Compression can be defined as an art form that involves the representation of information in a reduced form when compared to the original information. Image compression is extremely important in this day and age because of the increased demand for sharing and storing multimedia data. Compression is concerned with removing redundant or superfluous information from a file to reduce the size of the file. The reduction of the file size saves both memory and the time required to transmit and store data. Lossless compression techniques are distinguished from lossy compression techniques, which are distinguished from one another. This paper focuses on the literature studies on various compression techniques and the comparisons between them.

MULTIPLE RECONSTRUCTION COMPRESSION FRAMEWORK BASED ON PNG IMAGEijcsity
It is shown that neural networks (NNs) achieve excellent performances in image compression and reconstruction. However, there are still many shortcomings in the practical application, which eventually lead to the loss of neural network image processing ability. Based on this, a joint framework based on neural network and scale compression is proposed in this paper. The framework first encodes the incoming PNG image information, and then the image is converted into binary input decoder to reconstruct the intermediate state image, next, we import the intermediate state image into the zooming compressor and repressurize it, and reconstruct the final image. From the experimental results, this method can better process the digital image and suppress the reverse expansion problem, and the compression effect can be improved by 4 to 10 times as much as that of using RNN alone, showing better ability in the application. In this paper, the method is transmitted over a digital image, the effect is far better than the existing compression method alone, the Human visual system cannot feel the change of the effect.

A spatial image compression algorithm based on run length encodingjournalBEEI
Image compression is vital for many areas such as communication and storage of data that is rapidly growing nowadays. In this paper, a spatial lossy compression algorithm for gray scale images is presented. It exploits the inter-pixel and the psycho-visual data redundancies in images. The proposed technique finds paths of connected pixels that fluctuate in value within some small threshold. The path is calculated by looking at the 4-neighbors of a pixel then choosing the best one based on two conditions; the first is that the selected pixel must not be included in another path and the second is that the difference between the first pixel in the path and the selected pixel is within the specified threshold value. A path starts with a given pixel and consists of the locations of the subsequently selected pixels. Run-length encoding scheme is applied on paths to harvest the inter-pixel redundancy. After applying the proposed algorithm on several test images, a promising quality vs. compression ratio results have been achieved.

This document discusses parallel processing and compound image compression techniques. It examines the computational complexity and quantitative optimization of various image compression algorithms like BTC, DCT, DWT, DTCWT, SPIHT and EZW. The performance is evaluated in terms of coding efficiency, memory usage, image quality and quantity. Block Truncation Coding and Discrete Cosine Transform compression methods are described in more detail.
This document compares the DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) and DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) image compression techniques. It finds that DWT provides higher compression ratios and avoids blocking artifacts compared to DCT. DWT allows for better localization in both spatial and frequency domains. It also has inherent scaling and better identifies visually relevant data, leading to higher compression ratios. However, DCT is faster than DWT. Experimental results on test images show that DWT achieves higher PSNR and lower MSE and BER than DCT, while providing a slightly higher compression ratio and completing compression more quickly.

This document discusses a proposed approach for multi-focus image fusion using a discrete cosine wavelet sharpness criterion. Multi-focus image fusion combines information from multiple images of the same scene to produce an "all-in-focus" image. The proposed approach uses a discrete cosine transform to calculate sharpness values for sub-blocks of the input images and selects the sharpest sub-blocks to include in the fused image. Experimental results on images of a clock, bottle, and book show the discrete cosine wavelet criterion produces fused images with higher quality than a bilateral gradient-based sharpness criterion, as measured by mutual information metrics.

