The Problem Of The Infant
Thinking about these events, I developed the following theory on what could have occurred that
evening: At least one adult Bigfoot brought the infant to my house, creating a diversion by
scratching on the front door. Then, with our attention on the front of the house, they crept around to
the back of the house. The adult lifted the infant over the rail, then set it down on the deck. The
infant was too small to reach the carpet without taking one step, in the snow, on the deck, thus
leaving a footprint. It then made its way around the glass table, walking on the carpet, which had
very little snow on it. The infant opened the dog foot tub, consuming the dog food. The parent then
went around to the other side of the deck, reaching over the... Show more content on

The next morning, I went out before daylight to check the ash for footprints. To my shock and
surprise, it had worked!! In the ash, on the front left corner of my house, was a very clear
footprint! Retrieving my video camera, I began to take video in the low light conditions due to
inclement weather forecast to move in later that morning. The ash had also stuck to the bottom of
the Bigfoot s foot, this a positive print of the foot in the grass. It appeared from the direction of
the prints, the Bigfoot s destination back of the house, possibly to go over the four foot dog fence
into the backyard. The track was fifteen inches long, with the ball of the foot five and a half inches
wide, the heel of the footprint was four inches wide. Unfortunately, this was an isolated event. The
Bigfoot learn quickly, and though I continued to put the fireplace ash out when the weather would
cooperate, the Bigfoot avoided stepping into the ash.
We would continue to allow the Bigfoot to eat our dog food as the winter wore on. We did this
because, we did not know how the Bigfoot would react if we abruptly removed their food
source. In February of 2011, the Bigfoot began to develop a pattern of visiting approximately
once every ten days. The scratching on the door stopped and the dog food was taken less often. In
early March of 2011, my wife threw out about a dozen overripe clementines. She threw them into
the dog lot where the motion sensor flood light was located.

Joyce Mri As A Cultural Icon Summary
Joyce approaches MRI as a Cultural Icon. As a cultural icon, the MRI symbolizes both the
progress of medicine as well as a powerful technology to reveal details about one s medical
condition. Joyce proposes that the MRI is not only a icon which is entwined in our life but is
also a great illustration of many cultural movements. The chapter starts with the a story to
demonstrate how a person s life may revolve around the MRI. Getting an MRI is like opening the
box of Schrodinger s cat. Without an MRI you can neither confirm nor deny the existence of a
problem. But after the MRI you have visual proof of the problem. Joyce focuses on how this visual
proof and confirmation has multiple cultural implications. Most of the points she raises relate...

I found this very interesting as It connects to the idea of Trust, but verify , a Russian phrase
commonly used by Reagan during talks with Russia. When we have a cancer or sickness the
stakes are high and so are the emotions. Denial of a condition can easily be refuted with proof
that the patient can understand. Although MRI s are great at helping doctors, patients also
benefit from seeing visual proof of a condition. Joyce writes about our growing trend towards
visualization and how everyone is accustomed to cameras and computers. Even in the operating
room visual technology is used as both surveillance and an aid. In addition to helping doctor,
Joyce also brings up the point on how an MRI illuminates a doctor s fear of litigation. Lawsuits
are common to medical practices and the fear of litigation is always present. The cultural trend
of scepticism and the need to cover your ass makes the use of MRIs much more common. With
an image, a doctor could argue how their interpretation was right or wrong and it is easier than
explaining what he/she observed. She also briefly brought up a point on how MRIs can symbolize
inequality as getting a MRI shows that you have access to the best of

Introduction
Social media has played and has been playing a crucial role in the development of health and
social care in United Kingdom (UK). Since the emerge of the health and social care sector, social
media has been performing a tremendous role as the health and social care is becoming an industry
and without this industry social and economic development of UK would not be possible. This

Mass media has a strong liaison and this strong interpersonal relationship with different sources of
information results in an unveiling of health and social care related information to the public.
Common people are completely influenced by the information provided by the sources. As the
sources of information has been introduced in the previous section, it is state worthy that social and
health care information has changed the attitudes, thoughts, and behavior of common people. Mass
media along with social media make people much more aware about their health and safety issues
(Godden, 2014).
For example:
Before the invention of Facebook, any movement that had to be taken place faced great difficulty.
But as Facebook grows and other mass media are getting concerned about the rights of them from
the society, any nonviolent movement is taking place without such effort than previously had done
(Mcclimens, et al, 2012).
People are conscious about various contagious diseases and much more aware about their
contribution to the society. They are also focused on their rights from the society. Their
contribution to the society and the benefits they are deriving from the society are summed to take
them to a balancing position or situation (AJOL, 2014).

Social Norms Within Our Society
Social norms are behaviors that are expected within our society. When we see these norms out in
public we might not acknowledge them because we re expected to know how to act in different
places or situations. When these norms are violated people may be confused of the situation and
can become confused, annoyed, or mad. Social norms are a part of our everyday lives since before
we were born there were norms laid out for us already, from the way we re supposed to behave,
dress, and even talk. Norms have high value in our society they are the standards by which
people define what is desirable or undesirable, good or bad beautiful or ugly . There re what we
expect in our society from our behavior at school, in public, or school. Each place has a certain norm
we as a society should know when and how to follow. As a guest at someone s house, whether it
s at a families, friends, or strangers the norm has always been the same. We have to show respect
to the owners and their property, be polite, and show good manners while there. So for my own
personal norm violation I decided to break the guest at someone s house norm. This was taken
place at one of my mother s close friends house who had invited us over for dinner an afternoon, I
had been thinking for a while on what norm to break and how. None of my family knew what I
had plan to do that afternoon, so it was going to surprise them also. As a Mexican family my
parents raised my siblings and I to always show respect towards

Why do we have flexible working arrangements, staff may require time off work due to illness
and may need to attend medical appointments on a regular basis. Job sharing is another way of
introducing flexible work agreements as some staff only want to work part time. Holding a meeting
to negotiate flexible work arrangements state all the important facts, the reason why you want to
change your work arrangements and possible solutions, it is important you be flexible with your
employer and consider other staff also. Flexible working arrangements can improve the ability of
employers to attract skilled and motivated employees, reduce stress levels and improve morale and

The Feminine Mystique By Betty Friedan
For centuries, writing has been one of the strongest forms of communication. Whether a person
is a reader or writer, both roles are equally important in this communication process. Why does an
author write a book? What message does he or she want to convey? Why does a person pick up
a book to read? How do they choose which topic to write about, which book to take off the shelf?
Is it random? Or is it because the book holds a certain appeal or relevance to their lives? Every
reader has a different answer for this question. The beauty of this is that each person, even if
reading the same book, leaves the final page with a different message; even more inspiring is
that sometimes this message is not even what the writer wanted to convey. The Feminine
Mystique, a book written by Betty Friedan, was a book used to put into words the dejection
women faced while living their daily lives. She explained how many women were unhappy with
their lives because they felt they had no real purpose, they resented that it was assumed their only
role could be that of wife, mother, and caretaker. She coined it the problem with no name because
although many women experienced this resentment, none were ever able to label it. This book hit
home with many of the readers. However, the book had many critics. Many people believed
Friedan exaggerated some of her depictions. They believe she generalized too much, leaving out of
her book the fact that there were many women who were self sufficient and

During the panel, there were four foster youth students who were brave to come and tell us about
their stories and how they are trying to succeed in college now. All four of the students come from

addition all four of them were happy that they found people who had went through struggles like
them, because all of them felt as if it was only them that went through this alone and it was nice
to know they were not alone. Which made them felt almost normal and by almost normal is that
once they have been identified as foster youth they are stuck with a social stigma that they may
turn out like their parents, they will never make it, they are dysfunctional. The social stigma
made it out to define who they are and what they are. When they were asked how was having a
foster background affected their lives here at Chico state, they said that it made them feel
uncomfortable, feel embarrassed, judged and looked down upon. Also they felt confided because
they were not able to tell anyone about who they are because of the fear of the stigma and

The Myths of Vietnam Essay
Contending versions of the Vietnam War and the antiwar movement began to develop even before
the war ended. The hawks version, then and now, holds that the war was winnable, but the press,
micromanaging civilian game theorists in the Pentagon, and antiwar hippies lost it. . . . The doves
version, contrarily, remains that the war was unwise and unwinnable no matter what strategy was
employed or how much firepower was used. . . Both of these versions of the war and the antiwar
movement as they have come down to us are better termed mythsthan versions of history because
they function less as explanations of reality than as new justifications of old positionsand the
emotional investments that attended them (Garfinkle, 7).

George Bush s promise not to make Kuwait another Vietnam in 1991.
Bill Clinton s attempts to avoid military service and whether those attempts were justified.

