Berchtold 2).
To help restore a patient to health Dr. Still began to use a landmark technique in
osteopathic medicine: osteopathic manipulation. By manipulating bones, muscles and
other tissues Still believed that he

Web Service Developments And Standards

To accommodate business agility, companies are supposed start with use existing
applications instead of developing them from scratch.
A contemporary approach for addressing these critical issues is embodied by (Web)
services that can be easily assembled to form a collection of autonomous and loosely
coupled business processes cite{Papazoglou}.
The arising of Web servicedevelopments and standards in support of automated
business integration has driven major technological advances in the integration
software space, most notably, the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
cite{Dan:2008}. In an SOA, software resources are packaged as
Web services, which are well defined, self contained modules that provide standard
business functionality and are independent of the state or context of other services
cite{Ran}.
A Web service is a software system allowing to expose services via Internet. The
SOA promotes the composition of coarse grained Web services to build more
complex web applications using standards such as WS BPEL cite{std/ws bpel2}.
Because of the convenience, low cost cite{Aboolian} and capacity to be composed

Despite the fact that characters such as heroes, gods and monsters in these myths display incredible abilities and strengths, they are subject to the same emotional weakness as human beings. One recurring emotional weakness in many of their stories is jealousy. In some myths, the effects of jealousy caused the characters to introspect and learn about the world, but in other events, jealousy caused the characters to lose many things including trust and valuable time. One story that displays the jealousy of a god is the story of Arachne. Arachne was a young girl who lived in the small town of Lydia, located in Northern Greece. She... Unfortunately for Hera, her husband, Zeus, had many secret affairs causing Hera to be jealous and vengeful, particularly aimed towards her husband, his lovers, and people that deceived her. There were many stories that clearly display Hera s jealousy, but one of the most well known stories was the tale of Zeus and Leto resulting in the birth of two important gods. Zeus decided to pursue Leto, but when he realized that Hera was watching, he transformed himself and Leto in quails. Even though Zeus had taken measures to protect himself and Leto, Hera saw them together. In her fit of jealousy, Hera cursed Leto. The curse made Leto grow pregnant, but Hera stated in her curse that Leto would not be able to give birth anywhere the sun shines. Although Leto, helped by Zeus, was able to birth her children on the island of Delos, Hera s jealousy remained. As a result of Zeus s affairs, Hera s jealousy caused her to do many bad things that did not align with her responsibilities and status as goddess of marriage and family. In addition, Hera s jealousy became a constant part of her life and caused her to be

However, some major powers, neglect history and tend to repeat it. For instance, Hitler committed the same mistake Napoleon did in 1812, by invading Russian territory without taking into consideration the devastating effects of the harsh weather and the vast territory on the endurance of the German Army. Similarly, the United States fail to learn the lessons the French took in Vietnam and Algeria that, despite qualitative military superiority in technology and weapons on one side, the opponent is able to prevail through superior intangibles ranging from leadership to morale. The United States discovered in Vietnam that no matter how large the sum of the more tangible economic and military capabilities in relation to an adversary, their utility is determined by the intangibles of strategic leadership and national will of the adversary. Indeed, ignoring history and its lessons will increase the possibility for the desired political outcomes to fail and increase the suffering of the powerful states during its quest to achieve its political goals. Furthermore, alliances and mutual support during the war present an obstacle in front of a powerful state to achieve political outcomes. In fact, the anguish of the United States forces in Vietnam was not only due to the powerful insurgency in that country, but also to the unlimited support of

