The Girls on the Run curriculum is a 10-week program for 3rd through 8th grade girls that incorporates training for a 5k run while teaching life skills. The curriculum is divided into three parts focusing on uniqueness, decision-making, and community responsibility. It emphasizes independent thinking, healthy choices, group dynamics, and problem solving rather than competition. The program began in 2007 with 23 girls and has since grown to serve over 350,000 girls annually across 24 lessons and 12 weeks with over 500 volunteers.
