Thermal Performance of Diffusion Bonded Compact Heat Exchangers using Al2O3 W...ijtsrd
The value of compact heat exchangers CHEs has been recognised in aerospace, automotive, gas turbine power station, and other industries for the last 50 years or more. This is attributed to many reasons, for example manufacturing restrictions, often high efficiency requirements, low cost, and the use of air or gas as one of the fluids in the exchanger. Together with new and improved forms of CHEs, these advances are an excellent opportunity to bring compact heat exchangers into the process industry, particularly where saving energy is an essential target. High energy prices are also encouraging companies to use energy saving strategies at their plants as much as possible. During decades, attempts to increase heat transfer, decrease heat transfer times and eventually improve energy efficiency have been made. Recent advancements in nanotechnology have facilitated the creation of a new type of liquids called nanofluids. Most theoretical and computational experiments have shown that nanofluids demonstrate an improved coefficient of heat transfer relative to their base fluid. This CFD research explores the impact on the performance of straight square compact heat exchangers from Al2O3 water nanofluid flow. The Al2O3 water nanofluids with three weight fractions of nanoparticles i.e. 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 percent were used. The effect of nanofluid were measured and observed to influence the heat transfer and flow of fluids in a straight square compact heat exchanger. The following conclusions can be drawn based on the provided results, the thermal conductance are approximately 29 higher and the heat transfer are approximately 35 higher in comparison with the conventional fluid i.e. water. NUMERICAL ANALYSIS TO OPTIMIZE THE HEAT TRANSFER RATE OF TUBE-IN-TUBE HELICAL...Netha Jashuva
Heat exchanger is a device which is used to transfer heat between two fluids which may be in direct contact or may flow separately in two tubes or channels. We find numerous applications of heat exchangers in day today life. For example condensers and evaporators used in refrigerators and air conditioners. In thermal power plant heat exchangers are used in boilers, condensers, air coolers and chilling towers etc. Similarly the heat exchangers used in automobile industries are in the form of radiators and oil coolers in engines. Heat exchangers are also used in large scale in chemical and process industries for transferring the heat between two fluids which are at a single or two states. Main aim of our project is to maximize the heat transfer rate with minimum power loss. We know that with increase in Reynolds number Nusselt number increases hence the heat transfer coefficient. But with increase in Reynolds number pumping power also increases but increase in power requirement is more compared to increases in heat transfer coefficient. So there exist a particular Reynolds number or (Dean Number) for which both the curve intersects, which is the optimum point for that particular (D/d) condition.

Abstract Heat sinks are commonly used for cooling of electronic devices. Heat sinks, an array of heat fins, remove the heat from the surfaces of the chips by enhancing the heat Transfer rate through heat conduction process. Heat can also be removed from the chip surfaces through forced convection heat transfer. In this project work, CFD and conjugate heat transfer analysis is carried out for various fin geometries with Zigzag, Fluted, Slanted mirror, Custom pin fin and staggered array configurations for low thermal resistance and minimum pressure drop. Numerical simulations are carried out for each of the above mentioned fin geometries with common base plate thickness of 2 mm, fin height of 28 mm and fin thickness of 1 mm for three different heat loads namely 50 W, 75 W and 100 W with air flow of 3.933 m/s (15 ft3/min or 15 CFM) and air inlet temperature of 25oC. The results are compared for thermal performance of a heat sink for each of above geometries and it is observe that the fin with Slanted Mirror geometry gives the best performance among all the other geometries for minimum Pressure drop. The average heat transfer coefficients for fins with slanted mirror geometry, zig zag configuration, fluted type, custom pin fin and staggered array are found to be 215 W/m2K, 164 W/m2K, 164 W/m2K, 157 W/m2K and 145 W/m2K respectively Keywords: Fin geometries of Heat sinks, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Conjugate heat transfer.
Enhancement of heat transfer in tube in-tube heat exchangers using twisted in...Ijrdt Journal
Heat exchangers have several industrial and engineering applications. There are different methods to enhance heat transfer in heat exchangers. Passive technique of heat transfer is the most economical and best suited one. The role of inserts in internal forced convection has been widely acknowledged as a passive device in the heat transfer enhancement. One of such technique is introduction of twisted inserts which enhances the heat transfer coefficient. Twisted aluminium inserts when placed in the path of the fluid flow, creates a high degree of turbulence resulting in an increase in the heat transfer rate. By placing inserts, it is expected that the benefits due to the increased heat transfer coefficient overcome the higher cost involved because of the increased frictional losses. The work mainly focuses on increasing the heat transfer of tube-in-tube heat exchangers by using twisted aluminium inserts. The results obtained from the tube with twisted aluminium insert are compared with those without twisted insert using standard properties of heat transfer (LMTD & Effectiveness). The relations based on the data gathered during this work for predicting the heat transfer coefficient of the horizontal pipe with twisted taped insert are proposed. According to the results, in order to obtain maximum heat transfer, the twist ratio must be at the lowest level.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
