Vitamin D plays an integral role in multiple systems in...
Vitamin D plays an integral role in multiple systems in the human body, from its function in
Calcium and Phosphorus metabolism, to modulation of the immune and reducing the risk of
cardiovascular diseases (Grober et al. 2013). Unfortunately, factors such as diet, geographic
position, and skin pigmentation are contributing to an increase of prevalence of Vitamin D
deficiency around the world, consequently leading to a higher rate of associated illnesses.
Namely, Cardiovascular Diseases such as Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Hypertensive Vascular
Disease, and Myocardial Infarction have been shown to be more common in people with lower
levels of Vitamin D in their system (Lavie, Lee Milani 2011).
Vitamin D can often be obtained with two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2013).Calcitriol inhibits the production of the Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) a hormone which plays
a role in stimulating Calcitriol synthesis in the kidneys (Zittermann 2006). Calcidiol and Calcitriol
are both catabolised to inactive metabolites to also regulate the amount of 1,2(OH)2D (Reid
Bolland 2012).
During Vitamin D deficiency, PTH still attempts to maintain a relatively similar concentration of
Calcitriol compared to original levels, which would require an increase in PTH (Grober et al.
2013). Hence, the better indicator of Vitamin D status and deficiency is Calcidiol (Zittermann 2006).

The Importance Of Unreasonable Searches
The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses,
papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated (Stader,
2013). I agree that people have the right to privacy, but when that privacy has the possibility to
affect other people then I think that allows us the freedom to conduct searches. The key word I
think here for me is unreasonable. We can see just as in the shooting that occurred this morning at
the Nightclub were patrons were killed. There were no searches conduct or machines to check for
weapons. When it comes to searches I agree that we should be intrusive with students, but I can t
be invasive. Since I agree that it is a slippery slope for me,

The, Little Yellow Creatures
The most memorable and marketable aspect that came out of the Despicable Me movies were the
Minions, little yellow creatures that only spoke partial English and showcased about as much
intelligence as a garden gnome maybe less. They weren t fun in the first film, when they were
decidedly secondary characters, and they were even more annoying in the second, when they
played a larger role. Now, because the universe hates us, they ve been given a standalone movie,
officially taking center stage for the first time, and bringing with them a whole bunch of marketing
opportunities. Did you know Minions Tic Tacs exist? Well they do.
minions acts as a prequel to the Despicable Me movies, taking place a few decades before the
yellow monstrosities attached themselves to Gru. The film opens off with a brief history of how
the Minions found themselves in the 1960s: through their own stupidity, they killed off every
villain they admired. Now, without purpose, three of the species head to New York, Orlando, and
eventually London in order to find a new Supervillain to follow around. Their target? Scarlet
Overkill (voice of Sandra Bullock; no, really).
That s right. Sandra Bullock went from getting an Oscar nomination in Gravity to voicing a
character in minions. I m pretty sure this is proof positive that there s a problem for women over
40 to get good roles in Hollywood. All of the Minions, by the way, are voiced by Pierre Coffin, in a
high pitched, sped up voice that s only

China s Contributions To America
China, the second leading exporter in the world, is known for their immense role in the United
States economy. Without China s contribution to the U.S. economy, the United States would suffers
tremendously. This is the same case for China, the contributions from foreign companies is a big
reasons for China s success. The relationship between these two superpowers were not always very
strong. For years the United Statestrade system was not a very compelling situation for other
countries to do trade. As the United States evolved into the superpower country they faced a lot of
complications. For the United States of America to remain one of the world s most powerful
countries a strong relationship with China is a necessity. The continuation of... Show more content

The united states has numerous amounts of factories in china for the production of goods at the
cheapest price possible. With Americans relying on the basic price of an item, say the price of an
iPhone, without manufacturing this in china at the lowest wage several americans would simply
not be able to buy these luxury items. This is the case for not just luxury items but for all items
like plastic silverware, furniture, backpacks and many other items. If the United States were limit
the amount of imports from china the entire economy would change. Not just because of the
increase in prices but small businesses would be affected as well. For example say a small self
owned restaurant budgets themselves on how much the plates, silverware, and napkins cost.
Without imports from China these prices would jump immensely resulting in the owner to either
increase the price of the product or they will begin to lose

Descriptive Essay On The Sidewalk
My hand reaches for the door handle. The cold metal sends a shiver down my spine. Two steps
and my body is out the door. A gust of wind makes my footing unsteady, without thinking I lunge
for the building for support. I need this fresh air, the office was suffocating. A walk on the
sidewalk is just the break I need. The stoplight turns red. I turn my head left, then right. The
coast is clear. My legs scurry across the road. Safe. The familiar sidewalks lead me past the
newspaper, the post office, the Sell It Again shop, and all the buildings that have lived as long as I
have. This is home, where only two stoplights delay our travel.
As I walk, the sounds of passing motorists fill the background. The faint sound of construction at the

I miss you. The tears stream down my face. I don t try to hide them. I have been pushing this
anger and sadness down for so many years, it has ravaged my body. Holding these feelings back
from all the important people in my life, has been hard. I feel as though I shouldn t be this upset,
it s not fair to my mom, she lost her dad. The sidewalk ends with train tracks, instead of going
back the way I came, I decide to cross the road. Looking left and looking right, I sprint. Being on
the opposite side, holds a new perspective. I know it s not your fault that you can t be here, I have
asbestos to blame for that.
A passing motorist slams on her brakes. The screeching sound jerks me out of my thoughts. The
stop light turned red. The vehicles are stopping, but I continue to walk. Realization overwhelms me.
A stop light represents tragedy. Red is the incident that causes sadness. When one stoplight is red,
others might not, which represents that the world is still turning even though there is tragedy.
Yellow represents slowly recovering or looking ahead at what will change. Greenmeans learning to
keep going and adapt to the change. Life will have many stoplights, some worse than others.
Building after building, car after car, noise after noise, I absorb all of it. The chaos surrounding
me is nothing compared to chaos in Kokomo. Returning to the place I started, the sadness I felt
earlier is tucked away barely visible. While I was walking along the

Reflection Of Writing Poetry
I have always been interested in systems and structures. As a child I enjoyed the challenge of
writing poetry, the intense structures mirrored in sentence fragments and the chaos of words.
Somewhere along the way this semester I remember listening in on a conversation about
rhyming words, we are obsessed with rhyming. As a lover of poetry I began to ponder why we
love rhyming words so much, my conclusion is that it gives a through line of sound in a chaotic
language. Education is much like poetry, it finds itself grounded in structure but there are little
nuances along the way that allow chaos to form, shifting the ideal into reality. As said by John
Dewey in 1916 in Democracy and Education, ... there is a kind of passivity, willingness to let
experiences accumulate and sink in and ripen which is essential of development... we are all
instructors to realize that quality of mental process, not the production of correct answers, is the
measure of educative growth... (Allen, 2011, p.30). If my brain was a filing cabinet at the start of
the semester everything I thoughtit knew got thrown on the floor, as time passed and I organised my
thoughts new documents began to find their way into the piles, changing the system that was
previously created. Growth, reflection and perception have dominated my thought processes this
semester, the through line is assessment. Assessment regarding learningbut also assessment as
reflection of thought, convergent, divergent and lateral modes of thinking. The three modes of
thinking are as follows described in teachthought.com, convergent being logical and critical
thinking, Divergent being imaginative and creative thinking and lastly, lateral being both
convergent and divergent in balance with each other equalling thinking outside the box (Staff,
2017). When reflecting on my semester it is important to me to consider all areas of growth in my
journey. From the flow of chaos in the classroom to the filing cabinet that holds all my theory and
the mode of thought that I approach my daily activities with.
Understanding the pragmatics of something requires us to first go to the roots, the classroom
culture. At the beginning of the semester I thought of culture being how an external