Enhanced Image Compression Using WaveletsIJRES Journal
Data compression which can be lossy or lossless is required to decrease the storage requirement and better data transfer rate. One of the best image compression techniques is using wavelet transform. It is comparatively new and has many advantages over others. Wavelet transform uses a large variety of wavelets for decomposition of images. The state of the art coding techniques like HAAR, SPIHT (set partitioning in hierarchical trees) and use the wavelet transform as basic and common step for their own further technical advantages. The wavelet transform results therefore have the importance which is dependent on the type of wavelet used .In our thesis we have used different wavelets to perform the transform of a test image and the results have been discussed and analyzed. Haar, Sphit wavelets have been applied to an image and results have been compared in the form of qualitative and quantitative analysis in terms of PSNR values and compression ratios. Elapsed times for compression of image for different wavelets have also been computed to get the fast image compression method. The analysis has been carried out in terms of PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio) obtained and time taken for decomposition and reconstruction.
This document summarizes a research paper that analyzed medical image compression using discrete cosine transform (DCT) with entropy encoding and Huffman coding on MRI brain images. The paper implemented DCT to compress images at varying quality levels and block sizes. It also used Huffman encoding to assign shorter bit codes to more frequent symbols. The research tested the algorithms on a set of brain MRI images. Results showed that compression ratio increased with higher quality levels, while peak signal-to-noise ratio and mean squared error varied based on the technique and block size used. The paper concluded that DCT with entropy decomposition can effectively compress MRI images with less quality loss.
An Algorithm for Improving the Quality of Compacted JPEG Image by Minimizes t...ijcga
The Block Transform Coded, JPEG- a lossy image compression format has been used to keep storage and
bandwidth requirements of digital image at practical levels. However, JPEG compression schemes may
exhibit unwanted image artifacts to appear - such as the ‘blocky’ artifact found in smooth/monotone areas
of an image, caused by the coarse quantization of DCT coefficients. A number of image filtering
approaches have been analyzed in literature incorporating value-averaging filters in order to smooth out
the discontinuities that appear across DCT block boundaries. Although some of these approaches are able
to decrease the severity of these unwanted artifacts to some extent, other approaches have certain
limitations that cause excessive blurring to high-contrast edges in the image. The image deblocking
algorithm presented in this paper aims to filter the blocked boundaries. This is accomplished by employing
smoothening, detection of blocked edges and then filtering the difference between the pixels containing the
blocked edge. The deblocking algorithm presented has been successful in reducing blocky artifacts in an
image and therefore increases the subjective as well as objective quality of the reconstructed image.
REGION OF INTEREST BASED COMPRESSION OF MEDICAL IMAGE USING DISCRETE WAVELET ...ijcsa
Image abbreviation is utilized for reducing the size of a file without demeaning the quality of the image to an objectionable level. The depletion in file size permits more images to be deposited in a given number of spaces. It also minimizes the time necessary for images to be transferred. There are different ways of abbreviating image files. For the use of Internet, the two most common abbreviated graphic image formats are the JPEG formulation and the GIF formulation. The JPEG procedure is more often utilized or
photographs, while the GIF method is commonly used for logos, symbols and icons but at the same time
they are not preferred as they use only 256 colors. Other procedures for image compression include the
utilization of fractals and wavelets. These procedures have not profited widespread acceptance for the
utilization on the Internet. Abbreviating an image is remarkably not similar than the compressing raw
binary data. General-purpose abbreviation techniques can be utilized to compress images, the obtained
result is less than the optimal. This is because of the images have certain analytical properties, which can
be exploited by encoders specifically designed only for them. Also, some of the finer details of the image
can be renounced for the sake of storing a little more bandwidth or deposition space. In the paper,
compression is done on medical image and the compression technique that is used to perform compression
is discrete wavelet transform and discrete cosine transform which compresses the data efficiently without
reducing the quality of an image
A Review on Image Compression using DCT and DWTIJSRD
This document reviews image compression techniques using discrete cosine transform (DCT) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT). It discusses how DCT transforms images from spatial to frequency domains, allowing for energy compaction and efficient encoding. DWT is a multi-resolution technique that represents images at different frequency bands. The document analyzes various studies that have used DCT and DWT for compression and compares their performance in terms of metrics like peak signal-to-noise ratio and compression ratio. It finds that DWT generally provides better compression performance than DCT, though DCT requires less computational resources. A hybrid DCT-DWT technique is also proposed to combine the advantages of both methods.

This document compares the DCT and DWT image compression techniques. It finds that DWT provides higher compression ratios and avoids blocking artifacts compared to DCT. DWT allows better localization in both spatial and frequency domains. It also finds that DCT takes more time for compression than DWT. Experimental results on test images show that DWT achieves higher PSNR and lower MSE and BER than DCT, indicating better reconstructed image quality at the same compression ratio. In conclusion, DWT is found to provide better compression performance than DCT for images.
Image compression and reconstruction using improved Stockwell transform for q...IJECEIAES
Image compression is an important stage in picture processing since it reduces the data extent and promptness of image diffusion and storage, whereas image reconstruction helps to recover the original information that was communicated. Wavelets are commonly cited as a novel technique for image compression, although the production of waves proceeding smooth areas with the image remains unsatisfactory. Stockwell transformations have been recently entered the arena for image compression and reconstruction operations. As a result, a new technique for image compression based on the improved Stockwell transform is proposed. The discrete cosine transforms, which involves bandwidth partitioning is also investigated in this work to verify its experimental results. Wavelet-based techniques such as multilevel Haar wavelet, generic multiwavelet transform, Shearlet transform, and Stockwell transforms were examined in this paper. The MATLAB technical computing language is utilized in this work to implement the existing approaches as well as the suggested improved Stockwell transform. The standard images mostly used in digital image processing applications, such as Lena, Cameraman and Barbara are investigated in this work. To evaluate the approaches, quality constraints such as mean square error (MSE), normalized cross-correlation (NCC), structural content (SC), peak noise ratio, average difference (AD), normalized absolute error (NAE) and maximum difference are computed and provided in tabular and graphical representations.

Balancing Compression and Encryption of Satellite Imagery IJECEIAES
With the rapid developments in the remote sensing technologies and services, there is a necessity for combined compression and encryption of satellite imagery. The onboard satellite compression is used to minimize storage and communication bandwidth requirements of high data rate satellite applications. While encryption is employed to secure these resources and prevent illegal use of image sensitive information. In this paper, we propose an approach to address these challenges which raised in the highly dynamic satellite based networked environment. This approach combined compression algorithms (Huffman and SPIHT) and encryptions algorithms (RC4, blowfish and AES) into three complementary modes: (1) secure lossless compression, (2) secure lossy compression and (3) secure hybrid compression. The extensive experiments on the 126 satellite images dataset showed that our approach outperforms traditional and state of art approaches by saving approximately (53%) of computational resources. In addition, the interesting feature of this approach is these three options that mimic reality by imposing every time a different approach to deal with the problem of limited computing and communication resources.