Continuing questions about whether N.A.T.O. involvement in the former Yugoslavia could become
another Vietnam.
While the controversy over the war has often been reduced to simplistic pro war or anti war
arguments as illustrated in the opening quotation, a more nuanced reading of post war literature
shows many more areas of controversy. All of these controversies cross over from hawks to doves
and back again. Much of the post war controversy over Vietnam can be summarized in four myths .
The first myth is that the micormanaging civilians in Washington lost an otherwise winnable
conflict. A second myth deals with the degree to which the radical, countercultural anti war
movement forced President Nixon to end the war. A third is the Rambo myth which claims that
American prisoners of war were kept in captivity in Southeast Asia after the cessation of American
military involvement and may still have been imprisoned into the 1990s. And lastly, we will
examine the myth that the US government would never knowingly harm its soldiers.
These four myths have been examined in numerous books published since the end of the

The American Dream Meaning
What is the American Dream? This is a question that has bewildered and eluded many for
centuries. For some it may be a simple and easy answer consisting of just living your life to the
fullest extent. Others look at it more theoretically and want to narrow it down to a definition. The
American Dream as they call it was first conceived when the founding fathers of America wrote the
Declaration of Independence in the 1700 s. IT was later made into an actual phrase in 1931 when
James Truslow Adams, author of the book Epic of America , coined the phrase in this same book,
which detailed his version of the American dreamvery explicitly.
Many authors are fond of touching up on the subject of the American Dream. One such person

Crime Rate In Houston Essay
Houston to National Offenses Compared
Houston, Texas population continues to grow and so does its crime rate. Houston is now
labeled as one of three cities driving up the national crime rate. As of matter of fact, Houston is
on track to have a murder rate increase of 13.5% from 2015 and an overall 50% increase from
2011 (Eisenbaum, 2016, p. 1). As population level increases and people living closer per square
miles the opportunities for murder and aggravated assault increase. This can be said for any city
that has dense populations. Based on data most murders and aggravated assaults occur with gang
violence and domestic violence.
Murder is the taking by another person s life. There are several degrees and circumstances that
define the level of murder. For the purposes of these statistics murder the rate is based on criminal
homicide. Negligent homicide is not referred to the rate and comparison between National figures

INTRODUCTION
In response to the financial crisis of 2008, there has been much criticism of the banking and
financial industry. Critics have expressed their opinions on potential causes and shared their ideas
on what steps need to be taken to help prevent future financial crises of such magnitude. Authors
Anat Admati and Martin Hellwig share their thoughts in the 2013 novel The Banker s New Clothes:
What s Wrong with Banking and What to Do about it.
Anat Admati is currently a professor of finance and economics at the Graduate School of Business
at Stanford University. Studying financial markets, financial contracting and recently started to
study corporate governance in the banking industry. Since the financial crisis she has been actively
involved in the debate on financial regulation pushing her viewpoints on capital requirements for
financial institutions. Co Author Martin Hellwig currently serves as the Director of the Max
Planck Institute for research on collective goods. His academia focuses on economic theory,
financial markets and institutions and macroeconomics with regard to monetary policy.
The novel revolves around the assertion that banks ought to increase their capital requirements in
order to be able to absorb fluctuations in the market on their own. The term capital requirement can
cause confusion among a layman, in banking terms it is interchangeable with equity, essentially the
stake that owners have in the corporation. They assert that prior to

Pseudoscience Theory
Research uses science and strict protocol to reach theories to explain hypothesis. Unfortunately
some science incompletely follows protocol or leaves out entire parts of the process. These
studies are considered pseudoscience. Brian Dunning wrote an article in 2007 called How to Spot
Pseudoscience. This article gives 15 telltale signs to spotting a pseudoscience. In the article Carol
Dweck Revisits the Growth Mindset article (Dweck, 2015), the authors posit that a Growth
Mindset is the key to growing one s brain. This theoryexplains that through increased effort one
can achieve feats of formerly impossible measures. Dunning s article is a useful guide in showing
that the Growth Mindset is a pseudoscience. Some reasons include the idea that if something
sounds too good to be true it probably is, the claim lacks the requirements of a theory and it also
fails to pass the Occam Razor test.
There is a saying that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This applies to
claims made under the guise of science as well. How great would it be if effort were the magical
key to gaining depths of knowledge formerly thought to be unachievable? If I just try harder, I
will be able to overcome. How can this be tested? Is effort quantifiable? One way effort is
measured is by the amount of time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

substantiated, it must be able to be duplicated and supported by not just one but multiple pieces

believe they are capable of doing so, as opposed to those with a fixed mindset , believing their
mindset is unchangeable or fixed, not malleable. Carol Dweck Revisits the Growth Mindset
article (Dweck, 2015). This study has yet to be duplicated. The lack of duplication of this study is
one reason it qualifies it as a

Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, by...
Wallace Stevens is not an easy poet to understand. His work is purposely twisted and tangled so one
is forced to thing whether they want to or not. Stevens poetry ranges from real life situations to
situations which are simply a depiction of his imagination. One thing can be concluded though,
Stevens does not allow his work to have a single meaning. Why should he? This is the upmost
quality that makes his stand out from his competitors in the poetic industry. An interesting theme
though which Wallace truly enjoys writing about, in all seriousness, is something thought
provoking perception. The book definition of perception is appending [something] by the means of
senses or the mind. In his poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is where one can see the new role the blackbird is playing. A new perception of the bird. It is
now part of one s conscious. It does not have an on or off button that any human can control just
like a river...moving (Stevens 48). A new theme is suggested in this part which makes its way up
to the top a couple more times in the work. It is choices. It this specific case it is clear that the
individuals the speaker is referring to do not have a choice but to acknowledge the bird. In the
fifth part on the other hand, once again a new idea is presented and this is not the case. Here the
bird becomes an objectified beauty but this doesn t last long because as the sixth part approaches,
the readers once again return to the winter time filled with icicles (Stevens 17 19). A circular
pattern can now be seen with the seasons. Another hint of a continuous process occurring the
process of perception.
In the seventh stanza the speaker calls up the thin men of Haddam (a city in Connecticut) and asks
about the golden birds (Stevens 25 26). He goes on to say that the Blackbird walks around the feet
of the women about [them] (Stevens 28 29). What could he possibly mean? Loazi, a philosophical
author, wrote in his book that one should Know the masculine, keep to the feminine. With that
being said, when the lines from the poem are re evaluated, it can be seen that the

Turkish Armenian Reconciliation Committee ( Tarc ) Essay
The Turkish government arguing the validity of the history has been under discussion as far as the
genocide. As they argue history is subjective therefore, it is not a fact that the genocide ever
happened. They ve asserted that the genocide is some idea brought about by historians that have
tried to sensationalize things so they can make a name for themselves. According to Theriault there
is a Turkish and an Armenian view of the history and each are extreme with either of them being
more valid than the other. Theriault goes on to talk about the Turkish Armenian Reconciliation
Committee (TARC) and how it was an ill fated initiative based on the idea that resolution of the
tension between Armeniansand Turks could be accomplished through a negotiated settlement of the
various issues each side perceived as important, including the history of 1915. These tactics were
used so that the Turkish government would seem like they were trying to aid in the Armenian
cause, although, nothing had come of this show for the public audience. Scholars that deny the
genocide claim Armenians are victims resulting in a negative relationship with the Turks today.
This claim by denial scholars perpetuates the Anti Armenian sentiment shared by the leadership of
Turkey and enables the domination relationship they have with Armenians.

Haute Couture Influences Ready-to-wear
Fashion has been around ever since ancient times, since the time of the Romans, it survived the
world wars and is yet today a business with rapid changes. Fashion started off as an art form, a
way for the riches to show their social status with unique and innovative designs that only they
could afford. It was a way to separate the social classes of the society. In this paper I will include
the creator of haute couture, and how the following designers developed couture, as well as having
leading names in today s ready to wear industry. The list is long, but I chose to focus on the three
most important designers of the modern fashion industry.

