Kolf Research Paper
The Culture trait of Scotland is golf. The term kolf came from the Dutch. (Cultural Diffusion Andrew
Scottish Culture. n.d.) It was brought over to Scotland from the major trading that those two countries
did. Kolf was a sport with characteristics of golf and ice hockey played in the Netherlands. It was
played with a stick and a ball on frozen canals in the winter times. In this game, players took turns
using iron headed clubs to strike a small ball toward a target, which was typically a stake or a hole.
During the winter, kolf was typically played on ice, though it took place on city streets and courts for
the rest of the year. Kolf was a short game and took as long as a game of putt putt. When the game
was brought over to the east

Public Policy And Creating Solutions For Improvement Essay
Examining Public Policy and Creating Solutions for Improvement
Reflections on Public Policy The chosen public policy issue is the ongoing effort within nursing to
advance the field through taking action. In this case, action takes four distinct activities: advocacy,
policy, learning as a lifelong process and involvement in philanthropy. This action can be applied
through community based participatory research which is a research partnership seeking the
involvement of all members of the community. Under this approach, all participants contribute their
knowledge to the process in an effort to better the quality of life in that community members (Israel et
al., 2008). It is because there are so many under served populations and in under serving these
populations nursing fails to live up to its professional and this is a policy change that must be made.
This issue of public policy, that is, the issue of the prevalence of under served populations which
clearly requires changing, and the role that nursing can play in this public policy process is discussed
at length in Burkhardt and Nathaniel (2013).
To influence public policy, nurses must act as professionals with the ability and the responsibility to
affect the current and future debate over the delivery of health care. This would seem natural enough
as nursing is based on the principle that all people are of value and their health should be advanced
throughout every socioeconomic tier of society (Brown,

Drinking Embryos
A little girl, who is yet to be named, was made using an embryo that was frozen 18 years before by a
hospital in Shanghai. In 1988, The mother of the baby, named Huang Qiong who was 27 years old at
the time had trouble getting pregnant as she had been diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes and was
undergoing fertility treatment. So Huang decided to have her embryo frozen. During those years, she
experienced two failed frozen embryo transfers both times and had also failed one fresh embryo
transfer.
Huang took a break from the IVF treatment to focus on her work. In 2014, one of Huang s friends who

IVF Biological issues and the future of IVF In vitro fertilisation (IVF) literally means fertilisation in
glass . That s where the familiar term test tube baby came from. During the IVF process, eggs are
removed from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in the laboratory. The eggs and sperm are brought
together in a laboratory glass dish to allow the sperm to fertilize an egg, the fertilised egg, or embryo,
is later placed in the woman s womb. Benefits of IVF In Vitro Fertilisation helps many couples who
struggle with infertility and otherwise unable to conceive. The biggest advantage of IVF is to
successfully go through a pregnancy only to be pregnant to a healthy baby. IVF allows this to become
reality for people who can t have the privilege to have babies maybe because of:
Blocked tubes: For women with blocked or damaged fallopian tubes prevents them from having
babies, so IVF provides the best opportunity of having a child using their own eggs.
Male infertility: Couples with a male infertility problem will have a much higher chance of conceiving
with IVF than conceiving naturally. We have a number of laboratory techniques to facilitate this.
Unexplained infertility: 1 in 6 couples will suffer fertility problems and sometimes these remain
undiagnosed after investigation.
Endometriosis: Patients with

Remembering In Alejo Carpentier s Imagine Community
Forgetting/remembering is an important factor when building a nation. Anderson speaks extensively
about this in Imagine Communities. In order for a new nation to thrive the old one must be forgotten
so they can start anew. However, forgetting and remembering tend to blend together. Alejo Carpentier
s novel The Kingdom of This World does just that. Being that it is a historical fiction piece Carpentier
makes a conscious choice to leave in historic characters: Macandal, Henri Christophe etc. These
characters remind the reader of Haiti s history, whereas Ti Noel is a fictitious character. Carpentier
uses his characters and story plot to remind people what the Haitian nation has fought for. The role of
history, remembering/forgetting in the Haitian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Macandal is killed the people believe that he had become the man Macandal. The one Armed.
The restored. The transformed...Ti Noel saw him for the first time since his metamorphoses, (47).
They believed he had magic powers that allowed him to transform. The belief that Macandal was still
with them in just a different form allowed the people to remember and fight for their rights. Even
twelve years later . Ti Noel passed on the tales of Macandal to his children, teaching them simple little
songs he had made in Macandal s honor while currying and brushing the horses, (57). In Create

people so they do not need to feel obligated to forget .
Why do artists create to help remember Haiti s past even if it is not a pleasant thing to remember?
People cannot just forget about history or what the nation was like previously. In Haiti specifically,
while it was still controlled by the French people s quality of life was even worse than it is today. (put

The Role Of Parenthood In Jodi Picoult s Nineteen Minutes
In nineteen minutes, you can mow the front lawn, color your hair, watch a third of a hockey game.
You can bake scones or get a tooth filled by a dentist.... Or, as Peter Houghton knows... in nineteen
minutes, you can bring the whole world to a screeching halt (Picoult 363). In Nineteen Minutes by
Jodi Picoult, Peter had been bullied his whole life, and he wanted revenge. Peter felt the only way to
get revenge was to pull the trigger towards classmates and teachers.
Nineteen Minutes takes place in a small town known as Sterling. In Sterling, everybody knows
everybody. You stop at an intersection, and you know the person stopped next to you. You see your
neighbors at the grocery store, and your teacher at Olive Garden. So obviously, everyone in the small
town knew Peter and his family. Could you imagine the looks Peter s parents receive from the ... Show

Conflict was created between Peter and his parents. Peter did not meet the standards his deceased
brother held. Peter s parents were disappointed in the difference between sons. To adulterate Peter s
situation, he was constantly bullied by classmates in and out of school. One day Peter could not handle
it anymore, and the last string of the braided rope broke.
The conflict Peter was struggling with himself was impossible to conquer without support from others,
and Peter never truly had the support he needed to thrive. Peter was suffering from post traumatic
stress disorder as a result of chronic victimization. Peter had a foggy ending, which made it seem like
the bullying would never stop, so he figured he was the one who had to stop

Which Alkali Metal Carbonate Abstract:
The purpose of this lab was determining which alkali metal carbonate composes a given unknown
sample by using three different methods. These three methods of flame test, simple weight loss
calculation, and gravimetric analysis method were used to identify the properties and the molar mass
of the unknown given sample. After doing the previous tests, it was discovered that the metal was
Na2CO3 (sodium carbonate), and the mass of the molar mass was 37.158 g/mol, and the recovery rate
was 95.58%.

