Agriculture Myths And Facts
Agriculture Myths and Facts
Melissa Clark
Murray State University
Over the years agricultural industries, especially the food industry, have developed negative
reputations, all due to made up myths that people have chosen to believe in. Some of those myths
include: farmers are trying to hide the way they run their businesses, the food system is controlled by
select large corporations more worried about money than consumer satisfaction, and crops that are not
affected by herbicides are bad because they remain normal when treated. Many of these allegations
come from people who are poorly educated of how the food industry works. Let s see if we can clear
up a few things and get our facts straight.
One way the food industry s name has declined over the past years is that people believe farmers are
trying to hold sometime of veil over our eyes to distract us from how our food is actually raised,
processed, and sold. People assume that just because a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is a false statement because farmers use herbicides to prevent an overpopulation of weeds to
grow among their crops so a minimum amount of tillage is necessary to maintain the crop.
Meanwhile, there may be a microscopic effect on the crop itself, but most plants aren t bothered by
herbicides. Due to the lack of knowledge people have refused to eat some products because they
believe it is greatly affected by insecticides.
Most myths are produced from the ignorance of some people who don t know how their food is grown
and what process is used to make sure it is healthy. Hopefully this essay opens your eyes at least a
little bit to the truths and facts about the food industry. This particular industry has taken hard hits due
to false accusations from people who don t know any better. With the spread of the truth the name of
the food industry could be

Brick Lane Research Paper
Despite numerous studies that show the importance of risk taking in the development of children,
nowadays, very few are the playgrounds which provide opportunities for risk and a relative danger. A
difference has to be made between the idea of risk and the one of danger. In fact, if danger has to be
avoided, risk in a playground is essential to children development, it is what will help them to adapt
and be prepared to an unexpected environment when they will grow up. Brick Lane Playscape project
is about designing a playground which implements the notions of risk and wilderness in the urban
context of Brick Lane, London, to allow children to challenge themselves and to go wild as much as
they want. Due to its prominent location, close to Liverpool

How The Influence Of Blizzards And Snow Storms
Blizzards and snow storms are nothing new to South Dakota winters. Every year, we embrace the cold
weather to continue many hobbies we enjoy including sledding, building snow forts, skiing, and even
just sitting at home drinking hot cocoa. Not much can stop production around here, until the ice storm
towards the end of December in 2016 hit Ipswich and the surrounding areas hard. Roads, homes,
vehicles, and power lines were iced over. Power wasn t reliable at this time and many were without
heat as well. People were left wondering how we would bounce back. With the help of the community,
the city, and FEM, the ice was taken care of with relative ease. The community and the city helped salt
the roads and get transportation going while FEM got

Tic! Tic! Tic! Jerry was about to go down. The best moment of his life. His best friend was right next
to him about to experience the same as he. Ah! It was all a dream. He woke up and ran downstairs

ate his breakfast he was excited to get a call from his best friend John who had a lot of
questions. Finally John asked, Can you go to the amusement park today? Jerry replied fast as lightning,
I ll ask my Mom. Jerry bolted out of his room to the living room. He finds his mom lying on the couch

Jerry ran up the stairs and started cleaning his room. He was so excited he almost forgot to tell his

For humans to go faster than they have ever gone before they had to research many different things
spend both money and time to finally reach this goal and this paper will take you through that process
of research done for that goal to be reached. With the possibility of faster flight people will always
want to see how fast they can push the aircraft they design. The development and research that went
into the aircrafts that helped break the sound barrier, took a long time and many people co operation.
But after many years of research and testing with several different types of aircrafts they were able to
succeed in producing an aircraft that could surpass the sound barrier and bring us into a new era of
flight. The ideas on how to get an aircraft up to the speed and the designs of many researcher had to
come together in order for this feat to be accomplished. From the engineering stages of the project to
the research on how the air around the aircraft will react to an object moving through it to at such high
speeds and the equipment that needed to be made that can used during the flight all had to be crated

Why Nuclear Weapons are Essential
Out of all the dangerous powers and authority our government wields, possibly the most threatening
powers are nuclear weapons. People tend to be frightened by things they do not understand, which
make nuclear weapons a perfect catalyst for fear. These weapons have the most overwhelming and
destructive power known to man; although, nuclear weapons are only safe in countries that try to
maintain harmony and stability. Nuclear weapons are defined as explosive devices whose destructive
potential derives from the release of energy that accompanies the splitting or combining of atomic
nuclei. This power is both dangerous and unstable in the hands of small erratic countries. At this time
treaties and laws between the United States and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, nuclear scientists have been approached by a number of non state actors, including terrorist
parties. The threat of these miniscule, radical, and highly unstable groups obtaining nuclear power
increases daily. Should terrorist groups obtain the information needed to produce nuclear weapons not
only the United States, but also the entire world will be put at dire risk. Nuclear Deterrence is a
preventative strategy to assure the protection of a country in the event of a nuclear attack.
Nuclear weapons exist to keep peace between all nations, and to defend the nations they are housed in.
The power of these weapons should only be used as a last resort to maintain order and balance in the
world. To prevent nuclear attack powerful nations such as China, Russia, and the United States
stockpile nuclear weapons to assure retaliation in the event of nuclear war. Strategic nuclear
prevention works for numerous reasons. One reason is that nations are afraid of nuclear retaliation.
Avoidance also helps to maintain the equilibrium of power between nations without nuclear weapons.
The danger associated with the use of nuclear weaponry is often enough to keep nations from using
their weapons. All countries must decide if the interests causing them to use nuclear weapons are
worth the risk. Smaller, less developed countries may feel threatened due to their lack of nuclear
power when compared to more powerful

