2. Angus Smith – Main Actor
Angus Smith is the main actor of my music video. He will be the focus of my
music video. He will also represent the main artist Jeremy Loops, who often
is an actor in his own videos. What is more, this actor is very reliable so I
know he will be there when needed. What is more, I have worked with him
on numerous occasions so I know his limits and his abilities.
Due to the style of the song, I need him to play the actor very seriously, and
the beginning scene needs to be played well, in order to portray the
serious/emotionless character I want to achieve.
His face is very filmable, as it doesn’t have any distinct feature which would
distract the viewer from the performance. His natural persona is very
similar to that of the artist, he has the same interests and views which
would allow him the act the role just how is needed.
3. Props – Acoustic Guitar
An acoustic guitar is the main instrument for this music video, as it
is very conventional to use for the folk genre. It will be used within
the car scene and the performance sections to portray the genre
and style of the artist.
What is more, it will also be used on shots from inside the guitar,
focussing on the strings to create a very abstract shot. This could
also be used for the CD cover and poster etc.
The guitar is a stereotypical object used in folk rock music, so it is
necessary to have one in this video. Furthermore, the guitar will
act as an object which separates the narrative from the
performance.
4. Props – Garden Chair
A garden chair will be used for the begging and final
scenes. This prop will need to be kept constant, and the
position of it will need to also stay the same in order to
create the correct feel.
The chair will need to look as if it has come from a care
home as then it will help the audience to understand the
situation the actor is in.
A care home chair is often just a common plastic chair, this
could be used as it is very simplistic, and would not take
the attention away from the actor.
I am able to easily access such a chair due it being quite
common, which means yet again, it doesn’t matter when I
need to film and the prop is available whenever needed.
5. Props – Car
A car will be used in the music video for a scene. This will
be a blue Vauxhall Corsa as it is the easiest car to get a hold
of, what is more, the type of car should not be flashy or
stand out as it is meant to be owned by this character, who
is not by any means rich.
The shots of the car will be minimal, so it is not necessary
to be using an expensive car for such a short time period.
The car can be used at any time (as I own it) so it is not
necessary to schedule a set time that the car can be used.
This car is my own personal car, so I don’t mind it being
used for filming, what is more as it is quite old I don’t mind
if it gets scratched etc. As I own the car, I am insured to
drive it, so I can become a stunt double for the actor who is
not insured to drive my car.
6. Props – Photograph
I am using a photograph as prop within the
graveyard scene, showing a picture of the girl
that the actor is in love with. A chose to use a
photograph instead of a phone for example as
it is more traditional, and shows that the
character really cares for this girl, as he keeps
this constant reminder on him all the time.
7. Props - Horse
One of my scenes will include a horse in the shot. The are
for B-line shots and can be used as part of the narrative. I
would like the horse to be brown, a very stereotypical horse
colour.
I live in the New Forest so finding wild horses will not be
hard and will be easy to come across. This is allows my
schedule to be fluid, as I am not going to have specific days
with specific props. What is more, I can reshoot shots when
and as needed, as these horses are easily found in the
location I am going.
One of the scenes will include the main character (Angus) to
reach out to a horse (in an attempt to stroke it). I will cut
the shot before he actually has to touch the horse, meaning
it won have to be startled.
8. Costume
The beginning and end scenes the main character (Angus) wears the
same clothes, a hospital gown which pulled up white socks. To
represent a care/mentally ill home. Due to the weather conditions,
Angus will wear shorts and a t-shirt under this gown to keep him
warm and the time of the shots will need to be kept minimal to
make sure he is comfortable.
He then proceeds to war casual clothes which represent the folk
rock genre. Baggy trouser/chinos, a t-shirt with an over shirt and sun
glasses. The video would preferably be set in the summer, so I have
to choose days where it looks sunny, and then try to create the
illusion it Is summer through the costume and acting. These clothes
are common conventions in the folk genre, as they don’t really care
too much about their opinion, they were comfortable clothes that
are functional. I am trying to create costume that follows the
stereotypes of someone going to a festival etc.
