Human Resources. A sweet and sour contribution to the agile journey in big organizations
HR is usually the owner of processes and tools related to people and their growth: these tools should not just align with the agile transformation but act as enabler for it. Easier said than done.
Both in big and small companies, we’ve seen different scenarios: from cases where HR was not directly involved in the transformation (and chasing afterwards what was happening) to cases where it is leading the change, but sometimes struggles to challenge its own status quo. The impact is big, both in positive and negative terms.
Which practices can HR adopt and promote to become an effective agent of change during an Agile transformation?

Buiilding and Supporting a Collaborative WorkplaceRobin Schooling
Collaboration is not only powerful but also necessary for the survival and growth of an organization. We can tap into the power of technology to encourage and optimize this very basic human interaction, but true impact is realized when we focus on attitude and behaviors and harness the collective wisdom within our organizations whether guiding the company through change and transformation, managing innovation, or focus on maintaining a culture of inclusion and teamwork. Collaboration, when done effectively and with purpose, can ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic plan and HR’s role (programs, policies and deliverables) is a critical component. In this session we reference research from the following sources:
• Collaboration: How Leaders Avoid the Traps, Build Common Ground, and Reap Big Results, Morten Hansen
• The Culture of Collaboration, Evan Rosen
• The Execution Trap, Roger L. Martin (Harvard Business Review)
• Eight Ways to Build Collaborative Teams, Lynda Gratton and Tamara J. Erickson (Harvard Business Review)
• Leadership Conversations: Challenging High-Potential Managers to Become Great Leaders, Alan S. Berson/Richard G. Stieglitz
We explore the skills and practices required to lead collaborative efforts in order to drive business results by discussing (1) the 3 types of collaboration (2) the importance of organizational culture – and how it can derail your efforts (3) the role of leaders (4) effective ways to build active and effective cross-functional collaboration.

How can a team be designed, and how its way of work should be designed in order to match the team's purpose with the company goals and the willingness of the people who are part of it? What about the life cycle of the experience of being a digital team and the way we could measure its effectiveness? High-Impact HR: Building a Business-Driven HR OrganizationJosh Bersin
This presentation summarizes some of Bersin by Deloitte's latest High-Impact HR research, focused on helping organizations restructure and redesign their HR organization (and the team) in a new way. Our research shows that a new model is needed - one led by specialization, business-oriented HR leaders embedded in the business, and what we call "networks of expertise" to replace the "centers of expertise" typically considered. All this, combined with self-service technology and easy to use service delivery focuses on empowering HR to be "management focused," leverage data, and support the business in new ways.
New skills and capabilities of HR are briefly included.
The new workplace is collaborative, social and fast moving. Traditional approaches to performance management don't work in this new world of work. Yet skills, ongoing development and a purpose are needed now more than ever.
This Slideshare looks at why Agile Performance Management is needed, how we got here and how it works.

Careers in the 21st Century (Webinar by Fuel50 and Bersin by Deloitte)Fuel50
There is no one right way to approach career management. Strategies for moving workers into, around, and even out of the organization have changed drastically in the past ten years and largely depend on the goals of both the worker and the company.
However, companies with effective career management initiatives have some similarities. They tend to approach career management holistically – considering more than just role descriptions and career paths – and they focus heavily on alignment with organizational goals and needs.

In recent years there has been no love lost for HR with articles like "Why I hate HR", "It's time to spilt HR", "Why we love to hate HR.." and many others. While most of these articles have been vocal about a complete overhaul of the HR function, it also leaves an underlying message of the capability level of the HR folks themselves.
HR teams have been undertaking transformation initiatives for years to not only build core competencies but also increase their credibility as strategic business partners for their organisations and shake itself out of the image of being a 'mere cost centre'. How can HR continue to build its competencies and manage the transformation process amidst the current environment?
Join Jayesh Menon in this insightful session as he covers:
- The evolving HR competencies and the need to transform HR continuously
- How capability building in HR starts with the leader and what they can do about it
- Research and case studies on HR transformational journey
- Tips and best practices on breaking barriers and managing change during the transformation

Culture Mapping in Digital TransformationRawn Shah
Our understanding of the concept of Culture at work is expanding beyond simpler notions like organizationals values and culture. We have long seen culture as the creator of new value, purpose and meaning to why we work in firms altogether. This delivers beyond what we gain from transactional processes. So if you are seeking ROI out of reengineering your processes and transactions to incorporate enterprise social network interactions, then what you are looking for is dedication, loyalty, drive. This is what can make Digital transformation more than the sum of its parts. This sociographic look at digital transformation shares some of the old and the new ways how we can examine and even measure culture to discover and drive new business value.