Pedagogy In Education And Class Politics
Pedagogy is the practice of methods and strategies of teaching, and education is the knowledge given
to individuals using pedagogy. Pedagogy can influence a lot of people, and help them understand
things differently, some by their experiences, some by their way of thinking influenced by their past
and others by their ambitions. Pragmatism which means to accomplish something in life, is done by
education according to William James in his book, Pragmatism and Education. By different methods
people learn (pedagogy) and different strategies people use to accomplish their goals in life is what
will be discussed in this essay. In Education and Class Politics, Freire encourages individuals to learn

John Dewey promotes his belief that these kinds of active learning experiences are crucial for the
mental growth of a child. Dewey suggests experiences such as taking children outside to explore
nature and geography, and starting school gardens so children can learn about agriculture.
Nonetheless, One of John Dewey s main objections to the traditional model of education involves its
focus on curriculum over the individual student. John Dewey believed that the student should
participate in their own learning, and that the student own motivation was a large factor in the amount
the student would learn in school. Therefore, Dewey argued, the educational process should be
tailored to the individual student in order to maximize the student s motivation to learn. One method
of achieving this is to relate the curriculum to a subject of individual interest for the student. Another
issue raised by John Dewey was the school s role not just as a place for students to gain academic
knowledge, but as a place where for the learning of life skills and social behavior. Dewey thought that
such general life skills and practical learning were just as important as the academic curriculum being
taught. He also argued that the life lessons students learned during their education would be a key
factor in social

leading up to December 21st, 2012. The Mayan practiced Roman Catholicism. Mayan rulers were

Rise Of Julius Caesar Essay
The year 100 BC is when Julius Caesar was born in Rome to a well known, but not rich family. The
young Caesar left Rome for military service in Asia and Cilicia. When the dictator Sulla died, he
returned, and began his political career as a prosecuting advocate. He travelled to Rhodes for
philosophical studies and, on the way, was kidnapped by pirates. He convinced his captors to raise his
ransom, then organised a naval force, captured the pirates and put them to death.
Caesar held a number of government positions under Pompey, and was elected consul in 60 BC. In 59
BC he also became governor of Gaul and Spain. In 55 BC he attempted an invasion of Britain. Three
years later, in 52 BC, he defeated a union of Gauls. After defeating his former ally, Pompey, Caesar
went on to Egypt, where he involved himself in upholding the rule of Cleopatra, with whom he had a
son Caeserian .Caesar was made dictator for life in 45 BC and was called Father of his Country. The
month of Quintilis was renamed in his honour, and continues to be known as July. He was also the
author of a large body of important political writings.

The Gladiator VS. History Essay
I m sure that many people have seen the movie the, Gladiator and thought that most if not all of it was
true. Sadly this movie paints a picture that falls short of fact and leans more towards fiction. Winning
5 academy awards it is a hit with the audience but with historians a bust. This is mainly due to the
inconsistencies revolving around character portrayals, events, and even characters that don t exist. I m
sure that this is because the truth wouldn t fair as well as the movie did. Moreover the, Gladiator
which is a winner of many academy awards does not win much in the depiction of characters and
events. Gladiator begins in 180 A.D in the winter time on a battlefield in Germania. The first error is
around the character Caesar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another mistake within this movie was showing Marcus Aurelis as only having 2 children, Lucilla and
Commodus, but Marcus Aurelius actually had 13 children (Gill N.S.). Leaving off with the opening of
this movie the biggest historical mistake overall revolves around the leading character and hero of this
movie, Maximus. This is because he is entirely made up, he did not exist. So every event or action that
involves him is false. Lucilla and he never had relations when they were younger, he didn t kill
anyone, and he was not supposed to be the protector of Rome like they showed Marcus Aurelis
wanting. Although Maximus may be a compilation of people who were real. For instance the man who
did command the battle in the opening scene which most likely occured in 179 was Taruttiens
Paternus. Also how he longed to be home and his family are from Claudius Pompeianus who was a
military officer whose career resembled Maximus s (Ward). A short while after the opening scene we
are transported to North African Zucchabar where yet more inaccuracies occur. The first being the
misconception from the movie that Gladiator games had been banned by Maximus Aurelis. This is
stated by the character Proximo who purchased Maximus to be one of his gladiators. He described
how he was forced to make a living due to the games being banned. Also the Coliseum is supposed to
have been reopened by Commodus to host games to honor his father. Commodus does this

Control and Treatment of Tuberculosis with DOTS Strategy
Introduction
Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the oldest diseases known to mankind, that despite the great achievements
of human society still remains a major health problem. Because due to the socioeconomic problems
and negligence in the treatment of tuberculosis, as well as HIV epidemy, in many countries there are a
large number of smear positive patients often remain undiagnosed. On the other hand, patients failure
to visit a physician after initiation of complaints, Lack of timely diagnosis and treatment by a
physician, inadequate treatment, improper administration of anti TB drugs, patients financial problems
in preparing medications, and patients inadequate information about their disease status and
discontinuation the medication can lead to the creation of drug resistant cases of TB. Since 1993,
World Health Organization has accepted the Directly Observed Treatment, Short course (DOTS) as a
global strategy for TB control. It is estimated that each year about 10 8 million people become
infected with TB and 3 2 million people die annually due to this disease. The World Health
Organization has declared tuberculosis a global emergency and has recommended efforts to control
the disease. Tuberculosis is considered as an endemic and common disease in east mediterranean
countries. Because of Iran proximity to Pakistan and Afghanistan (which are among most
contaminated regions in the world), our country is at serious risk of this disease. TB epidemiological

Research Paper On London Tower
The London Tower is a magnificent work of architecture that has lasted hundreds of years. From
somewhat humble beginnings as a mere base of operations to keep the locals in check, it expanded to
the most secure place in London, housing the Crown Jewels and important documents of state. The
Tower of London has a dark history, though. Countless tales of prisoners being captured and
interrogated through less than civil means call the Tower home. There are also accounts of murders, or
speculated ones, as well, taking place within its walls. The most interesting one, in my opinion, is the
Tale of the Two Princes. It recounts two young boys in line for the throne being under their uncle s
care at the Tower, before that uncle is made the new heir

His mother was told by his father that if he was born a boy and became strong enough to move a

A Study on Conservative Resurgence
Conservative Resurgence (Order #A2065848) For many years the Republican party and its
conservative base was the central point of blame for the economic woes that had occurred in America
during the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and his liberal Democratic party were
portrayed as the saviors of the United States economy and the only intellectual and political tradition
that remained for America. However, the social excesses, political instability and economic turmoil
that the liberals of the late 1960 s and early 1970 s created, led to a resurgence in conservative
thinking. Americans began to reject the complete dependence on the government, and the inefficiency
and corruption associated with it, in favor of a more independent and politically conservative way of
thinking. As a result, 1980 saw the election of Ronald Reagan, a hard core conservative Republican as
President of the United States. Reagan s victory over then President Jimmy Carter signaled a distinct
resurgence in conservative values and political activity. In the 1950 s, Lionel Trilling, famous literary
critic and writer, stated that in the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but
even the sole intellectual tradition. (McPherson, 2008, p.30) This belief was maintained throughout
the 1960 s and 1970 s within the American intellectual and political community. In addition, the
conservative opposition to the civil rights movement, although for constitutional reasons, had