It wasn t until Chanel started to create jackets which not only had the purpose of being worn
closed, she created jackets that looked good opened, closed or hanging over the shoulders. She
emphasized on this style by making blouses to serve the complete outfit. She was also the
creator of the Little Black Dress , which was a relatively simple black dress made by elegant
materials such as lace, tulle, weightless silk and even embroidery in a new, more tailored way.
Chanel is today world known for its high quality designs and has women of the 21th century
dependent on its classical style (Rennolds Milbank 120 121).
Elsa Schiaparelli was another star in the 30 s along with Chanel, but the contrast between them was
nothing more but interesting. Their designs were different, looked upon as day and night, but still
representing the extremes of couture, but they catered to the same clients.
Balenciaga, another well known high end designer once said: Coco had very little taste, but it was
good. Schiap, on the other hand, had lots of it, but it was bad .
Schiaparelli created the color shocking pink . The House of Schiaparelli struggled after World
War II as fashion had changed and Dior s New Look was in, which lead to the closing of the
couture house in 1954, but her visions still lives on in the interpretations of today s ready to wear

Reggae as a Means of Social Transformation Through The Voices of the Rastafari
Jamaica, the third largest Caribbean island is not only home to tropical weather and picturesque
landscapes, but also to social unrest and perhaps some of the most rebellious people. Since its
existence, this nation has seen a series of revolutions and riots in efforts to reverse the unjust social,
economic, and political conditions. The most influential of these revolutionary efforts contributed
to the formation of Jamaica s very own religious movement, Rastafarianism. With oppression
serving as one of the driving forces for the Rastafari Movement, it is understandable why its
followers are so adamant about professing their ideologies, beliefs and practices. The central
language used to express the grievances of Rastafarians is known globally as the music genre,
Reggae. It is not merely coincidental that the country pregnant with such radical motives also gave
birth to its own music brand. By examining the music of artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis
Brown, Luciano and more, we can deduce that Reggae music served and continues to serve as the
most prominent vehicle for the spread of Rastafarianism.
The Rastafari Movement emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s out of desires to defeat the crippling
British colonial culture and to establish an identity based on the reclamation of African heritage.

Sound is something that is truly incredible and unique. You don t realize how important sound is

in the film. The various sounds that were utilized throughout the filmsuccessfully revealed

Who Is Victor Frankenstein A Villain
In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, it is hard to differentiate who is the hero and who is the villain. In
countless stories, it is almost automatically quite easy to distinguish the characteristics between the
hero and the villain. This is not the case in Mary Shelly s novel Frankenstein. In the novel, we meet
Victor Frankensteinand his science experiment gone rogue, the Creature. At first glance into the
novel, many people would debate that the Creature is, in fact, the villain because he had
maliciously murdered Victor Frankenstein s family and closest friends. Of course anyone with a
properly functioning brain would say that the Creature is the bad guy but what some people do not
take into consideration is the Creature s background,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite being gifted with excelling academically, he believes that his beliefs are
indistinguishable to the rules of the world that he must follow. When Victor was young he had
always been curious about life and death, as he got older, his curiosity turned into an obsession.
A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would
owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should
deserve theirs (Shelly 4.8). Frankenstein becomes obsessed with science because it helped him
cope with the death of his mother, Caroline, and it is also his breaking point. His emotions
mistakenly lead him to believe that he can have control over the destinies of people s lives if only
he knew how. This is where his obsession develops. Nor could I consider the magnitude and
complexity of my plan as any argument of its impracticability. It was with these feelings that I
began the creation of a human being. (Shelly 4.7). Frankenstein does not take into consideration
about the consequences he may face before he creates the Creature. When Frankenstein beings to
understand the factors to what makes life possible, he uses science in trying to become God and

The Issue of Transnational Aid Intervention
The issue of transnational aid intervention has become a worldwide topic for debate regarding its
role in ethics and legitimacy in international relations. Historically, international aid had been
provided by developed worlds governments. However, aid provided by the developed world became
problematic because of international treaties, violation of state sovereignty, and the spread of
capitalist enterprises (Willetts). In addition to, many of the developing world leaders, consider the
concept of aid intervention to be potentially threatening and an excuse for more powerful nations to
undermine and threaten their state sovereignty through a change in the nations economic and social
discourses (Willetts). In an attempt to counterbalance this predicament, institutions known as Non
Governmental Organizations (NGOs) were formed to emphasize humanitarian issues,
developmental aid and sustainable development (Willetts). An NGO is defined as a citizen based
association that operates independently of government, usually to deliver resources or serve some
social or political purpose (Willetts 1). Currently, NGOs play a crucial role in providing
mechanisms which enhance global human progress. To understand the work of NGOs one must
know the history of humanitarian aid and developmental assistance. History of Humanitarian Aid
and Developmental Assistance Humanitarian aid is defined as physical resources and or logistical
assistance intended to save lives, alleviate suffering, and

Who Is Martha Washington A Hostess
The greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our disposition not our circumstances,
once said by Martha Washington the first First Lady in history. In the White House, there have
been many different personalities, and families living there. Including forty four first ladies and
their families. Each woman has had many different responsibilities and pressures throughout
their lifetime (Waldrup 1). A President s main duty is to make sure that laws are executed the
way they are intended to, and appoint cabinet officials. Approving or vetoing bills is often
considered one of the most valuable things a President does (Levy, Mcdonald). Meanwhile, First
Ladies used to serve as a hostess to the White House. Rather now they serve as a hostess to the
United States. Many people would say they are the face of the country. During the past few
elections the potential First Ladies have started to campaign (Caroli). I think I am more like a state
prisoner than anything else, there is certain bounds set for me which I must not depart from..,
Martha Washington wrote in a remaining letter to her niece (The White House). Martha Dandridge
Custis Washington was born on June 21, 1731 (Waldrup 3), near Williamsburg on a large plantation
(The White House). She grew up in New Kent County, Virginia and had a good childhood.
Transitioning to adulthood, at eighteen, Martha married a wealthy man named Daniel Parke Custis.
During their marriage they had four children, but sadly two died at

Violence As Fun By Randall Sullivan Summary
The article Violence As Fun by Randall Sullivan brings up this issue, arguing that parents need to
be educated on the dangers of allowing their children to watch violent TV programs. The author
supports this with evidence from a report conducted by The American Psychological Association,
where they concluded that early substance abuse, access to weapons, isolation, and widespread
display of violencein media; the latter being greater, contributes to the violent behaviors in
adolescents. He also points out that since the 1950s, aggravated assaults have increased seven
times. The passage further emphasizes that many TV outlets know the damaging effects that
violence in media has on juveniles, yet only a few acknowledge this fact. Sullivan s... Show more

This is because they view it all the time, so it becomes commonplace to where they are no longer
affected by it. This can cause them to embrace these acts, which can lead to them becoming
aggressive. The disadvantages of adolescents being desensitized to violence are being less likely to
help someone in a life threatening situation, lack of empathy and encouraging violent behaviors.
This is supported by Sullivan, stating The media s influence on young people is arguably the most
corrosive of all factors cited and by far the most difficult to contain. (Sullivan 619). This shows that
not only is the media a dominating force, it s detrimental and problematic to contain and refrain
from. When children are watching cartoons like Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner and the
popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; where the characters blow each other up with TNT and
fight with swords and daggers, they are not wincing at the mayhem, instead they re laughing and
applauding the antics because they think it s funny and cool. Because their children seem to be
entertained, parents are not intervening for the reason that their kids now have something to
occupy their time. As a result, this may send mixed signals to adolescents causing them to believe
that these outrageous acts are

Interview With A Teacher With Lori Bunting
I interviewed a teacher from Seckman High School named Lori Bunting. I asked Lori several
questions and she gave me more insight on the teaching career. Lori graduated from Southeast
Missouri State in in 2000 with her Bachelors in Secondary Education and Mathematics. She then
received her masters in classroom teaching in 2008 from MissouriBaptist University. With student
teaching in my near future I thought asking her about her student teacher experience would give
me some advice on what my next steps are. Lori student taught at two different schools and for
eight weeks each. The first place she student taught was at Oak Ridge High Schoolin Oak Ridge,
Missouri. Lori stated that the schoolwas very small and only had one math teacher. She said this
gave her an insight of what it would feel like to teach in a small school. On the other hand, she
also taught at Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She said she really
enjoyed this experience because the school was much bigger and she felt more involved in the
school. She said that unlike today, she had no choice of where she student taught but she was
grateful for the experience she had at both Oak Ridge High School and Cape Central High School.
As a future teacher I was curious what the day to day life of a teacher consists of. I asked Lori to
explain to me what a typical day as a teacher looks like. Lori told me that she normally arrives to
school about 45 minutes before the day begins and gets her

Deuteronomistic Themes In 1 Samuel
Secondly, Saul s home was most likely Gibea or some place close to it. Therefore, some have
concluded that the possibility of mixed marriages with new comers, since Gibeonites, who were
from Edomite territories, settled in the land of Benjamin. This is the possible reason why the
genealogy of Saul does not indicate where his father s home is; it was not known or it was deleted.
Summary
In this section historical information concerning the lives of Saul and Samuel have been discussed.
Such information will enlighten ones cultural and contextual study of 1 Samuel 8 15. Moreover,
the reader will have more insight into the referential world of the author, thereby allowing one to
discern their intended meaning.
Theological Overveiw
It is conceivable that Deuteronomistic themes exist within 1 Samuel since it is accepted to be part
of the Deuteronomistic History. Three main Deuteronomistic theological themes or concerns are
evident within 1 Samuel.
First, foreseeing the day that Israel would have a king, expressed in Deuteronomy are instructions
for such a time. At this point it should be noted that the idea of Israel having a king, began in the
mind of God. Contrary to what some believe about the idea of kinship and God s supposed disdain
for it, Howard mentions the fact that God has spoken of kings to Abraham from the beginning
(Gen. 17:6, 16; 35:11) ; furthermore, he noted that the problem with anointing a king was intention
of the people to be like the nations