The community had the courage to bear arms just to safeguard themselves as is suggested by the address of reverend of Lexington to the people. He says, Here we stand with our arms in hand, but with no belligerence in our hearts (Fast, 1961). The rights of the people were not safeguarded by the British and it was in the air that wherever the British went, they just put the people to ignominy by raping their women; they also plundered their wealth and savings. Those who had stopped the British from doing that were mercilessly beaten and some were put to death. These things created fear and terror in the minds of the people. They were ready to fight against the British soldiers but here it worth noting that the people of Lexington were not fighting because of any national fervor or jingoism but they were fighting for their own cause, just to safeguard their property and lives. For those people who were desperately waiting for retirement, either due to physically incapability or desire to rest, the extra years added onto retirement age may sound like a torture. It may even cause people of young age groups to immigrate to different parts of the world to avoid the extensive working years in their country. Also, elders are less efficient in producing goods or providing services because of the natural health deterioration. Therefore, even if the citizens accepted the decision of increasing the retirement age, the elders may not be able to produce an expected amount of gross domestic product. However, the decrease in the number of retired people itself helps with government revenue. Although the elders may not be able to produce a sufficient amount of product to support the even older group of people, the exclusion of the moderately old people from government pension and other government expenditures helps sustain a healthy cycle in government revue. However, in order to successfully execute this plan, the Korean government would need a very strong leader that is able to convince its citizens to trust the government s decision because the increase in retirement age may enrage the general public. • 16. The American Industrial Revolution The American industrial revolution took place from the late 1800s into the 1900s. An industrial revolution is a boom in industry and manufacturing. It requires a workforce, leaders, and most importantly natural resources like coal, steel, gold, silver and lumber. Coal was a valuable resource needed to power factories and transportation like the transcontinental railroad that spanned across the US. After the transcontinental railroad was built in 1869, more coal was found in the west that could be mined and then transported to the factories in the east. This led to the increase in material production and made manufacturing easier and cheaper. However, when coal is burned it gives off pollution so an increase in coal usage also impacted the environment. Additionally, working conditions in the factories back then were unimaginable. Workers were overworked and around dangerous machines at a young age. After the industrial revolution production of materials increased. According to Document 3, steel production in 1865 was 3,100,000 tons and in 1900 production increased to 9,000,000 tons, over triple the previous amount. During this time period the Bessemer Steel Process helped to increase steel production by using less coal and making steel cheaper. This is significant because during the industrial revolution steel was used to build the railroads, buildings and plows. As a result of having more steel, more railroads and buildings can be built for cheaper, improving transportation