Quest For The Holy Grail
Lancelot, Galahad and their
Quest for the Holy Grail
In the Arthurian Legend, Sir Lancelot is viewed as the powerful and skilled White Knight , however,
he is also considered as the Sinful Adulterer for his disobeyment to the knights code of chivalry.
Despite his innocence, these corrupt sins led to his unsuccessful quest for the Holy Grail. Instead,
Galahad, the illegitimate son of Sir Lancelot, is destined to achieve the Holy Grail, his devotional
purity making him a greater warrior than even his prominent father.
For one thing, Sir Lancelot du Lac is viewed to be the greatest and worst knight of king Arthur s
Round Table. Firstly, Lancelot is widely known to be the greatest swordsman of the Round Table.
Legend tells that as a child, Lancelot is left by the lake, where he is found by Vivian, the Lady of the
Lake. She raises and fosters him, and in time Lancelot became one of legend s most powerful knights.
Additionally, he never failed in gentleness, courtesy, or in courage. He is said to be the bravest and
most pure of heart and is always willing to help others, saving a tremendous amount of people during
his lifetime. Nonetheless, Lancelot is also conflicted as the ill made knight who commits the horrible
sin of adultery. Queen Guinevere, King Arthur s wife, and Lancelot fall deeply in love and have an
affair that is eventually revealed by Mordred. Lancelot betrays the trust of Arthur and goes against his
vows as a knight. Because of this sin, Lancelot feels

Cognitive Dysfunction
DISCUSSION
Decline in cognitive function after surgery, particularly in the elderly, has been anecdotally
appreciated by the profession and public for many years. It is a well established phenomenon after hip,
knee, abdominal, cardiopulmonary bypass and recent research reveals it to be a surprisingly common
outcome after other types of major surgery.
Cognition is defined as the mental processes of orientation, perception, memory, and information
processing, which allows the individual to acquire knowledge, solve problems, and plan for the future.
It comprises the mental processes required for everyday living and should not be confused with
intelligence. Cognitive dysfunction is thus impairment of these processes16 .It is usually expressed ...

The Contract Agreement Is Enforceable And Binds The Parties
Having concluded that the July 7, 2009 settlement agreement is enforceable and binds the parties, we
must then interpret the terms of that agreement. Settlement agreements are enforceable as independent
contracts, subject to the same general rules of construction that apply to other contracts. Maslow v.
Vanguri, 168 Md. App. 298, 316 (2006). We begin by observing that the interpretation of a contract is
a question of law subject to de novo review. Spacesaver Sys., Inc. v. Adam, 440 Md. 1, 7 (2014).
Moreover, in Maryland, we employ the objective theory of contracts, under which: [A court is to]

US Immigration Policy
The Intersection of Immigration Policy and Compassion
US Immigration Policy in modern America is an embarrassment, compounded by many politicians
apathetic and sometimes avaricious stance regarding these human transplants. For example, The
Immigration Act of 1990 requires that those seeking Diversity Immigrant Visas obtain a high school
diploma and have two years work experience, as well as two years job training before applicants can
be considered to receive said Visa. In countries with destitute economies and little access to education
for the masses, what chance do ordinary citizens have of meeting these criteria? These prerequisites
share parallels with Jim Crow Laws of the 20th century such as a literacy tests and poll taxes, which
not only disenfranchised blacks but also poor whites. If we only allow the educated and previously
employed a foot through the door, we are doing a disservice to those not afforded the same
opportunities and stealing from them the possibility of a new life in the land of opportunity. I ... Show

A Ph.D. Postulates that Today we ask too little of too many of our immigrants. We apparently don t

This is an attitude many Americans have adopted as more Mexican immigrants flood into our country.
As the best friend of a Mexican woman who recently obtained citizenship, I must vehemently
disagree. The exorbitant fees paid, unadulterated racism and hate speech directed at her and her child,
fears of paralleled corruption between the US and Mexican government at the law enforcement and

The Problem Of A Refugee
With 1 human in every 113 affected, forced displacement hits record, ...24 per min (UNHCR, 2016).
According to United Nations, A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country
because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well founded fear of persecution for reasons
of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group (UNHCR
US, n. d.). Statistics of UNHCR in 2015 shows 21.3 million refugees worldwide. Also, 3.2 million
asylum seekers and 40.8 million internally displaced people (IDP) are supported by United Nations in
125 countries. These higher numbers comparing to 2014 are due to the global rise of conflicts and war,
and lower support of affected individuals by their governments. The shocking number belongs to
children who constitute 51 percent of the refugee population, and 98,400 asylum seeker children who
are either separated from their parents or unaccompanied (UNHCR CA, 2016).
IDP is the people who are forced to flee their home in the hope of finding safety without crossing the
border since they are not protected by international law. Another group, stateless people are whom
they do not have citizenship of any country due to discriminatory policies against minorities or
citizenship exclusion after a country gains independence (UNHCR CA, n.d.). Although UNHCR has
defined refugees as a different category and only see asylum seekers with a right to be considered as a

Social Systems And Ecological Theory Paper
Identification of Possible Theory or Research Based Alternatives
There are several theoretical perspectives that could be applicable to describe the presenting issues (a)
Social Systems and Ecological Theory, (b) Behavioral theory, (c) Social Learned Theory, and (d)
Attachment Theory. In addition, Eric Erikson s stages of development describe the possible
developmental process of the family. Fortunately, each theory provides and describes a framework for
comprehending developmental trajectories, human behavior, and thought process.

subsystems and interact with systems in the environment. Both models are different; however, there is

The systems theory, as explained in the aforementioned text, states that a change in one system
reflects a change in another. Karen and Frank s marital discord refocuses their attention on their

past behaviors, resistance to another child, and focus on his marriage. Moreover, the case states that
Karen was dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, an unrelenting employer, and financial strains. Through
the fog of Karen s relationship, the case does not state whether she yielded to the educational and
behavioral needs of Anna. Karen s generous gifts to Anna from teleshopping does not indicate
understanding of Anna s psychological or physiological needs as a child. Basically, the breakdown of

Fact Of Identity
The State or Fact of Being the Same
In the dictionary, identity is the state or fact of being the same , yet identity is much more than that (
Identity ). Life is a journey in which people define themselves as an individual in order to develop a
sense of identity. However, the question is what is identity? Thomas Merton said in his novel,
Contemplation in a World of Action, A person does not simply receive his or her identity. Identity is
much more than the name of features one is born with. Identity is something people must create for
themselves by making choices that are significant and that require a courageous commitment in the
face of challenges. Identity means having ideas and values that one lives by. Identity is something
people establish for themselves as supported in the literatures of Brent Staples, Nancy Mairs, and
Truman Capote.
In the article, Just Walk on By: Black Men and Public Space , Brent Staples established an identity
based on his actions and beliefs rather than the assumptions made by the public based on his
appearance. While walking down the street, Staples whistles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Currency Union In Mexico

