The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush in 1990 to prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities. The ADA prevents discrimination in employment practices such as hiring, firing, promotions, training, pay, and conditions of employment. It also requires public transportation, like buses, to be accessible to people with disabilities through modifications like wheelchair lifts. Employers who do not comply with the ADA face fines up to $100,000 or an injunction, so they are incentivized to treat all people equally regardless of disability status.

4. ADA Laws It’s safe to say that your possible employer has the least of interest in singling you out as they would face a nice hefty little fee in which they probably don’t want to pay and wont look too good on them in the long run. If you have a disability but are capable of doing the required tasks its inexcusable to single you out from the rest of the people out there.
5. As the law goes into action, public buses and other forms of public transportation must have modifications. Not having a wheelchair lift on buses or other public transportation can be seen as discrimination to those in wheelchairs and can be taken to court thus resulting in a fine. So, to avoid all of this, treat everybody equally and make sure you have the modifications necessary to not be seen as using discrimination. Transportation Services
6. For those employers who choose not to abide by the law of the ADA, they must face the consequences in which sometimes may not be the best. For example, this is only your first penalty, but how does $55,000 sound for a fine? ADA Penalty
7. ADA Penalty Perhaps you may think that $55,000 just may not teach you the first time as you fail to understand the ADA Law. Well maybe $100,000 will set you straight. If that doesn’t, well the final penalty but definitely not least is a court injunction which will not look too good on your record. So, before you judge somebody because of their disability, think about consequences beforehand.
8. Ada laws As you are aware though, some employers out there do still discriminate and not realize it until somebody finally says something. As an American with a disability, you learn that self advocacy must take place and let your employer know what you can and can not do.