Computing Machinery And Intelligence By Alan Turing
In his paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing sets out to answer the question of
whether machines can think in the same humans can by conceptualizing the question in concrete
terms. In simple terms, Turing redefines the question by posing whether a machine can replicate the
cognition of a human being. Yet, some may object to the notion that Turing s new question effectively
captures the nature of machines capacity for thought or consciousness, such as John Searle. In his
Chinese room thought experiment, Searle outlines a scenario that implies machines apparent
replication of human cognition does not yield conscious understanding. While Searle s Chinese
thought experiment demonstrates how a Turing test is not sufficient to establish that a machine can
possess consciousness or thought, this argument does not prove that machines are absolutely incapable
of consciousness or thought. Rather, given the ongoing uncertainty of the debate regarding the
intelligence of machines, there can be no means to confirm or disconfirm the conscious experience of
machines as well as the consciousness of humans by extension of that principle. In attempting to
answer the question of whether machines are able to think, Turing redesigns the question around the
notion of machines effectiveness at mimicking human cognition. Turing proposes to gauge such
effectiveness by a variation of an imitation game, where a man and a woman are concealed from an
interrogator who makes

Hagia Julia Research Paper
When we regularly take a look at old sanctuaries, we pick up this sort of warm feeling in our souls,
influencing us to address ourselves the entirety of its reality, how it remained to become, and what the

significance of the sanctuary, making it more exceptional than what we definitely know about it. We

The building started in 532, and it is said that the Emperor Justinian himself assumed responsibility of
the work. The pendentives of Hagia Sophia lay on four immense docks, or columns, which have lead
rather than mortar between the stones. The great central dome is 107 feet (32.6 meters) across and 180
feet (55 meters high). To make it lighter, the dome was made of an exceptional light brick brought
from the island of Rhodes. Amid the ensuing nine hundred years of the Byzantine Empire, the dome
endured another two scenes of fractional crumple. The fundamental structure as well as the optional
zones was definitely adjusted numerous times giving the building the appearance that it has today. The
builders upheld the dome on two sides with half domes and on the other two sides with arches, to
ensure that it would not collapse. The splendor of Hagia Sophia additionally originates from its color.
The columns, taken from each side of the Empire, are of stone and marble of a wide range of hues,
including blue, green, and blood red. The floor is secured with marble mosaics and the walls shine

Abstract
Coaching and leadership seem to be synonymous with each other, in that if you re a high caliber coach
you must be a great leader, how else would you have achieved your success. While coaching in the
NCAA division 1 basketball the goal is to win national championships, while also being a mentor to
your students. Bobby Knight is a great basketball legend at Indiana, with a past of outrageous
unacceptable behavior to the fans and to players, while also having one of the best collegiate records

(Bob Carter) Integrity is the ability of a leader to live and lead with some principles and take
responsibility for their actions. The ability to possess integrity should build confidence in your team.
Integrity is probably where the two coaches will separate their styles of leadership. Coach Knight
through the years did several things to damage that integrity, through his actions in Panama or ways he
degraded assistant coaches or lecturing teams with the use of props of soiled toilet paper. There were
many times where his actions did not represent the role which he was given and he made little effort to
change unless he was forced. Coach K built much of what he was on his integrity; he stuck up for his
players many times. Once his team was graded by the student paper, it was the fact that the paper
portrayed the players as instruments of entertainment and ego indulgence; this infuriated the coach,
which he later apologized. What Coach K stood for was a caring, communication and trust within the
team, and that was what he wanted for the whole student body, and why his fan base was so strong.
The last important trait style of leadership is the ability for a leader to seek out good pleasant social
relationships. The leader should be thought of as friendly, outgoing, courteous, tactful and diplomatic.
Coach Knight, I believe, started out his career with these traits as

Theme Of Corruption In The Chocolate War
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power (John Steinbeck). This
quote directly compares to the book, The Chocolate Wars that tells an extraordinary story about a boy,
Jerry Renault who rebells against the dictators of the school, The Vigils and the corrupted staff. Jerry s
rebellion leads him to his doom in an organized fight watched by the school showing the student body
how dangerous power really is. In the book, The Chocolate War, the author, Robert Cormier portrays
the uneasy lesson of how simple it is for power to corrupt people into dangerous, manipulating rulers
by revealing the lack of jurisdiction the student body possesses, by developing awareness of the power
of The Vigils, the supremacy of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without The Vigils, Trinity might have been torn apart like other schools had been, by demonstrations,
protests, all that crap (Cormier, 27). Another time Cormier reveals to the reader the dangerous
dictators is in the quote, Were teachers like everyone else, then? Were teachers as corrupt as the
villains you read about in books or saw in movies and television? (Cormier, 107). In the first situation
the text undoubtedly shows how in control The Vigils are. The group looks down upon expressing
your opinion and equality of the people. Their leader, Archie Costello, assumes that without their
supreme authority over the school, the school would fall apart, which is false to begin with. The first
quote just shows how dangerous and how easy it is for the wrong person to become powerful. In a
similar fashion, the second quote highlights the unscrupulous staff member, Brother Leon. After Jerry
became aware of Brother Leon s alliance with The Vigils he made the remark comparing teachers to
corrupt villains. Without a doubt, Jerry s comparison directly supports the author s