Currency Union Mexico
Modern day Mexico has gone though many economic difficulties from government corruption and
mass immigration from the country, to inflation in currency. A country that relies heavily on the
service and textile industry. As of today economic standing is very good and the country continues to
grow, as of right now Mexico is the 14th largest in the world in nominal terms and the 10th largest by
purchasing power. The country has sustained macroeconomics stability and moved forward in
reducing inflation and interest rates and has increased per capita income in household.
The forming of a currency union also known as a monetary union is usually when two or more states
or sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way the union takes away is the independence of the country since membership of the eurozone
establishes a single monetary policy, individual member states can no longer act autonomously,
preventing them from printing money in order to pay back creditors and ease their risk of failure to
pay. By printing money a country s currency is devalued relative to its (eurozone) trading partners,
making its exports cheaper, in principle leading to an improved balance of trade, increased GDP and
higher tax revenues in nominal terms.
There are many advantages to establishing a monetary union especially for Mexico a new growing
economic country. One advantage of creating a currency union would be an end to currency instability
in the country and untimely fix the exchange rate. If Mexico was to join a union with the likes of The
United States and Canada, Mexico would become more stable against any speculation than just as an
individual country. Also the union would result in lower interest rates in the long run just like seen in
Europe with the EU.
A North American Union like this will also force

Texas Biomes
Our ecosystem is described depending on the location we are located in. There is different plants,

six different biomes structures we have in the state of Texas. The first biome I am going to discuss is
the Central Prairies and Woodlands biome. This biome is located in the middle of biome 2 and 3
covering all of the coastal area from the Gulf of Mexico. The precipitation gradient in this area is the
highest in the state of Texas. Averaging from 75 115 cm/yr. this concludes that it s a high precipitation
area which means that the land in that area is green and hydrated. Since this biome extends from the
south were the coast is all the way to the top of eastern Texas the temperature varies depending on the

Durant had been involved in the buggy business and by 1890 was producing about 50,000 horse

Rites Of Passage Of The Native Societies
Cultures from countries of all around the world understood the importance of the transitional mark of
adolescence to manhood. Rites of passage in some cultures are significant in which males are
recognized as men after undergoing certain procedures and are conveyed differently; thus it helps
them identify who they are in their family and their positions in their societies, as well as what the
corresponding responsibilities are.
Throughout the human history, there have been a diversity of male initiation rituals from different
places in the world that although most of them which come from undeveloped societies appear to be
offensive and barbaric through the lens of Western culture, they should be respected and therefore
harnessed to maintain the world of cultural abundance.
Some torturous male rites of passage of the Native societies emphasize the capability of survival and
the significant natural power of a man when dealing with the surroundings in a world of non
technology. The environment they live in is nature: trees, soil, grass, wild flowers and wild animals. In
order to survive for generations in such condition, male adolescents future husbands and potential

attempt to breathe new life into this age old tale. In 1996, Director Baz Luhrman took the story and
placed it in a modern setting where the two rival families are mafia families. This sounds like an
interesting take on the story and it certainly was, but the movie turned out as a complete mess. The

by Shakespeare all those years ago, which was amusing at times, but it always sounded out of place.
The acting was by far the best part of the whole movie. Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo and Claire
Danes as Juliet played their parts to the best of their abilities and the best moments of the movie were
when they were the only two in the scene. The others also played their parts well and if not for the
outdated feel of the dialogue, it would almost seem as though all of it was something that had actually

The Importance Of Relative Fitness
chosen genotype survives; but this must be the same as the probability that a randomly chosen
individual survives, regardless of information on genotype. Relative fitness. The relative fitness of a
genotype (w) equals to its absolute fitness when get normalized. In the most common normalization,
the absolute fitness of each genotype is divided by the absolute fitness of the fittest genotype (Barton
and Turelli, 1989), such that the fittest genotype has a relative fitness of one. We can also define a
selection coefficient (s), a measure of how much worse the A2 allele is than A1. Mathematically, w2 =
1 s. Although the definition of relative fitness is simple, the mathematical relationship between
absolute and relative fitness is subtle (Bazykin, 1969; Betzig, 1986 and Beatty, 2008). In particular,
there is a curve of diminishing returns between these two quantities i.e., increasing the absolute fitness
of a genotype by some amount has less effect on relative fitness (compared with the mean relative
fitness) than does decreasing the relative fitness of the genotype by the same amount. The importance
of mathematical implication of fitness is straightforward i.e., when zygotes attempt to mature,
selection acts, killing some. Because a proportion (W1) of A1 individuals and a proportion (W2) of A2
individuals survive, the proportion of individuals that carry A1 after selection acts is pW1 / (pW1 +
qW2) It follows that selection will increase the frequency of the fit A1

Blood Spatter Analysis
Analyzing blood spatter at crime scene is a science that has developed significantly over the last 20
years. David Camm was arrested for the murder of his wife and two children in 2000. Several blood

led to overturning the conviction of David Camm. David Camm was an Indiana State Trooper who

are set in The Withered Arm as lying apart from the others , inhabiting a cottage with mud walls and a
thatch that has a rafter showing like a bone protruding through the skin . When the reader hears of the
handsome new gig returning from town as though after successful dealings , with a thriving farmer
and a woman with soft and evanescent features , the apparent poverty and isolation of Rhoda and her
son is in stark contrast. The implied wealth of Farmer Lodge and his new wife is highlighted by the
previous suggestion of Rhoda s lack of money. Although within the same house, Gerta and Mrs
Marroner clearly hold different positions. As the author describes Mrs Marroner, she includes details
such as her reserved, superior, Boston bred life and trips to York Beach , and this emphasised that she
is the mistress of the meek , docile and ignorant Gerta. There are further examples of Mrs Marroner s
luxurious belongings presented to demonstrate the lavish lifestyle that she has enjoyed, such as

Persuasive speech outline
Topic: embracing failure
Purpose: at the end of my speech the audience should change their perspective towards failure and use
it as a guideline to success. INTRODUCTION: I have failed over and over again in my life and that is
why I succeeded a quote by Michael Jordan. How many of you believe failure is a prerequisite to
success? , how many of you believe that the difficulties and obstacles you ve faced changed who you
are as a person? well, life is not a wish granting factory , it will feel long and tough , eventually at one
point you will fail , we all do , but it s not about failing it s about how you perceive failure , that is
what defines you as a person , Samuel Becket once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The most thorough account of judicial practice would then have to go on to study the education and
training of judges, and their embedding within a particular culture or cultures of legal behaviour. What
are the consequences of this argument? If practices are essentially ways of acting in given
circumstances, any general theory may be too distant from the practice to capture how judges actually
interpret cases. Judicial interpretation is always a matter of a specific case and a singular set of facts.
To understand why a judge in a particular case comes to a particular conclusion necessitates a study of
a precise legal context. In other words, a general account of precedent perhaps tells us more about the
practice of academic writing than it does about the work of judges. It may be that the best way to
understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to abandon any general account, and to see how it
proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This would indicate that the best way to understand the
practice of precedent is to study cases within their specific contexts†.
†
Precedence and judicial creativity
However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching
concerns that structure judicial practice. The historical beginnings of the present doctrine of precedent
obscure the extent to which judicial practice is creative. Judges make law, as Lord Browne Wilkinson
said in Kleinwort Benson v Lincoln City

Lighting Technician Personal Statement
Throughout my degree I have always been sure that I wanted to pursue a career as a lighting
technician (or spark) in the film industry. I have always held an interest in this area of the industry as
my Brother Charlie Jenkins (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5340410/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1) is a
successful lighting technician and through him I was given some early insight into a career which for
me amalgamates creativity and a trade skill. I plan to go straight into the industry working as a
freelance lighting technician or lighting trainee using the contacts that I have made over the last
couple of years. Although generally Freelancers can expect to earn around £11,000 less than those in a
permanent position in the creative industries in the UK (Creative ... Show more content on