Vodka Informative Speech
All About Vodka:
Vodka is a master of disguise and that s intentional. There are no universal rules to producing
vodka, but the final product is supposed to be odorless, colorless and tasteless. Distillers like to
leave their mark, though, so they tend to leave in at least some flavor so you know you re drinking
their vodka. That might make it a little less interesting to drink straight (though it can certainly still
be enjoyed this way), but vodka is perfect for mixing.
It s made from fermented grains or potatoes, though you ll also find vodka that comes from sugar
alcohols or various fruits. Some of the best known vodka producers hail from Russia, Belarus,
Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, though it s made all over the world including in ... Show more content

That s why many producers cut it with distilled water. In America, Everclear offers the highest
alcohol by volume at 95 percent, while a few Polish vodkas contain 98 percent alcohol by volume.
Flavored Vodka:
Key to vodka s explosion in America was the introduction of flavored vodka. Well, that and an
enormous marketing push by Smirnoff in the 50s and 60s. Many vodka brands began adding
flavor to the alcohol to make it more appealing, and today you can find almost any infusion you
could dream of.
Try Smirnoff Raspberry, Svedka Mango Pineapple, and CIROC Apple Vodka to dip your proverbial
toes into the flavored vodka waters. Flavors add drinkability when you shoot vodka straight and
can enhance cocktails if you prefer adding mixers to your beverage.
How to Drink It:
Vodka is a blank slate, so use your imagination. Screwdrivers, martinis, bloody marys and
greyhounds are just some of the classic cocktails. There s also the ubiquitous vodka and soda,
which might help you feel more sophisticated. However, if you find yourself in possession of a
particularly nice bottle, feel free to drink it neat, preferably in a cut crystal

The Era Of Rock Music
Introduction: The 1970s were an interesting era for rock music. It offered the genre a harder
sound that was not prominent in the 1960s. This was due to the rise in hard rock, glam rock, and
arena rock bands such as AC/DC, The Who, Van Halen, and Aerosmith. To go along with this
transition in sound, the 1970s continued the experimental music scene that the 1960s created.
Groups like Deep Purple, Electric Light Orchestra, and Pink Floyd (of course) helped progress
rock music with their experimentation with song recording. With so many great artists, it is no
wonder why so many people see the 1970s as being the best era for rock music. While there were
tons of great bands in the seventies one band constantly is referred to as one of the... Show more

I personally believe that accusation is false, so here is my essay on why Queen is the most overrated
band in rock history.
Overrated Explanation: Before I get started I must go over what I mean by overrated . When I
say a group is overrated, I do not necessarily mean they are bad. I personally enjoy Queen and
rank them highly on my list of favorites. By stating a band as being overrated, I mean that they
receive more fame and acclaim than they deserve. Many great bands are guilty of this to an
extent, such as my favorite band The Beatles . This essay is to purely explain why Queen doesn t
deserve the acclaim they receive and not why they are a terrible band, because that is not true at all.
Musical Style: Let s start off with Queen s impact on rock music. All of the greatest rock bands
have influenced the bands that have come after them. For example, Led Zeppelin s early use of
heavy guitars and drums is arguably responsible for the creation of the heavy metal genre
(Waksman). A more modern example is Nirvana, who s music in the early and mid 1990s helped
popularize alternative music as a whole (Azerrad). This brought alternative music to the
mainstream making bands like Green Day, Bowling for Soup, Pearl Jam, and Blink 182 become
regulars on the radio. Compared to other artists of this caliber, Queen has not influenced rock as
much as expected. The musical style

In an interview with Mr. Yoshihide Nakamura, the current deputy president of Sony s Core

his testimony says, ...But Sony s culture is a mix of very Japanese thinking and not very

Schools And Classrooms Are Those With Special Needs
A1. One of the major diversity groups in this country in schools/classrooms are those with special
needs. You are probably guaranteed to have at least two kids in your class that suffer from learning
disabilities or disabilities in general. These students need special attention, from their curriculum to
the treatment of their peers. Special educationstudents are spending more time in the classroom,
not just for educational purposes but for social purposes as well. Challenges that teachers face
with these students is making sure that they are included in the classroom on a day to day basis,
and that they are adjusting curriculum to suit the child s needs. More times than not the child will
get the same work as other students and it would be worked on either at the child s pace and
graded accordingly, or taken to their resource classrooms to work on it with their resource teachers.
Challenges that special education students face are not being able to understand or keep up with
the work in the classroom. They often feel separated from their peers or maybe even not being
accepted by their peers. The challenges they face such as wheel chairs, crutches etc may keep them
at a slower pace than the other students or get in the way when student are moving around the
classroom. They often are not with their peers, but separated into smaller classes so they are not as
socially excepted as other students.
Another major group of students that are in a classroom are those of different

Rhetorical Analysis Thoreau
Questions on Rhetoric and Style:
1. Describe the tone Thoreau establishes in paragraph 2. How does it contribute to the rhetorical
effect of the paragraph? In paragraph two, Thoreau uses a depressing, problematic and facetious
tone to get his message across. Thoreau explains how he is strongly against the United States
government, and also points out problems of the government. Thoreau uses depressing diction
when describing the problems of the government in order to make people feel hatred toward the
government and realize how problematic it actually is. Thoreau uses Power of Three to exemplify
the problems of the government, and further connects with the audience on an emotional level by
pointing out how the citizens help lead to the countries problematic state. Thoreau s use of
inappropriate humor when he explains trade makes the United States government seem trivial and
almost as a lost cause due to the problems caused by the leaders. His relation of such a serious
topic to a comical reference makes it an easier to understand situation. The use of this specific tone
creates a more impactful rhetorical effect that is relayed in the paragraph.
3. Thoreau develops many analogies to support his arguments (e.g., in paras. 8 and 9). Select three,
and explain whether you find them convincing. How effectively does each one support the claim
Thoreau is using it to support? Thoreau s use of analogies to support his arguments are very
beneficial in getting his point

Divinity, Sexuality and the Self in Whitman’s Song of Myself
Divinity, Sexuality and the Self in Whitman s Song of Myself
Through his poetry, Whitman s Song of Myself makes the soul sensual and
makes divine the flesh. In Whitman s time, the dichotomy between the soul
and the body had been clearly defined by centuries of Western philosophy and
theology. Today, the goodness of the soul and the badness of the flesh
still remain a significant notion in contemporary thought. Even Whitman s
literary predecessor, Emerson, chose to distinctly differentiate the soul
from all nature. Whitman, however, chooses to reevaluate that relationship.

brothers, and the women my sisters and lovers, suggesting that perhaps
sensual understanding of the interconnectedness of man bridges the spiritual

relationship between sensual contact and transcendent understanding becomes
clear. His declaration that I believe in the flesh and the appetites,

QuickBooks software can be easily learned by the beginners. The people involved in creating this
software can be contacted anytime in order to learn to operate the software.
Every time a new or unacquainted user starts using the QuickBooks, it is likely that he/she will
encounter an error. These errors are displayed with a specific code. These error codes display the
message that gives an idea to the user of what it is about. One such QuickBooks error code is
6177. It conveys that the company file will not be accessed anywhere except where it is located as
the path is unknown to the computer. This error usually occurs when the file is set to multi user
mode.
The developers have carefully studied the error and found the common cause of the same. It is
explained below:
1. Unknown path
Every time a company file is accessed, a connection is made between the path of the file with the
source or from where it is originated. On failing to recognize the path of company file,

God is always faithful to those that trust in Him and in this study you will see that faithfulness
when His children call upon Him with a faithful, humble, and trusting heart.
II. A DAY OF TROUBLE
Before we can really understand what is taking place in verse one of the chapter and to see what
news that has Hezekiah so upset, we must look back to the end of chapter 36 in which we have
a field commander of the Assyrian King who had been sent to give Hezekiah a message. Now
this field commander went to Jerusalem with a large Army and according to verse 2 He stood at
the channel for the Upper Pool on the road to Laundryman s Field . It s here that he delivers a
message. It was a message warning that the God of Israel would not save them from destruction and
that they should reject their God and put their trust in the King of Assyria.[1]
A. THE PLEA FROM HEZEKIAH
It was a message of peace and prosperity if they would follow King Sennacherib and deny the
God of Hezekiah, delivered by Rabshakeh the Field Commander. It is also eerily close to the
message that the Antichrist brings to those seen in the book of Revelation if they take the mark of
the Beast.
Hezekiah of course when told of the message becomes very distressed. He is sure to be thinking of
what happened to those