George Orwell s Dystopian Novel
It is often debated why populations under totalitarian regimes allow the ten percent minority to control
the massive ninety percent majority with such inhumane tactics. Although the goals of individual
regimes vary on their end goal, the means of achieving that goal are strikingly similar. From the
distribution of propaganda exaggerating national progress, using food and necessary aid as incentive
to increase productivity, to imposing nationwide terror through the deadly pursuit of enemies to the
regime, the blatant commonality between these oppressors is their inventive ways of using fear and
tapping into the human survival instinct to keep the population at bay. These tactics can be seen at
work in George Orwell s dystopian novel 1984 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winston outlines the predicted economic growth set to occur per Big Brother s multi year plan; The
Times of the nineteenth of December had published the official forecasts of the output of goods of
various classes of consumption goods in the fourth quarter of 1984, which was also the sixth quarter
of the Ninth Three Year Plan. (Orwell 39). Orwell incorporates the multi year plan strategy as a direct
parody of Stalin s tactics during the rise of communism; this tactic has not only been parodied, but
legitimately recreated in other totalitarian regimes like Ethiopia s Dergue regime. Ethiopian scholar
Bahru Zewde summarizes the Dergue version of this tactic, stating, In October 1978, the Derg
announced the National Revolutionary Development Campaign to mobilize human and material
resources to transform the economy, which led to a Ten Year Plan (Zewde). These totalitarian
governments employ multi year plans for economic growth because they serve as a point of structure
and growth in an otherwise chaotic government setting. The majority of citizens are too perplexed
with maintaining their own livelihood that they cannot see the failures of these plans. They all fall to
conformity, accepting that their government s plans are benefitting them when they clearly are not. For
those with the lowest quality of life, they view the plan as the silver lining to their situation as they
blindly follow orders to increase production for

Effects Of Betrayal In The Renaissance
The end of the Middle Ages and the flowering of the Renaissance brought many shifts to European
societal structure. The face of Christianity changed considerably from the fourteenth century to the
mid sixteenth century, beginning with disagreement over who should hold absolute power, the Pope or
the Holy Roman Emperor. While the corporate Catholic church had once maintained a fairly unified
influence on society, a more nuanced form of Christianity began developing, leading to reformed
religious groups with opposing views, namely the Protestants and Anglicans. In the wake of differing
opinions, people s group identification determined what people they sided with and who they wouldn t
tolerate. With more complex religious and political perspectives, people could distance themselves
ideologically from peers, family, and leaders. Frequent mentions of treacherous actions within the
literature of this time demonstrates that these differing views made people feel betrayed by their
associates. The idea of betrayal is prominent in the lives and texts of several authors of this period,
including Dante, Thomas More, and Niccolò Machiavelli. From a Christian perspective, betrayal was
a grave sin befitting serious punishment, while it was irrational from a Humanist perspective and an
inevitable, even beneficial part of mankind from an amoral perspective. During the tumultuous
political and religious climate of the High Middle Ages and Renaissance, conflicting sociopolitical
groupings and

that Spain never acquired sovereignty over North Borneo [see Madrid Protocol] to transfer all its

Malcolm Knowles Adult Learning Theory
The chosen learner is Jake s mother, Jennifer. Her cognitive developmental level, according to Piaget,
is formal operations (Hemmelgarn, 2011). Accordingly, she has most likely advanced from using
logical reasoning with concrete examples (concrete operations) to abstract thinking. The impact this
might have on her learning is that she should be encouraged to be self directed and autonomous as she
educates herself about her son s diabetes. A review of the information obtained can e reviewed and
expanded upon with the educator. At this developmental stage, she is internally motivated and may
rely on previous experiences (Bastable, 2014). In conversations, the educator should inquire as to her
thoughts and feelings and offer guidance as needed. It will be important for the educator to give
Jennifer direction and support as she begins this process of learning about her son s disease.
An appropriate theory for organizing Jennifer s learning would be Malcolm Knowles Adult Learning
Theory. The rationale that Malcolm Knowles Adult Learning Theory would be appropriate for Jennifer
is that the four principles of adult learning identified by Knowles are congruent with the life situation
she is now faced (Pappas, 2013). As an adult and a mother of a child diagnosed with diabetes, she
needs to be involved in the planning of her learning to make it pertinent and meaning to her; her
previous life and learning experiences need to be recognized; she will be most interested in

The Third And Final Constant Factor Essay
The third and final constant factor originates directly as a result of the anarchic international
environment. As stated, a state acts largely in its own best interest. However, given more than one
state exists, multiple interests oftentimes intersect. Competition, the final constant, results from this
intersection. Rarely, this competition spins out of control into armed conflict. Prior to engaging in war,
a state must carefully weigh any potential benefits against likely costs. Mearsheimer defines this as
calculated aggression. Most likely, state level competition remains at a level lower than war. Over
time, state power balances develop and eventually solidify. Most importantly, state competition, a state
s prevailing interest to secure an improved chance for its continued survival, remains firmly in place.
Seen in this light, both Waltz and Gilpin s arguments for modifying or upending this balance make
better sense. Waltz argues that the international structure limits state behavior. A state can pursue its
interest only so far as to not upset the international balance. Gilpin steps past Waltz concluding a state
can choose to remake the balance if it decides its benefits outweigh expected costs. One could view
Gilpin as a balanced (no pun intended) medium between Mearsheimer s aggression and Waltz s
caution. Despite their respective differences, in prescribing to a realist philosophy, Mearsheimer, Walz,
and Gilpin would each conclude persistent state

Julius Caesar Flaws
Out of the many flaws that Julius Caesar had, one of the largest flaws that he had was his pride and his
ambition. Having both of these attributes led to him being power hungry as well. For the most part
Shakespeare s play focuses on the idea of Julius being power hungry for immortality. Despite his
several flaws he is still able to be considered a hero for several different reasons. For one, he
recognized his flaw, he was aware of what was thought of him because he saw it that way himself. As

he was even warned by a crystal gazer by saying beware the ides of March. (Act 1, Scene 2, line 23)
Although Caesar was warned he could careless just because his arrogance got the best of him,