Thesis On Headscarf
When Rayouf Alhumedhi and her friends chat together on the messaging app WhatsApp, they don t
use names to identify themselves. Instead, they use emojis. But Rayouf, who wears a headscarf,
couldn t find one that looked like her.
My friends, who don t wear the headscarf, they found something, Rayouf says. For me? I had to
opt to not use an image of a woman wearing a headscarf. Because there isn t one.
The 15 year old high school student decided to change that.
Rayouf was born in Saudi Arabia and currently lives in Berlin, Germany. She wrote a proposal to
create a hijab emoji. Hijab is another word for headscarf. Many Muslim women wear such scarves
every day for religious reasons. For many Muslims, it is not proper for a women s hair to ... Show

She wrote to Apple asking for a headscarf emoji, but she never heard back from the company.
Then, on the app Snapchat, she watched a video about how to propose a new emoji. The video
explained that anyone can ask Unicode for a new emoji, and gave directions on how to get started.
Rayouf sent two paragraphs describing her idea to Unicode. Her proposal was much shorter than
typical emoji requests, which can include pages and pages of details and designs. Still, she heard
back from a member of Unicode, who offered to help her shape up her idea for formal
consideration. An artist created the headscarf emoji design for her.
Rayouf s proposal would create a headscarf emoji that could be used with the many human
emojis that already exist. It works kinds of like putting an outfit on a paper doll. The proposal is
supposed to be formally reviewed by Unicode in November. If it is approved, the new emoji could
be announced as soon as mid 2017.

Abstract
IPv6 is the latest version of internetworking protocol designed to answer all the limitations of the
current standard Internet Protocol IPv4. Transitioning to the next generation of Internet Protocol
became an issue with the mass standardisation of IPv4 since the early start of Internet. And due to
the fact that IPv4 and IPv6 are incompatible with each other. Therefore, a transition mechanism is
required during the migration from IPv4 to IPv6 networks.
In this paper we will be investigating IPv6 networks and systems. IPv6 benefits over IPv4 are
explained through a list of researched advantage and disadvantage between the two Internet
Protocols. Transition strategies towards IPv6 through different technologies is demonstrated. This
paper will also attempt to discuss why IPv6 is better than IPv4 and is it necessary to migrate to the
new generation Internet protocol.
Introduction
This paper provides an introduction to investigating the IPv6 networks. This will promote
awareness and better understanding of the benefits of using IPv6 over IPv4. A brief history on
Internet Protocols are explained. Overview on the advantages and disadvantages of both IPv4 and
IPv6 are shown as well as a table

How Did The Hundred Years War Contribute To The French...
Helps the Middle Class to Rise The Hundred Years War was a conflict between England and France
that lasted (with some interruptions) from 1337 to 1453 ( The Hundred ). Although the war caused
many significant changes in both England and France, one of the most interesting ones was its
contribution to the end of feudalism and the development of a true middle class in England. The
Hundred Years War
helped the middle class to rise by reducing the number of available workers in
the population, exposing ordinary soldiers to the crossbow, and assisting in the formation of
overseas trade partnerships. One of the most obvious ways that the Hundred Years War helped
the Middle Class to rise was that it did away with surplus workers. Although it is impossible to
calculate exactly how many people were killed during the war, during the years of the most intense
fighting as many as 200,000 men a year may have been killed (Blackmon 225). The majority of
these casualties were not among the ruling class... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the opening battles of the war the French used battalions of Italian mercenary soldiers armed
with crossbows. The crossbows were no match for the English long bows in the hands of a
trained archer, but the advantage of the crossbow was that it could be fired by anybody who
could cock and aim it (Conrad 12). It required no special training. It could also be aimed
precisely enough to shoot through the gaps in armor, and some crank crossbows could even
shoot through thin armor (Crossbow Historical Society). English soldiers took these weapons
home, probably as spoils of war. They were then used by primitively organized militias, the so
called Pitchfork Police, who were forced into protecting their villages because all of the knights
were gone (Conrad 38). When ordinary people learned that they could protect themselves, one of
the primary reasons for the existence of feudalism was

Analysis Of Repertory Dance Theater Concert Essay
Critical analysis of RDT
I attended the Repertory Dance Theater concert on March 5, 2016 at 7:30 PM in the Snow College
Theater Eccles Center for Performing Arts. The concert was held because the Repertory Dance
Theater was celebrating their 50th Anniversary. Dancers were touring around Utah and performing
in almost every city. Concert consisted of five choreographed dance performances that lasted for
about 2 hours. They were performed in this order: Suite from Mazurkas, Jack, Crippled up blues
and other tales of Deseret, Begging the question and Pigs and Fishes. Today I am going to be
analyzing all of these five dances.
Suite of Mazurkas was the opening performance. It was first performed on August 15, 1958 at
the American Dance Festival in Connecticut. The dance from the Saturdays concert was
choreographed by Jose Limon. It consisted of seven parts. In the first part, four girls started the
dance with light hand movements and some jumping. They were wearing black flowy dresses.
Relaxing piano music was going around throughout the all seven parts. Next part was a solo
danced by a male dancer dressed in all black. Being on stage he danced around, jumping and
using the space pretty well. Light changed from purple, for the first part, to blue for this second
male solo part. Then there was a couple dancing. They looked like they were in love under the
purple/ pink lights. Music was still the same. Movements were synchronized, lyrical and repetitive.
Same piano music and

Application Of The Nursing Staff At Dwu Virtual Hospital
In the nursing field change is a daily reality. The continuing improvements in health care mean
that there are continually changing ways to provide health care. Anyone who has been in the
nursing field for any amount of time is sure to have uttered the words Do you remember when we
used to...? From a nursing point of view not all change is positive, and not all change is
welcomed. Every change is however aimed at providing the best care and achieving the best
possible outcome for the patient. This project will outline the process that will be used to introduce
the nursing staff here at DWU Virtual Hospital to the change of implementing electronic medical
records.

This plan will begin with smaller unit meetings led by the unit manager. Next, training sessions in
virtual patient records will be led first by managers and then by peers. In the third and final stage
the EMR will be implemented and all staff will be responsible for ensuring the proper use of the
EMR.
Change Plan Design To initiate the plan we will begin with the first stage of Lewins Theory,
unfreezing. The unfreezing process is the process of creating a time frame for staff to become
ready for the change (Huber, 2014). Management will need to inform staff of the upcoming
change. This should be done in a small unit meeting with only the nurses and unit manager
present. Keeping the meeting small will help prevent any feelings of being intimidated and will go
along with the shared governance system recently instituted. In this meeting the manger will
present researched facts regarding EMR implementations. Among these facts would be the fact
that having an EMR will save time. Nursing staff will have access to all previous records and will
no longer need to wait for other departments to obtain these records (Gagnon et al. 2010). Also
having an EMR system encourages teamwork between the healthcare and support personnel in a
facility (Gagnon et al. 2010). For example, nursing will be able to look at the radiology and lab
schedule and coordinate with them on times for patient testing. During this meeting

Pros And Cons Of Women In The Military
Women in the Military Women being in the military has become more prevalent in the last few
decades, but are they helping or hurting the military by doing so? Women being allowed in the
military dates all the way back to World War I where women would serve as nurses to aid
wounded soldiers (Wood). Now, women are allowed to serve in different roles, combat being one of
them. There is controversy whether the militaryis a place for women, but research shows pros and
cons to both sides. Even though women were not allowed to enlist in the military until World War
I, they would disguise themselves as men in earlier wars such as the Revolutionary, Civil and
Mexican War in order to be apart of the military. The Navy and Marine Corps were... Show more

Although, one concern for women being allowed to serve in a combat occupation is sexual
harassment. The issue regarding sexual harassment has become more prevalent in the past decade
because military personnel is having more faith in the military to investigate such accusations
accordingly. Just last year, 6,131 sexual assault reports were filed with the DoD. In 2007, the
number of sexual assault filings were half of what they were last year which makes the DoD
believe the implications about sexual harassment they have put into place are working (Whitlock).
Whitlock s article states that an extreme amount of alcohol consumption is one of the leading
causes of sexual harassment cases, but there is no specificity on whether the cases are against men
or women. Sexual harassment has often been focused more on women being victims, but men can
be victims of such crimes as well. That is why the military has implemented a variety of methods
into the regular military training regarding sexual harassment and the repercussions of such actions.
On another note, there are studies that show women are more organized, creative thinkers and have
better social sensitivity skills than men (Haring). Haring s work explains that women are better at
reading people s emotions, therefore using that intel to make more