WomenВґs Role in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne...
Female Evolution in the United States Do you believe that women of this present generation have
always received the same level of respect as they receive now? Today, women are treated
exceptionally well as compared to their counterparts in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and
treated even better than those in the very early years of America. Women in the past were restricted
from freedoms and rights; their individuality was stripped and they were constantly forced to meet
the constraining view of a traditional America. In contrast, women of modern America are granted
a level of recognition and respect unexplored by American women of previous generations. Women
were unfairly judged in the past. Throughout American history,... Show more content on

As time passed, people began to diverge away from the outrageous beliefs from the Puritan era but
sexism was still present. The popular belief during the late twentieth and early twenty first centuries
was that the role of a true woman was to properly serve her husband and children. Take, for
example, Edna Pontellier from Kate Chopin s well known novel The Awakening. Edna
Pontellier was heavily scrutinized by those around her for not serving her husband and children
as if they were gods. Don t be mistaken, Mrs. Pontellier cared for them, but she also aspired to
fulfill her own desires. Mrs. Pontellier specifically said, I would give up the unessential; I would
give my money, I would give my life for my children, but I wouldn t give myself (Chopin 64).
The aspiration by Mrs. Pontellier was perceived as selfishness by those around her. It is stated
directly that, In short, Mrs. Pontellier was not a mother woman. The mother women seemed to
prevail that summer at Grand Isle... They were women who idolized their children, worshipped
their husbands, and esteemed it a holy privilege to efface themselves as individuals and grow wings
as ministering angels (Chopin 21). In other words, according to this society of the late nineteenth
century, women were to worship their husband and children; never were they allowed to allot any
time for their dreams. Simply put,

Supreme Court when the passport of Mrs. Maneka Gandhi was impounded and she was not
allowed to go abroad. In this case justice Bhagwati had given a new dimension to Right to life and

But in the case of ADM Jabalpur v Shivkant Shukla for which the chief justice apologized after
30 years and said if he were not agreed to the majority judgment the past and present of our
country would be different so this case would be discussed further and why justice Khanna
dissented in this case and why this case is always considered as a blot on Indian judiciary. The
fundamental rights are very important that are granted by the constitution against the arbitrariness

case was an erroneous judgment and if that was not delivered the presentvIndia would be

The aim for carrying out this research work is to analyze the judgment of Justice Bhagwati on

prominent through the case laws in India.

Taking a Look at Polylactic Acid Polymers
Introduction
Investigations into developing a more sustainable and eco friendly aspect of every day life are
becoming a major priority. Without such investigations or developments in not only the food
packaging sectors, but in many other major industries, this planet along with its inhabitants will
surely succumb to the human lust of consumerism and ultimately the waste that such hunger
produces. The implantation of ecofriendly green packaging options would see a sharp decline in
the amount of waste that is produced each year and give the ability to recycle and to produce
new items from previously used packaging. In this report the team discuss the concept of
biodegradable plastics and their future implementation as green food packaging alternatives to
the current form of non eco friendly plastics that are in existing use. Biodegradability refers to a
composites ability to be degraded by bacteria or other living organisms, plastics such as these can
also be susceptible to water and ultraviolet rays as sources of decomposition with this aspect being
discussed within the chapters of this report. As apart of this report, team members assess the
discovery, life cycle as well as the current or future applications of three different types of bio
plastic. Contained within is discussion on Poly Lactic Acid, Novamont s thermoplastic starch based

Behavior-Specific Praise
Teachers of students with or at risk for emotional or behavioral disabilities (EBD) face countless
stressful professional challenges throughout their careers. Students with EBD are being scattered
amongst General Education classrooms and can often exhibit behavioral changes in which many
teachers who have not had proper training or experience in managing may find overwhelming. One
strategy to help maintain engagement and reduce behavioral challenges in a classroom that
includes students with or at risk for EBD is to increase the rate of BehaviorSpecific Praise (BSP).
Offering students praise in the form of a statement which explains which acceptable behavior they
are being praised for can enhance the student s ability to remain on task and engaged in classroom
activities and discussions. Professional development in the area of BSP is necessary in developing
teachers who are more prepared to effectively face the challenges of having students with EBD.
Many strategies have been suggested for training teachers in the use of BSP, each with different
methods of presenting the information to educators. The researchers in this study believe that
further training in BSP is needed in order to produce positive... Show more content on

teacher rates of BSP and the student engagement, and the majority of the findings produced a

the study, if the training they received was useful. Teachers reported that the likelihood of
continuing to utilize the BSP strategy was high, and that they would be reporting the positive
results in their classrooms to their colleagues as well. A more interesting response from teachers
was that, despite the effectiveness of BSP, they found it difficult to execute the

Tucker Case
Tucker: The Man and His Dream 1) I believe for an idea to be truly innovative, it must be driven
both internally and externally. Tucker s idea for the 1948 Tucker Sedan was fueled by both internal
and external innovation. Internal innovation happens when a new feature or version is
implemented to an already existing product and is driven by ones own desire. Tucker exhibited
internal innovationwith his car by adding his own new features like seatbelts, moving lights, a back
engine, disc breaks, and a futuristic design. External innovation can be defined as improving a
product and being motivated by external forces. Tucker was extremely motivated to save the lives
of others and improve car safety by adding seatbelts. Tucker also... Show more content on

At the time, the car industry was one with a high barrier of entry being that the big car
companies had total control and would squash anyone new trying to interfere with their
business. I think if Tucker understood this, maybe he could have improved his chances of
success in the environment by outsourcing and working with one of the Big 3 to create his car
instead of going toe to toe so aggressively with them and losing. 4) Tucker prepared the industry
for his innovations at first with a national ad for his car. After creating this initial buzz in the
industry, Tucker heavily promoted the new designs of his car to all who were interested. At the
first meeting with investors, Tucker emphasized the importance of car safety by displaying
graphic pictures of people who died in car accidents. After displaying these images, he explained
how things like seat belts and shatterproof windows could make a huge safety impact and save
lives. 5) Tucker prepared the end user for his innovations by informing all potential customers of
the car s many futuristic and innovative features. In addition to announcing the many perks of the
car, Tucker did it with such a passion that would get people excited and ready for his car of the
future. 6) As mentioned before, Tucker knew what it took to create and manufacture a car, but he

The Outline Of The Titanic
Titanic
When: Started building on March 31, 1909. The Titanic set sail on April 10, 1912. It sank on April
15, at 2:20 A.M.
Where: Left from Southaptom, England, and was on its way to New York. Made stops in
Cherbourg, France and sailed to Queenstown(now known as Cobh), Ireland. Sank in the North
Atlantic.
Who: Ship was created by White Star Liner. The architect was Thomas Andrews. Around 2,200
people were boarded on the ship. Edward John Smith was the appointed captain.
What:
The construction of the RMS Titanic started on March 31, 1909 in Belfast, North Ireland and cost
$7.5 million. The man who designed it was a naval architect named Thomas Andrews. The ship
was built to be the world s largest passenger steamship, along with two other ships, the Olympic
and Britanic. Although the ship has always been known to many as unsinkable, it was actually
never supposed to be advertised like that. Extra measures were put into the ship to insure safety,
for example, if four watertight compartments out of the 16 were flooded, the ship would still
stay afloat. Even though all these precautions were made, who would have ever thought that a
single iceberg could cause such a huge devastation. The ship set sail on April 10, 1912 from
Southampton, England and on its way to New York. The total passengers were around 2,200
people, including a crew of around 900. The passengers were divided into certain classes
depending on what kind of ticket they paid for, with first class being the most