The Causes And Effects Of Human Trafficking In Michigan
Human Trafficking in Michigan It is dark outside, and you are driving back home from work. Your
stomach starts to growl from hunger, so you decide to take the next exit to get something to eat. The
town you stop at is a little creepy, but your hunger is unbearable. You pull into the parking lot, and
start walking to the door. You are immediately followed by two guys slightly larger than you. You start
to walk faster, but unfortunately they catch up and are now standing in front of you. You are scared
because they are taking you back to their car. What is going to happen to you? Why are there not more
police patrolling this area at night? Why is this happening to me? Human trafficking can happen in a
blink of an eye especially when people are doing everyday things. According to The Michigan
Department of Health and Human Services it is known to be the second largest criminal enterprise
after drugs. There are many forms of trafficking such as human trafficking, sex trafficking, and labor
trafficking. ( Human Trafficking )
Michigan has seen a sixteen percent increase in reported human trafficking cases. Polaris, an
organization that helps fight human trafficking across the globe, released the data from the National
Human Trafficking Resource Center, stating that there were 152 Michigan Human Trafficking cases
reported in 2015. They included 122 of sex trafficking and 18 cases of labor trafficking. In 2014, 131

Urban Legends Essay
We have all heard of strange and gory stories that are supposedly true, experienced by a friend of a
friend. Whether true or not these so called urban legends tend to circulate throughout society thriving
on each individual s fears and curiosity. What most people don t realize is, within these tales lies the
attitudes and values of a community. These tales do not survive throughout the years solely on the
basis of their entertainment level, but due to the fact that they reflect society s fears and anxieties. In
dissecting these tales one can indefinitely find the social fallacy against females that has existed for
decades, as well as the fears women have against men. However, more importantly, the values that
society hold are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not very often, because it is uncommon. Males are accepted to be able to protect themselves against
such crimes, because they are strong physically and mentally. This tale also implies that females often
play the role of the victim while males are the perpetrator of these violent crimes. The predator male
seeks and stalks its innocent female prey. If Jane was a man then the story would seem less frightening
and interesting. However she is a female whose antagonist is a demented and neurotic male, thus
greater fear and anxiety is created. This dominant attitude, though sexist, is a recurring theme that has
existed in our society for centuries and continues to prevail till this day. The theme of violence is a
popular route for most urban legends. Violence can mean the threat of one s life to the threat of one s
innocence. Society dearly values life, whether due to religious or cultural influences life is sacred and
precious. Thus when hearing of others life threatening stories it gets the heart racing. That could
happen to me. This connection is immediate because it asks for no suspension of belief. That is, it is
very possible that the tale has some truth to it and that the actions of the tale are quite believable,
distinct, and real.

Invasive Species And Its Effects On The Environment
All of our Earth s ecosystems are fragile. The transfer of energy and the interactions within them are
kept in frail balance by nature, similar to a tightrope walker balancing themself at a height of a few
hundred metres. What would happen if that tightrope walker lost his balance and fell? Similarly, what
would happen if a species arrives at a foreign ecosystem? If a non native species negatively affects its
environment, then it is considered an invasive, or alien, species. The human society is in crisis.
Invasive species cause the damage of the native environment. They are one of the causes for the
decline in the human economy. The invasive species also negatively hinder our health. This
phenomenon is occurring in a global scale, impacting Lake Victoria in Africa to the Oak Ridges
Moraine in Canada. People are trying to use different techniques to control the introduction of
invasive species and negate their impact on the native environment. Invasive species are a threat to
their foreign environment and should be prevented from causing further damage. When mentioning
the term invasive species , its definition is ambiguous when taken out of context. It is when a non
native organism, or group thereof, negatively influences its introduced environment. From this
definition, any species on Earth has the potential to be dubbed an invasive species (Environment
Yukon, 2014). Thus, an invasive species can be found anywhere on Earth, and has occurred the

Importance Of Sam In The Catskills
Sam had used many skills to survive in the Catskills. Some of them are kind of hard to do, but others
are simple. Three of the skills Sam had learned to use are burning out the inside of trees, making
makeshift fishing poles and finding his own bait, and finally making his own wooden instruments.
Sam used these in the story but that doesn t mean that they are actually possible. Also, some people
would ve used the same skills, but in their own ways. There are many skills Sam used, some were
burning out the inside of his tree to make room to live in, some helped him to gather food, and some
helped him to simply stay inside of a happy mood. The first skill I ve chosen is the technique Sam

Some of these skills I personally wouldn t use. I would definitely use the burning out the trees
technique because you never know when you will have to clear out a road block or the entrance to a

something then see it work well, plus I like doing entertaining things. For the instrument technique I
just probably wouldn t use it. I m not really a band person and It s not as useful as makeshift fishing
poles so I probably wouldn t use it. Next are the modifications I would use on the skills. Instead of just
randomly burning the inside of a tree into flames I would try and make separate parts of the tree. So if
one part of the tree goes into flames accidently I don t burn the whole tree down. Also for the fishing I
would try to make stronger or more advanced fishing poles and hooks. I would also test out different
bait than just worms. I would see which fish like a certain bug or bait. Then when I go fishing I would
see which fish I want to catch, then I would use that specific bait and have a better chance of catching
the fish I wanted. These may be how I would prefer using the skills, but how would you prefer them

Experimental Protocol The hypothesis is if the organisms were exposed to pollution then they will act
differently and scared in the habitat. For the experiment the independent variable was the pollution
that was added into the habitat, and the dependent variable was the reactions of the organisms from the
pollution by adding trash to the environment. For the experiment the things that were controlled were
the amount of the water in the habitat. Also how clean the water stayed was controlled as well as how
much food the organisms got. These things make a good control group because if they are not