The purpose of CERCLA would not be eviscerated if the EPA is forced to litigate each detail of
its removal and remedial plans before implementing them. The EPA could still implement
removal and remedial plans with the landowners compliance so that the hazardous waste could
be properly taken care of. The responsibility for the cleanup should be on the land owners and not
the taxpayers, but a new process needs to be established. For example, it would be great if the
EPA and the landowner worked together to pursue a cleanup strategy, whereby the landowner
would be able to pick the way it will be performed to keep the costs as low as possible with the
EPA approving the type of clean up that needs to be performed to ensure that it will be

CERCLA was created to respond to the growing concerns of hazardous substance in an attempt
to regulate and to provide long term solutions to hazardous waste problems. To do this, the
CERCLA has a fund set aside to conduct emergency clean up activities and hold landowners
responsible for paying for the clean up. I believe that the EPA s role to litigate details of the clean

War On Terror And Terrorism
War on Terror After the incident of September 11, 2001, War on Terror became a serious problem.
That attack made huge effects on U.S government and many other countries. Many innocent
people lost their lives because of those terrorists. No one knows if an incident like the one on
September 11 will happen again, but we have to know that we are the primary target . According to
Patrick Coaty s War on Terror, the terrorism
has been developed throughout history. So that people
should know to fight the war on terror, and be prepared from another attack like the one on
September 11, 2001. According to Coaty s War on Terror, terrorism can be divided in three
different levels: individual, state, and international environment. During the French revolution,
terrorism was developed the first time, and some groups of people gathered to clean the evils of
monarchy. They want to overthrow the weak government and establish a new one that can bring
them a better life. After that, terrorism was expanded to the Soviet, and it became the best tool for
them to control people, including their lifestyle and their own privacy. Under the Soviet s control,
terrorism has been developed and spread to many other countries around the world. Meanwhile,
the Stalin s policies were applied to control German by Adolf Hitler. Hitler killed all the people

714). Maintaining your health and mental wellbeing can be beneficial at keeping stress at bay. In
several studies, stress emerged as an important variable with relationships to grade point average
(GPA) and intent to persist along with goal commitment. College students with lower levels of
academic stress and more satisfaction with their academic experiences also manage their time well
(P., Newbold, amp; Mehta, 2011). Maintaining good sleep patterns can help keep students alert
when working on schoolwork. Staying healthy can help with stress management, which in turn, can
help with family life and make things at home easier and less stressful. With less stress at home,
education goals are easier to accomplish.

Mexican And American Family Traditions
On the fourth Thursday of every November, families gather together to spend a day filled with
food and laughter. Thanksgiving celebrates the day the settlers and the Native Americans enjoyed
their first meal together. However, my parents were both raised in Mexico and never had a typical
yearly Thanksgiving celebration. Despite my parents home being Mexico, they started a familyin
America and decided to teach their children about both of the places they come from. A
compromise between American and Mexican traditions formed and served as a family tradition
until last year. A year ago, my family ate a Thanksgiving meal at my sister s parentin laws house.
From the second someone gazes at the table, everything appears different. Although the shape of the
table resembled the long wooden rectangular table my family owns, nothing else contained
similarities. For starters, the red coated,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Earnest By Oscar Wilde
First and foremost, The Importance of Earnest is a comedy of manners as Oscar Wilde s main
premise is to satirise the behaviours of upper class Victorian society, as he knew it. In order to
achieve this he created witty dialogue, ridiculed the institution of marriage and appealed, more, to
the audience s intelligence than their emotions. However, he also creates comedyby installing
farcical features such as mistaken identity, physical humourand an absurd plot.
Through the use of repartee (one of the main features of a Comedy of Manners), between Jack
and Algernon in Act 1, Wilde displays the upper class as hypocritical. When Jack says, My dear
Algy, you talk exactly as if you were a dentist. It is very vulgar to talk like a dentist when one isn
t a dentist. It produces a false impression. He tries to claim that Algernon is being deceitful but
instead, highlights his own hypocrisy, as previously he had been trying to deceive him about
Cecily. By using three consecutive short sentences, a slow and steady pace is created; contrary
to the effect it usually has or is used for. This casual pace is hilarious because it creates an
agreeable tone, when in fact, what he is saying is not of reason. From this, the audience can tell
that Jack is arguing for the sake of arguing, since his words are not of actual substance, which
makes it even funnier seeing that he is constructing an irrelevant link that does not even prove his
point. It highlights how trivial Jack is; perhaps

Data Assemblage And Compilation Process Improves
The seemingly qualitative nature and vague definitions of the targets suggests that the accurate
measurement of the relevant data is challenging. However a rough estimation of all the targets can
easily be made through the many collection or modeling techniques available. Despite these
approximate results, as long as the measurement methods are kept constant, targets such as 7.2
and 7.3 can be assessed. Nonetheless if the data assemblage and compilation process improves,
this progress must be factored into the comparative results. Target 7.1 is less black and white in
nature, and would need a more specific target purpose to be effectively measured. Targets 7.a and
7.b are very qualitative and difficult to measure. They are however... Show more content on

For instance, some regions may be connected to the grid, but quality, reliability, and affordability
may render the utility inaccessible and/or outside of the individuals means CITATION UNE14 l
1033 (UN E, 2014).
Target 7.2 is the easiest of the targets to measure quantitatively. The indicator of concern is
renewable energy consumption, rather than renewable energy capacity. This is because most
renewable energy sources (solar, wind, etc.) have fluctuating production cycles, which lead to
large power losses CITATION UNE14 l 1033 (UN E, 2014). This data is collected by the
International Energy Agency and UN Statistics and prepared into a series of energy balance
reports where the renewable and conventional consumption can be analyzedCITATION IEAEd l
1033 (IEA, 2015 Ed). Currently the IEA reports the renewable share constitutes 15% of the energy
mixCITATION SE4151 l 1033 (SE4ALL(2), 2015). However inability to trace the source of
significant components of the renewable sector (wood/charcoal), does not differentiate between
sustainable production or not.
It is not possible to accurately measure Target 7.3 directly because of the broad range of outputs
involved. Instead, the use of a proxy, energy intensity (EI) makes it possible to model energy
efficiency (EE). EI is measured by the quantity of energy required to produce a monetary unit of
GDP, and is roughly inversely proportional to EE CITATION UNE14 l 1033 (UN E, 2014). This
however is not optimal, and the relationship

Pros And Disadvantages Of Evolution
Serious scientific publications disputing evolution are all but nonexistent. Most claims that deniers
of the evolution manage to come up with are effortlessly refuted with the help of logic and
common sense. Even if their objections are flimsy, the sheer number and diversity of the claims
challenging the ideas of evolution can put even well informed people at a disadvantage. One of the
strongest arguments providing grounds for doubting evolution is so called irreducible complexity
which says that living things have tremendously complex features at the anatomical, cellular and
molecular levels that could not function if they were any less intricate or sophisticated. This
argument may be considered quite strong because even Charles Darwin wrote in chapter 6 of his
famous work On the Origin of Species : If it could be dРµmonstrated that any complex organ
existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications,
my theory would absolutely break down. [5]
Indeed, many people find it difficult to imagine how from two elementary notions random mutation,
and the filtering power of the environment have emerged, over millennia, such marvels as eyes, the
wings of birds and the human brain. According to Michael Behe, researcher of biochemistry and
professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, evolution simply cannot produce complex
structures in a single generation as would be required for the formation of irreducibly complex

China is a fast changing market and it has paid off for Starbucks. The middle class citizens of
mainland China consider Starbucks coffee a luxury. The customers are willing to pay the premium
price just for the customer experience. The success of this strategy is due in part to the in store
training and people development model used in China. This way, Starbucks ensures its brand
positioning is consistent with customers expectancy of having the Starbucks experience that is
provided in the United States.
Starbucks customer intimacy is the value it places on customer satisfaction. Starbucks requires that
all employees be trained for 24 hours prior to entering into full time or part time employment.
Starbucks provides this training to maximize its employee s attentiveness and responsibility,
providing a decrease in a customer s waiting time. Starbucks also is able to introduce popular
products for consumers by closely tracking the needs and wants, decreasing the wait time and
increasing more choices for customers. When a customer frequents a Starbucks establishment
regular, loyalty is shown and Starbucks is hoping this will increase and attract new customers.
Starbucks Coffee is showing product leadership by introducing new products in its coffee shops
and now retail stores around the country. Partnering with the PepsiCo brand for Frappucino drinks
and selling instant coffee in retails store such as Wal Mart and

Red Scare And The Crucible Comparison Essay
The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials were both events that left a mark in American history.
The Red Scare began in 1917 and took place across the United States. The Red Scare was known
as the widespread promotion of anti communism. The Salem Witch Trials began in 1692 and took
place in Salem, Massachusetts. The SalemWitch Trials were various court hearings and
prosecutions of people in Salem accused of Witchcraft. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, a play
about The Salem Witch Trials, to send a message to Senator Joseph McCarthy, the face of The Red
Scare. Even though both of these events took place at completely different times their connection
remains profound. The Crucible and The Red Scare have various similarities and allegories... Show

The hysteria of the public lead to lists being revealed during these events. Senator Joseph
McCarthy kept a list of people who were named by the secretary of state as both communist and
government members.(Brinkley2). There was also another list revealed during The Red Scare
by The HUAC that lead to the trials of the Hollywood Ten. The Hollywood Ten were a group of
ten screenwriters charged with communist leanings.(Brinkley3) A list was also created during
The Salem Witch trials. The list during The Salem Witch Trials was a petition of 91 names of
innocent people who were being accused of witchcraft. Another similarity between both of these
events is that if someone were to not confess they would punished. During The Red Scare not
confessing lead the being placed on the Black List. The Black List effected people s life s
forever by preventing them from having a career. (History)In The Salem Witch Trials when
people would not confess, they would be hung. People were often upset because there was no
proof of people doing such acts. During The Red Scare the only proof Joseph McCarthy could
provide was the list of the accused communist and government members. During The Salem Witch
Trials the only proof they had were a group of girls who were accused of witchcraft. It was later
revealed that those girls lied about the spirit they saw.

