This document summarizes the implementation of advanced process control (APC) at two parallel fired heaters at Rompetrol's Constanta Refinery in Romania. The APC system, using Emerson's PredictPro and SmartProcess technologies, optimized the heaters to minimize excess air and reduce fuel usage. This resulted in estimated annual fuel savings of $100,000 by improving oxygen control without requiring air flow control and $82,000 by allowing the heaters to control downstream processes. The APC system also improved the heaters' ability to automatically manage load changes and disturbances.
The market for the supply of heat to buildings is changing constantly. Solar systems, heat systems and other technologies, integrated concepts for energy supply and electronic control systems have established themselves in this market. The objectives remain the same – demand controlled heat supply, low energy consumption and low emissions.
Testo supply superior measurement tools for all you engineering and servicing needs. It is impossible to find another product line with so many well-engineered mobile gas analysers as Testo have. Which ever flue gas analyser you decide, you can be assured that the gas paths are optimised i.e. are kept as short as possible. Using the instruments has never been so easy; this gives the user confidence to work efficiently, fast and professionally.
Elements of a Successful Burner Management ProjectEmerson Exchange
BP's Kirk Adams and Emerson's David Shepard present at the 2011 Emerson Exchange in Nashville.
A refinery SRU project replaced the BMS/combustion controls on two SCOT units, four Claus units, and two incinerators. The BMS platform was DeltaV SIS and the combustion controls was done in DeltaV. Many different factors led to a successful project. During the engineering phase, a standard state based approach simplified design for multiple types of equipment and made it easy to coordinate combustion controls with the BMS. Having an engineered approach to test the trips was also important. Special Bypass Functionality and AMS Quickcheck helped reduce startup time.

general structure and coverage of the chapter (for example, if it covers the relevant aspects related to
measurement units and conversion factors, and if there are additional topics that should be covered in
this chapter), and on the recommendations to be contained in IRES.
The current text presents the recommendations from the UN Manual F.29 as well as some points that
were raised during the last OG meeting. The issue of “harmonization” of standard/default conversion
factors still needs to be addressed. It was suggested that tables be moved to an annex. Please provide
your views on which ones should be retained in the chapter.
Cryogenic Vessel Alternatives' Kegan Kavander and Emerson's Nicole Rundlett won the best of conference presentation in the Instrumentation Flow track at the 2011 Emerson Exchange conference in Nashville, TN USA.
Their abstract: The LNG market has increased dramatically over the past several years, and developing systems to handle custody transfer transactions in remote areas is a key to the market's success. Cryogenic Vessel Alternatives has developed an LNG dispensing trailer which allows for the transport and eventual sale of LNG to remote areas.
Accurate metering of the LNG is facilitated through the use of a Micro Motion CMF100 which has been designed specifically for cryogenic applications. Using the sensor's diagnostics, customers are ensured of being billed for LNG in an all liquid state.

Changing Best Practices in Flue Gas AnalysisYokogawa1
Zirconium Oxide and Catalytic Bead sensor based analyzers have been the primary means of flue gas analysis for control and safety. The recently published API-556 has highlighted several considerations when using these technologies that were not commonly known throughout the industry. This webinar will explain the theory of operation of tunable diode laser spectrometers and the application thereof to gas fired reformers, boilers, & heaters as a layer of protection during startup and efficiency diagnostic during operation.
During this webinar recording, you will learn:
-What is the purpose of flue gas?
-The evolution of flue gas Analyzers
-Industry standards and recommended practices on the application of different types of instruments
Yokogawa, globally recognized leader in a number of process control fields, has authored an e-book which provides useful insight into how operators of combustion based equipment and systems can improve efficiency and enhance safety by employing modern technology.

Air emissions that occur during the loading, discharging and storage of petrochemical liquids are called ‘Volatile Organic Compounds’ (VOC). Some of the VOC emissions from petrochemical are classified as toxic, carcinogenic or teratogenic. These emissions represent a significant contribution to air pollution especially in and around urban areas. Throughout the world legislative authorities are increasingly focusing on the detrimental effect of these VOC emissions.
The Vapour Processing System (VPS) is designed to reduce these emissions with 99,9%. At the same time the VPS contributes to the sustainable development of bulk-handling companies by reducing their electricity consumption. The VPS consists of a modified gas engine with a continuous dual fuel device and is controlled by a specially designed engine, generator and fuel management system.
The VPS operates as a fully automatic device. As soon as any hazardous vapour is detected the system starts operating.

A case study on Process Condensate Stripper in Ammonia Plant by Prem Baboo.pdfPremBaboo4
A trouble shooting case study in Fertilizers unit, India.Solving the problem of Feed/Effluent Exchanger E-3321A/B in Process Condensate stripping section of Ammonia plant by Analytical approach. The problem solved by in house experts without changing the heat exchangers while others plant change the heat exchangers. Number of modification done and huge amount of energy saved. The paper intended how to save energy by changing heat exchanger and pressure of PC Stripper. The treated process condensate was earlier cooled by CW in final cooler from about 90ºC to 40ºC. This available heat of PC is being recovered by exchanging heat with DM water in a plate heat exchanger. The pressure of PC stripper has been raised to about 1.5 kg/cm²g to make the extra heat recovery possible. Now pressure is 41.5 kg/cm2. A new Plate heat exchanger was procured & installed for the heat recovery.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

As a business owner, I understand the importance of having a strong online presence and leveraging various digital platforms to reach and engage with your target audience. One often overlooked yet highly valuable asset in this regard is the humble Yahoo account. While many may perceive Yahoo as a relic of the past, the truth is that these accounts still hold immense potential for businesses of all sizes.
Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

12. Potential Problem
One heater has no automatic air flow control but we
need to minimise the excess air.
Soultion:
– Use process flow rate to change heat demand, which in turn
changes the fuel requirement allowing us to push the excess
air ratio to the optimum position.
– The second heater (which does have a variable speed drive
on its air fan), can then be used to control the total flow to
the downstream process.