The Impacts Of Premarital Sex And Cohabitation On Marriage

The Impacts of Premarital Sex and Cohabitation on Marriage
Becoming popular from the 1950s until now, premarital sex and premarital cohabitation have been
considered as the norms in the United States. While most people agree that premarital sex is one of the
ways to find out whether the couple is perfect for each other, others incline its consequences. Because
the United States is described as the Salad Bowl, in which numerous ethnicities, religions, and
cultures are not assimilable, it exists some different perceptions about sex out of marriage. By
reviewing the reasons and pointing the consequences of having sex and living together before
marriage, it is obvious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Defending the judgment that premarital sex and cohabitation is acceptable and permissible, people
who had sex before their marriage or just agree with it expound some reasons. First of all, living
together and sex outside marriage have been increasing because of social pressure. In a community, a
person who does not follow common norms is abnormal. According to the research in 2011, Mashau
learned that a person would be seen as stupid, rural, and sophisticated without participating in
premarital sex as his/her peers. It means that some people might neither agree nor disagree with
premarital sex, yet they try to simulate what most people do in order to be normal . Giving another
reason to protect their opinion, people believe having sex and living together before marriage help
them be ready for marriage. Marriage is the most important event in a person s life; thus, everyone
wants to find a fitting spouse with whom they are going to live in the rest of the life. They worried a
wrong decision will destroy their marriage, even their life. The contribution of premarital sex and
cohabitation is a suitable choice which not only helps the couples understand each other but also gets
their relationship closer. The couples believe engaging in sex and living together before marriage are
the processes which they are more likely experience the needs of marriage than the couples did not. As
a result, the couples that think they

Nuclear Weapons During The Cold War
Since the invention of nuclear weapons, they have presented the world with a significant danger, one
that was shown in reality during the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. However, nuclear weapons
have not only served in combat, but they have also played a role in keeping the world peaceful by the
concept of deterrence. The usage of nuclear weapons would lead to mutual destruction and during the
Cold War, nuclear weapons were necessary to maintain international security, as a means of
deterrence. However, by the end of the Cold War, reliance on nuclear weapons for maintaining peace
became increasingly difficult and less effective (Shultz, et. al, 2007). The development of technology

Additionally, it also presents perspectives on important policies and strategies of Iran and North
Korea, in regard to the development of their armory of nuclear weapons.
Since the end of the Cold War, the cases of nuclear proliferation in Iran and North Korea have
gathered enormous international attention. Iran s nuclear program appeared as a result of the Cold War
alliance between the United States and the late Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. In 2003, Iran
was suspected of developing a military nuclear capability and is now developing medium and
intermediate ballistic missiles, which are capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. On the other hand,
North Korea set off a nuclear device and declared suspicions about a military nuclear program in
2006. Iran and North Korea have recently started cooperation to develop multi stage ballistic missiles
and have conducted several missile flight tests over the last few years (Schmid, 2008).
With sources dating back to the late 1960s, North Korea s nuclear weapons program has expanded to
be a useful instrument of the government s security. Its principal motivations for developing the
nuclear weapons are as follows: to block foreign pressure, create an international impact and preserve
the terms and conditions of the DPRK (ruling party of North Korea). In contrast, Iran s motivations to
develop strategic weapons appear to be more complex than that of North Korea. Iran s efforts to

Extensive Reading And Intensive Reading
10. Extensive reading vs. Intensive reading
Many studies have been conducted to distinguish extensive reading from intensive reading. For
instance, Uden (2003) states that extensive reading imitates reading in the first language in the way
that its key elements are purpose and pleasure. It is based on easy material that is chosen by the
learner to build language fluency and. ER allows learners to process language faster and improves
comprehension. While, intensive reading refers to the careful reading of the material with the goal of
complete and detailed understanding. Moreover, it is associated with the teaching of reading in terms
of its components skill, i.e. distinguishing the main idea of the text, reading for gist.

14. The relationship between reading and writing
Over the past years, reading was the main focus rather than writing. In Britain, for example, in the
eighteen and the nineteen centuries Foggart (cited in Tribble, 1996, p.11) pointed out, it is desirable
that the majority should read in the way they can be given instructions and can be educated into a
particular ideology, writing on the other hand assume the giving instructions and the formation of
views about society . These two skills are viewed as separated skills because reading is passive and
writing is productively one; however, these two language skills are complementary and can be closely
developed. As Johnson (2008, p.07) believes that the relationship between these two skills is that
reading helps learners become better writer, by making them in contact with the rules of grammar,
consequently they develop the language structure, grammar and increase their vocabulary; hence,
reading in the writing classroom is understood as the appropriate input for the acquisition of writing
skill since it is believed that reading passages will somehow function as primary model for which
writing skill can be learned, or at least inferred (Eisterhold, 1990,

Why Do Grizzly Bears Live
The Ursus Arctos otherwise known as the grizzly bear lives in North America around Northern
Canada, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. A grizzly bear lives in the wild and hunts for its food
such as fish, deer, elk, or any other animal. They live inside of caves for protection from the weather,
they will also live under trees or anything that will provide them shelter. I believe that grizzly s have
evolved into animals that can survive in many climates and environments.
Grizzly Bears have a hump on their shoulders and a concave face. Their claws are 2 4 inches long,

They also have to deal with man made disasters like oil spills or fires, both can kill bears and kill what
they eat like fish which could then kill the bears if they can not eat enough food because their immune
system will deteriorate and kill them. Grizzly Bears are divergent because recent studies have shown
that some grizzly bear s mothers are polar bears and fathers are grizzly bears. This means that the
fathers travel long distances to mate with mother polar bears. The most recent studies have suggested
that they have been divergent from about 150,000 years ago. (Tia Ghose) Past research revealed that