Nicolas Des Innocents In The Lady And The Unicorn
The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier is a story about an artist trying to make his break
right before the emergence of the Renaissance in Paris. Nicolas Des Innocents who is not only
an artist but a womanizer, gets commissioned to do a very big important job for a high ranking
official. For a young artist like Nicolas this was huge deal. He arrives at the estate to meet with
the master of the house. He is hired to design the tapestries for the large entertaining room. The
man of the house, Jean Le Viste, asks for the tapestries to depict the scenes of a battle. However Le
Viste s wife convinces Nicolas to change the design to women interacting with a unicorn. When at

I think the character development of Nicolas is accurate for this time period because he is a new
aspiring breakout artist just as the period of art being important is commencing. Many people
during this time were creating different forms of art such as music, paintings and sculptures,
and theater. It seems like this would be precisely the right time for a young man to try to make
his way in the business which is one of the reasons why Nicolas agrees to do this job he is not
very comfortable with. Another historically accurate representation of the renaissance was the
role of women. In the book Nicolas goes from one woman treating them with no respect. This
was the way women were treated during this time, as if they were property of men. He does not
have any care for their feelings and no loyalty to just one woman. Another example of this was
when he made this young girl pregnant and abandoned her to care and raise a baby on her own.
Nicolas views woman as something to play around with instead of real people. One thing that
was historically inaccurate was the idea that Nicolas easily traveled from Paris, France to
Brussels, Belgium a large amount of times very quickly. He was able to be transported back and
forth many times to work on the project all within a short amount of time. This especially seemed
incorrect because the usual mode of transportation at this time was by water on a ship, but there

Arlington s Journey
I believe that giving is greater than receiving. Being able to live in Johnson County is a blessing.
We have polite neighbors, clean streets, and fresh water. This past spring break I was fortunate
enough to travel to Arlington, Texas, with my youth group from my church. As a group, this
would be our second time traveling to Arlington for a mission purpose. As an individual,
Arlington changed me. When my youth group is traveling a long distance, we rent a couple of

lunch breaks. Every time my youth leader tells the group to go to the bathroom, no one listens.
That is because we are teenagers and do not have the best listening skills. One teen needed to take
a whiz and could not hold it for much longer. His solution was to relieve himself into a water
bottle. This would be an interesting trip for every single one of us. Arriving in... Show more content

Immigration American Immigration
Why did so many immigrants leave home? What were their expectations? From where? Many
Europeans decided to come to America for many reasons. All of them, immigrated because the
European continent was living in a bad economic and religious situation. America experienced a
massive immigration that occurred from around 1800s to 1900s. Most of these newcomers came
from Northern and Western Europe. Many came from Ireland and Germany, which experienced a
massive potato famine in the mid 19th century. Some Escaped religious persecution and came to
search for freedom to practice their faith (Catholics and Jews) looking for refuge and renewal.
Also, a huge number of immigrants came to America for wealth, seeking economic opportunities
(economic betterment and the desire for cash). According to Professor Young, she argued that
immigrants were often feared for bringing foreign and radical influences to the U.S. I totally agree
with this statement because many Americans were so scared of communism (Leninism and
Bolshevism), cultural changes, and fear in general. Americans was afraid of immigrants in general
because according to them immigrants were bringing radical influences to the U.S and were
dragging down the American life, but in my analysis this image challenges the argument stated by
professor Young. This image shows immigrants arriving in New York City as we can see with the

To Blanche and Stanley, masculinity is defined purely by forceful actions and sexuality. Societal
pressures on men forced Stanley to grow up with little ability to express himself without the use of
force and a constant urge to display and promote his sexual prowess. Through the character of
Stanley, Williams highlights the pressure men feel to be aggressive and active in sex.
On the contrary, the expectations and double standards of society pressure Blanche to behave
prudently and conservatively, against her nature. Blanche admits to Stella the pressure she feels to
appear demure when she shares, It isn t enough to be soft. You ve got to be soft and attractive. And

A Picture Of The Gulag Labor Camps
In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the
surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousand fold in the future. When we neither
punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby
ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations. Aleksandr Solzhenitsynsaid in his

Nanda notes that the Indians success in the global market have attributed to Hindu values.
These are constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu
gods and India itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies
such as Korea and Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major
global power. Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to
Calvinism. Redding sees their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant
work ethic. Similarly Berger argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional
equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic. He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of
Calvinists aspect of life which in result its members continue to prosper. However Berger
underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are not enough to produce economic
development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For example while Protestantism has
grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains backwards. By contrast, the
south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from Pentecostalism and the
necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. Lehmann says that it has done this
by accompanying globalisations, imposed my indigenous population and in the past 100 years it
has spread because of its popular following. The symbols and

William Blake s Inscription On The Young Chimney Sweepers
William Blake s Inscription on the Young Chimney Sweepers
By: Kyle Fitch
Prof. Joseph McNally
Engl. 3312 B
April 20, 2015
A key point in the history of mankind was the Industrial Revolution. It was also a difficult time in
history in terms of suffering, especially for the lower class that had to work twice as hard as the
upper class for minimum wage. A young poet by the name of William Blake became livid and
motivated in the late eighteenth century by the coldhearted usage of young boys for chimney
sweeping. As a result, he created a demonstration in the arrangement of humble poetry Deeper
knowledge of Blake will reveal no darkly buried meaning, only a deeper sense in the meaning
obvious to all (Schulz, Max F, 7) . This is exactly the case in which Blake calls them The Chimney
Sweepers Blake uses practicality, rather than in depth imagery, to portray the ruthless conditions of
the Industrial Revolution.
Blake was encouraged to compose a poem about these young children and their brutal lives for
the public. The public was not commonly made aware of the abuse but it was acknowledged that
the young children were being mistreated through their short lived years. Yet, history has lost sight
of the disgusting conditions the young boys encountered every day. For that reason, understanding
with such specifics does help the person who reads Blake s poem to see more clearly of Blake s
accusation towards humanity for allowing kids to be exposed to practically unlivable

Discussion of the Settings in the Great Gatsby by F. Scott...
A Discussion of the Three Major Setting in The Great Gatsby
Setting is an integral part of a novelist s or playwright s ability to communicate characters ideals
and attitudes. One of the greatest American authors, Francis Scott Fitzgerald also employs these
essential strategies when describing the three main setting of The Great Gatsby: West Egg, East
Egg, and the Valley of the Ashes. Fitzgerald relates West Egg with the less fashionable side of
Long Island and new money , relates East Egg to the fashionable side of Long Island and old
money , and relates the Valley of Ashes to a desolate wasteland that represents the crumbling of
the American Dream and the destruction caused by modern society. West Egg promotes ideals of
individuality and illegality and creates an atmosphere of lavish spending; however, East Egg gives
rise to ideals of upper class society fueling attitudes of condescension towards lower classes of
people including West Egg, while the Valley of Ashes is the manifestation of the desolate wasteland
surrounding a city that represents the withering of the American Dream.
In The Great Gatsby, the first setting we are introduced to is West Egg. West Egg is described in
the book as a place where the lower and middle class who have found themselves outrageous
amounts of money reside. As an immediate consequence to this, they spend lavishly on extravagant
desires of theirs. This is exemplified when Fitzgerald writes, From West Egg came the Poles and the