Journal Of A Hero s Journey Essay
12 March 1956 Upon unmooring from the port of Gibraltar we had, until the 20th of March,
foreboding skies and a strong headwind. During this unfavourable weather, all available hands
were employed in securing goods. The security of each individual lashing is checked physically to
confirm the proper securing of the cargoes. By 0700, 13th March 1956, we had voyaged over 30
leagues and reached the western point of the Tyrrhenian sea. Later, around 1200 weather conditions
began to deteriorate. Around 1300, weather conditions become arduous and the captain begins
assisting the 4th officer in the navigation of the ship. Accordingly, the ship s heading is changed to
face the predominant wind in order to minimize the rolling of the ship. Near... Show more content

which roamed the island. The first boy whom is named Ralph has isolated himself from the
others and refuses to associate with them. He is particularly apprehensive when in the presence
of a second boy named Jack. The other boys appear distraught, but are slowly adjusting to ship
life. Finally the captain sent a message notifying the EGCI of the newfound children, we are
instructed to proceed with the predestined route to Ghawdex. Following the previous instructions
given by the EGCI, at 0500 on 24th March 1956, we moored the ship in the port of Ghawdex.
Upon arrival a psychologist attended the ship in order to give psychical support as needed, after

Ticketmaster though has the solid relationship built with the client and works differently as they
only work to sell tickets at the pre determined price set by the client they work for. Stubhub is
different in that they are a niche ticket market for consumers seeking tickets to events only. Ebay
in fact purchased Stubhub as to acquire market share in this sector. Stubhub also provides
consumers the option to buy directly from each other but this is the only specialty service they
provide. They are the industry leader in the type of ticket sales. Stubhub has been very
innovative in providing some specialized services such as VIP packages. They also split the
commission cost with the buyer and seller. So although the price of the ticket is the same, the
seller retains more of the revenue from the sale of the ticket. This obviously entices sellers to use
Stubhub. They also have partnered with Fedex to be able to guarantee delivery of the tickets to the
buyer. This eliminates some of the potential problems of buying and selling tickets through such a
service as Stubhub. Tickets are guaranteed for both the buyer and seller from Stubhub. Internal
Analysis When we reviewed Ticketmaster internally, we looked at the firm value chain, the core
competencies that exist, Ticketmaster s technology, and the social and legal challenges that may
exist. The firm s value chain and core competencies are its paper tickets, etickets, and their box
office