Implementation of Fractal Image Compression on Medical Images by Different Ap...ijtsrd
FIC Fractal Image Processing is actually a JPG image which needs to be perform large scale encoding to improve and increase the compression ratio. In this paper we are going to analyze different constraints and algorithms of image processing in MATLAB so that there will be very low loss in image quality. It has been seen that whenever we contain any HD picture that to in medical application we need to sharpen the image that is we need to perform image encryption, image de noising and there should be no loss in image quality. In this paper, we actualized both consecutive and parallel adaptation of fractal picture pressure calculations utilizing programming show for parallelizing the program in Graphics Processing Unit for medicinal pictures, as they are very comparable inside the picture itself. Whenever we consider an image into fractal image, it has great importance and application in image processing field. In this paper compression scheme is used to sharpen and smoothen of image by using various image processing algorithm. There are a few enhancements in the usage of the calculation too. Fractal picture pressure is based on the self closeness of a picture, which means a picture having closeness in dominant part of the locales. We accept this open door to execute the pressure calculation and screen the impact of it utilizing both parallel and successive execution. Fractal pressure has the property of high pressure rate and the dimensionless plan. Pressure plot for fractal picture is of two kind, one is encoding and another is deciphering. Encoding is especially computational costly. Then again interpreting is less computational. The use of fractal pressure to restorative pictures would permit acquiring a lot higher pressure proportions. While the fractal amplification an indivisible element of the fractal pressure would be helpful in showing the recreated picture in an exceedingly meaningful structure. Be that as it may, similar to all irreversible strategies, the fractal pressure is associated with the issue of data misfortune, which is particularly troublesome in the therapeutic imaging. A very tedious encoding process, which can last even a few hours, is another troublesome downside of the fractal pressure. Mr. Vaibhav Vijay Bulkunde | Mr. Nilesh P. A Comprehensive lossless modified compression in medical application on DICOM...IOSR Journals
ABSTRACT : In current days, Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) is widely used for
viewing medical images from different modalities, distribution and storage. Image processing can be processed
by photographic, optical and electronic means, because digital methods are precise, fast and flexible, image
processing using digital computers are the most common method. Image Processing can extract information,
modify pictures to improves and change their structure (image editing, composition and image compression
etc.). Image compression is the major entities of storage system and communication which is capable of
crippling disadvantages of data transmission and image storage and also capable of reducing the data
redundancy. Medical images are require to stored for future reference of the patients and their hospital findings
hence, the medical image need to undergo the process of compression before storing it. Medical images are
much important in the field of medicine, all these Medical image compression is necessary for huge database
storage in Medical Centre and medical data transfer for the purpose of diagnosis. Presently Discrete cosine
transforms (DCT), Run Length Encoding Lossless compression technique, Wavelet transforms (DWT), are the
most usefully and wider accepted approach for the purpose of compression. On basis of based on discrete
wavelet transform we present a new DICOM based lossless image compression method. In the proposed
method, each DICOM image stored in the data set is compressed on the basis of vertically, horizontally and
diagonally compression. We analyze the results from our study of all the DICOM images in the data set using
two quality measures namely PSNR and RMSE. The performance and comparison was made over each images
stored in the set of data set of DICOM images. This work is presenting the performance comparison between
input images (without compression) and after compression results for each images in the data set using DWT
method. Further the performance of DWT method with HAAR process is compared with 2D-DWT method using
the quality metrics of PSNR & RMSE. The performance of these methods for image compression has been
simulated using MATLAB.

Reversible Data Hiding Using Contrast Enhancement ApproachCSCJournals
Reverse Data Hiding is a technique used to hide the object's data details. This technique is used to ensure the security and to protect the integrity of the object from any modification by preventing intended and unintended changes. Digital watermarking is a key ingredient to multimedia protection. However, most existing techniques distort the original content as a side effect of image protection. As a way to overcome such distortion, reversible data embedding has recently been introduced and is growing rapidly. In reversible data embedding, the original content can be completely restored after the removal of the watermark. Therefore, it is very practical to protect legal, medical, or other important imagery. In this paper a novel removable (lossless) data hiding technique is proposed. This technique is based on the histogram modification to produce extra space for embedding, and the redundancy in digital images is exploited to achieve a very high embedding capacity. This method has been applied to various standard images. The experimental results have demonstrated a promising outcome and the proposed technique achieved satisfactory and stable performance both on embedding capacity and visual quality. The proposed method capacity is up to 129K bits with PSNR between 42-45dB. The performance is hence better than most exiting reversible data hiding algorithms.