Examples Of Informative Speech On Antis
Tonight, I went to the dinner that the Antis (people who are against women voting) were
having. I wore a white dress with a purple sash. The Antis must ve had a lot of money because
there were at least dozen of them at the table. They didn t even realize I was there. The Antis
were talking about how they wouldn t lose the vote in the House. They also talked about a
foreign Jew . The way they said Jew made my skin crawl. They talked about him disappearing.
One of the Antis mentioned murder, but another one said they weren t talking about that. They
just wanted him to disappear for a week or so. They wanted us to be as nervous as when we lost
Seth Walker. Miss Pearson (one of the Antis) said that this Jew couldn t be bought and he only
ran for legislature so he could vote on the Susan B. Anthony amendment. They said he could be
bought if he woke up with a big bump on his head and he was locked in the hold of a tramp
steamer headed south out of New Orleans. I wonder who they are planning to kidnap. I know it s
going to be a Suff (people for women s voting) legislator. The plan didn t seem solid. The Anti

to vote for them. Chloe had taken him to the burlesque and then supper. I think they are done

Reasons For Studying Abroad In Thailand
A lot of preparation is needed to make study abroad fulfilling. I would want to study abroad in
Thailand to realize my long term goal. For that reason, I have worked on preparations for learning
and growing lots with the exchange study abroad in Thailand.
First, improving language abilities and international exchanges. To stay a long time over the sea.
Communications in a language of the country are indispensable. In addition, international students
learn in English at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in Thailand.
For this reason, I am improving my English ability of university s Learning English program as
English Connection (EC) and Talk Time. In the fall semester of the second year grade, I took a

Something sees this study abroad is due to my willingness to realize my future goals. The cause is
that my goal is to contribute to the reality of a multicultural symbiosis society as a social worker,
and to think that Thai learning is important.
Something is, as globalization progresses in Japan, social workers are also under an obligation to
have language skills and international feelings. The number of foreigners who live together in
Japan and those who have roots abroad has increased, and it is increasing that social workers will
assist those people because of that. The need for multicultural social work to respond to such needs
is rising.
I feel that intention also in my personal experience. I am working part time in community volunteer
activities and child welfare facilities. Under such circumstances, I met many people who have roots
abroad. I also had to experience and realized the necessity of international welfare more.
For this reason, language skills in diversifying and internationalizing needs are imperative. For that
reason, learning English, Thai, and international senses during Thailand s study abroad helps to
become active as a social

The Scopes Monkey Trial
Ever since science began to explain the previously unexplainable, it has caused conflicts with
religion. The Scopes Monkey Trial of Dayton, Tennessee was one of the most talked about trials in
history because it was one of the first and most publicized times that this conflict occurred. The trial
showed the schism between the faithful fundamentalists and the newly formed group of
evolutionists. Although the jury was reminded that they only had to decide if Scopes had broken
the law, the verdict was seen as much more than that. For one of the first times in history, it seemed
as if the jury had to choose either religion or evolution. For the time being, there could not be both.
The Scopes Monkey Trial revealed the ongoing conflict with... Show more content on

That May, the American Civil Liberties Union put an ad in the newspaper looking for a teacher to
challenge the law. John Scopes was asked to volunteer, and he agreed. The trial involved attorneys
William Jennings Bryan and Clarence Darrow and lasted over a week, the courtroom constantly
overflowing with people and the witness examinations including many heated debates. (Adams)
The case, meant to decide if Scopes broke the law, diverged from its original intention as the
witnesses began to speak about the constitutionality of the law, questioning the legitimacy of the
Bible. One of the most well known of these examinations was the questioning of Bryan by
Darrow about the book of Genesis. After initially contending, Everything in the Bible should be
accepted as it is given there, Bryan finally conceded that the words of the Bible should not
always be taken literally (UMKC School of Law). The final decision stated that Scopes was guilty
of breaking the law and was fined $100. While this was seen as a win for fundamentalists, it was
not the end of the battle. In retrospect... Scopes forged a temporary break, not a full scale retreat, in
the fundamentalist assault on modernist thought (Gillon 171).
Starting with the Scopes Trial, many more cases have occurred concerning the teaching of
evolution. By 1928 every southern state except Virginia had debated or was considering legislation
banning the teaching of evolution in the

Henry Moore Seated Woman Analysis
Henry Moore s Seated Woman, 1958 59
In this paper I will describe my interpretation of the sculpture through visual observation. Henry
Moore is said to be the most important British sculptor of the 20th century, and the most popular
and internationally celebrated sculptor of the post war period. Moore, believed that a material had
its own vitality and therefore used a direct carving technique and worked on the material directly
instead of molding and casting. Moore was inspired by the human body and the nature. This led
him to creating abstract forms to draw analogies between the human body and landscape. (Henry
Moore Biography, Art, and Analysis of Works. (n.d.). Retrieved June 21, 2016, from http:/

The sculptor has a lot of texture all throughout and seems to be disproportionate. The bottom half
or legs of the sculpture is not only large but appears to be thick, solid and robust. The middle of
the sculptor which would be the abdomen is concaved and seems to have been carved out. The
top part of the sculptor or the torso seems to be the most disproportionate. The arms of the
sculptor are not well defined and one arm might even appear to be crossed over her breast while
her breast seem to be full and voluptuous. From the back, the sculptor is much more defined as you
can clearly see that it is a person

English Language Learners Research Paper
Teaching Math to English Language Learners
When it comes to teaching English Language Learners, math is often an under researched topic
because it is thought to be a language of numbers (Janzen, 2008). A misconception that many
educators share is that because math uses symbols it is not associated with language or culture
(Bresser, Melanese Sphar, 2009). Not all English Language Learners are the same, and often times
ELLs enter a new classroom that requires proficiency on both mathematical and linguistic levels.
ELLs come in with different levels of schooling, some come from a situation where they have been
attending school regularly, so the transition is not as hard as it is for the students who really have
not attended school on a regular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Math uses a specialized vocabulary that can only be learned in school. Words in math can mean
one thing and have a completely different meaning in everyday conversation. It takes English
Language Learners (ELLs) about two years to learn social (everyday) language, but math language
takes about five to seven years to learn. ELL students not only have to translate between English
and their native language, but also between social and academic language (Janzen, 2008; Slavit
Ernst Slavit, 2007). In math, we use language to explain concepts and to carry out the procedures,
so it is critical to have an understanding of the vocabulary in order to comprehend those concepts. If
students do not fully grasp the vocabulary in the problem, then they are at an obvious disadvantage.
ELLs may understand the content of the lesson, but inexperience with the language can hold them
back from expressing what they know. When students are learningto talk math, it is essential to
make the lesson comprehensible for the students, but also to make sure that the students have the
vocabulary needed to understand the instruction. It is important for students to not only be able to
understand the vocabulary used in the lesson, but also to be able to apply that vocabulary in
conversation (Bresser, Melanese Sphar,

An Analysis Of Wuthering Heights
The role of women in the world of literature has typically taken a back seat to that of men.
However, the women in the stories of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Medea by Euripides
don t easily compromise to the bidding of their male counterparts. In both stories, before any female
took the initiative to go against a male individual, women were oppressed, influenced, and culturally
subjected by the actions of the male populace. There is a clear and distinct mistreatment of women
in the two texts, however it serves to better improve their advancement as it is in their backlash and
resistance towards male disposition that causes them to become culturally revolutionary and
significant. Although a handful of characters primarily... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After experiencing a good amount of torment at the hands of Heathcliff, Isabella decides to flee
to London where she raises their child, Linton, for about a decade. In doing this Isabella
prevents, or rather prolongs, any harm Heathcliff could do to the child. Moreover, prior to
Isabella running away with Heathcliff, Catherine warns her about his questionable morality to
which Isabella denies and claims, I love him more than ever you loved Edgar... (102). Here,
Isabella is essentially defending herself and not letting Catherine coerce her, which conveys a
headstrong and uncompromising attitude about her character. In addition, when hearing
Heathcliff, a physically imposing and menacing figure, belittle her brother Isabella retorts and
criticizes him saying, Catherine and Edgar are as fond of each other as any two people can be!
No one has a right to talk in that manner, and I won t have my brother depreciated in silence!
(148). This quote basically displays the amount of courage that Isabella has. Heathcliff could
have easily punished her for speaking out against him, which she was most likely aware of. Yet
she disregards this notion and says her piece regardless of any possible disciplinary measures that
could have followed. In performing all of these actions, Isabella displays a beat to your own drum
mentality and a great sense of independence, rebelliousness, courage, and charity. She seems to

second virtue, confidence. The Black Panther explodes with confidence because he is highly

