2. Lipids don’t dissolve in water but they do in ether. They feel
slick when you touch. Lipids have three main groups: mineral
lipids, static, vegetable and animal lipids and volatile vegetable
lipids. If a lipid evaporates easily it’s called volatile, and if it
doesn’t, it’s called static.
Biologically, lipids are esthers made by combination of some
mono-carbocsils and glycerin. Lipids made by many animals and
vegetables are a natural energy storage. They can be found as
liquid or solid in nature. If a lipid is liquid in 20°C it is called
liquid lipid and it can be found in vegetables and fish. Lipids
contains most of the energy of human food; even starch has the
half of the energy lipids have. But the toughness of burning
lipids is the cause why carbohydrates burn before lipids.

This is a poster prepared by Aylin YILMAZ, about the
food pyramid of our country. As you can see the basic is
carbohydrates bread, rice and typical Turkish bread
made with corn flour. In our country we prefer eating
fruits and vegetables almost in every course. As for us
proteins are concerned, we love meet Basically cow or
lamb meet, we are also fond of bean, lentil and egg is
an important part of our breakfast. Oils are usual all
the time in the cooking process, but olive oil is the most
common kind that as usual in our country. Also we like
to have dried fruits during the day. Yes, I admit we love
sugar !!! Although it is considered to be unhealthy, it
always make me feel happy!