The document describes an improved image encryption and compression system using error clustering and random permutation. It proposes a highly efficient image encryption-then-compression framework. The image encryption method works in the prediction error domain and can provide a reasonably high level of security. Notably, the proposed compression approach applied to encrypted images is only slightly worse than compressing unencrypted images. In contrast, most existing encryption-then-compression systems significantly reduce compression efficiency. The system includes image encryption by Alice, image compression by Charlie, and sequential decryption and decompression by Bob. It analyzes the security of the proposed permutation-based encryption method and efficiency of compressing encrypted data.

Watering plants during the correct time is very important due to scientific reasons. Both underwatering, as well as overwatering, can lead to the growth of unhealthy plants or in extreme cases, the death of the plant/tree. These issues which are the case with most self-gardeners and plant lovers can be solved using the smart irrigation technique. The main purpose of this innovation is to assist plant lovers to continue their passion to grow plants at home with ease. Smart irrigation system helps in monitoring the moisture level which majorly affects plant growth besides other factors such as sunlight, fertility of the soil, etc. The digital planting pot has been designed in a way that it effectively incorporates the idea of smart irrigation. Arduino Uno R3 has been used as the main chip in this project along with a few other components like a soil moisture sensor, relay, and water pump. This project requires coding to synchronize all the components, and function properly. A required test has been carried out to review the functioning of the mechanism. The project was tested by once using the soil with enough moisture in the pot and then the soil with the least moisture. Both times, it worked exactly how it was supposed to function. When the soil with the least moisture was tested, there was a clear indication of a low level of moisture and accordingly, the water pump got triggered to water the plant, and when the soil with enough moisture was tested, there was again the clear indication of the correct level of moisture and the water pump was inactive. All the readings which were displayed on the LCD were checked back and forth during the project. The outcomes were the same as expected. Hence, it shows that every component in this project is actively functioning and the whole project is effectively designed.

A new convenient and efficient route for the synthesis of two very important hydroxo-bridged stepped-cubane copper complexes viz: [Cu4(bpy)4Cl2(OH)4]Cl2.6H2O (1) and [Cu4(phen)4Cl2(OH)4]Cl2.6H2O (2) have been obtained. This synthetic route from the mononuclear CubpyCl2 complex is easier, more reproducible and afforded the complex in a much higher yield than the other two previously reported procedures which were equally serendipitously discovered. The purity and formation of the complexes were confirmed with elemental (C,H,N) analysis and the details of the UV-Vis, Fourier transform infrared, electrospray ionization mass spectra of both complexes and the single crystal X-ray crystallography of 1 are presented and discussed. Myogenic differentiation requires to be exactly explored for the effective treatment of fracture. The speed of healing is affected by skeletal muscle, linked to activation of specific myogenic transcription factors during the repair process. In previous study, we discovered that psoralen enhanced differentiation of osteoblast in primary mouse. In the current study, we show that psoralen stimulates myogenic differentiation through the secretion of factors to hone the quality of repair in fractured mice. 3-month old mice were treated with corn oil or psoralen followed by a tibial fracture surgery. Fractures were tested 7, 14, and 21 days respectively later by histology and images observation. Skeletal muscles including soleus muscle and posterior tibial muscle around the damaged bone were collected for quantitative real-time PCR, HE staining, as well as western blot. Daily treatment with psoralen at seven, fourteen days or twenty-one days improves protein or mRNA levels responsible for the whole myogenic differentiation process, makes the muscle fibers more tightly aligned, and promotes callus formation and development. This data shows that high levels of myogenic transcription factors in the process of fracture healing in mice foster the repair of damaged muscles, and indicates a pharmacological approach that targets myogenic differentiation to improve fracture repair. This also reflects the academic thought of "paying equal attention to both muscles and bones" in the prevention and treatment of fracture healing.
The current pandemic has generated the search for new reliable and economic alternatives for the detection of SARS-CoV-2, which produces the COVID-19 disease, one of the recommendations by the World Health Organization, is the detection of the virus by RT-qPCR methods from upper respiratory tract samples. The discomfort of the pharyngeal nasopharyngeal swab described by patients, the requirement of trained personnel, and the generation of aerosols, are factors that increase the risk of infections in this type of intake. It is known that the main means of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 is through aerosols or small droplets, which is why saliva is important as a relevant means of detecting COVID-19. In this study, a modified method based on SARS-CoV-2 RNA release from saliva is described, avoiding the isolation and purification of the genetic material and its quantification of viral copies; the results are compared with paired pharyngeal/nasopharyngeal swab samples (EF/EN). Results showed good agreement in saliva samples compared to EF/EN samples. On average, a sensitivity for virus detection of 80% was demonstrated in saliva samples competing with EF/EN samples. The use of saliva is a reliable alternative for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 by means of RT-PCR in the first days of infection, having important advantages over the conventional method. Saliva still needs to be studied completely to evaluate the detection capacity of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid, however, the described process is viable, due to the decrease in materials and supplies, process times, the increment in the sampling and improvement of laboratory performance.
A recent study establishes that since 1970, there has been an ecological gap between human needs and the planet's resources, with annual resource demand exceeding the bio-productivity of the planet. Specifically, humanity utilises equivalent of 1.75 earths to produce the ecological resources used, with half of this attributable to food consumption. The present work therefore seeks to provide an empirically-based insight into the environmental sustainability of the EF of food consumption in Ijebu Ode. A descriptive cross-sectional approach was used, and primary data were collected from 400 systemically sampled households via structured questionnaires and analysed descriptively using Microsoft Excel and inferentially using mathematical models for calculating ecological footprints. Findings revealed that the household EF of food consumption in Ijebu Ode is 0.05gha per capita, with the footprint of cereal consumption (0.17gha; 37%) taking the major share, followed by meat with a footprint of 0.11gha (23.9%). As a result, it was concluded that Ijebu Ode has sustainable food consumption, which is necessary for its environmental sustainability. However, the sustenance of the former requires creating awareness of the need for sustainable consumption and prioritisation of integrated and population-wide policies and food intervention initiatives to encourage attitudinal change in favour of sustainable food consumption while fostering sustainable food production strategies amidst current environmental realities.
The symmetry occurs in most of the phenomena explained by physics, for example, a particle has positive or negative charges, and the electric dipoles that have the charge (+q) and (-q) which are at a certain distance (d), north or south magnetic poles and for a magnetic bar or magnetic compass with two poles: North (N) and South (S) poles, spins up or down of the electron at the atom and for the nucleons in the nucleus In this form, the particle should also have mass symmetry. For convenience and due to later explanations, I call this mass symmetry or mass duality as follows: mass and mass cloud. The mass cloud is located in the respective orbitals given by the Schrödinger equation. The orbitals represent the possible locations or places of the particle which are determined probabilistically by the respective Schröndiger equation.
Metal-organic molybdenum complexes were synthesized by the hydrothermal method using ammonium heptamolybdate as the metallic source, and as the organic ligand terephthalic acid (BDC) or bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET), obtained via glycolysis of poly(ethylene)terephthalate (PET). The BDC-Mo and BHET-Mo complexes were characterized by XRD, N2 physisorption, TGA, ATR-FTIR, SEM, XPS and their in vitro biocompatibility was tested by porcine fibroblasts viability. The results show that molybdates (MoO4-2) are coordinated to the carbonyl functional groups of BDC and BHET by urea bonding (-NH-CO-NH-) which is related to their high biocompatibility and high thermal stability. These organic molybdate complexes possess rectangular prism particles made up of rods arrays characteristics of molybdenum oxides (MoO3). The organic complexes BDC-Mo and BHET-Mo do not show to be cytotoxic for porcine dermal fibroblasts growing on their surface for up to 48 h of culture.