Soldier. Third is cooperation he cooperates with the Avengers because they want to find Captain
America and the Falcon who is with the Winter Soldier so they work together to find the Winter

Allowing someone to choose when to die, in the face of intolerable pain, is seen by South
Australian Voluntary Euthanasia Society (SAVES) as the most dignified and compassionate
remedy to end suffering (South Australian Voluntary Euthanasia Society 1995). Therefore, present
legislation allowing patients to refuse treatment does not help them to die with any dignity. 5.2 Life
Support
The cost of healthcare has risen dramatically and shows every sign of continuing to do so
(Australian Psychological Society n.d.). The Australian Psychological Society claim that for
many, the improper use of life support systems to temporary lengthen life, without any
improvement in the quality of life, can be used as a good argument for euthanasia (Australian
Psychological Society n.d.). Medical policy and hospital practice means decisions are already
being made about who qualifies for life support. This implies an already covert practice of
euthanasia (Chaney 2001). Therefore, some form of legalisation would acknowledge an already
existing practice and extend the decision making to the patient also.
5.3 Public Opinion
Recent studies and polls in Australia seem to show support from both professionals and the general
public for individuals to have the right to choose between euthanasia as an alternative to a life of
suffering (What is euthanasia? 2006, para 8). If it is supposed that legislation should represent the
views of the public, then