  • 2. The Problem Of The Infant Thinking about these events, I developed the following theory on what could have occurred that evening: At least one adult Bigfoot brought the infant to my house, creating a diversion by scratching on the front door. Then, with our attention on the front of the house, they crept around to the back of the house. The adult lifted the infant over the rail, then set it down on the deck. The infant was too small to reach the carpet without taking one step, in the snow, on the deck, thus leaving a footprint. It then made its way around the glass table, walking on the carpet, which had very little snow on it. The infant opened the dog foot tub, consuming the dog food. The parent then went around to the other side of the deck, reaching over the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next morning, I went out before daylight to check the ash for footprints. To my shock and surprise, it had worked!! In the ash, on the front left corner of my house, was a very clear footprint! Retrieving my video camera, I began to take video in the low light conditions due to inclement weather forecast to move in later that morning. The ash had also stuck to the bottom of the Bigfoot s foot, this a positive print of the foot in the grass. It appeared from the direction of the prints, the Bigfoot s destination back of the house, possibly to go over the four foot dog fence into the backyard. The track was fifteen inches long, with the ball of the foot five and a half inches wide, the heel of the footprint was four inches wide. Unfortunately, this was an isolated event. The Bigfoot learn quickly, and though I continued to put the fireplace ash out when the weather would cooperate, the Bigfoot avoided stepping into the ash. We would continue to allow the Bigfoot to eat our dog food as the winter wore on. We did this because, we did not know how the Bigfoot would react if we abruptly removed their food source. In February of 2011, the Bigfoot began to develop a pattern of visiting approximately once every ten days. The scratching on the door stopped and the dog food was taken less often. In early March of 2011, my wife threw out about a dozen overripe clementines. She threw them into the dog lot where the motion sensor flood light was located. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Joyce Mri As A Cultural Icon Summary Joyce approaches MRI as a Cultural Icon. As a cultural icon, the MRI symbolizes both the progress of medicine as well as a powerful technology to reveal details about one s medical condition. Joyce proposes that the MRI is not only a icon which is entwined in our life but is also a great illustration of many cultural movements. The chapter starts with the a story to demonstrate how a person s life may revolve around the MRI. Getting an MRI is like opening the box of Schrodinger s cat. Without an MRI you can neither confirm nor deny the existence of a problem. But after the MRI you have visual proof of the problem. Joyce focuses on how this visual proof and confirmation has multiple cultural implications. Most of the points she raises relate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found this very interesting as It connects to the idea of Trust, but verify , a Russian phrase commonly used by Reagan during talks with Russia. When we have a cancer or sickness the stakes are high and so are the emotions. Denial of a condition can easily be refuted with proof that the patient can understand. Although MRI s are great at helping doctors, patients also benefit from seeing visual proof of a condition. Joyce writes about our growing trend towards visualization and how everyone is accustomed to cameras and computers. Even in the operating room visual technology is used as both surveillance and an aid. In addition to helping doctor, Joyce also brings up the point on how an MRI illuminates a doctor s fear of litigation. Lawsuits are common to medical practices and the fear of litigation is always present. The cultural trend of scepticism and the need to cover your ass makes the use of MRIs much more common. With an image, a doctor could argue how their interpretation was right or wrong and it is easier than explaining what he/she observed. She also briefly brought up a point on how MRIs can symbolize inequality as getting a MRI shows that you have access to the best of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mass media has a strong liaison and this strong interpersonal relationship with different sources of information results in an unveiling of health and social care related information to the public. Common people are completely influenced by the information provided by the sources. As the sources of information has been introduced in the previous section, it is state worthy that social and health care information has changed the attitudes, thoughts, and behavior of common people. Mass media along with social media make people much more aware about their health and safety issues (Godden, 2014). For example: Before the invention of Facebook, any movement that had to be taken place faced great difficulty. But as Facebook grows and other mass media are getting concerned about the rights of them from the society, any nonviolent movement is taking place without such effort than previously had done (Mcclimens, et al, 2012). People are conscious about various contagious diseases and much more aware about their contribution to the society. They are also focused on their rights from the society. Their contribution to the society and the benefits they are deriving from the society are summed to take them to a balancing position or situation (AJOL, 2014). • 5. Social Norms Within Our Society Social norms are behaviors that are expected within our society. When we see these norms out in public we might not acknowledge them because we re expected to know how to act in different places or situations. When these norms are violated people may be confused of the situation and can become confused, annoyed, or mad. Social norms are a part of our everyday lives since before we were born there were norms laid out for us already, from the way we re supposed to behave, dress, and even talk. Norms have high value in our society they are the standards by which people define what is desirable or undesirable, good or bad beautiful or ugly . There re what we expect in our society from our behavior at school, in public, or school. Each place has a certain norm we as a society should know when and how to follow. As a guest at someone s house, whether it s at a families, friends, or strangers the norm has always been the same. We have to show respect to the owners and their property, be polite, and show good manners while there. So for my own personal norm violation I decided to break the guest at someone s house norm. This was taken place at one of my mother s close friends house who had invited us over for dinner an afternoon, I had been thinking for a while on what norm to break and how. None of my family knew what I had plan to do that afternoon, so it was going to surprise them also. As a Mexican family my parents raised my siblings and I to always show respect towards ... • 7. The Feminine Mystique By Betty Friedan For centuries, writing has been one of the strongest forms of communication. Whether a person is a reader or writer, both roles are equally important in this communication process. Why does an author write a book? What message does he or she want to convey? Why does a person pick up a book to read? How do they choose which topic to write about, which book to take off the shelf? Is it random? Or is it because the book holds a certain appeal or relevance to their lives? Every reader has a different answer for this question. The beauty of this is that each person, even if reading the same book, leaves the final page with a different message; even more inspiring is that sometimes this message is not even what the writer wanted to convey. The Feminine Mystique, a book written by Betty Friedan, was a book used to put into words the dejection women faced while living their daily lives. She explained how many women were unhappy with their lives because they felt they had no real purpose, they resented that it was assumed their only role could be that of wife, mother, and caretaker. She coined it the problem with no name because although many women experienced this resentment, none were ever able to label it. This book hit home with many of the readers. However, the book had many critics. Many people believed Friedan exaggerated some of her depictions. They believe she generalized too much, leaving out of her book the fact that there were many women who were self sufficient and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition all four of them were happy that they found people who had went through struggles like them, because all of them felt as if it was only them that went through this alone and it was nice to know they were not alone. • 9. The Myths of Vietnam Essay Contending versions of the Vietnam War and the antiwar movement began to develop even before the war ended. The hawks version, then and now, holds that the war was winnable, but the press, micromanaging civilian game theorists in the Pentagon, and antiwar hippies lost it. . . . The doves version, contrarily, remains that the war was unwise and unwinnable no matter what strategy was employed or how much firepower was used. . . Both of these versions of the war and the antiwar movement as they have come down to us are better termed mythsthan versions of history because they function less as explanations of reality than as new justifications of old positionsand the emotional investments that attended them (Garfinkle, 7). Bill Clinton s attempts to avoid military service and whether those attempts were justified. Comparisons between Gulf War Syndrome and Agent Orange related health problems among veterans. Continuing questions about whether N.A.T.O. involvement in the former Yugoslavia could become another Vietnam. While the controversy over the war has often been reduced to simplistic pro war or anti war arguments as illustrated in the opening quotation, a more nuanced reading of post war literature shows many more areas of controversy. All of these controversies cross over from hawks to doves and back again. Much of the post war controversy over Vietnam can be summarized in four myths . The first myth is that the micormanaging civilians in Washington lost an otherwise winnable conflict. A second myth deals with the degree to which the radical, countercultural anti war movement forced President Nixon to end the war. A third is the Rambo myth which claims that American prisoners of war were kept in captivity in Southeast Asia after the cessation of American military involvement and may still have been imprisoned into the 1990s. And lastly, we will examine the myth that the US government would never knowingly harm its soldiers. These four myths have been examined in numerous books published since the end of the ... For some it may be a simple and easy answer consisting of just living your life to the fullest extent. Others look at it more theoretically and want to narrow it down to a definition. The American Dream as they call it was first conceived when the founding fathers of America wrote the Declaration of Independence in the 1700 s. IT was later made into an actual phrase in 1931 when James Truslow Adams, author of the book Epic of America , coined the phrase in this same book, which detailed his version of the American dreamvery explicitly. Unfortunately some science incompletely follows protocol or leaves out entire parts of the process. These studies are considered pseudoscience. Brian Dunning wrote an article in 2007 called How to Spot Pseudoscience. This article gives 15 telltale signs to spotting a pseudoscience. In the article Carol Dweck Revisits the Growth Mindset article (Dweck, 2015), the authors posit that a Growth Mindset is the key to growing one s brain. This theoryexplains that through increased effort one can achieve feats of formerly impossible measures. Dunning s article is a useful guide in showing that the Growth Mindset is a pseudoscience. Some reasons include the idea that if something sounds too good to be true it probably is, the claim lacks the requirements of a theory and it also fails to pass the Occam Razor test. There is a saying that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This applies to claims made under the guise of science as well. • 15. Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, by... Wallace Stevens is not an easy poet to understand. His work is purposely twisted and tangled so one is forced to thing whether they want to or not. Stevens poetry ranges from real life situations to situations which are simply a depiction of his imagination. One thing can be concluded though, Stevens does not allow his work to have a single meaning. Why should he? This is the upmost quality that makes his stand out from his competitors in the poetic industry. An interesting theme though which Wallace truly enjoys writing about, in all seriousness, is something thought provoking perception. The book definition of perception is appending [something] by the means of senses or the mind. In his poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where one can see the new role the blackbird is playing. A new perception of the bird. It is now part of one s conscious. It does not have an on or off button that any human can control just like a river...moving (Stevens 48). A new theme is suggested in this part which makes its way up to the top a couple more times in the work. It is choices. It this specific case it is clear that the individuals the speaker is referring to do not have a choice but to acknowledge the bird. In the fifth part on the other hand, once again a new idea is presented and this is not the case. Here the bird becomes an objectified beauty but this doesn t last long because as the sixth part approaches, the readers once again return to the winter time filled with icicles (Stevens 17 19). A circular pattern can now be seen with the seasons. Another hint of a continuous process occurring the process of perception. In the seventh stanza the speaker calls up the thin men of Haddam (a city in Connecticut) and asks about the golden birds (Stevens 25 26). He goes on to say that the Blackbird walks around the feet of the women about [them] (Stevens 28 29). What could he possibly mean? According to Theriault there is a Turkish and an Armenian view of the history and each are extreme with either of them being more valid than the other. Theriault goes on to talk about the Turkish Armenian Reconciliation Committee (TARC) and how it was an ill fated initiative based on the idea that resolution of the tension between Armeniansand Turks could be accomplished through a negotiated settlement of the various issues each side perceived as important, including the history of 1915. These tactics were used so that the Turkish government would seem like they were trying to aid in the Armenian cause, although, nothing had come of this show for the public audience. Scholars that deny the genocide claim Armenians are victims resulting in a negative relationship with the Turks today. This claim by denial scholars perpetuates the Anti Armenian sentiment shared by the leadership of Turkey and enables the domination relationship they have with Armenians. When the French National Assembly declared it a crime to deny the mass killings of Armenians, Turkish leaders and their supporters began a new form of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chaneil