The First contact I made were as a result of my brother, who put me in contact with gaffer Aaron
Walters (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1094618/ ) who offered me paid work on the short film The
Hope Rooms (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4962566/?ref_=nm_flmg_cam_1 ). Aaron has since put me
in contact with Gaffer Paul Burns (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0122832/), who I have worked with
several times now since November 2015. Although I was lucky enough to get an introduction through
my brother, this type of informal approach is common in the film industry with 56% (Creative
Skillset, 2014) of employees working in the creative industry finding out about their most recent job
through informal recruitment methods. One aspect that makes becoming a Lighting Technician
attractive is that you can be expected to be paid for your work almost immediately. Lighting is heavily
unionized through BECTU and in my experience, most Gaffers will insist on their lighting team being
paid the recommended BECTU rates (2016) of £315 (Shooting Crew Feature), £276 (Rigging Crew
Feature) and £250 (Commercial which also covers music promos). The BECTU Recommended rates
are there to prevent Lighting Techs being underpaid for what is both one of the most dangerous and
physically demanding jobs in the film industry. It also prevents Lighting Technicians Undercutting
each others prices, which eventually

Misogyny Pervades The Picture Aeschylus Sophocles ...
Misogyny pervades the picture Aeschylus, Aristophanes, and Sophocles paint of Athenian society. In
their literature, however, female characters catalyze plot by challenging this picture. Such characters
from Sophocles Antigone to Aristophanes Lysistrata face grim consequences for acting independently.
Clytemnestra and Cassandra from Aeschylus s Agamemnon exemplify this archetype of autonomy and
destruction. When they confront injustice, male characters perceive them as vindictive and hysterical.
This paper will compare the standards of justice Aeschylus s society imposes on men and women. I
will argue that Clytemnestra and Cassandra are protectors of divine justice who reject subservience
and thereby transcend the sexism of their society.
The women in Agamemnon are as powerful as men but slaves to the divine. Clytemnestra s early
sacrifices parallel her vengeful slaughter of Agamemnon. After Clytemnestra makes sacrifices in
celebration of Greece s victory, the chorus cries, hope glows through your victims (Agamemnon, 658).
They reference both hope for Greece s victory and hope for avenging Iphigenia s death. Sacrifices of
thanksgiving make Clytemnestra an ambassador of victory and the sacrifice of Agamemnon makes her
an ambassador of Justice. Agamemnon s slaughter is an act in the name of heavenly Justice; it is a
retributive sacrifice to Fate. Despite its moral significance, the murder of the war hero invokes a cycle
of death within the house of Agamemnon. Like the

Analysis Of Genghis Khan And The Mongols
Genghis Khan and the Mongols were once the most powerful force in the world. The vast Mongolian
empire expanded from the Sea of Japan to the Black Sea. In its prime it once had control of 22% of
the worlds land and continued to flourish longer than any other human force on the planet. In this
essay the discussion of Genghis Khan, the Mongols, and the culture and ways of life that kept their
empire in charge. Views that Jack Weatherford expresses in his book Genghis Khan: The making of
the modern world
Its been nearly eight hundred years since the existence of the Mongolian empire and yet many
concepts are still in use today in this modern age. An example of this is the use of state and federal
law. This came from Khan, at its time it was not called state and federal law, At the time Khan had in
motion the use of The Great Law, in modern age this would be the federal law. A law to rule over all
territories under Khans control and he was also a fair leader. People had self rule if they stayed loyal
to the Mongols and common people felt some sort of benefit from this. They never participated in
hostage taking or ransoms but would kill the leader and allow for the common people to have a voice.
He allowed for any enclave to have laws of their own if they follow the rules of Khan. Yet there are
still more elements of how his empire flourished in use today.
Over time, as new lands began to be discovered by mongrel growth, the use of trade became more
important with the new

The Potter Box Model Of Ethical Reasoning
While the journalism profession might appear to be as straightforward as black and white, there are a
handful of grey areas that raise ethical concerns. These areas can range from something as simple as
the correct attribution of information, to as complex as the controversial practice of native
advertisements. Journalists, however, have access to an abundance of resources, including multiple
sets of guidelines, which can help them make a difficult decision about an ethical dilemma. Whether
they are filing stories or creating media campaigns, journalists should consult these codes of ethics to
ensure that they are fulfilling their responsibility as watchdogs of society. Some of the more
commonly referred to guidelines include the Bok Model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The animal rights organization should seek different ways to convey their message to the public.
Advocacy groups may not be associated directly with the journalism and media industries, yet it
should still consult with ethical guidelines pertaining to media related projects. By taking a moment to
step back from the campaign and view it from the perspective of the community, as suggested in the
Bok Model, PETA would have identified the contentious nature of the images. The Potter Box model
would also have been helpful for PETA, considering that it helps organizations break down an issue
by identifying facts, values, principles, and loyalties. While this campaign has been banned in
Germany and remains detested in other parts of the world, the animal rights organization is not
affected. It continues to move forward with controversial media campaigns such as its Go Veg
movement that compared women to meat and its advertisement featuring Joanna Krupa modeling
nude with a crucifix, which received significant objection from the Catholic Church. Since advocacy
organizations such as PETA are not legally bound to ethical guidelines, they are not pressured to abide
by existing ones. However, if there was significant public support, advocacy organizations could be
subject to adhering to ethical codes that would force them to consider the potential

3 Characteristics Of A Civilization
3. Creating a Civilization
3. A. For a social organization to qualify as a civilization, it must have the following characteristics:
1. City/Cities A city is a large community of people living close together and a center for trade for a
larger place.
2. Permanent records Writing played a vital role in the earliest civilization. It was first developed by
the people of Sumeria. However, writing is not always necessary for civilization.
3. Advanced Technology It is specialized knowledge to transform the natural environment and human
society.
4. Specialized Workers In early human societies, farming allowed one people to produce food
surpluses thus allowing other to focus on other tasks.
5. Government It is necessary for a civilization to have a stabilized government for them to organize
themselves and to effectively function as one.
6. Social Classes With increased trade and specialized labor cities, distinction of social classes become
apparent along lines of wealth.
7. Buildings Buildings give out a sense of unity amongst the people living together. ... Show more

D. I don t think I would be able to survive living during this era. Their life was just pure work and
service to their ruler. They are forced to do labor and were treated cruelly. I don t think I can stand

the past have enough leisure time. Also, I don t think I would make a good servant for I was raised by
my parents not to be submissive against my own will. If I were to revive one part of life in the past, it
would be how they are amazing artists. I have always admired pieces of art that conveys a story and at
the same time very informative. Earliest human were known to be great inventors and artists. What
lessons can we learn from these historical changes is that not all things remain constant. Even the
greatest civilization collapsed without anyone knowing it. We should expect changes and be prepared

Misunderstood Intentions In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Misunderstood Intentions? Puck a scheming, troublesome and mischievous servant fairy of Oberon