  • 2. Vitamin D plays an integral role in multiple systems in... Vitamin D plays an integral role in multiple systems in the human body, from its function in Calcium and Phosphorus metabolism, to modulation of the immune and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases (Grober et al. 2013). Unfortunately, factors such as diet, geographic position, and skin pigmentation are contributing to an increase of prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency around the world, consequently leading to a higher rate of associated illnesses. Namely, Cardiovascular Diseases such as Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Hypertensive Vascular Disease, and Myocardial Infarction have been shown to be more common in people with lower levels of Vitamin D in their system (Lavie, Lee Milani 2011). Vitamin D can often be obtained with two ... Calcidiol and Calcitriol are both catabolised to inactive metabolites to also regulate the amount of 1,2(OH)2D (Reid Bolland 2012). During Vitamin D deficiency, PTH still attempts to maintain a relatively similar concentration of Calcitriol compared to original levels, which would require an increase in PTH (Grober et al. 2013). Hence, the better indicator of Vitamin D status and deficiency is Calcidiol (Zittermann 2006). • 3. The Importance Of Unreasonable Searches The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated (Stader, 2013). I agree that people have the right to privacy, but when that privacy has the possibility to affect other people then I think that allows us the freedom to conduct searches. The key word I think here for me is unreasonable. We can see just as in the shooting that occurred this morning at the Nightclub were patrons were killed. There were no searches conduct or machines to check for weapons. When it comes to searches I agree that we should be intrusive with students, but I can t be invasive. Since I agree that it is a slippery slope for me, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The, Little Yellow Creatures The most memorable and marketable aspect that came out of the Despicable Me movies were the Minions, little yellow creatures that only spoke partial English and showcased about as much intelligence as a garden gnome maybe less. They weren t fun in the first film, when they were decidedly secondary characters, and they were even more annoying in the second, when they played a larger role. Now, because the universe hates us, they ve been given a standalone movie, officially taking center stage for the first time, and bringing with them a whole bunch of marketing opportunities. Did you know Minions Tic Tacs exist? Well they do. minions acts as a prequel to the Despicable Me movies, taking place a few decades before the yellow monstrosities attached themselves to Gru. The film opens off with a brief history of how the Minions found themselves in the 1960s: through their own stupidity, they killed off every villain they admired. Now, without purpose, three of the species head to New York, Orlando, and eventually London in order to find a new Supervillain to follow around. Their target? Scarlet Overkill (voice of Sandra Bullock; no, really). That s right. Sandra Bullock went from getting an Oscar nomination in Gravity to voicing a character in minions. I m pretty sure this is proof positive that there s a problem for women over 40 to get good roles in Hollywood. All of the Minions, by the way, are voiced by Pierre Coffin, in a high pitched, sped up voice that s only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. China s Contributions To America China, the second leading exporter in the world, is known for their immense role in the United States economy. Without China s contribution to the U.S. economy, the United States would suffers tremendously. This is the same case for China, the contributions from foreign companies is a big reasons for China s success. The relationship between these two superpowers were not always very strong. For years the United Statestrade system was not a very compelling situation for other countries to do trade. As the United States evolved into the superpower country they faced a lot of complications. For the United States of America to remain one of the world s most powerful countries a strong relationship with China is a necessity. The continuation of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The united states has numerous amounts of factories in china for the production of goods at the cheapest price possible. With Americans relying on the basic price of an item, say the price of an iPhone, without manufacturing this in china at the lowest wage several americans would simply not be able to buy these luxury items. This is the case for not just luxury items but for all items like plastic silverware, furniture, backpacks and many other items. If the United States were limit the amount of imports from china the entire economy would change. Not just because of the increase in prices but small businesses would be affected as well. For example say a small self owned restaurant budgets themselves on how much the plates, silverware, and napkins cost. Without imports from China these prices would jump immensely resulting in the owner to either increase the price of the product or they will begin to lose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Descriptive Essay On The Sidewalk My hand reaches for the door handle. The cold metal sends a shiver down my spine. Two steps and my body is out the door. A gust of wind makes my footing unsteady, without thinking I lunge for the building for support. I need this fresh air, the office was suffocating. A walk on the sidewalk is just the break I need. The stoplight turns red. I turn my head left, then right. The coast is clear. My legs scurry across the road. Safe. The familiar sidewalks lead me past the newspaper, the post office, the Sell It Again shop, and all the buildings that have lived as long as I have. This is home, where only two stoplights delay our travel. As I walk, the sounds of passing motorists fill the background. The faint sound of construction at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I miss you. The tears stream down my face. I don t try to hide them. I have been pushing this anger and sadness down for so many years, it has ravaged my body. Holding these feelings back from all the important people in my life, has been hard. I feel as though I shouldn t be this upset, it s not fair to my mom, she lost her dad. The sidewalk ends with train tracks, instead of going back the way I came, I decide to cross the road. Looking left and looking right, I sprint. Being on the opposite side, holds a new perspective. I know it s not your fault that you can t be here, I have asbestos to blame for that. A passing motorist slams on her brakes. The screeching sound jerks me out of my thoughts. The stop light turned red. The vehicles are stopping, but I continue to walk. Realization overwhelms me. A stop light represents tragedy. Red is the incident that causes sadness. When one stoplight is red, others might not, which represents that the world is still turning even though there is tragedy. Yellow represents slowly recovering or looking ahead at what will change. Greenmeans learning to keep going and adapt to the change. Life will have many stoplights, some worse than others. Building after building, car after car, noise after noise, I absorb all of it. The chaos surrounding me is nothing compared to chaos in Kokomo. • 7. Reflection Of Writing Poetry I have always been interested in systems and structures. As a child I enjoyed the challenge of writing poetry, the intense structures mirrored in sentence fragments and the chaos of words. Somewhere along the way this semester I remember listening in on a conversation about rhyming words, we are obsessed with rhyming. As a lover of poetry I began to ponder why we love rhyming words so much, my conclusion is that it gives a through line of sound in a chaotic language. Education is much like poetry, it finds itself grounded in structure but there are little nuances along the way that allow chaos to form, shifting the ideal into reality. As said by John Dewey in 1916 in Democracy and Education, ... there is a kind of passivity, willingness to let experiences accumulate and sink in and ripen which is essential of development... we are all instructors to realize that quality of mental process, not the production of correct answers, is the measure of educative growth... (Allen, 2011, p.30). If my brain was a filing cabinet at the start of the semester everything I thoughtit knew got thrown on the floor, as time passed and I organised my thoughts new documents began to find their way into the piles, changing the system that was previously created. Growth, reflection and perception have dominated my thought processes this semester, the through line is assessment. Assessment regarding learningbut also assessment as reflection of thought, convergent, divergent and lateral modes of thinking. The three modes of thinking are as follows described in teachthought.com, convergent being logical and critical thinking, Divergent being imaginative and creative thinking and lastly, lateral being both convergent and divergent in balance with each other equalling thinking outside the box (Staff, 2017). When reflecting on my semester it is important to me to consider all areas of growth in my journey. From the flow of chaos in the classroom to the filing cabinet that holds all my theory and the mode of thought that I approach my daily activities with. Understanding the pragmatics of something requires us to first go to the roots, the classroom culture. At the beginning of the semester I thought of culture being how an external ... • 8. Vodka Informative Speech All About Vodka: Vodka is a master of disguise and that s intentional. There are no universal rules to producing vodka, but the final product is supposed to be odorless, colorless and tasteless. Distillers like to leave their mark, though, so they tend to leave in at least some flavor so you know you re drinking their vodka. That might make it a little less interesting to drink straight (though it can certainly still be enjoyed this way), but vodka is perfect for mixing. It s made from fermented grains or potatoes, though you ll also find vodka that comes from sugar alcohols or various fruits. Some of the best known vodka producers hail from Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, though it s made all over the world including in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That s why many producers cut it with distilled water. In America, Everclear offers the highest alcohol by volume at 95 percent, while a few Polish vodkas contain 98 percent alcohol by volume. Flavored Vodka: Key to vodka s explosion in America was the introduction of flavored vodka. Well, that and an enormous marketing push by Smirnoff in the 50s and 60s. Many vodka brands began adding flavor to the alcohol to make it more appealing, and today you can find almost any infusion you could dream of. Try Smirnoff Raspberry, Svedka Mango Pineapple, and CIROC Apple Vodka to dip your proverbial toes into the flavored vodka waters. Flavors add drinkability when you shoot vodka straight and can enhance cocktails if you prefer adding mixers to your beverage. How to Drink It: Vodka is a blank slate, so use your imagination. Screwdrivers, martinis, bloody marys and greyhounds are just some of the classic cocktails. There s also the ubiquitous vodka and soda, which might help you feel more sophisticated. However, if you find yourself in possession of a particularly nice bottle, feel free to drink it neat, preferably in a cut crystal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Era Of Rock Music Introduction: The 1970s were an interesting era for rock music. It offered the genre a harder sound that was not prominent in the 1960s. This was due to the rise in hard rock, glam rock, and arena rock bands such as AC/DC, The Who, Van Halen, and Aerosmith. To go along with this transition in sound, the 1970s continued the experimental music scene that the 1960s created. Groups like Deep Purple, Electric Light Orchestra, and Pink Floyd (of course) helped progress rock music with their experimentation with song recording. With so many great artists, it is no wonder why so many people see the 1970s as being the best era for rock music. While there were tons of great bands in the seventies one band constantly is referred to as one of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I personally believe that accusation is false, so here is my essay on why Queen is the most overrated band in rock history. Overrated Explanation: Before I get started I must go over what I mean by overrated . When I say a group is overrated, I do not necessarily mean they are bad. I personally enjoy Queen and rank them highly on my list of favorites. By stating a band as being overrated, I mean that they receive more fame and acclaim than they deserve. Many great bands are guilty of this to an extent, such as my favorite band The Beatles . This essay is to purely explain why Queen doesn t deserve the acclaim they receive and not why they are a terrible band, because that is not true at all. Musical Style: Let s start off with Queen s impact on rock music. All of the greatest rock bands have influenced the bands that have come after them. For example, Led Zeppelin s early use of heavy guitars and drums is arguably responsible for the creation of the heavy metal genre (Waksman). A more modern example is Nirvana, who s music in the early and mid 1990s helped popularize alternative music as a whole (Azerrad). This brought alternative music to the mainstream making bands like Green Day, Bowling for Soup, Pearl Jam, and Blink 182 become regulars on the radio. Compared to other artists of this caliber, Queen has not influenced rock as much as expected. The musical style ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is in line with the national advancement that the Japanese government was aiming at then. How reliable is the very first incorporation objective? (110 This enduring quote from the famous novel The Great Gatsby by none other than F. Scott Fitzgerald stirs the mind and imagination in wonder of the very character who had uttered these words. Infamous Gatsby is the mysterious man behind the lavish and enthralling parties; a man who made his money and his image in that of a king. But, who is this mysterious man? How did he receive the great fortune of developing all of which he had possessed? He had it all, but we are on the outside looking in; did this man with everything really have nothing at all? Every night, wonder boy goes to the end of his dock to stare out into the distance. He finds himself gazing at the green light at the end of the Buchanan s dock. This green light can symbolize many