2. Research
• Strengths
Shows me what magazines looks like and what is expected in a magazine.
Gives me a chance to read through the articles and how they’re laid out.
Shows me popular colour schemes and text designs.
• How it helped
Helped me get a general layout of a magazine
Helped me learn magazine conventions
Gave me ideas for my product
• Weaknesses
I think we spent too much time on research
It might end up affecting people’s quality
People may rely too heavily on the research and add nothing new to their projects
• Improvements
I could've read more articles, as I focused mostly on the layout
Spent more time on the double page spread as I focused more on the front cover
Looked at a wider variety of all kinds of magazines
• Effects on products
The product could look more professional
Could look more like a genuine magazine
3. Planning
• Strengths
I got to write down all of my ideas and see which one I would go through with
I had multiple mind maps so that I could write down more of my thoughts
• How it helped
I could easily sort through my ideas and pick my best one
Easy to expand on any ideas I have
Gave me more inspiration for the project
• Weaknesses
I didn’t have as many ideas as I usually have, which meant less for me to work
with
• Improvements
Think of more ideas
Expand on ideas I already had
Give more information and context for my ideas
• Effect on product
It would’ve given me a larger amount of ideas to work with and to pick from
I would've had a more thought out look on the final product.
4. Time Management
• Management
There were times when my time management struggled and I
either fell behind or completed my work too quickly, however for
the most part I think I managed my time fairly well.
• Completion
I managed to complete all of my production work on time,
however there’s always room for improvement. I can think of
several changes I would’ve made if I had extra time.
• If I had more time
Change the colour schemes to be less bright
Change the font text
Change the layout of the double age spread
Change the background image for the double page spread
Make the centre image for the double page spread less wide
5. Technical Qualities
My main font is very
blocky while theirs is
curvy, and while mine
is centered, their text
goes to the left.
Their cover lines are all
in comic style speech
bubbles, whereas mine
isn’t in anything.
My barcode is on
the left hand side
while theirs is on
the right
They have sections at the bottom and top
of the magazine for the important text
The
professional
magazine looks
better than
mine does, as
its more
organized and
better made.
However, I do
like the art
style I used and
the main title
text.
There’s less text on their magazine, the text is
smaller and it’s all in the same place for less
confusion. I much prefer this design to my
own text placement
There’s more
Colour in their
magazine,
however their
main colours
appear to be
black and
yellow,
whereas my
main colours
are red, green
and blue
6. Aesthetic QualitiesMy work looks ok-
it’s not perfect,
but I think that it
works rather well.
In my opinion, my work wasn’t overly creative- it
doesn’t really do anything new. However, I think
my actual article was creatively written.
I like the background
image, although I
don’t think it works
particularly well for
the double page
spread. I also like
the center image. It
adds a bit of Colour
and really stands
out. The title text
also looks nice in my
opinion.
If I could improve it,
I’d make the central
image thinner so it
takes up less space
and I’d draw up a
brighter background
image so the text
stands out more
I’d say my
strengths are
the article, the
center image
and the title
text font,
whereas the
weaknesses
are the
background
images and
the amount of
text.
The title text is the same as the masthead on the front cover.
The pixelated art style is the same as it is on the front cover.
I used a different font for the article to make it easier to read.
7. Audience AppealMy audience are male
and by having bold and
bright colours/text
fonts I will gather their
attention. T has a very
simple art style and text
fonts to make it easer
to read, and looks
simple as it’s for middle
class, and they're the
most likely to prefer a
casual look.
Has the same Red-
Green- Blue Colour
scheme as the front
cover but in a
different order.
The masthead for this
page is a different font
from the others
because I didn’t have
enough time to make it
the same font.
The text font is also
different from the
front cover, I meant
to change it to match
the double page
spread and add a
little continuity, but I
forgot.
Pixelated waterfall I
drew to add for the
center. Not sure on
whether I like it or
not, Although I do
think It’s good for
breaking up the
text.