Through Celie s story and the stories of the other people in her life, the novel explores the themes of racism, sexuality, spirituality, and gender roles. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The authors concluded that while increasing gastroenterology capacity is important (i.e., capital and funding availability, plus searching the local labor market for gastroenterology physicians, nurses, and physician assistants), it may not be as beneficial as redirecting the focus on healthcare system process changes. Access limitations may be due to suboptimal management of current capacity rather than inadequate levels of capacity (Powell et al., 2009). As the largest healthcare system in the world, the VHA cannot rely solely on hiring and training more gastroenterology staff when process management is also in urgent need of simultaneous, coordinated improvement. As a response to this colossal demand to expand gastroenterology trained and credentialed providers to perform colonoscopy, a small number of VHA facilities and gastroenterology departments sought new and innovative ways to build provider and space capacity to mitigate this challenging, unmet need. Dr. Jason Dominitz, National Program Director for Gastroenterology Patient Care Services, reported there are at least a half dozen or more credentialed nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) performing colonoscopy at various VHA facilities. BP s Commitment to the Recovery of Natural Resources The projects are part of BP s commitment to provide up to $1 billion in early restoration funding to expedite recovery of natural resources injured as a result of the Deepwater Horizon accident. The early restoration framework agreement signed in 2011 requires BP and the trustees to agree upon the potential projects, funding and the natural resources benefits the projects are expected to provide. The trustees then implement the projects. The agreement makes it possible for restoration to begin at an earlier stage of the natural resource damage (NRD) process than usual. NRD restoration projects are typically funded only after the NRD assessment is complete and a final settlement has been reached or a final court judgment has been entered. This process often takes many years, and restoration is often delayed during that time. The early restoration framework agreement allows the parties to expedite projects to restore, replace or acquire the equivalent of injured natural resources in the Gulf soon after an injury is identified, reducing the time needed to achieve restoration of those resources. Just a little over four decades earlier, Alexander Cartwright, the father of baseball formalized the rules, or codes, of townball . What is townball ? Who exactly is Alexander Cartwright? Moreover, what on earth does this have to do with fast pitch softball? These are all valid questions you may or, may not have right now. Townball or base are both older colloquial terms used to describe, what would become American baseball. Many news sources such as the Westchester Journal and multiple St. Louis City Directories have evidence of the use of such terms, supporting the notion that Alexander Cartwright is the man who, in 1846, wrote the first and most basic formalized code for what would become modern day baseball (Lanham). Cartwright is not to be mistaken for the falsely proclaimed father of baseball, Abney Doubleday. Doubleday was a General in the U.S. Army at the time and was not in Cooperstown, Pennsylvania when he was said to have invented baseball in 1839. On the other hand, a YMCA official named Walker Hakanson is credited for coining the name softball as opposed to names the preceded it such as kitten ball, mush, and women s baseball. The exact origins of both sports are hard to identify, as there are hundreds of stick and ball sports in the world, one of the most common possibilities for an ancestor sport is cricket (Lanham). Problem solving stems from a constructivist approach where the children are required to construct and contextualise their learning around different experiences rather than simply absorb the knowledge and move onto the next topic. The majority of problems have more than one way of achieving the solution so therefore they can be approached in a variety of ways. Due to the freedom of approach, problems can be attempted individually or through peer learning. This active learning approach can make the learning, and the teaching, more enjoyable, whilst create an environment for greater cross curricular learning and understanding whilst promoting a positive attitude toward numeracy and creativity. Problem solving in mathematics provides a window for the teacher to obtain a view of the child s understanding of concepts within mathematics as they move through the childhood concept development sequence (Charlesworth et al, 2011). The assessment of this information can be gained through observing the child or using effective questions to draw out the child s cognitive creative thinking as they develop the solutions for the problem. In the Foundation stage, children discover problems through play based activities, for example, they use non standard units of measurement such as blocks or Lego, to build a desired construct, thus they learn how to recognise and use informal measurement. • 34. Feminists on Meat-Eating Some feminist thinkers also believe that meat eating is wrong, basing their argument on sexual politics. Carol Adams (The Sexual Politics of Meat) believes that men showing their dominance over animals, with the ability to kill and eat them, mirrors the patriarchal society in which we live, whereby men control women. To talk about eliminating meatis to talk about displacing one aspect of male control and demonstrates the way in which animals oppression and women s oppression are linked together. In saying this, Adams believes we should not eat meat because it is just exploiting the weaker position that women hold in society because of male dominance. Furthermore, Adams offers somewhat of a vegan argument using sexual politics, believing that by using cows to produce dairy and chickens to produce eggs before being slaughtered, we exploit their femaleness as well . While there are a vast amount of arguments to support the notion of vegetarianism, such as those presented in this essay, there are also a number of arguments that can be made in favour of meat eating. For example, many non vegetarians raise the question of how much impact an individual who quits eating meat has upon the meat market in relation to the whole of society, the country, or even the world. One person s decision to not buy animal products would not reduce the amount of animals killed to place these products in shops. This therefore seems to make the idea of vegetarianism, as an effort to stop
  • 35. Themes In The Passing Of Grandison Passing as Seen Through the Lenses of Grandison and Peola African Americans have suffered a lot of racism and hatred throughout society. In The Passing of Grandison the slave Grandison outsmarted his master and his family into attaining his freedom. In this story, Grandison is not passing in the way others have passed , meaning he is not seen as white. He passes by faking his allegiance to his master, and by doing this he ends up gaining his freedom, not only for himself, but also his family. Imitation of life, Mammy Image in Life displays Peola as a mulatto character who chooses to pass intentionally to be accepted in society. The authors develop a contrast between passing in different settings through the characters Grandison in The Passing of Grandison and Peola in The 1934 Version of the movie, Imitation of life, Mammy Image in Film. Both works analyze similar themes such as racism and separation of family and examine various characteristics of slave narratives such as tragic mulatto in The 1934 Version of the movie, Imitation of life, Mammy Image in Film and trickster in The Passing of Grandison . According to Viktor Osinubi, slaves did not engage in a rebellion but rather became fugitives. The book begins with Dick Owens, the son of Colonel Owens, trying to help one of his father s Negro man escape to Canada. In the early 1850s the Fugitive Slave law was passed. At times the freedom of runaway slaves was short lived. Some were caught and returned to their masters because of the Fugitive Slave Law that allowed masters to reclaim their runaway slaves (Osinubi, 2017). Dick Owens is described as a 22 year old man who is intelligent, amiable, and indolent. The Passing Grandison begins with Dick Owens informing his sweetheart Charity Lomax about the story behind a slave reaching freedom through a man s help who is now seeking trial. Charity is attracted to the man on trial and Dick questions her reasoning. Dick wants to please Charity and makes it his mission to win her love by engaging in something just as heroic (Stokes, 2011). This leads Dick to attempt to help one of his father s slaves to freedom who happened to be Grandison. Colonel Owens assume Grandison was not smart, so he trusted him to go