The next step would be developing our hybrid seed rice production system. Therefore, an experiment to determine the planting ratio and planting distance between 0025A (A)-a hybrid with MR283 (R)-inbreed variety was carried out. Planting ratios studied in this study were 2:4, 2:6, 2:8, and 2:10 while planting distance was 14 x 30 cm, 16 x 30 cm, and 18 x 30 cm. Statistical analyses suggested that yield R, yield A, and panicle number A were significantly affected by planting ratios while yield A was significantly affected by an interaction between planting distance and planting ratios. Panicle number A performed significantly higher at planting ratios of 2:4 compared to 2:10. Yield R shows higher significant performance under ratio 2:6 compared to 2:4 and 2:8. Relatively, yield A performed the best under planting distance of 18 x 30 cm. Furthermore, under this particular planting distance, the planting ratio of 2:10 shows the highest significant figure while 2:8 exhibits statistical parity. Both yield R and yield A were significantly affected by planting ratios and have a significant positive association with each other. Therefore, the planting ratio of 2:10 should be the best since it contributed to significantly highest value for yield A while yield R under 2:10 shows statistical parity with 2:6 which was the highest significant value. In conclusion, the combination of 2:10 with a planting distance of 18 x 30 cm was the best since it shows best potential for both yields A and yield R
This document summarizes a study on cassava production systems in the Tivaouane department of Senegal. Key findings include:
- Cassava is an important crop for food security but production in Senegal remains low compared to other African countries.
- The study examined farming practices through surveys of 85 producers in 8 communes across two agro-ecological zones.
- Analysis showed cassava is only grown during rainy season with traditional cultivation methods. Four of five recommended varieties were grown, with different varieties preferred in each zone.
Cassava plays an important role in improving food security and reducing poverty in rural areas. Despite its importance, its production in Senegal remains low compared to other African countries. Nowadays, it is confronted with numerous constraints. It is in this context that a study was conducted on the cassava production system in the Thiès "cassava granary" region, with the objective of examining farmers' cultivation practices. It was conducted in eight communes located in the department of Tivaouane, some of which are located in the Niayes agro-ecological zone and others in the central-northern groundnut basin. Surveys were conducted among the largest cassava producers in these communes. Analysis of the results showed that cassava is only grown in the rainy season with the same cultivation practices that have been used for years. Of the five varieties listed by the President of the Senegalese Cassava Interprofession, only four are grown in the areas surveyed. The Terrasse (43%) and Kombo (36%) varieties are grown more by our respondents in the Niayes area. Soya (75%) and Wallet "Parydiey" (20% of our sample) dominate in the central-northern groundnut basin.
We are witnessing very demanding and stressful times in which we live, and an occupation that is particularly exposed to stress and different working conditions is the job of a nurse. Exposing themselves to everyday challenges and stressful situations, nurses reach a stage of great emotional and physical exhaustion, lethargy, dissatisfaction, and poorer work achievements, which we know as burnout. The aim of this paper was to determine whether there is and to what extent professional burnout is present in nurses and technicians working in nursing homes across Slovenia and Croatia. The paper is answering the questions of the extent of the burnout influenced by individual characteristics (age, education, years of service and work experience at the current workplace). The study involved a validated questionnaire “The Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI)” to measure professional burnout. Surveying of the nurses was conducted online at their home institutions. The results show that all respondents have a medium or high level of professional burnout, while no one has a low level or shows no signs of burnout. In terms of age, the group from 55-65 years of age had the highest relative level of burnout in the age group category. With regard to education, the highest burnout was measured in registered nurses.

