The magazine targets students aged 16-19. The masthead and colorful font clearly identify it for students. The selling line "By students, for students" directly states this target audience. Sample headlines like "GET LEARNING!" and "EMA CUTS" will appeal to students' interests and concerns. Prizes like an iPod touch make the magazine exciting. The multi-colored haired student in the main photo projects a fun image that will appeal to some students.

2. The masthead is clearly shown at the top of the page for the target audience to see. The
typeface is in a funky font which relates to their target audience because it isn’t so formal.
The colour black is really bold and obvious which allows it to stand out clearly on the white
greyish scale background making it seem more appealing.
The selling line “By students, for students” clearly states its target audience is between the
ages of 16-19 - students. It shows who wrote the magazine and who it is for; indicating what
sort of stuff will be in the magazine. It also shows that the contents of the magazine will be
one hundred percent relative to their target audience which could give them a boost in the
market.
The subtitles used such as “GET LEARNING! The best revision tips.” Appeals to students
because of exams and they may need that advise and help to get them through it. They are
relative storied that students will be talking about and needing help with from their peers.
“EMA CUTS” This subject can be a very touchy one on some student’s minds, it will get them
taking about the magazine gaining viral marketing and therefore more potential buyers.
The gifts and prizes show the fun side to the magazine. The fact that you could win an iPod
touch gives the magazine that exciting aspect.
The main picture focuses on a college student. Her hair is bright and multi-coloured which
connotes fun and excitement. The reason for this being, it will give the magazine a feel good
feeling to it. It also targets a more specific market to those who tend to dress and style
themselves in this way.
Evidently this is a student magazine; the masthead does give that away to start with but all
of these other concepts come together to form it. From the evidence of short, simple;
language I would rate it as colloquial and therefore an informal mode of address.