Essay on The Lonely Death of Public Campaign Financing
Marquette University s Assistant Professor of Law, Richard Esenberg, is doubtful of the effectiveness
of a project that will restructure campaign finance. He foresees the near impossibility of the passage of
a bill, along with many drawbacks in similar attempts to miraculously restore democracy to American
citizens. Although this is a greatly debated and doubtful topic, there is still hope in the power of the
people. While there may be instances where wealthy donors provide a better democratic election, in a
land of the people; the majority of the voting population should control the few politicians that run the
government.
Esenberg s beginning argument relies strongly on the evidence that the money spent on campaign

Although this is only a small difference, it has major ramifications for the amount of money that is
desirable for donors to give. This, in effect, could mean that the idea of the limit itself is more
powerful than the actual limit set.
Esenberg goes on to reiterate that the Supreme Court s ruling on candidate fundraising; stating that the
ability for candidates to bring in donations is considered a legal advantage amongst candidates
(Esenberg, 2010). Limiting this ability would benefit the candidates that are not strong in gathering
donations. This is solely based on the communicating and networking factor of candidates. Reducing
the power of candidates would allow the media to have a greater impact on the public donations
(Esenberg, 2010). The small donors in the public are the ideologically committed union members,
which are currently having their influence felt through the donations of larger corporations and
Political Action Committees, debates Esenberg (Esenberg, 2010). Incumbents are also the ones who
create the campaign finance rules that govern the process, so he foresees the unlikelihood of
incumbents being willing to set rules that will make it harder to retain their seats (Esenberg, 2010).
For this, the validity of the court s decision surrounding the Campaign Finance Reform Act must be
put into question. Corruption is the root of any ruling to

Self-Esteem And Self Esteemcy
Build their self esteem, self determination and efficacy
From the different challenges identified, it was established that adolescent girls were often confronted
with many identity conflicts and low self esteem. It was during the adolescent stage that many girls
experience new societal expectations and responsibilities, which often resulted in identity confusion or
internal conflict that needed to be resolved during adolescence. Consequently, the best ways of
engaging girls were to first build their self esteem, self determination, self efficacy and confidence.
According to Powell (2004), by being supportive and giving tasks and challenges that raise self
esteem, adolescent girls may be able to have success in school and develop self motivation. Powell
(2004) stressed the need for supportive environments and the need to allow adolescents to develop
their own unique identities. According to Erickson (1968), adolescents were often at the fifth
psychosocial stage of human development. This stage was called Identity versus Identity Confusion.
According to Erickson, if adolescents were not allowed to explore their new roles and follow a future
positive path, they may remain confused about their identity. Resolving conflicts during adolescence,
according to Erickson, assists adolescents to become who they would be, unique individual,
progressing further into higher developmental stages. Erickson noted that for adolescents to become
autonomous, their self concept and self esteem

Homeschooling And Traditional Classroom Education
Compare and Contrast Homeschooling and Traditional Classroom Education
People can choose to get homeschooling or not in the 1970s, some famous writer started write relative
innovation at the same time ( Homeschooling 101 , 2012). There are now more than two million
children being homeschooled in the U.S., with the percentage rapidly increasing by 7 percent to 15
percent each year, according to the National Home Education Research Institute ( Homeschooling
101, 2012). Maybe we can find that homeschooling is becoming more popular than traditional school,
but the truth is, most children still choose to study in traditional school. We could not ignore that it is
hard and laborious for parents to teach their own child at home, although the child could learn a great
deal under the homeschooling. If they send their child to traditional school, more time could be saved
and the parent could improve themselves and be an example for their child. For instance, participating
in the activities with other kids and learning from them for comparison. Furthermore, attending
traditional school could save a ton of money for kids to use it on other skill learning. Whatever the
parent decides to do either the homeschooling or send their children to the traditional school, there is
no denying that children can learn things. From textbook knowledge, on average, home schoolers