things wit in the book. This simple light could represent the desire burning inside Gatsby to achieve the goal of getting Daisy or it could stand for his dream of her and how he can not reach it no matter how hard he tries. You are probably guaranteed to have at least two kids in your class that suffer from learning disabilities or disabilities in general. These students need special attention, from their curriculum to the treatment of their peers. Special educationstudents are spending more time in the classroom, not just for educational purposes but for social purposes as well. Challenges that teachers face with these students is making sure that they are included in the classroom on a day to day basis, and that they are adjusting curriculum to suit the child s needs. More times than not the child will get the same work as other students and it would be worked on either at the child s pace and graded accordingly, or taken to their resource classrooms to work on it with their resource teachers. Challenges that special education students face are not being able to understand or keep up with the work in the classroom. • 15. Rhetorical Analysis Thoreau Questions on Rhetoric and Style: 1. Describe the tone Thoreau establishes in paragraph 2. How does it contribute to the rhetorical effect of the paragraph? In paragraph two, Thoreau uses a depressing, problematic and facetious tone to get his message across. Thoreau explains how he is strongly against the United States government, and also points out problems of the government. Thoreau uses depressing diction when describing the problems of the government in order to make people feel hatred toward the government and realize how problematic it actually is. Thoreau uses Power of Three to exemplify the problems of the government, and further connects with the audience on an emotional level by pointing out how the citizens help lead to the countries problematic state. Thoreau s use of inappropriate humor when he explains trade makes the United States government seem trivial and almost as a lost cause due to the problems caused by the leaders. His relation of such a serious topic to a comical reference makes it an easier to understand situation. The use of this specific tone creates a more impactful rhetorical effect that is relayed in the paragraph. 3. Thoreau develops many analogies to support his arguments (e.g., in paras. 8 and 9). Select three, and explain whether you find them convincing. How effectively does each one support the claim Thoreau is using it to support? In Whitman s time, the dichotomy between the soul and the body had been clearly defined by centuries of Western philosophy and theology. Today, the goodness of the soul and the badness of the flesh still remain a significant notion in contemporary thought. Now this field commander went to Jerusalem with a large Army and according to verse 2 He stood at the channel for the Upper Pool on the road to Laundryman s Field . It s here that he delivers a message. It was a message warning that the God of Israel would not save them from destruction and that they should reject their God and put their trust in the King of Assyria.[1] A. THE PLEA FROM HEZEKIAH It was a message of peace and prosperity if they would follow King Sennacherib and deny the God of Hezekiah, delivered by Rabshakeh the Field Commander. Women in the past were restricted from freedoms and rights; their individuality was stripped and they were constantly forced to meet the constraining view of a traditional America. The popular belief during the late twentieth and early twenty first centuries was that the role of a true woman was to properly serve her husband and children. Edna Pontellier was heavily scrutinized by those around her for not serving her husband and children as if they were gods. Don t be mistaken, Mrs. Pontellier cared for them, but she also aspired to fulfill her own desires. Mrs. Pontellier specifically said, I would give up the unessential; I would give my money, I would give my life for my children, but I wouldn t give myself (Chopin 64). The aspiration by Mrs. Pontellier was perceived as selfishness by those around her. It is stated directly that, In short, Mrs. Pontellier was not a mother woman. The mother women seemed to prevail that summer at Grand Isle... They were women who idolized their children, worshipped their husbands, and esteemed it a holy privilege to efface themselves as individuals and grow wings as ministering angels (Chopin 21). One strategy to help maintain engagement and reduce behavioral challenges in a classroom that includes students with or at risk for EBD is to increase the rate of BehaviorSpecific Praise (BSP). It seems like this would be precisely the right time for a young man to try to make his way in the business which is one of the reasons why Nicolas agrees to do this job he is not very comfortable with. This was the way women were treated during this time, as if they were property of men. He does not have any care for their feelings and no loyalty to just one woman. Another example of this was when he made this young girl pregnant and abandoned her to care and raise a baby on her own. Nicolas views woman as something to play around with instead of real people. • 37. Immigration American Immigration Why did so many immigrants leave home? What were their expectations? From where? Many Europeans decided to come to America for many reasons. All of them, immigrated because the European continent was living in a bad economic and religious situation. America experienced a massive immigration that occurred from around 1800s to 1900s. Most of these newcomers came from Northern and Western Europe. Many came from Ireland and Germany, which experienced a massive potato famine in the mid 19th century. Some Escaped religious persecution and came to search for freedom to practice their faith (Catholics and Jews) looking for refuge and renewal. Also, a huge number of immigrants came to America for wealth, seeking economic opportunities (economic betterment and the desire for cash). According to Professor Young, she argued that immigrants were often feared for bringing foreign and radical influences to the U.S. I totally agree with this statement because many Americans were so scared of communism (Leninism and Bolshevism), cultural changes, and fear in general. Americans was afraid of immigrants in general because according to them immigrants were bringing radical influences to the U.S and were dragging down the American life, but in my analysis this image challenges the argument stated by professor Young. Why is it that today, it is still common to hear references to Stanley s STELL LAHHHHH in a Streetcar Named Desire, while few other plays of the 1940s remain relevant? First, Streetcar dared to delve into sensitive social topics, from mental illness to homosexuality to addiction, and even mortality. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Blanche and Stanley, masculinity is defined purely by forceful actions and sexuality. Societal pressures on men forced Stanley to grow up with little ability to express himself without the use of force and a constant urge to display and promote his sexual prowess. Through the character of Stanley, Williams highlights the pressure men feel to be aggressive and active in sex. On the contrary, the expectations and double standards of society pressure Blanche to behave prudently and conservatively, against her nature. Blanche admits to Stella the pressure she feels to appear demure when she shares, It isn t enough to be soft. You ve got to be soft and attractive. And I I m fading now! Assess the sociological explanations of the relationship between globalisation and religion. 33 marks Secularisation theory has argued that modernisation has undermined religion. The importance of science and technology on economic development and rational worldview on which they depend on are seen as destroying the belief in supernatural. However religion can contribute to development, but most recently sociologists have examined what role religion may play in development in today s globalising world. This can be seen in India. Globalisation has brought rapid economic growth and has seen India become a more important player in the world political stage. It has brought prosperity to some, notably the Indian middle class. Nanda shows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nanda notes that the Indians success in the global market have attributed to Hindu values. These are constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu gods and India itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies such as Korea and Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major global power. Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to Calvinism. Redding sees their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant work ethic. Similarly Berger argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic. He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of Calvinists aspect of life which in result its members continue to prosper. However Berger underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are not enough to produce economic development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For example while Protestantism has grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains backwards. By contrast, the south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from Pentecostalism and the necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. William Blake s Inscription On The Young Chimney Sweepers William Blake s Inscription on the Young Chimney Sweepers By: Kyle Fitch Prof. Joseph McNally Engl. 3312 B April 20, 2015 A key point in the history of mankind was the Industrial Revolution. It was also a difficult time in history in terms of suffering, especially for the lower class that had to work twice as hard as the upper class for minimum wage. A young poet by the name of William Blake became livid and motivated in the late eighteenth century by the coldhearted usage of young boys for chimney sweeping. As a result, he created a demonstration in the arrangement of humble poetry Deeper knowledge of Blake will reveal no darkly buried meaning, only a deeper sense in the meaning obvious to all (Schulz, Max F, 7) . This is exactly the case in which Blake calls them The Chimney Sweepers Blake uses practicality, rather than in depth imagery, to portray the ruthless conditions of the Industrial Revolution. Blake was encouraged to compose a poem about these young children and their brutal lives for the public. The public was not commonly made aware of the abuse but it was acknowledged that the young children were being mistreated through their short lived years. Yet, history has lost sight of the disgusting conditions the young boys encountered every day. • 45. Discussion of the Settings in the Great Gatsby by F. Scott... A Discussion of the Three Major Setting in The Great Gatsby Setting is an integral part of a novelist s or playwright s ability to communicate characters ideals and attitudes. One of the greatest American authors, Francis Scott Fitzgerald also employs these essential strategies when describing the three main setting of The Great Gatsby: West Egg, East Egg, and the Valley of the Ashes. Fitzgerald relates West Egg with the less fashionable side of Long Island and new money , relates East Egg to the fashionable side of Long Island and old money , and relates the Valley of Ashes to a desolate wasteland that represents the crumbling of the American Dream and the destruction caused by modern society. West Egg promotes ideals of individuality and illegality and creates an atmosphere of lavish spending; however, East Egg gives rise to ideals of upper class society fueling attitudes of condescension towards lower classes of people including West Egg, while the Valley of Ashes is the manifestation of the desolate wasteland surrounding a city that represents the withering of the American Dream. In The Great Gatsby, the first setting we are introduced to is West Egg. West Egg is described in the book as a place where the lower and middle class who have found themselves outrageous amounts of money reside. As an immediate consequence to this, they spend lavishly on extravagant desires of theirs. This is exemplified when Fitzgerald writes, From West Egg came the Poles and the ... (Adams) The case, meant to decide if Scopes broke the law, diverged from its original intention as the witnesses began to speak about the constitutionality of the law, questioning the legitimacy of the Bible. One of the most well known of these examinations was the questioning of Bryan by Darrow about the book of Genesis. Words in math can mean one thing and have a completely different meaning in everyday conversation. It takes English Language Learners (ELLs) about two years to learn social (everyday) language, but math language takes about five to seven years to learn. ELL students not only have to translate between English and their native language, but also between social and academic language (Janzen, 2008; Slavit Ernst Slavit, 2007). In math, we use language to explain concepts and to carry out the procedures, so it is critical to have an understanding of the vocabulary in order to comprehend those concepts. If students do not fully grasp the vocabulary in the problem, then they are at an obvious disadvantage. ELLs may understand the content of the lesson, but inexperience with the language can hold them back from expressing what they know. Allowing someone to choose when to die, in the face of intolerable pain, is seen by South Australian Voluntary Euthanasia Society (SAVES) as the most dignified and compassionate remedy to end suffering (South Australian Voluntary Euthanasia Society 1995). Therefore, present legislation allowing patients to refuse treatment does not help them to die with any dignity. 5.2 Life Support The cost of healthcare has risen dramatically and shows every sign of continuing to do so (Australian Psychological Society n.d.). The Australian Psychological Society claim that for many, the improper use of life support systems to temporary lengthen life, without any improvement in the quality of life, can be used as a good argument for euthanasia (Australian Psychological Society n.d.). Medical policy and hospital practice means decisions are already being made about who qualifies for life support. This implies an already covert practice of euthanasia (Chaney 2001). Therefore, some form of legalisation would acknowledge an already existing practice and extend the decision making to the patient also. 5.3 Public Opinion Recent studies and polls in Australia seem to show support from both professionals and the general public for individuals to have the right to choose between euthanasia as an alternative to a life of suffering (What is euthanasia? 2006, para 8).