simulate fractal picture pressure [8]. The area hinders that are coordinated obstruct range in a picture for each
obstruct can be recognized using fractal picture pressure. The Euclidean separation is used to compare two
images. The time required to decompress an image is called decoding time (DCT), whereas encoding time
(ECT) is required to compress an image. It is a measure of a compression system's ability to distinguish
between noise and a pictorial signal in a compressed image. If the ratio is too small, the compression system
cannot distinguish between noise and a pictorial signal.
There are two main process definitions for two complex processes, compression, and decompression.
Compression is defined as transforming an original data representation into a representation of simple bits.
Decompression is the reverse of compression and involves reassembling the decompressed data set from the
original data set. Visually lossless compression refers to the absence of visible data loss during compression
and decompression. The evaluation found that image compression is visually lossless and highly subjective.
2. Literature Survey
The global population's use and reliance on computers grow as technology advances. Images, for example,
have limited bandwidth and storage, so they must be compressed before transmission and storage [9]. For
example, someone with a large number of images on their website or online catalog will likely need to use an
image compression technique to store them because the amount of space required to store inadequate images
can be unreasonably large in both cost and size. Images can be compressed using a variety of methods. Image
compression is divided into two types: lossless and lossy. Images lose fidelity when compressed, especially at
lower bit rates. If the compression ratio is too high [10], the reconstructed images lose quality and some
artifacts are lost. DCT is the technique to use when a high compression ratio is required along with a
high-quality reconstructed image. A sequence of finite multiple data points can be expressed using the
Discrete Cosine Transform expression, which is a sum of cosine functions oscillating at different frequencies.
It is widely used because DCT compression is extremely efficient in lossy image compression, which is what
JPEG is designed to do. In DCT and Fourier transforms, images are converted into frequency-domain decor
relate pixels [11, 12]. DCT has reversibility because it divides images into parts with different frequencies that
can be reconstructed. Less important frequencies are eliminated during quantization, resulting in "lossy
compression," while the most important frequencies are only retained to retrieve the image during
decompression, resulting in "lossless compression." Diffusion causes distortion in some parts of the image
reconstruction, but it can be adjusted during compression. The JPEG method supports both grayscale and
colour images [13]. The Haar Wavelet Transform is a simple and memory-efficient image compression
method. Other features include speed and fundamental transformations from space to local frequency domain
[14]. A Haar Wavelet transform decomposes each signal into two components, the average (approximation)
or trend component and the difference (detail) or fluctuation component. This includes the size of any arrays
created as a result of the conversion.
The Haar wavelet transform divides an image into high and low-frequency components. To produce a
compressed image, each of the results from the first cycle is combined with those from the second cycle [15].

According to V. Mishra et al., a bi-orthogonal wavelet transform is an orthogonal wavelet transform that has
symmetry in its filter, making it easier to use the filter functions and maintain the computation algorithms
[16]. All image data is zero outside of the segment, so any information about the region is lost. The
bi-orthogonal wavelet transform generates two different wavelet functions while generating two different
scaling functions. According to M. Beladgham, the wavelet transform's symmetry as well as orthogonality
make the reconstruction error close to the quantization error, resulting in high image quality even when
compressed [17].
According to S. Gupta, the Compression ratio of a lossy image is higher than a lossless image. Discrepancies
in the sparse matrix difference between lossless and lossy images cause this [18]. A lossy image with a sparse
matrix with more zeros than a lossless one discards more information during the filtering transform, resulting
in a smaller image size. Lossy image compression outperforms lossless image compression. Lossy images are
difficult to reconstruct due to a large amount of information lost, whereas lossless images are easy to
reconstruct due to the small amount of information lost.
3. Proposed System
This system involves the usage of MRI images as input before compression such that the compressed image is
stored in a given storage unit (e.g., hard drive), so that space occupied by the compressed images is less than
the space occupied by the original images while identifying and maintaining the relevant and essential
elements on the image. This system not only does it do that, but it also gives the numerical values from given
parameters such as PSNR and CR of different compression techniques in DWT. The block diagram is given in
Fig.1.