  • 2. Agriculture Myths And Facts Agriculture Myths and Facts Melissa Clark Murray State University Over the years agricultural industries, especially the food industry, have developed negative reputations, all due to made up myths that people have chosen to believe in. This particular industry has taken hard hits due to false accusations from people who don t know any better. With the spread of the truth the name of the food industry could be ... Brick Lane Playscape project is about designing a playground which implements the notions of risk and wilderness in the urban context of Brick Lane, London, to allow children to challenge themselves and to go wild as much as they want. • 4. How The Influence Of Blizzards And Snow Storms Blizzards and snow storms are nothing new to South Dakota winters. Every year, we embrace the cold weather to continue many hobbies we enjoy including sledding, building snow forts, skiing, and even just sitting at home drinking hot cocoa. Not much can stop production around here, until the ice storm towards the end of December in 2016 hit Ipswich and the surrounding areas hard. Roads, homes, vehicles, and power lines were iced over. Power wasn t reliable at this time and many were without heat as well. People were left wondering how we would bounce back. With the help of the community, the city, and FEM, the ice was taken care of with relative ease. The community and the city helped salt the roads and get transportation going while FEM got ... With the possibility of faster flight people will always want to see how fast they can push the aircraft they design. The development and research that went into the aircrafts that helped break the sound barrier, took a long time and many people co operation. But after many years of research and testing with several different types of aircrafts they were able to succeed in producing an aircraft that could surpass the sound barrier and bring us into a new era of flight. The ideas on how to get an aircraft up to the speed and the designs of many researcher had to come together in order for this feat to be accomplished. From the engineering stages of the project to the research on how the air around the aircraft will react to an object moving through it to at such high speeds and the equipment that needed to be made that can used during the flight all had to be crated for this to work (John D. People tend to be frightened by things they do not understand, which make nuclear weapons a perfect catalyst for fear. These weapons have the most overwhelming and destructive power known to man; although, nuclear weapons are only safe in countries that try to maintain harmony and stability. The threat of these miniscule, radical, and highly unstable groups obtaining nuclear power increases daily. Should terrorist groups obtain the information needed to produce nuclear weapons not only the United States, but also the entire world will be put at dire risk. Nuclear Deterrence is a preventative strategy to assure the protection of a country in the event of a nuclear attack. Nuclear weapons exist to keep peace between all nations, and to defend the nations they are housed in. The power of these weapons should only be used as a last resort to maintain order and balance in the world. To prevent nuclear attack powerful nations such as China, Russia, and the United States stockpile nuclear weapons to assure retaliation in the event of nuclear war. Strategic nuclear prevention works for numerous reasons. One reason is that nations are afraid of nuclear retaliation. Avoidance also helps to maintain the equilibrium of power between nations without nuclear weapons. The danger associated with the use of nuclear weaponry is often enough to keep nations from using their weapons. All countries must decide if the interests causing them to use nuclear weapons are worth the risk. • 10. Computing Machinery And Intelligence By Alan Turing In his paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing sets out to answer the question of whether machines can think in the same humans can by conceptualizing the question in concrete terms. In simple terms, Turing redefines the question by posing whether a machine can replicate the cognition of a human being. Yet, some may object to the notion that Turing s new question effectively captures the nature of machines capacity for thought or consciousness, such as John Searle. In his Chinese room thought experiment, Searle outlines a scenario that implies machines apparent replication of human cognition does not yield conscious understanding. While Searle s Chinese thought experiment demonstrates how a Turing test is not sufficient to establish that a machine can possess consciousness or thought, this argument does not prove that machines are absolutely incapable of consciousness or thought. Rather, given the ongoing uncertainty of the debate regarding the intelligence of machines, there can be no means to confirm or disconfirm the conscious experience of machines as well as the consciousness of humans by extension of that principle. In attempting to answer the question of whether machines are able to think, Turing redesigns the question around the notion of machines effectiveness at mimicking human cognition. Turing proposes to gauge such effectiveness by a variation of an imitation game, where a man and a woman are concealed from an interrogator who makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ability to possess integrity should build confidence in your team. Integrity is probably where the two coaches will separate their styles of leadership. Coach Knight through the years did several things to damage that integrity, through his actions in Panama or ways he degraded assistant coaches or lecturing teams with the use of props of soiled toilet paper. There were many times where his actions did not represent the role which he was given and he made little effort to change unless he was forced. Coach K built much of what he was on his integrity; he stuck up for his players many times. Once his team was graded by the student paper, it was the fact that the paper portrayed the players as instruments of entertainment and ego indulgence; this infuriated the coach, which he later apologized. What Coach K stood for was a caring, communication and trust within the team, and that was what he wanted for the whole student body, and why his fan base was so strong. • 15. Effects Of Betrayal In The Renaissance The end of the Middle Ages and the flowering of the Renaissance brought many shifts to European societal structure. The face of Christianity changed considerably from the fourteenth century to the mid sixteenth century, beginning with disagreement over who should hold absolute power, the Pope or the Holy Roman Emperor. While the corporate Catholic church had once maintained a fairly unified influence on society, a more nuanced form of Christianity began developing, leading to reformed religious groups with opposing views, namely the Protestants and Anglicans. In the wake of differing opinions, people s group identification determined what people they sided with and who they wouldn t tolerate. With more complex religious and political perspectives, people could distance themselves ideologically from peers, family, and leaders. Frequent mentions of treacherous actions within the literature of this time demonstrates that these differing views made people feel betrayed by their associates. The idea of betrayal is prominent in the lives and texts of several authors of this period, including Dante, Thomas More, and Niccolò Machiavelli. The impact this might have on her learning is that she should be encouraged to be self directed and autonomous as she educates herself about her son s diabetes. A review of the information obtained can e reviewed and expanded upon with the educator. At this developmental stage, she is internally motivated and may rely on previous experiences (Bastable, 2014). • 20. The Third And Final Constant Factor Essay The third and final constant factor originates directly as a result of the anarchic international environment. As stated, a state acts largely in its own best interest. However, given more than one state exists, multiple interests oftentimes intersect. Competition, the final constant, results from this intersection. Rarely, this competition spins out of control into armed conflict. Prior to engaging in war, a state must carefully weigh any potential benefits against likely costs. Mearsheimer defines this as calculated aggression. Most likely, state level competition remains at a level lower than war. Over time, state power balances develop and eventually solidify. Most importantly, state competition, a state s prevailing interest to secure an improved chance for its continued survival, remains firmly in place. Seen in this light, both Waltz and Gilpin s arguments for modifying or upending this balance make better sense. Waltz argues that the international structure limits state behavior. A state can pursue its interest only so far as to not upset the international balance. Gilpin steps past Waltz concluding a state can choose to remake the balance if it decides its benefits outweigh expected costs. One could view