WHAT IS AN “AMOLED”??
 Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode
(AMOLED) is a new display technology for
Electronics.
 The advancement of display technology with high
saturation & sharpness.
 Each pixel consists of 3 sub pixels (RGB) this
means as “pentile Matrix”.
WHAT IS “OLED”???
 Organic light emitting diode consists of electroluminescent
layer emits light with an electrical response takes place.
 These mainly works with the light emitting electro chemical
cell(LEC) principal.
 Mainly operates in PMOLED(Passive Matrix OLED) &
AMOLED(Active Matrix OLED).
 Now Lets Talk About AMOLED.

LCD.
 This design resembles as AMLCD(Active Matrix LCD).

 Backlight: a bright source of light, typically LED’s
or fluorescent tubes.
 Liquid crystal and polarizers: these layers work
together to block the light.
 TFT backplane: the circuit in the TFT backplane
control the liquid crystal, twisting it to block the light
or allow it to pass(brightness).
 Color filter: filters the (white) light from the
backlight to make the red, green and blue
subpixels.

 The design of AMOLED is not so complicated as
LCD.
 This been consists of only 3 layers.

circuits that provide current to the OLEDs, thereby

receives the electrical response and perform light

 AMLCD corresponds the wastage of backlight energy
 Colour filter conversion response was not so good and
provides the accurate image quality
 Pixel adjustment and conversion is good.