3.1. Haar Wavelet Compression
It is an efficient lossless and lossy image compression which uses averaging and differencing an image into
bands from an image of size N×M to a nearly sparse matrix of which a large set of entries is zero which is
stored in an efficient manner causing its size to be small. This type compression performs better in grey scale
images and since it is applied in MRI images there is a need of the technique to be lossless in order to prevent
loss of relevant information.

An image being a matrix it is represented in the formula:
T
B H AH (1)
Here, B is the compressed matrix, H is invertible matrix. And A is the original matrix.
From the formula (1) it is shown that B is nearly sparse as compared to A.
Images are represented as piecewise half open coordinate [0, 1] present in a vector space called V⁰. When the
vector space is V¹ is represented as [0, ½] and [½,1] such that if this is applied recursively until a vector space
Vj
is reached as the limit such that all these other vector spaces other that V⁰ they are subsets of V⁰.
During compression a horizontal filter is applied before applying a vertical and diagonal filter consecutively
so that a sparse matrix is produced whereby a few coefficients have a value greater than zero and the produced
image is compressed by scaling and translation functions which are represented as follows:
(a) LL is low pass filters for both vertical and horizontal.
(b) LH low pass filter for the horizontal and high pass filter for the vertical.
(c) HL high pass filter for the horizontal and low pass filter for the vertical.
(d) HH both vertical and horizontal high pass filter making it a diagonal.
This is called level 1 and level 2 can be applied inside the LL band. The increase in levels increases the extent
of compression but if the quality or energy of the compressed image is to be specified the value of a threshold
is needed since the zero values of a sparse matrix are traded with the quality of an image.
There are four main stages involved in image compression with Haar wavelet filter.
(1) An original image is represented as the original matrix.
(2) A transformed matrix is produced from the original matrix by application of averaging and differencing.
(3) Using threshold to find the new matrix whose quality is improved.
(4) Using the result of the image produced after the threshold value application to calculate parameters like
CR, PSNR and ECT.
3.2. DCT Compression
Discrete cosine transform compression is a technique that is used in the conversion of a signal into an
elementary component frequency and it is used commonly in most of the compression done here.
Mentioned earlier on, this project is applied in two-dimensional images (MRI images specifically) hence it
uses the matrix of N×M. It involves the application of each row and column with the one-dimension and the
transform is given below:

Some properties of the DCT which are of particular value to image processing applications:
a. Decorrelation: After the separate row or column compression function of DCT has been applied the results
are integrated to produce a finished and compressed image. One of the best outcomes using DCT in
compression is a high CR (compression ratio). In the reduction of the image either quantization or entropy are
used.
b. Energy Compaction: These are some of the features of the DCT that make it a good choice for image
processing: The most significant benefit of image transformation is removing redundant information between
adjacent pixels. Uncorrelated transform coefficients are generated, allowing them to be encoded separately.
Based on the evidence, it can be concluded that DCT has excellent decorrelation properties.
c. Separability: A transformation scheme's efficacy can be directly measured by compressing as much
information into as few coefficients as possible. The quantizer can safely discard coefficients with low
amplitude when they are encountered to avoid visual distortion. DCT is an excellent energy compaction
method when dealing with highly correlated images.
d. Symmetry: The DCT transform equation can be expressed in terms of separability. To take advantage of
this property known as separability, D I j) can be computed in two steps by performing successive 1-D
operations on the rows and columns of an image. The inverse DCT can be computed using the same logic as
presented here. Symmetry is d. As you can see from Equation 1, the row and column operations are
functionally identical. It's called asymmetric transformation because it's symmetrical. Separable symmetric
transforms can be expressed in terms of an N-symmetric transformation matrix, where M is the symmetric
transformation matrix. If the transformation matrix is precomputed offline and then applied to the image, it
will result in orders of magnitude more computation efficiency than the standard method. This is an
advantageous property.
3.2.1. Comparison of matrix
After decompression and reconstruction of the image blocks, we discarded nearly 70% of the DCT
coefficients, so let's see how the JPEG version of our original pixel block compares.
(1) The One-Dimensional DCT: It is a transform that, like others, attempts to decorrelate the image data
using the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). The compression efficiency of the overall transformation is
unaffected by encoding transform coefficients individually. The DCT and some of its most significant
features are discussed in detail in this section.
u = 0, 1, 2, and N, the most common DCT definition for 1-D sequences of length N is as follows: Zero, one,
and two