Gilpin as a balanced (no pun intended) medium between Mearsheimer s aggression and Waltz s caution. Despite their respective differences, in prescribing to a realist philosophy, Mearsheimer, Walz, and Gilpin would each conclude persistent state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would definitely use the burning out the trees technique because you never know when you will have to clear out a road block or the entrance to a stash you hid away. I might use the makeshift fishing pole skill because it s always fun to make something then see it work well, plus I like doing entertaining things. For the instrument technique I just probably wouldn t use it. I m not really a band person and It s not as useful as makeshift fishing poles so I probably wouldn t use it. Next are the modifications I would use on the skills. Instead of just randomly burning the inside of a tree into flames I would try and make separate parts of the tree. So if one part of the tree goes into flames accidently I don t burn the whole tree down. Also for the fishing I would try to make stronger or more advanced fishing poles and hooks. I would also test out different bait than just worms. I would see which fish like a certain bug or bait. Then when I go fishing I would see which fish I want to catch, then I would use that specific bait and have a better chance of catching the fish I wanted. These may be how I would prefer using the skills, but how would you prefer them or use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While most people agree that premarital sex is one of the ways to find out whether the couple is perfect for each other, others incline its consequences. Defending the judgment that premarital sex and cohabitation is acceptable and permissible, people who had sex before their marriage or just agree with it expound some reasons. First of all, living together and sex outside marriage have been increasing because of social pressure. In a community, a person who does not follow common norms is abnormal. According to the research in 2011, Mashau learned that a person would be seen as stupid, rural, and sophisticated without participating in premarital sex as his/her peers. It means that some people might neither agree nor disagree with premarital sex, yet they try to simulate what most people do in order to be normal . Giving another reason to protect their opinion, people believe having sex and living together before marriage help them be ready for marriage. Marriage is the most important event in a person s life; thus, everyone wants to find a fitting spouse with whom they are going to live in the rest of the life. They worried a wrong decision will destroy their marriage, even their life. The contribution of premarital sex and cohabitation is a suitable choice which not only helps the couples understand each other but also gets their relationship closer. However, nuclear weapons have not only served in combat, but they have also played a role in keeping the world peaceful by the concept of deterrence. The usage of nuclear weapons would lead to mutual destruction and during the Cold War, nuclear weapons were necessary to maintain international security, as a means of deterrence. Since the end of the Cold War, the cases of nuclear proliferation in Iran and North Korea have gathered enormous international attention. Iran s nuclear program appeared as a result of the Cold War alliance between the United States and the late Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. In 2003, Iran was suspected of developing a military nuclear capability and is now developing medium and intermediate ballistic missiles, which are capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. On the other hand, North Korea set off a nuclear device and declared suspicions about a military nuclear program in 2006. Iran and North Korea have recently started cooperation to develop multi stage ballistic missiles and have conducted several missile flight tests over the last few years (Schmid, 2008). With sources dating back to the late 1960s, North Korea s nuclear weapons program has expanded to be a useful instrument of the government s security. Its principal motivations for developing the nuclear weapons are as follows: to block foreign pressure, create an international impact and preserve the terms and conditions of the DPRK (ruling party of North Korea). In contrast, Iran s motivations to develop strategic weapons appear to be more complex than that of North Korea. Iran s efforts to develop nuclear, chemical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, Uden (2003) states that extensive reading imitates reading in the first language in the way that its key elements are purpose and pleasure. It is based on easy material that is chosen by the learner to build language fluency and. ER allows learners to process language faster and improves comprehension. While, intensive reading refers to the careful reading of the material with the goal of complete and detailed understanding. In Britain, for example, in the eighteen and the nineteen centuries Foggart (cited in Tribble, 1996, p.11) pointed out, it is desirable that the majority should read in the way they can be given instructions and can be educated into a particular ideology, writing on the other hand assume the giving instructions and the formation of views about society . These two skills are viewed as separated skills because reading is passive and writing is productively one; however, these two language skills are complementary and can be closely developed. As Johnson (2008, p.07) believes that the relationship between these two skills is that reading helps learners become better writer, by making them in contact with the rules of grammar, consequently they develop the language structure, grammar and increase their vocabulary; hence, reading in the writing classroom is understood as the appropriate input for the acquisition of writing skill since it is believed that reading passages will somehow function as primary model for which writing skill can be learned, or at least inferred (Eisterhold, 1990, ... He foresees the near impossibility of the passage of a bill, along with many drawbacks in similar attempts to miraculously restore democracy to American citizens. Although this is a greatly debated and doubtful topic, there is still hope in the power of the people. Although this is only a small difference, it has major ramifications for the amount of money that is desirable for donors to give. This, in effect, could mean that the idea of the limit itself is more powerful than the actual limit set. Esenberg goes on to reiterate that the Supreme Court s ruling on candidate fundraising; stating that the ability for candidates to bring in donations is considered a legal advantage amongst candidates (Esenberg, 2010). Limiting this ability would benefit the candidates that are not strong in gathering donations. This is solely based on the communicating and networking factor of candidates. Reducing the power of candidates would allow the media to have a greater impact on the public donations (Esenberg, 2010). The small donors in the public are the ideologically committed union members, which are currently having their influence felt through the donations of larger corporations and Political Action Committees, debates Esenberg (Esenberg, 2010). Incumbents are also the ones who create the campaign finance rules that govern the process, so he foresees the unlikelihood of incumbents being willing to set rules that will make it harder to retain their seats (Esenberg, 2010). For this, the validity of the court s decision surrounding the Campaign Finance Reform Act must be put into question. Corruption is the root of any ruling to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Self-Esteem And Self Esteemcy Build their self esteem, self determination and efficacy From the different challenges identified, it was established that adolescent girls were often confronted with many identity conflicts and low self esteem. It was during the adolescent stage that many girls experience new societal expectations and responsibilities, which often resulted in identity confusion or internal conflict that needed to be resolved during adolescence. Consequently, the best ways of engaging girls were to first build their self esteem, self determination, self efficacy and confidence. According to Powell (2004), by being supportive and giving tasks and challenges that raise self esteem, adolescent girls may be able to have success in school and develop self motivation. Powell (2004) stressed the need for supportive environments and the need to allow adolescents to develop their own unique identities. According to Erickson (1968), adolescents were often at the fifth psychosocial stage of human development. This stage was called Identity versus Identity Confusion. According to Erickson, if adolescents were not allowed to explore their new roles and follow a future positive path, they may remain confused about their identity. Resolving conflicts during adolescence, according to Erickson, assists adolescents to become who they would be, unique individual, progressing further into higher developmental stages.