Puck seems to be at fault for most of the characters problems. However Oberon is the person who
requested for Puck to carry out most of these tasks, Puck is the character that blatantly mistakes
Lysander for Demetrius, puts the Ass s head on Nick Bottom, and forced Lysander to hate Hermia for
a while.
First, Oberon gave Puck specific instructions to apply the flower love potion to Demetrius when he
was sleeping, but Puck mistook Lysander for Demetrius and used the flower love potion on him. Soon
after Lysander awoke to Helena. This put him in an

The Concept of Delusional Disorders Essay
Mood symptoms are common in persons with delusional disorder and often represent a proportionate
emotional response to perceived delusional experiences. However, given that mood disorders are
common in the general population, they may present as comorbid conditions, often predating
delusional disorder. Mood symptoms of mood disorders contrary to mood symptoms of delusional
disorder are prominent and meet criteria for a full mood episode (depressive, manic, or mixed).
Delusions associated with mood disorders usually develop after the onset of mood symptoms and
progress secondary to mood abnormalities. Mood symptoms of delusional disorder are generally mild
and delusions usually exist in the absence of mood abnormalities. Delusions of ... Show more content

Clinical observation led him to the hypothesis that specific combinations of symptoms in relation to
the course of psychiatric illnesses allow one to identify a particular mental disorder. Today, his
concept of endogenous psychosis is regarded as Kraepelins main achievement. He differentiated
between dementia praecox and manic depression as the two forms of psychosis. Kraepelin considered
dementia praecox as a biological illness caused by anatomical or toxic processes (Lehmann, 1997). He
observed 19 cases and worked on defining the concept of paranoia, which is reflected in several
editions of his famous textbook and most closely resembles the modern definition of delusional
disorder. Kraepelin viewed paranoia as an uncommon, chronic condition different from dementia
praecox by the presence of fixed, non bizarre delusions, lacking deterioration over time, preserved
thought process, and relatively slight involvement of effect and volition (Manschreck, 2000).
Kraepelin described that delusions of paranoia, contrary to the delusions of dementia praecox, are well
systemized, relatively consistent, and often related to real life events. He identified persecutory,
grandiose, jealous, erotomanic, and possibly hypochondriacal types of that disorder. He believed that
the illness derived from the deficit in the patients judgments caused by constitutional factors and