  • 37. Elasticity Of Demand And Supply Elasticity of Demand and Supply INTRODUCTION: Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in another is the measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using Elasticities, we can measure the two markets of price and quantity. The difference among markets can be quantified by the economist using elasticities without the measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable (demand or supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how advertises function. The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate value flexibility of interest, value flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of interest and pay flexibility of interest. The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price. Elasticity of Demand : Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic measures is based on the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when there is change in the price. With respect to price it is the quantity demanded responsiveness degree. For example lets consider a case in the below figure, where there is elastic demand when the curve is almost flat. You can see that, the quantity decreases a lot if there is a change in price from $.75 to $1. There can be many reasons for this On the off chance that demand is extremely inelastic, then vast changes in cost won t do particularly to the amount requested. For example,

The concept that women are merely a portion of a man s assets and should be treated as though they are material goods provides the notion that a man has every right to do with the women he owns as he wishes whether he treats them as queens, as commoners, or as slaves is his and only his decision to make. In this context, where women are treated like children does not radiate a positive opinion on children, as they do not have proper power or control over their own lives. In other words, women and children were both scene as dependent, and, while a son could grow up to establish himself and become independent, a daughter would have to remain depended throughout her entire life. Thus, we can presume that, if women and children were considered the lower orders of the structure of a Japanese family, then adult men were considered the head honchos. A study on family violence towards married Cambodian women opens by introducing major determinants of domestic violence against women (Yount and Carrera 355 360). The contributing factors include the following: A Woman s Social and Economic

Evaluate effectiveness of a HRBP v an external consultant This paper will evaluate the extent to which academic and professional research into the roles of the HR Business Partner and that of the external consultant allow for a critical comparison between the two as to their effectiveness. Are they fundamentally different or essentially the same? Having firstly attempted to define then compare and contrast the two roles in relation to a number of key areas and tasks, the paper will also draw upon the findings of various academic and professional sources to endeavour to evaluate the effectiveness of the HR Business Partner against that of the ... However Caldwell, citing Becker et al, is probably correct in asserting that, despite these revisions, the Michigan model of HR competencies is still characterised by definitional disputes, analytical inconsistency, and the performance impact of specific competencies has proved to be shifting and elusive (2008, 277). Notwithstanding its critics the Ulrichian HR model is extremely popular in the UK. This paper will, in agreement with Wright, who sees the HR Business Partner role as involving the competencies of an internal consultant whose function is to support organisational change and advise on people management practices (2008, 1065), treat the HR Business Partner as constituting a specific type of internal consultant. Although it is noted that Kulik and Perry (2008) view the identification of the HR Business Partner as an internal consultant as likely to weaken its professional identity with the HR field. Biswas and Twitchell define a consultant as, an adviser who provides objective, practical assistance alongside dealing with a client s uncertainties (2002, 5). While Block defines the consultant as, a person in a position to have some influence over an individual or group, but who has no direct power to make changes or implement programmes (2011, 3). This characterisation of the consultant as someone who is separate from the organisational system is also picked up by Schein, who describes
  • 44. How Language Is Influenced By Our Language The possibility that the way we think is influenced by our language has interested scholars for hundreds of years. The strong view of this language relativity hypothesis or Sapir Whorf hypothesis where our actions are determined only by language has been widely abandoned. However answering the question whether languagecan still shape our thoughts to some extent has been proven more difficult. In this paper I will examine some of the recent research that seems to support the idea that although language does not completely dictate how we think it can have an impact on our cognitive fuctions. The ability to use language as a way to communicate is a defining difference between humans and animals. Even though human beings form one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example when learning a second language it might be hard to find a definitive and suitable translation but at the same time common sense tells us that a stone is a stone whatever you call it (Gumperz Levinson 1996: 1). The two different outlooks have also appeared in the academic world gaining advocates for both perspectives. The concept of linguistic relativity has interested linguists, psychologists, anthropologists and philosophers for centuries (Boroditsky 2001: 2). St. Augustine s view in the 4th century was that language is merely a terminology for pre existing concepts, and in the 13th century Roger Bacon claimed that appropriate translations between languages are impossible due to the incongruity between their semantic fields (Gumperz Levinson 1996: 2). Lucy (1996) explains that the beginning of the 20th century was dominated by the supposition that differences in linguistic and cultural behaviour are caused by cognitive distinctions. After that the increasing popularity in cognitive sciences has shifted the course towards more universalist ideas (Lucy 1996: 37). The idea that language shapes the way we think is also known as the Sapir Whorf hypothesis after the two linguists who made the hypothesis well known. Edward Sapir was an American anthropological linguist who, like so many anthropologists of his day, was a student of Franz Boas. He was