Hall Professor Edmondson Independent Study: The Impact of Rastafari May 13, 2015 Reggae as a Means of Social Transformation Through The Voices of the Rastafari Jamaica, the third largest Caribbean island is not only home to tropical weather and picturesque landscapes, but also to social unrest and perhaps some of the most rebellious people. Since its existence, this nation has seen a series of revolutions and riots in efforts to reverse the unjust social, economic, and political conditions. The most influential of these revolutionary efforts contributed to the formation of Jamaica s very own religious movement, Rastafarianism. With oppression serving as one of the driving forces for the Rastafari Movement, it is understandable why its followers are so adamant about professing their ideologies, beliefs and practices. The central language used to express the grievances of Rastafarians is known globally as the music genre, Reggae. It is not merely coincidental that the country pregnant with such radical motives also gave birth to its own music brand. By examining the music of artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Luciano and more, we can deduce that Reggae music served and continues to serve as the most prominent vehicle for the spread of Rastafarianism. The Rastafari Movement emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s out of desires to defeat the crippling British colonial culture and to establish an identity based on the reclamation of African heritage. In countless stories, it is almost automatically quite easy to distinguish the characteristics between the hero and the villain. This is not the case in Mary Shelly s novel Frankenstein. In the novel, we meet Victor Frankensteinand his science experiment gone rogue, the Creature. At first glance into the novel, many people would debate that the Creature is, in fact, the villain because he had maliciously murdered Victor Frankenstein s family and closest friends. Of course anyone with a properly functioning brain would say that the Creature is the bad guy but what some people do not take into consideration is the Creature s background,... No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should deserve theirs (Shelly 4.8). Frankenstein becomes obsessed with science because it helped him cope with the death of his mother, Caroline, and it is also his breaking point. His emotions mistakenly lead him to believe that he can have control over the destinies of people s lives if only he knew how. This is where his obsession develops. Nor could I consider the magnitude and complexity of my plan as any argument of its impracticability. It was with these feelings that I began the creation of a human being. (Shelly 4.7). Frankenstein does not take into consideration about the consequences he may face before he creates the Creature. When Frankenstein beings to understand the factors to what makes life possible, he uses science in trying to become God and tries to control these factors. • 21. The Issue of Transnational Aid Intervention The issue of transnational aid intervention has become a worldwide topic for debate regarding its role in ethics and legitimacy in international relations. Historically, international aid had been provided by developed worlds governments. However, aid provided by the developed world became problematic because of international treaties, violation of state sovereignty, and the spread of capitalist enterprises (Willetts). In addition to, many of the developing world leaders, consider the concept of aid intervention to be potentially threatening and an excuse for more powerful nations to undermine and threaten their state sovereignty through a change in the nations economic and social discourses (Willetts). In an attempt to counterbalance this predicament, institutions known as Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) were formed to emphasize humanitarian issues, developmental aid and sustainable development (Willetts). An NGO is defined as a citizen based association that operates independently of government, usually to deliver resources or serve some social or political purpose (Willetts 1). Currently, NGOs play a crucial role in providing mechanisms which enhance global human progress. Helps the Middle Class to Rise The Hundred Years War was a conflict between England and France that lasted (with some interruptions) from 1337 to 1453 ( The Hundred ). Although the war caused many significant changes in both England and France, one of the most interesting ones was its contribution to the end of feudalism and the development of a true middle class in England. The Hundred Years War helped the middle class to rise by reducing the number of available workers in the population, exposing ordinary soldiers to the crossbow, and assisting in the formation of overseas trade partnerships. One of the most obvious ways that the Hundred Years War helped the Middle Class to rise was that it did away with surplus workers. Although it is impossible to calculate exactly how many people were killed during the war, during the years of the most intense fighting as many as 200,000 men a year may have been killed (Blackmon 225). It required no special training. It could also be aimed precisely enough to shoot through the gaps in armor, and some crank crossbows could even shoot through thin armor (Crossbow Historical Society). English soldiers took these weapons home, probably as spoils of war. Whitlock s article states that an extreme amount of alcohol consumption is one of the leading causes of sexual harassment cases, but there is no specificity on whether the cases are against men or women. Sexual harassment has often been focused more on women being victims, but men can be victims of such crimes as well. That is why the military has implemented a variety of methods into the regular military training regarding sexual harassment and the repercussions of such actions. On another note, there are studies that show women are more organized, creative thinkers and have better social sensitivity skills than men (Haring). Haring s work explains that women are better at reading people s emotions, therefore using that intel to make more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1983, a state environmental agency, responding to a citizen s report, tested soil samples from both properties and discovered extremely high levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) on the plant site and on the Reardons property where it bordered the site. Shortly thereafter, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cleaned up the contaminated areas. In 1985, the EPA notified the Reardons that they might be liable for clean up costs. The purpose of CERCLA would not be eviscerated if the EPA is forced to litigate each detail of its removal and remedial plans before implementing them. The EPA could still implement removal and remedial plans with the landowners compliance so that the hazardous waste could be properly taken care of. The responsibility for the cleanup should be on the land owners and not the taxpayers, but a new process needs to be established. For example, it would be great if the EPA and the landowner worked together to pursue a cleanup strategy, whereby the landowner would be able to pick the way it will be performed to keep the costs as low as possible with the EPA approving the type of clean up that needs to be performed to ensure that it will be performed adequately so that all of the hazardous waste will be removed efficiently. The CERCLA was created to respond to the growing concerns of hazardous substance in an attempt to regulate and to provide long term solutions to hazardous waste problems. To do this, the CERCLA has a fund set aside to conduct emergency clean up activities and hold landowners responsible for paying for the clean up. I believe that the EPA s role to litigate details of the clean up activities would only help to complete and correct these efforts. The 1980 law requires the parties responsible for the contamination to conduct or pay for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. War On Terror And Terrorism War on Terror After the incident of September 11, 2001, War on Terror became a serious problem. That attack made huge effects on U.S government and many other countries. Many innocent people lost their lives because of those terrorists. No one knows if an incident like the one on September 11 will happen again, but we have to know that we are the primary target . According to Patrick Coaty s War on Terror, the terrorism has been developed throughout history. So that people should know to fight the war on terror, and be prepared from another attack like the one on September 11, 2001. According to Coaty s War on Terror, terrorism can be divided in three different levels: individual, state, and international environment. During the French revolution, terrorism was developed the first time, and some groups of people gathered to clean the evils of monarchy. They want to overthrow the weak government and establish a new one that can bring them a better life. After that, terrorism was expanded to the Soviet, and it became the best tool for them to control people, including their lifestyle and their own privacy. Under the Soviet s control, terrorism has been developed and spread to many other countries around the world. Meanwhile, the Stalin s policies were applied to control German by Adolf Hitler. The power of time management skills as a predictor of Personal Success suggests its importance in the wider domain of life success (George, Stansal, Gelb, amp; Pheri, 2008). Maintaining a good balance between work, family, and school, is crucial in one s ongoing career as a full time student. Physical and mental health are very important in maintaining a positive and forward thinking outlook. As noted by George, Stansal, Gelb, and Pheri (2008), health related variables (healthy diet, quality of overall health) played a surprisingly powerful role as predictors of success (pg. 714). Maintaining your health and mental wellbeing can be beneficial at keeping stress at bay. In several studies, stress emerged as an important variable with relationships to grade point average (GPA) and intent to persist along with goal commitment. College students with lower levels of academic stress and more satisfaction with their academic experiences also manage their time well (P., Newbold, amp; Mehta, 2011). Maintaining good sleep patterns can help keep students alert when working on schoolwork. Staying healthy can help with stress management, which in turn, can help with family life and make things at home easier and less stressful. • 41. The Importance Of Earnest By Oscar Wilde First and foremost, The Importance of Earnest is a comedy of manners as Oscar Wilde s main premise is to satirise the behaviours of upper class Victorian society, as he knew it. In order to achieve this he created witty dialogue, ridiculed the institution of marriage and appealed, more, to the audience s intelligence than their emotions. However, he also creates comedyby installing farcical features such as mistaken identity, physical humourand an absurd plot. Through the use of repartee (one of the main features of a Comedy of Manners), between Jack and Algernon in Act 1, Wilde displays the upper class as hypocritical. When Jack says, My dear Algy, you talk exactly as if you were a dentist. It is very vulgar to talk like a dentist when one isn t a dentist. It produces a false impression. He tries to claim that Algernon is being deceitful but instead, highlights his own hypocrisy, as previously he had been trying to deceive him about Cecily. By using three consecutive short sentences, a slow and steady pace is created; contrary to the effect it usually has or is used for. This casual pace is hilarious because it creates an agreeable tone, when in fact, what he is saying is not of reason. From this, the audience can tell that Jack is arguing for the sake of arguing, since his words are not of actual substance, which makes it even funnier seeing that he is constructing an irrelevant link that does not even prove his point. It highlights how trivial Jack is; perhaps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Data Assemblage And Compilation Process Improves The seemingly qualitative nature and vague definitions of the targets suggests that the accurate measurement of the relevant data is challenging. However a rough estimation of all the targets can easily be made through the many collection or modeling techniques available. Despite these approximate results, as long as the measurement methods are kept constant, targets such as 7.2 and 7.3 can be assessed. Nonetheless if the data assemblage and compilation process improves, this progress must be factored into the comparative results. Target 7.1 is less black and white in nature, and would need a more specific target purpose to be effectively measured. Targets 7.a and 7.b are very qualitative and difficult to measure. Target 7.2 is the easiest of the targets to measure quantitatively. The indicator of concern is renewable energy consumption, rather than renewable energy capacity. This is because most renewable energy sources (solar, wind, etc.) have fluctuating production cycles, which lead to large power losses CITATION UNE14 l 1033 (UN E, 2014). This data is collected by the International Energy Agency and UN Statistics and prepared into a series of energy balance reports where the renewable and conventional consumption can be analyzedCITATION IEAEd l 1033 (IEA, 2015 Ed). Currently the IEA reports the renewable share constitutes 15% of the energy mixCITATION SE4151 l 1033 (SE4ALL(2), 2015). However inability to trace the source of significant components of the renewable sector (wood/charcoal), does not differentiate between sustainable production or not. It is not possible to accurately measure Target 7.3 directly because of the broad range of outputs involved. Instead, the use of a proxy, energy intensity (EI) makes it possible to model energy efficiency (EE). EI is measured by the quantity of energy required to produce a monetary unit of GDP, and is roughly inversely proportional to EE CITATION UNE14 l 1033 (UN E, 2014). • 43. Pros And Disadvantages Of Evolution Serious scientific publications disputing evolution are all but nonexistent. Most claims that deniers of the evolution manage to come up with are effortlessly refuted with the help of logic and common sense. Even if their objections are flimsy, the sheer number and diversity of the claims challenging the ideas of evolution can put even well informed people at a disadvantage. One of the strongest arguments providing grounds for doubting evolution is so called irreducible complexity which says that living things have tremendously complex features at the anatomical, cellular and molecular levels that could not function if they were any less intricate or sophisticated. This argument may be considered quite strong because even Charles Darwin wrote in chapter 6 of his famous work On the Origin of Species : If it could be dРµmonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. [5] Indeed, many people find it difficult to imagine how from two elementary notions random mutation, and the filtering power of the environment have emerged, over millennia, such marvels as eyes, the wings of birds and the human brain. According to Michael Behe, researcher of biochemistry and professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, evolution simply cannot produce complex structures in a single generation as would be required for the formation of irreducibly complex ...