  • 2. Kolf Research Paper The Culture trait of Scotland is golf. The term kolf came from the Dutch. (Cultural Diffusion Andrew Scottish Culture. n.d.) It was brought over to Scotland from the major trading that those two countries did. Kolf was a sport with characteristics of golf and ice hockey played in the Netherlands. It was played with a stick and a ball on frozen canals in the winter times. In this game, players took turns using iron headed clubs to strike a small ball toward a target, which was typically a stake or a hole. During the winter, kolf was typically played on ice, though it took place on city streets and courts for the rest of the year. Kolf was a short game and took as long as a game of putt putt. • 3. Public Policy And Creating Solutions For Improvement Essay Examining Public Policy and Creating Solutions for Improvement Reflections on Public Policy The chosen public policy issue is the ongoing effort within nursing to advance the field through taking action. In this case, action takes four distinct activities: advocacy, policy, learning as a lifelong process and involvement in philanthropy. This action can be applied through community based participatory research which is a research partnership seeking the involvement of all members of the community. Under this approach, all participants contribute their knowledge to the process in an effort to better the quality of life in that community members (Israel et al., 2008). It is because there are so many under served populations and in under serving these populations nursing fails to live up to its professional and this is a policy change that must be made. This issue of public policy, that is, the issue of the prevalence of under served populations which clearly requires changing, and the role that nursing can play in this public policy process is discussed at length in Burkhardt and Nathaniel (2013). To influence public policy, nurses must act as professionals with the ability and the responsibility to affect the current and future debate over the delivery of health care. This would seem natural enough as nursing is based on the principle that all people are of value and their health should be advanced throughout every socioeconomic tier of society (Brown, ... In 1988, The mother of the baby, named Huang Qiong who was 27 years old at the time had trouble getting pregnant as she had been diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes and was undergoing fertility treatment. So Huang decided to have her embryo frozen. During those years, she experienced two failed frozen embryo transfers both times and had also failed one fresh embryo transfer. IVF Biological issues and the future of IVF In vitro fertilisation (IVF) literally means fertilisation in glass . That s where the familiar term test tube baby came from. During the IVF process, eggs are removed from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in the laboratory. The eggs and sperm are brought together in a laboratory glass dish to allow the sperm to fertilize an egg, the fertilised egg, or embryo, is later placed in the woman s womb. Benefits of IVF In Vitro Fertilisation helps many couples who struggle with infertility and otherwise unable to conceive. The biggest advantage of IVF is to successfully go through a pregnancy only to be pregnant to a healthy baby. IVF allows this to become reality for people who can t have the privilege to have babies maybe because of: Blocked tubes: For women with blocked or damaged fallopian tubes prevents them from having babies, so IVF provides the best opportunity of having a child using their own eggs. Male infertility: Couples with a male infertility problem will have a much higher chance of conceiving with IVF than conceiving naturally. We have a number of laboratory techniques to facilitate this. Unexplained infertility: 1 in 6 couples will suffer fertility problems and sometimes these remain undiagnosed after investigation. • 5. Remembering In Alejo Carpentier s Imagine Community Forgetting/remembering is an important factor when building a nation. Anderson speaks extensively about this in Imagine Communities. In order for a new nation to thrive the old one must be forgotten so they can start anew. However, forgetting and remembering tend to blend together. Alejo Carpentier s novel The Kingdom of This World does just that. Being that it is a historical fiction piece Carpentier makes a conscious choice to leave in historic characters: Macandal, Henri Christophe etc. These characters remind the reader of Haiti s history, whereas Ti Noel is a fictitious character. Carpentier uses his characters and story plot to remind people what the Haitian nation has fought for. The role of history, remembering/forgetting in the Haitian ... The belief that Macandal was still with them in just a different form allowed the people to remember and fight for their rights. Even twelve years later . Ti Noel passed on the tales of Macandal to his children, teaching them simple little songs he had made in Macandal s honor while currying and brushing the horses, (57). In Create Dangerously the author Edwidge Danticat shares that Haitians still look at storytellers journalists specifically as a mix of usefulness [they] are offering a service to others by providing information and notoriety makes it an occasionally respectable profession, (28). They are the ones who educate the people so they do not need to feel obligated to forget . Why do artists create to help remember Haiti s past even if it is not a pleasant thing to remember? People cannot just forget about history or what the nation was like previously. In Haiti specifically, while it was still controlled by the French people s quality of life was even worse than it is today. (put in stats from that article ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You can bake scones or get a tooth filled by a dentist.... Or, as Peter Houghton knows... in nineteen minutes, you can bring the whole world to a screeching halt (Picoult 363). In Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult, Peter had been bullied his whole life, and he wanted revenge. Peter felt the only way to get revenge was to pull the trigger towards classmates and teachers. Nineteen Minutes takes place in a small town known as Sterling. In Sterling, everybody knows everybody. You stop at an intersection, and you know the person stopped next to you. Pedagogy can influence a lot of people, and help them understand things differently, some by their experiences, some by their way of thinking influenced by their past and others by their ambitions. Pragmatism which means to accomplish something in life, is done by education according to William James in his book, Pragmatism and Education. John Dewey promotes his belief that these kinds of active learning experiences are crucial for the mental growth of a child. Dewey suggests experiences such as taking children outside to explore nature and geography, and starting school gardens so children can learn about agriculture. Nonetheless, One of John Dewey s main objections to the traditional model of education involves its focus on curriculum over the individual student. John Dewey believed that the student should participate in their own learning, and that the student own motivation was a large factor in the amount the student would learn in school. Therefore, Dewey argued, the educational process should be tailored to the individual student in order to maximize the student s motivation to learn. One method of achieving this is to relate the curriculum to a subject of individual interest for the student. Another issue raised by John Dewey was the school s role not just as a place for students to gain academic knowledge, but as a place where for the learning of life skills and social behavior. Dewey thought that such general life skills and practical learning were just as important as the academic curriculum being taught. He also argued that the life lessons students learned during their education would be a key factor in social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the dictator Sulla died, he returned, and began his political career as a prosecuting advocate. He travelled to Rhodes for philosophical studies and, on the way, was kidnapped by pirates. He convinced his captors to raise his ransom, then organised a naval force, captured the pirates and put them to death. Caesar held a number of government positions under Pompey, and was elected consul in 60 BC. In 59 BC he also became governor of Gaul and Spain. In 55 BC he attempted an invasion of Britain. Three years later, in 52 BC, he defeated a union of Gauls. After defeating his former ally, Pompey, Caesar went on to Egypt, where he involved himself in upholding the rule of Cleopatra, with whom he had a son Caeserian .Caesar was made dictator for life in 45 BC and was called Father of his Country. • 12. The Gladiator VS. History Essay I m sure that many people have seen the movie the, Gladiator and thought that most if not all of it was true. Sadly this movie paints a picture that falls short of fact and leans more towards fiction. Winning 5 academy awards it is a hit with the audience but with historians a bust. This is mainly due to the inconsistencies revolving around character portrayals, events, and even characters that don t exist. I m sure that this is because the truth wouldn t fair as well as the movie did. Another mistake within this movie was showing Marcus Aurelis as only having 2 children, Lucilla and Commodus, but Marcus Aurelius actually had 13 children (Gill N.S.). Leaving off with the opening of this movie the biggest historical mistake overall revolves around the leading character and hero of this movie, Maximus. This is because he is entirely made up, he did not exist. So every event or action that involves him is false. Lucilla and he never had relations when they were younger, he didn t kill anyone, and he was not supposed to be the protector of Rome like they showed Marcus Aurelis wanting. Although Maximus may be a compilation of people who were real. For instance the man who did command the battle in the opening scene which most likely occured in 179 was Taruttiens Paternus. Also how he longed to be home and his family are from Claudius Pompeianus who was a military officer whose career resembled Maximus s (Ward). A short while after the opening scene we are transported to North African Zucchabar where yet more inaccuracies occur. The first being the misconception from the movie that Gladiator games had been banned by Maximus Aurelis. This is stated by the character Proximo who purchased Maximus to be one of his gladiators. • 13. Control and Treatment of Tuberculosis with DOTS Strategy Introduction Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the oldest diseases known to mankind, that despite the great achievements of human society still remains a major health problem. Because due to the socioeconomic problems and negligence in the treatment of tuberculosis, as well as HIV epidemy, in many countries there are a large number of smear positive patients often remain undiagnosed. On the other hand, patients failure to visit a physician after initiation of complaints, Lack of timely diagnosis and treatment by a physician, inadequate treatment, improper administration of anti TB drugs, patients financial problems in preparing medications, and patients inadequate information about their disease status and discontinuation the medication can lead to the creation of drug resistant cases of TB. Since 1993, World Health Organization has accepted the Directly Observed Treatment, Short course (DOTS) as a global strategy for TB control. It is estimated that each year about 10 8 million people become infected with TB and 3 2 million people die annually due to this disease. The World Health Organization has declared tuberculosis a global emergency and has recommended efforts to control the disease. From somewhat humble beginnings as a mere base of operations to keep the locals in check, it expanded to the most secure place in London, housing the Crown Jewels and important documents of state. The Tower of London has a dark history, though. Countless tales of prisoners being captured and interrogated through less than civil means call the Tower home. There are also accounts of murders, or speculated ones, as well, taking place within its walls. The most interesting one, in my opinion, is the Tale of the Two Princes. • 16. A Study on Conservative Resurgence Conservative Resurgence (Order #A2065848) For many years the Republican party and its conservative base was the central point of blame for the economic woes