39
(2) The Two-Dimensional DCT: Likewise, the inverse transformation is defined as follows: To get x = 0, 1,
2, n, use the following formula. Because of this, the first transform coefficient is used to represent the sample
sequence's mean value. The DC Coefficient is a scientific term for this value. The AC Coefficients refer to all
of the other transform coefficients.
In the second dimension, a linear combination of weighted basis functions is created using the DCT. Input
data can be transformed into a linear combination of weighted basis functions using various transforms,
including the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). It's common to use frequency as one of these fundamental
functions. If you look at the 2-D Discrete Cosine Transform, you'll see that it's just a 1-D Discrete Cosine
Transform that has been applied twice. It's easy to see how computationally challenging it would be to deal
with a large image. As a result, many algorithms, such as the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), have been
developed to speed up the computation. An image is calculated using the DCT equation (Eq.1) for an image,
which is the DCT equation for an image with p (x,y) as its matrix. The letter N denotes the block size on which
the DCT is performed. The pixel values of the original image matrix are used to calculate a single entry (i, jth)
of the transformed image matrix.
4. Bi-Orthogonal Wavelet Filtering in Compression
This type of filtering process during compression particularly DWT compression involves the usage of
different filtering techniques whose efficiency is different when applied to different images. This paper being
specifically applied in MRI images, Bi-orthogonal wavelet filtering works as orthogonal wavelet filter only
that it has less energy conservation, does not support asymmetry and regularity as compared to the orthogonal
wavelet filter.
Given the nature of the bi-orthogonal filters not conserving energy or not Retaining Energy (RE) hence it is
lossy and not lossless. Lossless compression entails that RE percentage is 100%, but in bi-orthogonal filtering
RE cannot be 100% due to its inability of supporting asymmetry thus eventually losing all details that are
asymmetric resulting in a compressed image with low retained energy. MRI images have a lot of areas with
details that are asymmetric and if a tumor which is an area of interest during diagnostics is asymmetric, the
retained energy on those regions is very low hence resulting in the loss of important details which can result in
mis-diagnosis.
As a general law of thumb, wavelet filtering involves the quantization of wavelet coefficients. These
coefficients are classified into approximation coefficients and detail coefficients where by approximation
coefficients deals with giving pixel values of an image while detail coefficients deal with the horizontal,
vertical and diagonal details which is identical with the changes in the images. Thus, MRI images have a lot of
details with small magnitude of values and if the details are small enough to be recognized as zero with
respect or as specified by the threshold then RE can be close to 100%. Therefore, when using bi-orthogonal
wavelet filtering it is required to set threshold as small as possible so that important details are retained and
this is the first possible solution to solving the problem of increasing RE in bi-orthogonal wavelet filter.
Another solution is defining the ROI (Region Of Interest) by using sample of data from a dataset from which

these data are identified for the purpose of lowering the threshold on those areas so that RE is close to 100%
thus RE in all regions other than the ROI have RE less than or not close to 100%. ROI used in MRI images
uses 2D dataset which might also involve measuring the length of a particular ROI.
Given the high CR (compression ratio) of bi-orthogonal wavelet filter, it is also important for the best
wavelet-bank to be chosen at the same time while having the most favorable decomposition level serving as
crucial to the CR. The best or optimal wavelets in bi-orthogonal wavelet filter should have the property of
bi-orthogonality (this includes symmetric, supported size and recommended number of vanishing moments)
which makes the compressed image to have a large CR. Bi-Orthogonal wavelet filter is a family that has other
specific filters under it which include: Daubechies, Symlet and Coiflet filters and they are differentiated by
their different orders. The orders in bi-orthogonal wavelet filter involve five orders ranging from 1 to 5 and
they might carry different thresholds. Bi-orthogonal wavelet filter normally uses two processes during
compression of which the first is smoothing data using approximation coefficients in a scaling function φ and
the second is differences in terms of fluctuations present in an image using a function ψ and the processes are
shown in the equation below:

Haar and Daubechies wavelets have orthogonality, which has some nice features.
1. The scaling and wavelet functions are the same for both forward and inverse transform.
2. The correlations in the signal between different subspaces are removed.
In terms of wavelet implementations, the Haar wavelet transform is the most straightforward and
straightforward to implement of the bunch. This filter type suffers from a significant disadvantage due to the
Haar wavelet's inability to simulate a continuous signal.
He was the one who discovered the first continuous orthogonal compact support wavelet, which he named after
Daubechies. Keep in mind that the symmetry of the wavelet family has been broken in this case. In this case,
symmetry is advantageous because it allows for implementing the corresponding wavelet transform using
mirror boundary conditions, which reduces the number of boundary artifacts produced. It was as a result of this
that the biorthogonal wavelet was created.

6. Conclusion
Compression performance of the proposed system compared between different compression techniques such
as DCT, Haar wavelet transform and bi-orthogonal wavelet transform. The compression was measured in
terms of compression ratio (CR), peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), Hast wavelet transform giving a better
reconstruction and higher PSNR as compared to the existing systems such as JPEG2000, EBCOT. In terms of
computation time such as Encoding time (ECT) and decoding time (DCT) the Bi-orthogonal wavelet
transform with combined coding and Haar wavelet transform takes less time during encoding and decoding.
The results show that DCT gives a higher compression ratio when compared with other existing techniques.
6.1. Future Enhancements
The comparison of different Image compression techniques which are very vital for the a choice of the best
compression technique that best fits a given purpose but it does not address certain needs that were as
instrumental as those that were solved.
(1) Requirement of an automatic difference on the parameter results so that a user does not manually calculate
the differences.
(2) Requirement for a graph generator of the differences so that a user visualizes the data provided in the result
table so that it helps in showing how much the differences are including the improvement of documentation.
(3) Extending the user interface (UI) for the user’s capability of having a good user experience such as the
system's provision of information that can be useful for a user to know to what extent this system can be
applied on a sample of data.
