1. Art of the title:
(2016 Ariel Schulman, Henry Joost)
2. in the Nerve
opening
In the Nerve opening my first impression is that it is very different
and unique to other title sequences. I like how it uses different
editing and social media platforms, such as snapchat to introduce
the theme and genre of the movie.
My first impressions of the movie is it could possibly be a movie
about the internet and social media.
Instead of using action in the opening sequence they used a lot of
text to convey the genre and theme.
The genre of the movie could possibly be action due to the music
which is fast moving or a mystery as the opening title does not
give much away.
3. in the Nerve opening
In the nerve opening it starts off by naming the directors of the
movie (Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman) . The font they use
replicates the mac loading sign suggesting it is to do with social
media/internet. Throughout the opening title we see many
different titles showing all the main people involved in the making
of the movie e.g. Rob Simonsen who created the music or the
movie.
The only actors mentioned in the opening are the two main
characters (Emma Roberts and Dave Franco) this is to attract
viewers who are interested in these actors. Furthermore this is to
also make the two main characters stand out as they are the only
actors mentioned.
4. in
the Nerve opening
Production companies
• Allison Shearmur
• Keep your head
• Lionsgate production
The most common production company within
the opening sequence is Lionsgate and including
this will attract many people as it is a well known
company.
5. in the Nerve
opening
The mise-en-scene of the nerve opening is simply
someone (who the audience is unaware of) on their
laptop using many different applications. The setting
is a media based opening, as someone scrolls through
many applications on a mac and other media
software.
6. in the Nerve opening
In the opening sequence of nerve the editing is to a high
standard. Throughout the title scene there are many sound
effects applied on top of the video, such as change in music,
pages turning and the typing sound on an iPhone.
The music fits well to the theme of the opening title as it is
loud and up beat making it sound like there is a lot of action
in the movie. There is varied amount of editing transitions,
such as sliding from one scene to the next. Using different
fonts and texts to move from one scene to the next.