that had occurred in America during the Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and his liberal Democratic party were portrayed as the saviors of the United States economy and the only intellectual and political tradition that remained for America. However, the social excesses, political instability and economic turmoil that the liberals of the late 1960 s and early 1970 s created, led to a resurgence in conservative thinking. Americans began to reject the complete dependence on the government, and the inefficiency and corruption associated with it, in favor of a more independent and politically conservative way of thinking. As a result, 1980 saw the election of Ronald Reagan, a hard core conservative Republican as President of the United States. Reagan s victory over then President Jimmy Carter signaled a distinct resurgence in conservative values and political activity. In the 1950 s, Lionel Trilling, famous literary critic and writer, stated that in the United States at this time liberalism is not only the dominant but even the sole intellectual tradition. It is wrong. Aspartame is actually poison and many organisation are trying to make this product forbiden. It is not easy because of the financial importance of it. Again, Monsanto just thought about profit and don t care about the effect of this product. Moreover, why cattle growth hormone develloped by the company are forbiden in Canada and in Europe because it is considered as dangerous and unhealthy and very develloped in the United States? There is a lot of things wrong or doubtful around the Monsanto The image that Monsanto wants to give is to be environmentally friendly, promising better returns while promoting sustainable agriculture. It even gives the appearance of humanitarian organization focusing on world hunger. However, never a firm has been so controversial. It threatens food security but also the ecological balance of our planet. It is one of the biggest polluters ever. Corruption seems to be an important part of the way ... • 36. Comparing Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet; a classic tragedy of two lovers who cannot be together due to circumstances beyond their control. The story has been done by various movies, many of which change certain aspects in an attempt to breathe new life into this age old tale. In 1996, Director Baz Luhrman took the story and placed it in a modern setting where the two rival families are mafia families. This sounds like an interesting take on the story and it certainly was, but the movie turned out as a complete mess. The soundtrack is boring in every possible way. Almost every song is completely generic and forgettable and the ones that do stick out by any measure still fail to attain my interest for very long. Although the cinematography and editing was good for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For one, it remained mostly faithful the original work with some minor and somewhat humorous changes to better fit the modern setting. The dialogue was even left almost exactly how it was written by Shakespeare all those years ago, which was amusing at times, but it always sounded out of place. The acting was by far the best part of the whole movie. Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo and Claire Danes as Juliet played their parts to the best of their abilities and the best moments of the movie were when they were the only two in the scene. The others also played their parts well and if not for the outdated feel of the dialogue, it would almost seem as though all of it was something that had actually happened. If you are considering showing this to anyone studying Romeo and Juliet, you would be better off showing them any other movie. Students will not learn anything at all about the story by watching this as opposed to any other film adaptation. Although the movie remains somewhat faithful to the original Romeo and Juliet while adding an interesting twist to the story, there is almost no educational value to the movie. It is very likely that students will not understand most of what is going on here either because the story was not presented well, or because they are unable to take it ... • 37. The Importance Of Relative Fitness chosen genotype survives; but this must be the same as the probability that a randomly chosen individual survives, regardless of information on genotype. Relative fitness. The relative fitness of a genotype (w) equals to its absolute fitness when get normalized. In the most common normalization, the absolute fitness of each genotype is divided by the absolute fitness of the fittest genotype (Barton and Turelli, 1989), such that the fittest genotype has a relative fitness of one. We can also define a selection coefficient (s), a measure of how much worse the A2 allele is than A1. Mathematically, w2 = 1 s. Although the definition of relative fitness is simple, the mathematical relationship between absolute and relative fitness is subtle (Bazykin, 1969; Betzig, 1986 and Beatty, 2008). In particular, there is a curve of diminishing returns between these two quantities i.e., increasing the absolute fitness of a genotype by some amount has less effect on relative fitness (compared with the mean relative fitness) than does decreasing the relative fitness of the genotype by the same amount. The importance of mathematical implication of fitness is straightforward i.e., when zygotes attempt to mature, selection acts, killing some. Because a proportion (W1) of A1 individuals and a proportion (W2) of A2 individuals survive, the proportion of individuals that carry A1 after selection acts is pW1 / (pW1 + qW2) It follows that selection will increase the frequency of the fit A1 ... David Camm was arrested for the murder of his wife and two children in 2000. Several blood spatter specialist would be called to the stand to testify on the blood spatter evidence that was found in the crime scene with varying results. Most notably, Robert Stites, a blood spatter analyst from Portland Oregon credentials and capability would be called into question many times. Experience, knowledge and credibility of the blood spatter analyst as well as the blood evidence found at the scene led to overturning the conviction of David Camm. David Camm was an Indiana State Trooper who arrived home in September 2000 to find his wife and two children shot dead in their car. David Camm had been playing basketball with family and friends in a church gym, as he did every week. He left the church around 9:17pm, drove home, discovered the bodies and called the police in a span of 12 minutes. David s wife, Kimberly, and their children, 5 year old daughter Jill, and 7 year old son Brad were at swim class until 7 p.m before they arrived home (Fisher, 2013). David Camm became the police s prime suspect almost immediately. The police theorized that Camm had arrived home at 9:22, killed his family, disposed of the gun (it has not been recovered), cleaned up the crime scene, then called 911 (Fisher, 2013). However, upon closer examination of the crime scene, specifically the blood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare Charlotte Perkins Gilman s Turned with Thomas Hardy s A Withered Arm The short stories Turned by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and The Withered Arm by Thomas Hardy both have very different techniques and plots with which they aim to appeal to their audience. The opening of The Withered Arm immediately involves the reader. Adjectives are used to describe the initial setting, and so the image of the eighty cow dairy, and the troop of milkers, regular and supernumerary becomes clear. Hardy s emphasis on close description helps develop the scene, such as the image of the many forked pail stand resembling a colossal antlered horn . Later there is an introduction of the thin fading Rhoda Brooks, and so the author also creates interest in the origin of their differing lifestyles. Both Turned and The Withered Arm juxtapose two lifestyles, one that is superior to the other. Rhoda and her son are set in The Withered Arm as lying apart from the others , inhabiting a cottage with mud walls and a thatch that has a rafter showing like a bone protruding through the skin . When the reader hears of the handsome new gig returning from town as though after successful dealings , with a thriving farmer and a woman with soft and evanescent features , the apparent poverty and isolation of Rhoda and her son is in stark contrast. The implied wealth of Farmer Lodge and his new wife is highlighted by the previous suggestion of Rhoda s lack of money. Although within the same house, Gerta and Mrs Marroner clearly hold different positions. As the author describes Mrs Marroner, she includes details such as her reserved, superior, Boston bred life and trips to York Beach , and this emphasised that she is the mistress of the meek , docile and ignorant Gerta. The most thorough account of judicial practice would then have to go on to study the education and training of judges, and their embedding within a particular culture or cultures of legal behaviour. What are the consequences of this argument? If practices are essentially ways of acting in given circumstances, any general theory may be too distant from the practice to capture how judges actually interpret cases. Judicial interpretation is always a matter of a specific case and a singular set of facts. To understand why a judge in a particular case comes to a particular conclusion necessitates a study of a precise legal context. In other words, a general account of precedent perhaps tells us more about the practice of academic writing than it does about the work of judges. It may be that the best way to understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to abandon any general account, and to see how it proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This would indicate that the best way to understand the practice of precedent is to study cases within their specific contexts†. † Precedence and judicial creativity However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching concerns that structure judicial practice. The historical beginnings of the present doctrine of precedent obscure the extent to which judicial practice is creative. • 43. Misogyny Pervades The Picture Aeschylus Sophocles ... Misogyny pervades the picture Aeschylus, Aristophanes, and Sophocles paint of Athenian society. In their literature, however, female characters catalyze plot by challenging this picture. Such characters from Sophocles Antigone to Aristophanes Lysistrata face grim consequences for acting independently. Clytemnestra and Cassandra from Aeschylus s Agamemnon exemplify this archetype of autonomy and destruction. When they confront injustice, male characters perceive them as vindictive and hysterical. This paper will compare the standards of justice Aeschylus s society imposes on men and women. I will argue that Clytemnestra and Cassandra are protectors of divine justice who reject subservience and thereby transcend the sexism of their society. The women in Agamemnon are as powerful as men but slaves to the divine. Clytemnestra s early sacrifices parallel her vengeful slaughter of Agamemnon. After Clytemnestra makes sacrifices in celebration of Greece s victory, the chorus cries, hope glows through your victims (Agamemnon, 658). They reference both hope for Greece s victory and hope for avenging Iphigenia s death. Sacrifices of thanksgiving make Clytemnestra an ambassador of victory and the sacrifice of Agamemnon makes her an ambassador of Justice. Agamemnon s slaughter is an act in the name of heavenly Justice; it is a retributive sacrifice to Fate. Despite its moral significance, the murder of the war hero invokes a cycle of death within the house of Agamemnon. Like the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This came from Khan, at its time it was not called state and federal law, At the time Khan had in motion the use of The Great Law, in modern age this would be the federal law. A law to rule over all territories under Khans control and he was also a fair leader. People had self rule if they stayed loyal to the Mongols and common people felt some sort of benefit from this. They never participated in hostage taking or ransoms but would kill the leader and allow for the common people to have a voice. Journalists, however, have access to an abundance of resources, including multiple sets of guidelines, which can help them make a difficult decision about an ethical dilemma. Kraepelin considered dementia praecox as a biological illness caused by anatomical or toxic processes (Lehmann, 1997).