Although, research has proved that it should be the top priority as the benefits of Early Childhood Education are innumerous. Extensive neuroscience research has discovered that the brain is build over time and it is built from the bottom up. Early childhood experiences directly affect the quality brain development. Establishing a sturdy foundation through a high quality early childhood education experience, will dramatically develop child s brain. As a result, they will have a brighter future. In this essay, I will propose a plan for the children of 2020 and how to ensure the best early childhood educationexperience. I personally believe that racially, culturally, linguistically and developmentally responsive practices parental involvement are critical to the sturdy foundation that is essential to the positive early childhood experience. RACIALLY, CULTURALLY, LINGUISTICALLY, AND DEVELOPMENTALLY RESPONSIVE PRACTICES I believe that racially, culturally, linguistically responsive practices are essential to creating a fruitful learning experience for any child at any age. With that said, it is exceptionally important for children in the early childhood age group to be taught appropriately. Due to the way the brain develops, children are very susceptible to new information. When taught repetitively over a period of time, it then becomes part of who they are and their own

The solids of revolution for this cone will look like the following images. Thus, we return to the solid of revolutions formula Volume = ∫_a^bв –’гЂ–ПЂ (radius)^2 dx гЂ— a will equal 0 and b will equal 2.9. The radius will be the aforementioned equation of the line. This again perfectly matches the predicted volume that was calculated for the conical section of the External Tank. So, using the formula again: Volume = ∫_a^bв –’гЂ–ПЂ (radius)^2 dx гЂ— a will equal 0 and b will equal 32.85, since that is the length of the space shuttle. The radius will be 3.455 since the diameter is 6.91. This forms the function y=3.455. The solids of revolutions would look like the following images. This final value matches the predicted volume for the

The first is the medical doctor or the allopathic doctor. About 95% of licensed doctors have been educated at one of over 120 allopathic medical schools and have thus obtained a medical doctor degree (M.D.). The second type of doctor, the doctor of osteopathy, is less common. Osteopathic doctors make up about five percent of the physicians in the nation (Peters 730). Although this represents a significant amount of physicians many people are unfamiliar with the second type of doctor. With the ability to provide alternatives to costly medications and focus on preventive measures, the osteopathic doctor is the model for affordable health care. II. Osteopathy: past and present Dr. Andrew Taylor Still is considered to be the founder of osteopathic medicine. Dr. Still practiced as an orthodox medical doctor until spinal meningitis claimed the lives of three of his children in 1864. Convinced that using drugs for the treatment of ailments was not necessarily a scientific form of therapy, Still searched for alternatives (Gevitz 125). Through interactions with his peers, he began to see the human body as a vital mechanical organism, with all its parts structurally and functionally coordinated (Berchtold 2). Consequently, health was maintained when all body parts could interact in a harmonious manner and the flow of bodily fluids was unobstructed (Gevitz 127). Unlike his allopathic counterparts, Still tended to look at the body as a whole while emphasizing the body s inherent ability to produce remedies against disease. However, the human body could only take care of itself if structural relationship was normal, environmental conditions favorable, and nutrition satisfactory (Berchtold 2). To help restore a patient to health Dr. Still began to use a landmark technique in osteopathic medicine: osteopathic manipulation. By manipulating bones, muscles and other tissues Still believed that he

Web Service Developments And Standards chapter{Introduction}label{C:intro} section{Introduction} Modern enterprises need to respond effectively and quickly to opportunities in today s competitive and global markets. To accommodate business agility, companies are supposed start with use existing applications instead of developing them from scratch. A contemporary approach for addressing these critical issues is embodied by (Web) services that can be easily assembled to form a collection of autonomous and loosely coupled business processes cite{Papazoglou}. The arising of Web servicedevelopments and standards in support of automated business integration has driven major technological advances in the integration software space, most notably, the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) cite{Dan:2008}. In an SOA, software resources are packaged as Web services, which are well defined, self contained modules that provide standard business functionality and are independent of the state or context of other services cite{Ran}. A Web service is a software system allowing to expose services via Internet. The SOA promotes the composition of coarse grained Web services to build more complex web applications using standards such as WS BPEL cite{std/ws bpel2}. Because of the convenience, low cost cite{Aboolian} and capacity to be composed into high level business processes, Web service technology is becoming increasing popular. %Web services were hosted in heterogeneous server clusters or co location centers %that
